Papa’s World – the only grandson adores the three older granddaughters – Maddy-Ella -Sarah – being BODE!

Bode sitting on Maddy’s lap.

He has always adored Ella – but lately he has become close to Maddy – whenever he sees her – he sits with her.

She is the oldest and he is the youngest of the six grandchildren.

He seems to have taken soccer to heart and may be our next soccer player.

She – Ella – has always been there for him – no matter what everyone is doing – she finds time to spend with him.

He wears a sweatshirt to Ella’s soccer games with MYERS on the back – it was hers when she was his age!

A somber moment with the both of them – but in her lap he has been since he could walk!

He sits by himself and cheers for her when she is on the field – “ELLA – ELLA” !!!!

Lately he has become closer to Sarah – she is younger than the other two – but I notice him following here now that they are in college.
Sarah and Bode – I love this picture.

All three he adores – he wants to see them all the time and will ask if they are HOME from college.

It is neat to see him bonding with Sarah now – she has always been close to the twins.

The grandkids – Ella had soccer practice.

Papa’s World – Our family time at the airbnb and in historic Lynchberg, Va.

The grandkids playing UNO at the dining room table at the AIRBNB.

We all gathered at this AIRBNB for a family time together

as both older grand daughters attend college in Lynchburg Va.

A game of UNO – laughing – this AIRBNB is a 100 year old home –

that has been completly restored.

A true caption

This had been the first time as a family we were altogther –

Both family’s are back in NVA where we moved from.

MORMOR is what the little ones call Sherry – which in Swede means MOTHERSMOTHER!

Daughter Tammy is the mother to the three little ones is what I call them!

The other three I call the three older ones! LOL

To Bode – Ella is his Idol

Papa’s World – Sharing family time with MADDY!

Taylor Sarah Bode Cassidy and MADDY!

Soon – she will turn 21 – where oh where has the time gone?

I remember her little hands and fingers – locking her arms around my neck.

Picking her up from the babysitter and singing Ole McDonald Had A Farm!

Her first song she hummed to was Christopher Cross “SAILING”!

Now – she is a Junior at University of Lynchburg lady soccer team Hornets!

Starting at left front attacker – moving to right front in 2nd half and listed as midfielder in the program.

Ranked at number 22 in the top 25 in the nation in Division three soccer national polls.

THIS WOULD BE ME! LOL

We all came together to watch both Maddy and Ella play one another ( first time ever)

Ella held her own – as a freshmen –

playing almost all minutes in the entire games this season.

She lost 2 – 0 to Lynchburg –

who scored late into the second half –

the bench was the difference.

We had twelve of us – both families and all six grand kids in a air bnb –

just a few minutes from each of their dorm rooms and campus.

Tammy and the three little ones – Bode just may be our next soccer star!

We stayed four nights – watched two soccer games – had dinner both in and out –

and celebrated Maddy’s mother birthday.

While she is extremely busy – she carries a almost 4.0 in Enviomental Engineering –

She spent time with us on three different occasions.

With classes and soccer practice – that time was hard to accomplish.

Family picture – our son in law Mike had to leave to take Ella to soccer practice.

As you can see the boys are outnumbered by the girls –

We have eight ladies and four men.

All in all – MADDY got to spend precious time with us.

And we got to tour her new dorm house – three bedrooms – two bath and kitchen on campus.

Five ladies share it.

PAPA’S WORLD – LIVING LIFE TO THE PLUS

Papa’s World – hiking Riverside Park in Lynchburg Va. with Mike – Debby and Sarah and Sherry.

We all met in Lynchburg to watch the grandaughters play soccer – the next day we went for a hike. This park was real close to where we stayed in the Airbnb.

There were many hiking trails off of the park paved path.

I did not have the shoes to hike in so we stayed on the path.

The trail is not long but requires some climbing up and down steep inclines.

It goes through the dense woods and above the James River and looks like it has access to the river.

While this was closed for the season – a locomotive and caboose – as the rails run all through this area for transportation along with the river in it’s early years of forming Lynchburg Va.
There also are FOUR colleges here –

Liberty University – Sweet Briar College – Randolph College and the University of Lynchburg.

Sarah checking out the warning sign as some of the area is fenced off near steep inclines.

The incline here is close to a couple hundred feet almost straight down.

The trail does make its way down with a narrow zig zag path.

Not for anyone who has a fear of heights like me!

Debby Papa Sarah

Sherry climbed the steps up to a beginning of a trail and said it led to a very dark dense forest!

This platform was some 25 feet above us!

A view of the train trestle across the James river.

It was a nice way to spend a few hours in the afternoon.

Later we picked up Ella so she could spend the night with us –

Maddy had practice and a lot of school work to do.

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – when sister vs. sister – and one team is nationally ranked – we all win!

Number 10 – Ella Number 13 – Maddy

It all started many years ago – youth travel teams – Maddy two years older –

They played together until Maddy left the travel team in Winchester –

to compete in the Ludoun soccer program 65 miles away!

She made this choice on her own as soon as she could drive.

It was soccer hot bed right outside Washington DC.

Ella remained as she was too young to travel that far.

She also suffered a broken bone in each foot different years that had her not playing.

Maddy secured a spot in the try outs and maintained a above 4.0 GPA all through HS.

Maddy selected University of Lynchburg to continue her soccer playing.

Today they are ranked nationally in the top 25 in Division III and at this date – 11 – 1.

Ella number 10 – was recruited by two colleges and selected Randolph College

She now plays for the Wildcats which are situated across town in Lynchburg Va.

Ten minutes from Maddy and the campus of the University of Lynchburg.

As a Freshman – she has started every game and played all the minutes except two per game!

Maddy number 13 – played 13 games as a Freshman and has started as a Sophomore and a Junior.
Here – Ella is about to get the ball and Maddy number 13 is guarding her.

In all these years this game is the first time they have ever competed against one another.

Here they are in the middle at the top – it was a very good game – tough – no one scored in the first half.
Each half is 45 minutes – and ended up 0 to 0 at the half.
Ella – number 10 – tallest in the starting line up – the difference was the bench – Lynchburg kept throwing fresh players into the game.

Because of the Pandemic and covid –

the coach could not travel to recruit – Ella was recruited before the pandemic!

She plays midfield defense – the coach wants her to shoot – five times a game instead of always passing.

She is young and it will come – she plays so effortlessly.

As soon as he can he puts her back in after she rests for two minutes.

So proud of Maddy number 13 who drove herslf 65 miles each way to practice – so she would get noticed – and now plays on a team that is ranked in the top 25 in the nation at Division III.

She is fast – quick and plays attacker both left and right and midfielder in the front.

You can just tell she has the skills – the coach tells the team –

with Maddy do the 1 – 2 – do not worry – she is fast enough she can break for the goal – just get her the ball – this is where she passes back to the middle and breaks for the front!

SISTERS – Ella – number 10 Maddy – number 13
Proud parents – Mike and Debby

Ella made the shirts representing both schools and their mascots and colors – she is such a artist!

Ella and Maddy – Randolph and Lynchburg – sisters going head to head.

Lynchburg gutted out a 2 to 0 win –

scoring both goals late in the second half –

they just had a stronger bench.

Sarah – sister – freshmen in H.S.

Sarah – will turn 15 later this month – she could of played soccer – but had no interest and will run track.

She already is just above six and one half minute miler.

She played soccer when younger and also was fast and good.

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – a cleansing with morning showers and then the Sun for a afternoon walk on the beach

A look outside from our porch – I heard the rain – a drizzle – cleaning everything in the early morning!
A look to the West as the sky is clearing – the next phase to be built is at the end of this street.
A look once again toward the East and the Ocean as the storm clouds continue to move.

It was a nice rain – lasting maybe a hour.

Enough so everything looked fresh and clean and it was a warm rain – 75 degrees at day break!

Then the Sun came out from behind the clouds!

We had the afternoon sunshine and warming up to 82 degrees!

The water has remained warm also at the ocean.

Making it a perfect way to walk the surf and beach!

Sherry stopping to take a picture of a large fishing boat just off Ocean Isle Beach – a ten minute drive for us to reach.
Ocean Isle Beach

Now that we are settled in and almost all of the repairs we listed have been completed

we are trying each day to go to the beach to walk!

It is so relaxing – and there are still people renting homes here!

We at the time I write this – almost one third of the way through October!

And it has been really beautiful weather –

low 70’s at night – 82 to 84 degrees and sunshine in the daytime!

WALKING IN SUNSHINE – PAPA’S WORLD

MY SITE: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog my contact email: fitztdf@aol.com PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – for exercise – walking healthy – our go to spot – the beach!

One of the reason we came South and where we choose to build our home – Ocean Isle Beach.

We tried many areas down here and were drawn to this area in N.C. called Ocean Isle Beach.

We are some eight miles or so to the S.C. border – and we are situated on the mainland –

some four miles inland with the ICW between us and the beach.

We also are close to numerous golf courses – which is another reason we moved South.

We decided as we age – it was time to take it serious – well – we are not good – but love to play!

Opposites attract – that is us!

We tried out NMB in S.C. and really liked it there – but in order to find what we wanted –

we each had a list – it would of cost too much in renovations and thus way over our price point.

Then by accident – we stumbled on to a new community being built.

And we could get everything we wanted – all new – for the price we would of paid before renovations!

And here is one of those things on both our lists – access to a beach to walk each day!

We are in our autumn years – still able to get out and about – and one of those reasons why –

is to maintain a healthy lifestyle – eating and walking.

Sherry is a CERTIFIED HEALTH COACH – and prompts me to stay active.

That also is why we golf – being outside in the fresh air –

four to five hours each time – some walking – we trade off and on – and swinging those clubs(often)

She has run her own internet business from home going on sixteen years.

Papa’s World – The erosion of the North end of Ocean Isle Beach – saddly – it will be gone.

We decided to drive to the tip of North Ocean Isle Beach

We had not been up there and decided to just explore a little and walk the beach.

What we found was eye opening and very sad!

You can see in this picture just how narrow the beach gets and this was not high tide yet.

Protecting the beach with huge bags full of sand!
You can see it is almost hopeless!
Sherry standing on what remains of the beach!
A friend of mine has told me this area has lost many homes and even streets in the last twenty years!

It is very sad to see – the houses are roped off and no tress passing signs are posted.

They look like the furniture is still there as are the blinds and curtins.

Thank you for reading Papa’s World – my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

Farther down the beach from the north end – beautiful – Ocean Isle Beach , N.C.
PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – Red sky in the morning – Sailor take warning! It came in torrents – all day!

It was beautiful to start – soft pink glow – but you could feel it in the air – a storm was coming!

The sky was a soft pink color – but you also could see the strom clouds.

It was so peaceful walking outside to take some pictures – no sounds – not even birds.

My place to sit and sip my coffee – it is from here I walked out to take the pictures.
You could feel the storm in the air.

Later it began to rain – I was able to sit on the porch as the wind was coming from behind the house.

The rain turned heavy and the wind blew it away from me.

Later that afternoon we discovered a leak on the roof and reported it – they came the next day and repaired it!

I feel we were very lucky to have been home when this happened and not away on one of our trips.

It rained all day and into the night – stopping in the next morning for them to fix the roof.

RED SKY IN THE MORNING – SAILOR TAKE WARNING
PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – Lions – Tigers and Bears OH MY! Spiders – Snakes and Gators OH YEAH!

Our new home and the front porch.

We knew when we moved to the South – just 8 miles to the border of S.C. in Ocean Isle Beach N.C.

That we would encounter some animals – reptiles that we had never had before!

The spiders – I just do not like – having had as a child some really scary sightings!

I later found out this was somewhat harmless – but it still gave me goose bumps!

This I think was a form of wolf spider – the second one I encountered – the first was inside the lanai!

Spiders as far as I am concerned belong outside!

The one inside was very large – and when I tried to sweep it away – the thing exploded and a hundred little spiders came out!

I managed to kill them all – but it was a Twilight Zone feeling!

I do not want those type of things inside!

If you look back at the picture of the front porch – and looking straight at it and raise your right arm and point – these next two pictures were taken less than 200 feet up the street and on the corner!

This gator I would say is about four feet long – maybe a little longer!

The man who took the picture said it continued up the hill to another pond!

There are two ponds near us – one about 10 houses down the street –

and one maybe a 1/3 mile behind our house in a undevolped site that they are working on.

We have seen a gator in both of them but never in the pond up the hill!

From where this picture is taken to the pond up the hill is like 200 or 300 yards!

Now – how it got to where this picture was taken – it had to come from behind our house-

either to the right or left!

Sherry looking through the trees to her left – that is our house.

This drainage ditch runs behind our house and turns left and follows the treeline.

When you get to the end of the drainage ditch and turn right across the lawns –

you come to the street where this picture was taken.

We saw tracks in this ditch – not sure just what they were – but they had small claws on the tips!

Last but not least is the rather large COPPERHEAD!

We have not seen any of these – but we have seen a four or five foot BLACK SNAKE!

Those are okay because they kill these bad boys.

This one was near where the Gator picture was taken.

Several neighbors have seen dead ones on the road after being run over.

There are also COTTONMOUTHS around although no one has seen them.

I am more leary of these as they are hard to spot even though I constantly am on the lookout for them.

Yes – we knew in moving to the South we would experience all of this!

But – we made our choice and are so happy we did – close to golfing and close to the beach as well

as close to all these critters! SPIDERS SNAKES and GATORS! OH YEAH!!!!

Papa’s World – with family at the Durham Bulls Triple AAA baseball game!

What a nice baseball park in Durham N.C.

It was Casey’s birthday – we went boating and now to watch the baseball game!

It turned out the crowd size was announced at 8400 fans!

That is quite a crowd for a minor league game.

It had all the things you see in a minor league game with between innings entertainment!

They got the fans involved by having different contests – the scoreboard was fantastic and had another one in right field.

The man here was adjusting cameras for the scoreboard and we sat right on the third base line!

Kristie about to drive the boat up onto the trailer.

We went to Lake Harris – Sherry’s neice and husband Casey have a boat.

It turned out to be a warm day despite the morning temperature of 54 degrees!

The two daughters couldn’t wait to anchor the boat and swim!

Olivia and Maya about to go in – they played on the beach and swan back and forth.

To them the water was fine – to me it was cold! LOL

I am such a fair weather swimmer – must be warm!

We spent a good two and one half hours on the water – even having lunch on the boat!

Later that day – we all went into Durham to watch the triple AAA Durham Bulls baseball game.

Papa’s World – some random thoughts and pictures – “DAYS OF MY LIFE”!

Our granddaughter – number 13 – she deked this player out and went right past her!

She is now a Junior at the Unversiy of Lynchburg in Va. Starting the last two years – and only one loss this season – currently sole possession of first place in their conference.

Papa – Maddy Myers – Sherry

This young lady not only starts and plays most of the entire games – but is a ALL ACADEMIC –

Into hiking – sunrises – and her major is Enviromental Engineering.

And coming down the soccer pipe line – is the youngest and only boy – BODE!

Will soon turn eight and already golfs with his dad – is all boy – bikes – running –

always looks at trucks – barefooted while outside – cold weather and all.

Loves and adores his older cousin Ella who as a Freshmen at Randolph College –

starts at midfield and plays most of the whole games.

I believe Bode will be the same!

FAMILY
Beyond those protected trees is our backyard and our home!

This drainage ditch is at the end of the cul de sac –

and allows the runoff to make its way to a very large second pond in the development.

We have seen a gator in each pond!

And we found some unknown tracks in this ditch going back and forth.

I told Sherry not to get too close to the high grass as we also have snakes around here.

Just down the street – two houses – two pictures were taken in the road –

A small gator was on its way to a third pond up the road and a large copperhead was also there.

Not at the same time – but N.C, has them both where we live.

I have also seen a very large black snake – which are good as they kill the copperheads!

All part of living in the South near the marsh and beaches!

Cassidy and Marley on football game day!

At least three times a week – she either calls her MorMor or zooms!

Sherry is MorMor – Swedish for Mothers- Mother!

She is very close to her and is the one who does not want us to leave

or asks when we are coming again.

She is sweet – but also very determined and head strong.

Marley is the new puppy – a GoldenDoodle –

who judging by her legs and feet – is going to be very large!

She is loving – likes to run and pull her leash – Taylor – Cassidy’s sister –

is the one who handles her the best.

She nips and chases both Bode and Cassidy!

Our front porch in October – Low 80’s to high 70’s in the daytime

low 70’s at night – beautiful weather – slight warm breezes – why we moved here!

Front porch sitting early morning with my coffee on this glider!

Protected from the sun and rain when it blows the other way.

I told Sherry – we had to have a front porch and this is one of the models

along with a office room – that was available!

The office was her wish list!

Papa’s World – meet up in Berkeley Springs!

We had planned this for months –

A childhood friend – Bob and wife – PJ –

were going to travel through our area on their way back to N.H.

So – we arranged to meet here in Berkeley Springs , W.V.

fpr two nights and stay at the historic Country Inn.

Sherry Papa (Tom) PJ ( Pam) Bob

A year ago they had traveled with their RV and stayed a couple nights

at our home in Brambleton. Va.

Bob and I went to grade school and high school together

played football together and other sports.

He would stay overnight at my house and me at his house.

And – of course – many stories of beer on the hill sleeping out

with a couple of our other friends!

We have a lot of history together.

The historic Country Inn

We got together a few times at our five year reunions

And just nine months ago –

started the same health journey that Sherry and I are on!

And in that short time looking at this picture

I can tell it is working!

Another close by resort we visited and had dinner

They will go back to N.H. to their condo

having left their RV in Nashville at their sons home

and after Christmas – drive back and pick it up

and spend the next four or more months in Florida.

We also visited Cacapon State park and golf course

This course was lush in green and in really good shape

I wanted to just play it but we had no clubs with us!

So – we sat on the deck – watching players and drank a few beers!

Berkeley Springs
Deep in discussion!
Walking Cacapon
The girls social distancing from us so they say! At Lake Holiday!

We had a very good two days all be it way too short.

When good friends meet up

it always seems short.

Berkeley Springs – we had never stayed here but had toured it before

The weather got a bit chilly –

but we had fun.

60 some years later still friends

Papa’s World – “Who you goona call – GHOSTBUSTERS”! Fixing the island counter!

On our walk through – Sherry found the corner had broken off and they had glued it back on!

It had come as far as we could tell – from the vendor shop like that!

It had plastic wrap on it and she could feel the glue on the top.

You can see the crack line and then the amount they were cutting off.

The warranty said they had the right to fix it – either in place or they take it off and back to the shop!

If they took it off – we would be one week before they would come back!

But – there was the problem of dust and chips!

We did not want the house full of all the dust!

When they showed up – I talked to the crew and they assured us they could control the dust and chips.

They were suppose to take it off and do it off site.

All they needed was plastic which they put down – then they discovered they had no more plastic.

Wait a second Sherry says – I have king sized sheets!

“So who you goona call – GHOSTBUSTERS”

I got some bag clips – and they clipped the two sheets together – and the three of them went under the sheets – with a huge vacuum – and they began cutting and grinding!

It worked – king sized sheets – plastic down on the floor – hardly any dust or chips!
They had to cut both corners so they would match.
The crack has been cut off and grinded smooth and polished!
The opposite corner cut – grinded and polished to match!

If we were not happy -we could of made them switch out the counter top –

but all our counters match including the sinks in the bathrooms.

This was a quick fix – ten minutes on each corner!

The cracked corner is gone – we thought it looked great – and hardly any clean up!

So – we once again had great sevice on the repairs we have made a list of.

We avoided all the work of taking the counter top off and risking more damage.

So – “WHO YOU GONNA CALL – GHOSTBUSTERS”!

Papa’s World – relaxing and walking the beach – we have seemed to like one better than the other!

Although Ocean Isle Beach is a ten minute drive – we seem to be going to Sunset Beach more often!

This beach is a extra ten minute drive – 8 miles away.

The difference is one is commercial and the other residential.

One is not flat and the other is.

One is more calm than the other.

Both have piers – both have plenty of parking – at least we have had no problems.

The pier at Sunset Beach – a lot of people sit under it to get out of the sun.

And you can see how calm the water is here and the beach wide and flat at low tide.

You can wade out and only be waist high!

Ocean Isle Beach has bigger waves and the beach is up and down.

There is where the mini golf is – the community park with concerts.

Bars and grills and a community center on the beach with bathrooms.

Sunset beach is almost all beach houses and rentals – hardly any big buildings!

We do go to both – Ocean Isle Beach has a big Farmers market a block from the beach.

Sunset Beach has their market on the mainland side as well as their concerts are mainland.

I like the drive to Ocean Isle Beach better – easier to get to.

Ocean Isle has little shops – and easy to walk around.

Many side streets and channels with houses.

Sunset Beach has a marsh on the South end and is where the Kindred Spirit mailbox is.

With low tide – the beach is really wide.

PAPA’S WORLD – WALKING SUNSET BEACH , N.C.

Papa’s World – Friends – make awish and hang from a tree – Vareen gardens – walking – ICW!

GOOD-DAY EVERYONE!

As per our routine with new guests – we took them for a walk along the ICW and the marsh –

at Vareen Memorial Garden just outside Little River S.C.

Josh and Chann’e walking across the shells along the ICW

We were going to do one last beach day at Sunset Beach – but first – we wanted them to see this.

This is whefre you can watch the big gambling boat depart from Little River and go past here

and make it ways out to the Ocean beyond the international border line.

There – I think they drop anchor and everyone gambles!

And the little one got a chance to explore – there were tiny little black crabs everywhere!

She was a trooper in walking back there to pose for a picture!

Her mom and dad were right there.

They left two dogs home in care by sister – hope everything was okay! LOL

This also is the place you come to – find a shell with a hole in it – take a sharpie –

and write something on it – name – date – anything – and then a string you brought along –

you hang it from one of the numerous trees “AND MAKE A WISH”!

Steve and Elaine – our dear friends from back in WNY!

There are thousands of shells hanging everywhere.

Thirty years ago or maybe longer – we played volleyball in a 16 team league –

In Portville N.Y. and also weekend tournaments.

We were all on the same co-ed team –

and it was a tough league – if you were not watching – you could get a broken nose!

Josh was just a baby when we played – sitting in his stroller – watching us!

Papa World – Sunset and night time on Ocean Isle beach with company – ice cream!

Good day!

We decided to take our company to Ocean Isle Beach – play some mini golf –

walk to the ice cream store and then go out onto the beach at sunset!

Eating ice cream on the beach just before sunset!
As we walked out onto the beach – we passed this “WILL YOU MARRY ME” proposal!

The people had gathered waiting for the surprise – we did not see it – but it was beautiful.

Eating the ice cream – no wind – warm – the tide was in.
Our comapny left two dogs home!

It was a fun day – we had gone to Sunset beach in the early afternoon –

then to dinner in Calabash and after here to play mini golf and walk the beach with ice cream!

The sun sinking in the West – dusk near – they had walked to the pier – now it was time to depart!

Provision Company at Holden Beach – N.C.

After golf at Lockwood Folly golf course – we made our way to this bar and grill –

we had never eaten here and did not know what to expect ( it was really good)

We placed our order while standing in line – and there is a very large cooler right there.

You simple take out the beer or soft drink you select – there is a bottle opener on the side-

and then you walk away and wait on the deck until your party is called –

and then you are seated!

No one keeps track of the number of drinks you take out of there –

IT ALL IS A HONOR SYSTEM and there is a hole in the wall to deposit empty bottles!

We are seated on the right at a table – and the walls and ceilings are covered with car plates –

and dollar bills! Most have names on them – hundreds and hundreds of them – and the plates have dates. Some newer and some older!

After our name was called – we were seated at this table – if you need another drink – just go back to the cooler – or go to the bar inside and order – just give your name at the bar and when you go to pay the bill-

YOU Tell them what you had to DRINK! ALL ON THE HONOR SYSTEM!

Cindy and Buck – Steve and Sherry – Elaine behind the post!

The waitress seats everyone and another comes out with your orders and calls out a Name!

You just acknowledge and they serve you!

This was a first for me and THE HONOR SYSTEM works – even at the bar!

All good things must be done!
We finished up and were ready to pay – counted the drinks – and well – hey – HONOR SYSTEM WORKS!
A good day of golfing – friends relaxing and sharing a meal!

Papa’s World – The War at the Folly – the golfing scramble match – GALS vs. GUYS – FRIENDS!

On a beautiful day – Elaine getting in some practice putts!

This really is a vista view golf course – sitting on the marsh – between Oak Island and Holden Beach N.C.

Lined up and ready to go – TEE TIME is now! The Gals tee off first and we are there to cheer them on!
I will let them say who is who!

They hit it well off the tee – a 30 yard advantage –

which means we have to have a drive 200

yards or more down the middle –

a slice right was the best we could do –

but we were even with there drive – and once again – their second shot was close to the green – we had our work cut out for us!

There they are putting for birdie on par three!

If only we could putt!

Three putting is going to make this awful close!

They are out there – 175 yards – with the advantage – we have to drive it 275 to be even!

Thanks to Steve – it was not his drives so much – I was matching him –

it was his ability to hit his second shot – and we would putt for birdie

only we could not putt and were taking boggie!

They started fast and maintained the pace as we matched cards – but we did also!
Picking up ball and going up to where Cindy drove her ball – advantage – another 100 yards!

All we could do was try to stay even to where they hit their drives – the second and third shots saved us!

Then – all of a sudden – we started to two putt and me – of all people – sank two one putts!

GAME ON – we were coming after them!

We shot a 43 on the front nine and we could not putt – back nine we started to putt and had a 40.

We wasted that front nine – and we knew it would be close – and it was!

They ended up with a 85 and we beat them by two strokes!

They are just so good that they need no strokes!
so at the end I asked them about the putts and what holes they used them on?

Remember in the previous bog I said they could have two extra putts each nine!

WHAT PUTTS Elaine and Sherry said?

Did not you hear me at the rules?

You got two extra putts for each nine holes!

Well – they remembered Cindy saying something about PUTTS they said!

Cindy added later – we would of beaten you if we had taken those putts!

Yes – you might have – so next time you only get two putts!

But then you have to remember to use them! LOL

Next blog – after golf scramble – dinner at Provision – Holden Beach – where they have a honor system on DRINKS – and it works!

Papa’s World – Shopping – stop for drinks – at Patio’s by the water – and then dinner.

A beautiful morning sunrise – our friends car in driveway – and later a shopping trip to Calabash.

We decided this day would be shopping – a unique store in Calabash called Calahans.

This has been a store of destination for decades and decades.

“L” shaped and 100 feet long or more on each side!

There are thousands and thousands of items – beach – lawn – apparal and holidays – all of them!

Steve in the old English telephone booth outside

It was fun – but I am a people watcher – not a shoper – I know what I want – and I am in and out!

But – Elaine and Steve had fun – I got to visit with a guy sitting on a bench –

and Sherry got to look some more at what she has looked at at least six times! LOL

And then it was on our way to Little River, S.C. to the waterfront.

I told them this is where the locals go and hang out.

There is even a biker bar there!

But our favorite is called “PATIO’S” and sits on the water – has live music –

and good food!

We are on the lower deck behind the other two patio decks – and also behind the band.

We have a VIEW of the water and boat traffic – plus this is where they dock the two large Casino boats.

This is the waterway the big boat came down on – and turned completly around and docked right in front of us!

It was incredible to watch as it from end to end – you would swear it could touch both shores!

The Casino boat after turning around right there and docking – and passengers getting off.

It loads up here – ticket office right there and there were hundreds of people on it!

It goes out to the ocean to the international border line – and then they anchor and they gamble!

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

We decided to stay – order dinner – I HAD A SALAD –

and listen to the band play ’70’s and ’80’s music!

The food was good and so was the music!

Papa’s World – 1.4 miles South from the last house on Sunset Beach – sits a mailbox – KINDRED SPIRIT – now going onto the middle of 5 decades

A large piece of driftwood sits on a sand dune just above the mailbox – dedicated to the man who put it there some four and one half decades ago – along with another hippie female friend.

We had read about this famous mailbox – several books have been written about it –

It is a 1.4 mile walk South on what is called Bird Island – an nature preserve –

located on the Southern half of Sunset Beach in N.C.

I am not sure if this is the other half – the lady friend of Frank – but this is one of two benches next to the mailbox – a place to sit and think and write your thoughts in the journal provided in the mailbox.
The large piece of driftwood with the plaque – overlooking the nature preserve – there are trails back in there to explore – walk in silence with only the breeze – the calling of the birds and the surf .
Papa – at the entrance to the benches and mailbox – waiting as another guest takes her picture.
I can not even imagine how all those years ago – they managed to carry everything here to install the mailbox!
The KINDRED SPIRIT mailbox and benches – this is maintained by persons unknown – has been all these years – and replaced many times as the old ones have slowly eroded away.
It is a lonely spot – yet so many people walk here everyday and leave there writings and thoughts –

throught the years – those journals have been preserved and are considered historical writings –

and are preserved in a museum! I do not know which one but I plan to find out.

The view behind the mailbox at the top of the sand dune – the nature preserve and in the distance –

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH – when on Sunset Beach – go South and I think at 40th. street – the end –

just find a place to park alongside the road – be sure your tires are completly off the pavement – and if a bike path off that also.

Then find the beach access and come to a sign at the beach – it tells you the distance to the mailbox and further down the beach – the jetty and the mouth of the river – where the Casino boats from Little River enter the ocean – going out to the International border line to gamble.

PAPA’S WORLD livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

Papa’s World – Bird Island Nature walk with Sherry – Steve and Elaine – five miles walking the surf and beach!

At the Southern end of Sunset Beach is a nature sanctuary called Bird Island

Full of marsh – water and nature trails through the dunes and along the river – all sand and sea grass!

Miles of deserted beach – calm waves and warm water – 82 degrees on the shoreline of N.C.

My thoughts to this is what this must of looked like hundreds and thousands of years before the mass immigration

from Europe and the rest of the World.

No one here – just beautiful nature sand and surf.

Our friends of many years from back in NYS visited for a week.

Elaine and Steve paid us a visit – and we went to Sunset beach – early morning before it got too hot!

When you walk South – Sunset Beach ends and Bird Island begins – no houses and only walkers

like yourself – walking the surf – riding bikes or jogging.

Almost to the bay and jetty – walking trail through the dunes.

This walk round trip is about five miles – so bring water to drink – walk in the surf to cool off –

and just enjoy yourself with the wonder of solitude – the only sound is that of the surf and birds!

Papa’s World – Sunset Beach, N.C. a day on the beach with friends – sun – sand and surf!

Our friends – Steve and Elaine Starks – true friends who appreciate you for who you are!

We have known them since our volleyball days back in the mid to late “80’s.

We have vactioned with them and their children – shared meals and presents.

Moments in time of destress and family passings.

TRUE FRIENDS all these years and now they have come to vaction in our new home.

Coming in from cooling off in the ocean.

We planed a beach week – golfing day – eating out for seafood and now – minature golf –

as their son and daughter in law along with grandbaby – join us.

It has been a wonderful time rehashing old stories and listening to new news fom back home.

They are from Portville N.Y. as were we before moving to NVA and now N.C.

They visited us in NVA and now here.

We took a little five and half mile walk on the beach with them!

One of the things they agreed to do with us was walk to what is known as the KINDRED SPIRIT mailbox

that is installed about 1.4 miles down the Sunset Beach and known as BIRD ISLAND!

It was installed there going on five decades ago – by a peace loving hippie couple.

In that mailbox are journals to wrtie your thoughts.

These journals are considered historic essays – thoughts and from all types of people and currently are in a musuem.

SUNSET BEACH is listed as a top ten beach in the country!

It is very wide when the tide is out – and rather calm – hard packed sand for easy walking!

The water was a balmy 82 degrees in mid September!

Now – the tourist season is mostly over – kids back in school – college kids gone so business scale back.

But – the beach remains the same – we almost have it all to ourselves!

Papa’s World – Walking with friends – Sunset on Sunset Beach – water was 82 degrees!

The pier and setting sun on Sunset Beach – N.C.

We decided to go to the beach early evening – late afternoon – to walk the surf!

Our friends – Steve and Elaine – came to visit for the week.

They are from back in WNY where we lived before moving to NVA!

The very first thing we saw was a young man making this sculpture

And it looked just like a cement mound with seashells in it!

I asked him why and he said the next day was his three year anniversary and he made it for his wife!

He said he had never done anything like this before and in the middle was a heart made out of black shells!

He had placed it just above the high tide line – hoping it would stay!

He did a really good job and I wondered who had collected all the shells for him?

We continued on our way – and the water temp was a warm 82 degrees!

Sherry – Steve and Elaine

We go back to the mid to late ’80’s when we lived in Portville NY.

We were there when they had the first of two children – a boy and later a girl. Josh and Brianne.

We first met them when we were rounding out our co-ed volleyball team – 16 teams in the league.

And it was not your average back yard volleyball.

If not being very watchful – you could get a broken nose!

It was competive and several teams played in weekend tournaments!

They came to visit for the week and their son and wife will also come down from Lynchburg , Va.

We are playing golf Friday afternoon with the McBrides as they know them from our neighbors in Portville!

A view from inside to outside from our newly built house – our covered and closed in Lanai. Our Tower Garden – in less than five weeks – lush green with tomatoes and cucumbers coming – fresh lettuce’s and herbs – no pesticides and all grown here in dirtless – weedless enviorment with nutrients and natural minerals from the earth developed into a tonic. Just add water and tonic.

We sold our home in Va. when the stock market took a huge dive.

Our 401K went down – but two things also happened –

Her on line business stayed the same – providing income along with SS and the 401K and pensions –

and the home values shot up in our neighborhood – it was time to SELL!

In just 19 days we sold – completly moved out and had enough to finace this new house in N.C.

We came South after almost three months living with our daughters and their families.

For nine months in searching – and then committing – we built our new home.

Now – I must say – we took a big hit on the 401K ( it since has almost come all the way back)

But – our partime on-line business continued – and we just moved it from Va. to SC to NC –

never missing a beat – and in the process – when we sold the house – we also sold 98% of the furnishings!

WE WERE STARTING A NEW LIFE ALL TOGETHER IN THE SOUTH!

eWe left behind families – but these three – instead of a camp – both parents work – thir parents bought them plane tickets – Sherry flew up and came back with them for a week with us!

We have three older granddaughters – two now in college and both starting on their college soccer teams.

The third is a freshman in HS –

we want to get them and their parents down for a visit –

but schedules have to be cordinated.

Our daughter of this family – also is a CERTIFIED HEALTH COACH

and has surpassed her mother in the same on line business from her home .

Achieving QMD in the company – working together with her mother.

Next month – 8 or 9 team members will travel to the Smokey Mountains to a cabin in the mountains –

for a retreat to once again reconnect –

which has the pandemic keeping them apart.

Although everything is on line -they miss being social and miss seing one another.

Keeping in touch – zoom meetings – calls – life goes on – friends – partners – phones – voxes – business as usual.
We do have friends here in N.C. and have for the last 35 years.

We have been visiting them for 25 years after they left our neighborhood in NYS!

We came to really like the area and made it a place to look –

but then along came NMB –

and then Ocean Isle Beach –

so we choose to settle there.

We still are 40 to 45 minutes away – but they play golf in our area –

and have for years and years.

We try to see and play golf once a week –

and we all are fans of the Bills ( we also like Washington)

There are many theaters and concerts we attend together –

FRIENDS –

A new life with old friends – and making other friends along the way.

There is a rainbow for us after relocating!

While it is hard to say goodbyes –

it also is so rewarding to hug and say hello when they visit!

We have been fortunate – a passive income –

a family that understands –

and friends for years.

Moving South has been a new adventure –

Papa’s World – we took a little trip across the street to Ocean Ridge – Sherry and I golfed at Lions Paw – 9 holes

This is our entrance to where we live – but right at the end of the road you see here – your turn left – go one mile –

And turn right into OCEAN RIDGE PLANTATION –

and there are FOUR GOLF COURSES in there –

and they are called the BIG CATS !

LIONS PAW – TIGERS EYE – PANTHERS RUN – LEOPARDS CHASE!

We have played all 18 of TIGER EYES – and LEOPARDS CHASE –

and decided after not playing in over a month –

to play nine on LIONS PAW!

And there are gators here also!
I am always on the look out for snakes and gators!

I actually golfed the best I have doine in a long time!

I was on five greens in regulation –

but – the greens were not great –

very slow – sand kicked up when putting!

I never missed a drive or my second shots.

I had one nine iron I caught too much turf –

but other than that I was pleased except I three putted seven greens!

I found the water on the par three and had a six!

I just did not score!

Spotting Sherry when she drives. This is the course the tonado hit back in May!
COFFEE – YES!!!!!

We decided to play just nine as we had been over a month –

being busy with a trip back to NVA to watch grandkids!

And it was the right one –

we used our new drivers license to get the local rates –

you have to have ID!

Afterwards – we crossed the causeway and had dinner at the Ocean Isle Fish Company on the top deck!

PAPA’S WORLD – a great finish to a good day!

Papa’s World – early morning – cloudy – gray clouds – is a storm brewing? Yes – it rained all day!

Looking East – toward the sunrise – Ocean Isle Beach – four miles away.

It looked and felt like rain – warm – slight breeze –

there is one house left to build here on this street before the turn –

and they have already framed and covered it in with plywood and starting the shingles for the roof.

There are four maybe five more that are very close to closing

and then the construction continues beyond what you see –

and winds around to a dead end that we can see in a distance from our back yard.

You can just see through the woods where they are building.

Hoping that all the construction on the street back there is done by the end of the year!

Then it moves to the opposite – the West end where they are putting in infrastructure!

The stormclouds on the West side and at the end of the street is where the infrastrucure is now going in!
Looking SW and beyond those trees – far back is the new infrastructure – we can not see it!

That tree line is protected – and can not be cut back or down!

Which is one of the reasons we choose this location!

Full of wildlife – natures sounds and yes – I believe there are snakes in there!

So – I am always looking before I step = better to be safe – but this is also full of birds –

so we have now put up a bird feeder!

We love the natural setting!

The Sun made a effort to peak through – but the clouds kept coming!

So – it went – hour by hour and then a gentle rain started – getting a little bit heavier – and lasted all day!

A good soaking rain – no lightening or thunder!

Papa’s World – swimming – grandkids at LAKE HOLIDAY Cross Junction Va. with Mike and Deb.

nSherry – Sarah – Papa – Cassidy – Taylor – Debby – Bode and Mike.

On our last day home – we packed the little ones into the car and drove the hour and ten minutes to Cross Junction

to Lake Holiday – where a gated community with guard house sits –

a 227 acre lake in the valley of the blue ridge mountains in the Shenadoah’s.

Mike and Debby have lived here for 16 years –

raising their three girls – in the country.

There are three beaches on this lake – the main one with the marina and club house –

beach three across from that

and this is called beach two –

has a camping ground – volleyball court – playground – boat docks and storage for canoes and kayaks.

A partial sand beach with pea gravel as the sand keeps washing into the lake.

So they put in a small retaining wall and backfilled with pea gravel.

It is shallow close to the edge but within 25 feet – is over your head.

The brown area in the water is the shallow part – the dark blue is the deep water.

There was no one there – the campground was empty –

the kids had it all to themselves – and later had a tube ride

from a friend of Mike and Debby who stopped by when they saw us at the docks for boats.

The little ones love it here and want to go and see their cousins –

Maddy – Ella and Sarah.

The first two are now in college and Sarah is first year in H.S.

Mike and Debby host family for overnight all the time –

a campfire pit in the back yard –

lights strung amongst the trees.

It is quiet here and the lake about one mile away.

Bode Taylor Cassidy

The shallow part as Taylor is standing –

but it drops off quickly and way over your head!

There is a dam here and one time before the lake – all valleys with streams running through them.

Sarah – Cassidy – Taylor and Bode just relaxing in the Sun –

the water – well I thought it to be cold –

but they said once you were in – you got use to it –

but as soon as they came out – they grabbed towels

and wrapped up in them and sat in the warm Sun!

Sherry with Bode – Taylor – Sarah and in front Cassidy – grandkids!

As promised for the twins birthday celebration – their cousin Sarah would stay overnight and we all went to

the waterpark the next day. Ida Lee Waterpark and since it was Labor day weekend –

hardly anyone was there!

This sits just outside Leesburg Va.

Bode was with them but had to use the restroom!

The only way for him to join up with them again was to get a tube and get in as they passed him on the lazy river.

Sarah Cassidy and Taylor

The water was a little cold but okay after they were in. The temps had cooled down to mid ’70’s!

All in all – we were there three or four hours!

The park itself is not that big and lots of lifeguards – making it easy for us to sit one place and watch them!

Since it was a holiday weekend – most people had gone out of town – it was not crowded at all!

They had a blast on the slides and pools and lazy river – a obstacle course and a place to snack.

Sarah about to go under the water fall! I would bring them back again and we had shade to sit in!

and that saved my life!

We started to eat healthy – went away from the fast – junk food

and started taking a supplement –

a mixture of fruits – vegetables – berries –

juiced – dried and the nutrients put into capsules.

This was called Juice Plus.

Sherry with grand kids & daughters

Along the way – we managed to get all the grand kids

on the supplement for free!

Minus Maddy who is in college and we still provide her with the shakes and capsules

There is no doubt in my mind that I would of passed away

had I not changed my lifestyle and taken this supplement.

On this journey of health –

Sherry has become a certified health instructor

through courses with Doctor Bill Sears and Doctor Pam Popper.

All of our family is involved

So – that is my story and I am now seven years past that heart attack

last year I had a nuclear test and everything is as it was after the by passes.

My blood work is amazing

and I now see my heart doctor once a yaer.

I have managed in the last 12 months to shed some 20 pounds.

I am now what I weighed when I graduated in 1967!

Papa’s World – Twins birthday – MARLEY puppy – and cousin Sarah comes to visit!

The twins turned eleven years old – Cassidy and Taylor birthday!

Yes – they are twins – and they had to be taken out early because Taylor was taking all the nourishment!

Today – Cassidy is normal for her age but Taylor is going to be real tall – like her MORMOR –

Swedish for MOTHERSMOTHER!

Sherry is 5′ 9″ and she will be taller than that.

Bode – who turns eight is also going to be tall and here is cousin Sarah – who at soon to be 15 – is gaining on Sherry!

We went back to NVA to watch the little ones and the puppy Marley – and Sarah came for overnight!

MARLEY at six months old – a puppy who likes to play keep away and run and run.

She is adorable and is a Goldendoodle – judging by her feet – she will be very large! She is so friendly and loving.

But – you must make sure to keep things out of reach as she tends to chew – thus she stood up and grabbed the hat of our son in law and that became history! LOL

And at night – after all day with MARLEY and the little ones – sleep was welcomed! LOL

Papa’s World – we had AIRLINE vouchers to use – flying back home to NVA – parents gone – watching grandkids

CASSIDY BODE TAYLOR 3 little grandkids!

Before the Pandemic hit – we were flying to Phoenix for a health conference – then it was canceled –

So we have had all this money tied up in two vouchers!

Fast forward – “Why not use part of them for flying back to NVA – instead of driving – to watch over the kids!”

Their parents had a out of state ( Vermont) family wedding – no children – adults only – and we said yes –

we would come up for the long weekend – and stay with them and the new puppy – MARLEY!

MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN THE AIRPORT AND PLANE THE ENTIRE TIME – I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT!

We had to arrive early at North Myrtle Beach International airport – and there in was a problem.

The week before we had taken our drivers test ( stressed out for two months) for N.C.

Hint for drivers test – study all the signs and know what they are for even if they are blank!

There are special shapes!

And we passed – new drivers license ( paper form) and real ID to come in the mail.

We put our VA. license away ( mistake number one) and our new paper ID in our wallets.

(mistake number two) Keep both of them until in the mail you get the hard real ID!

Even though we had TSA clearence – we had to go thru as if we were fakes and maybe

causing a problem – which meant everything had to be searched( I had no problem with this)

and mistake number three ( take your passports when flying)!

All of that could of been avoided – it was our own fault – but we made it only to worry ( STRESS)

the return from NVA through a much bigger ( DULLES) and more stringent examination due to the fact

that the agent was training a new agent! ( NO PROBLEM WITH THAT!)

And yes it was stressful but we made it!

Waiting at MYRTLE BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR OUR FLIGHT ON AMERICAN AIRLINES!
It all worked out and now I can laugh at it!

Just a senior moment – we knew better but hey – we are old and sometimes not as organized as we used to be!

But – we arrived – our daughter picked us up and we were on our way to their house – the grandkids and MARLEY!

MARLEY and CASSIDY – the new puppy and one of the twin girls – fraternal twins!

This was the beginning of a six day stay – two days with the parents – leaving and coming back –

and four days with grandkids and the puppy – a GOLDENDOODLE – who is going to be very large!

But – in our senior wisdom – we had plans to keep them busy and with these three –

it is when you get done “PAPA – when are we going to do the next thing”?

They are busy all the time except when on IPAD’S or BODE asking for my phone!

Then it is complete silence – except MARLEY who as a puppy gets into everything!

All has to be put up out of reach but she is really good – goes to the door when she wants out –

and plays run and hide and stay out of reach when you try to catch her to bring her in –

towel off her extra big feet – I found holding dog food and saying treat she would come! LOL

Taylor – who is on her way to being six feet tall – 11 years old – Bode – who never stays still except on my phone – Marley who is only six months old and is going to be huge – and Cassidy – who although shorter – is right on spot being a 11 year old!

Taylor is the quiet one of the three – always doing what told – and is the one who tkaes full care of Marley.

She is a sweetheart – sometimes you do not even know she is around!

BODE is in motion all the time – all boy and in the dead of winter – no socks and no shoes and outside!

Soccer – riding bike – golfing with his father – smart and outgoing – but can be a handful!

Cassidy – sweet – does crafts all the time – loves her MORMOR( Sherry) and calls and zooms all the time.

She takes after Sherry and is by her side all the time.

It broke my heart when it was time to leave – she came out for the third time to say goodbye –

hugs and asking when we will see her again –

then as we are pulling out to go to the airport – inside the garage standing on the step –

peeking out to us so she could see us leave – so lonely – and not wanting us to leave!

She misses us more than the other two!

Next blog will be contiued on our visit and the grandkids – WHEW – keeping them busy is a fulltime job!

Papa’s World – we are all settled in – now it is time – back to growing our own veggies – THE TOWER GARDEN!

When we sold our house back in June 2020 – we had three of these – two regular units and one indoors one.

They looked just like these – The TOWER GARDENS – a self contained unit to grow veggies with out dirt!

And they grow with just water and tonic – two different tonics made up of minerals and nutrients of the Earth.

A pump is in the tank and a timer is set to pump up the wtaer at 15 minute intervals ( you can adjust the times)

You start from just seeds which are provoded and put them in spun lava rock

place them in the pods and start the timer!

That is it! And then – it produces veggies almost 1/3 the time faster than normal growing!

After 13 months – we are moved in and this is ours set up on the open patio.

What you see here took less than three weeks starting from seeds!

This picture shows the seeds sprouting in the spun lava which you place into the pods for the Tower Garden!
These are the spun lava rock with seeds already inserted into the pods on the Tower Garden – where water and tonic minerals from the bottom tank are pumped up the middle of the tower and drip down the the tower over where the roots from the seeds have formed.

oYou water them at different intervals – example water on for 15 minutes – off for 30 or 45 minutes!

All from a timer you can adjust as you grow!

The Towr Garden we have is a indoor – outdoor one that when outdoors – you just take the grow lights off!

Indoors you put them back on and they are controlled by a timer – everything you need from seeds to tonic –

to grow lights – pump – timer – lava rock and instructions for one growing season is there when you order it.

Seed sprouting out of the spun lava rock after placed in the pod and watert and tonic constantly going 24 / 7!

It costs just pennies a day to run – you just make sure water is in the tank and by instructions when to add more tonic minerals. EASY as that – almost effortless and no WEEDING!

They are like children – they become a labor of love!

Comparrisons – this is THREE WEEKS from seed to plants thriving!
We went away for one week – and this was left unattended – and you can see the growth in week FOUR!
At three weeks – from seeds to this and we are eating off it!
Four weeks and after we had been away – the timer and water pump continued – the sun did the rest!

The only thing I did was to fill the tank with water – as the plants grow and start to bear veggies – they as a normal

need water – it becomes necessary every thee days to put water in.

There is a float in the tank that tells you when to add water!

Every 2 to 4 tank fulls if refilling – you put in one cup of nutrients of the two tonic minerals!

Between weeks THREE and FOUR – we are eating lettuce for salads every night for dinner!
We know there are no pesticides and is all natural – you need at least four hours of sun light –
and just sit back and watch it grow. You can grow anything that is not grown on a tree or has to be in the ground.

Melons – cucumbers – radish – celery – peppers – tomatoe’s – everything!
You do not have to have a GREEN THUMB – just keep the water in the tank and every week or two –
reach into the tank and pull roots out so they do not shut the pump down,
and that is really easy to to do and they smell so good!

THE TOWER GARDEN – by THE JUICE PLUS COMPANY

Papa’s World – Granddaughters – Maddy and Ella – College Soccer – same conference – different schools – game on!

Maddy – our oldest granddaughter – entering her third year at the UNIVERSITY of LYNCHBURG!

She has like it seems played soccer all her life – since she was old enough to put on a uniform.

Always the smallest on the field – at first the ball was almost bigger than her!

But – in her Junior HS year she had a grwoth spurt – and ended up being 5′ 6″ tall and a star soccer player.

She went to Lynchburg and as a Freshman played in 13 games and starting last year as a starter.

This past weekend – in their first game – lost a hard fought game to a team from Florida – a very good non division team – 2 to 1 – but the write up was about how she played and the skill set she brings – almost several times bringing them back for a tie.

She has excelled and is one of the best players on a very young team – starting 7 Freshman.

The Freshman are all big – 5′ 11″ to 6.0 ‘ tall and all really good.

They won their second game 6 to 0 over a team from NY city.

Ella Myers – # 10 – a 5′ 9″ freshman at Randolph College in Lynchburg Va. just ten minutes away from her sister Maddy.

She was recruited by two schools and in a preseason interview – her now coach said –

“Ella Myers – will play and get a lot of minutes at midfielder”!

She has started all the preseason games – and both regular season games – and played almost the entire games!

They have won both games and in the second game – a 0 to 0 tie going into minute 64 of the second half –

she scored her first college goal in what would be the winning goal – ( one was added later) as a Freshmen.

She had a very hard journey to get here –

breaking a bone in each foot at different years –

losing a couple years of playing plus not having a couch that believed in her playing!

Yet – TWO COLLEGE coaches saw the potential and recruited her.

Her HS team came within one goal of a state championship!

She just missed by inches of scoring that goal!

HER MOTTO I have given her –

” I AM A SKILLED PLAYER – and NOW HERE I AM”!

Both of them overcame the odds – from being the smallest with huge skills – from overcoming broken bones and a coach who did not believe in her – to both of them starting on their respective COLLEGE SOCCER TEAMS!

And YES – they will play against each other come Ocrober 6th.

and we plan on being there to see it!

Cheering both of them on – a win for us no matter the outcome.

Sarah who is fifthteen – could of been just as good had she continued –
Maddy – oldest and still the smallest of the three girls and Ella –
proud of all three –
you go Sarah and reach for the stars in your own dreams!

It will be a grand time watching this match and who knows – if the teams continue winning meeting in a playoff.

SISTERS
So proud of you Ella for showing them what they had and how they overlooked you!

” I AM A SKILLED PLAYER – AND NOW HERE I AM”

Papa’s World – random thoughts and pictures living our life to the plus!

My first thing every morning – fix my cup of coffee!

And then it is onto writing my blog – livinglifedoingitmyway.blog !

All this is early – and depends on when I wake up – mostly bathroom! LOL

Once up – it is hard for me to fall back asleep – so I just get up and fix that cup of coffee!

Pushing the garbage can outside before 6 am. which is the time they want it out there!

Sunrises here are really something – the ocean is but four miles away!

This street for construction is almost done – two houses left – right across the street –

and one down two lots from us.

All the rest are down where the corner is and then around the cul-de-sac.

Passwords – I write them down!

Everything today needs a password – and I just can not remember them all – so I have a special place

I keep them safe – where I am the one who knows where to look ( Sherry knows also) !

The entrance to our development – Cameron Woods – Ocean Isle Beach – mainland side.

It is a quiet place except for the on going construction – which by years end should be done where we live.

The new phase is now having the infrastrucure put in and is away from us.

Ocean Isle Beach and our grandaughters – only four miles away.

We choose this area because we are on the mainland side – then the ICW – then the houses and business

of Ocean Isle Beach and the beach itself!

We also are close to Sunset beach – another three miles!

We are near the border of S.C and a lot of golf courses!

All the towns and communities have free open air concerts – running from mid May to mid September!
And of course Calabash – the Seafood capital of the world! Only seven miles away – a place we take company!

This area is full of places to visit and dine – all with views!

And another major reason we moved here – golfing – we try to golf once a week – and we have 20 plus courses right where we live to choose from!

Papa’s World – I finally took pictures of the gator in our pond where we now live!

Down at the end of this street in Cameron Woods – Ocean Isle Beach – is our pond – and home to a six foot GATOR!

I have seen it a couple times – but never all of “IT”!

We decided at near sunset – 7:30 pm. after watching the BMW golf tournament –

to take a walk down and around the pond.

Hoping we would see the GATOR!

Well – we did and it was laying on some grass and weeds about 75 feet from the edge of the pond!

The reflection of the houses on the water and right in the middle it lays!

I am guessing 5 to 7 feet long when the tail is out straight!

It never moved and in the fading light – I had to look twice to make sure!

So we walked along the path to see it at different angles! And it never moved!

I had the feeling it was watching us!

We have now seen it at different times – but never all the way out of the water.

At least I have taken a picture of it!

Papa’s World – free open air concerts at he community park on Ocean Isle Beach – N.C.

In our second attempt to come here on a Friday night – we made it!

A couple weeks ago after we moved in – we tried to come down to the beach – a band we knew was playing –

but there was a line to cross the causeway and started a half mile before the traffic circle.

We learned that next time we would come earlier – and we did – and had no wait – we drove right in and parked.

This venue is free and runs from Memorial Day right through a couple weeks in September.

All top notch bands – and it is a bring your own food and drink –

no glass containers – and most people have plastic cups.

Lawn chairs – just sit down where you want –

and they do have pop corn – water and soda’s for sale.

Bathrooms are here and this is located right at the traffic circle – across the road from the beach.

The band “CAROLINA BREAKERS” six members plus their road crew.

A friend of ours who lives back in Lancaster Pa. –

told me she grew up in a community with one of the band members and knew him quite well!

It is indeed a small world!

We stayed for over a hour –

and then drove the 4 miles back to Cameron Woods.

This community park sits right across from the bar and grill – “PELICAN PERCH” and the MINI GOLF!

The pier is but a short walk across the intersection –

and there was plenty of parking.

By the time we left –

I would say 3 to 400 people were scattered around.

I think a lot of them were locals

but also from beach rentals.

Paps’s World – Taylor – Cassidy and Bode – first day of school and Marley walking to bus stop!

On Wednesday – it marked the first day of school for fifth grade for Taylor and Cassidy and first grade for Bode.

It also was the first day for Marley – the new goldendoodle – to walk to the bus stop!

I think she has become Tayor’s to walk as she takes her all the time.

Taylor – Marley – Bode in the back and Cassidy!

At first Marley would not walk just plopping down in the middle of the sidewalk – where Taylor would pick her up and carry her – but I think she has gotten over the puppy stage now – and Taylor seems to be the one who controls her!

The three plus the dog walk a couple blocks down the street to where the school bus stops and picks them up.

We are headed there and by the time you read this will already been and came back home again.

The parents are going out of state to a wedding and we will fly home( using a few vouchers we had)

to stay with the kids and Marley.

It will be a extended weekend – and looking forward to seeing everyone including Deb – Mike and Sarah.

The other two oldest are now in college.

To think one year ago – we did the same thing – only we had sold our home and stayed there for two months until we moved to S.C. – going back and forth to Winmchester and Leesburg.

We helped out with the home schooling due to the pandemic.

The kids did well but need to structure of school and friends and classmates.

Taylor in the lead with Marley and then Cassidy followed by Bode – walking to the bus stop.

Papa’s World – sunsets in Cameron Woods – Ocean Isle Beach – N.C.

We are so fortunate – not only do we get beautiful sun rises – but the sunsets at night are just as beautiful!

Because we are on a major curve to the ocean – if you look at a global map – from below Myrtle Beach up to Wilmington N.C. – we are constanlty getting clouds and winds from the ocean – coming in from the sunrises and then at night coming in from the sunsets.

They say because of that curve – hurricanes usually by pass this area and head for the tip of Wilmington and then onto the outer banks!

Now – if there is a high pressure off shore -then that will direct the storm into the mainland – but that does not happen often.

Beautiful sky from the west.

And the lightening storms mostly come from over the ocean some three miles away! Thunder and rain!

Never tried this but think it to be funny!!! Might be my go to in the store next time! LOL!

With the sunset behind us – the ocean clouds in front of us!
The ocean clouds to the East – our neighbors house who has not closed – and the last foundation close to us.

Papa’s World – one first day of H.S. – the other first day of College and Soccer!

OH MY! Here Sarah is first day of H.S. and Ella first day of college and soccer!

Now – Maddy is also in college – her third year of classes and also playing soccer!

Life is changing – Deb and Mike – from three girls at home – to now just Sarah.

The twin girls – soon to be 11 years old and Bode – soon to be 8 years old.

Are also growing up so fast – and so we live on through them!

Sarah growing up – almost as tall as Ella who is taller than Sherry at 5′ 9″ !

She is now in her first year of H.S. following in the footsteps of the other two. She also could of been a really good soccer player – but has chosen the arts as her focus – dance – acting – and writing!

She looks to me just like her mother Debby!

Full of life – independent – caring – and gives her dad a run for his money! LOL

Fashion – make up – leader in trends – this is Sarah!

Full of life – she wanted grandma to take her to NYC – now I think it is Paris!

She will walk her own path in life – always looking forward.

All three of these girls – are like this – never asking just giving – helping and caring for others.
Ella from her dorm room on campus of Randolph College in Lynchburg Va.

Her picture is her first day of classes and her first day of soccer practice.

She will compete against her sister Maddy in the same cofference – and Maddy is at

The University of Lynchburg – right across town from Ella!

Maddy played in 15 games as a Freshman and was a starter her Sophomore year.

Our calender is marked for when they play each other.

We hope to plan a long weekend to see them both.

Ella is so excited – on her own – no pressures from peers – just being Ella and playing soccer and taking classes.

As you can see in the picture – smiling – gentle – caring – “TINY” as we called her – all grown up!

And then there is Papa – Thomas David Fitzsimmons – graduating in May – 1967 – all those years ago.

My best H.S. friend – bottom right hand corner – Bobby – who we have reconnected the last ten years –

who in October will come for a visit – with his wife Pam – and we will play golf – beach it –

and just be talking of old times past!

Papa’s World – a little side trip to Tanger Outlets in Myrtle Beach – coffee and ice tea.

And that is how we live our lives – one day at a time.

We decided to just get out on a nice day and run some errands – the twins birthday is coming up –

and Cassidy and her MorMor have been in conversations every day – she ( Cassidy) calls

at least once a day and relays on Taylors thoughts! LOL

Our first stop after a half hour drive – was the Tanger Outlets – in Myrtle Beach. Where Sherry had some shopping

for birthday gifts to do for the twins. We are flying home – had vouchers we had to use – and will be kid watching

for a extra long weekend – as their parents are going to a wedding.

It also happens to be the twins birthday!

I wanted a coffee and a place to sit in the shade to people watch while Sherry went to the stores she wanted to go to.

She bought a unsweetened ice tea which I watched over for her while she shopped.

Here I am sitting outside the food court under a huge umbrella – sipping my coffee – and just enjoying

a very beautiful day with a slight breeze!

Living here affords us opportunities we did not have before – shopping – outlets – beach –

everything you can say “These people are going home from vacation – we get to stay”!

A day walking – visiting the beach – this is our WHY we came here.

Papa’s World – the skies of Ocean Isle Beach – Cameron Woods – N.C.

The entrance to Cameron Woods walking from our home to the gate.

It is a quiet walk – not much traffic – no sidewalks or walking path – just the road.

At the entrance is the first phase – maybe 30 or 40 homes and the model.

Then – you look at the sky – and the clouds – before you head back to where we live .66 mile away.

There is only one house in the tall pines and live oaks along this route.

There are lots here sold but for whatever reason – no one is building on them –

so it reamins street lights and street signs – paved roads and empty of houses.

Then you arrive here – our brand new neighborhood – just over one year old.

This is pahse two and it is almost all sold out – phase three is having the infrasturcture put in –

and everyday – you have the clouds sweeping in from the ocean three miles away.

We have to drive some four miles to reach the causeway to cross over to OCEAN ISLE BEACH!

But we get these clouds almost anytime of the day!

Then bright sunshine – some rain and lightening shows with thunder!

Great for falling asleep at night – listening to it rain and thunder and flashes of lightening.
Just before the causeway to Ocean Isle Beach at Lowes parking lot!

Beyond those clouds is the light sky of the ocean.

And – it has been warm – mostly in the ’80’s but high humidity.

On the beach – you do not even feel hot!

And the water is warm!

Once again back home with the blue sky and white clouds.

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – random pictures and random thoughts – livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

Living life one day at a time.

We live each day as it comes – we plan ahead – we experience life – always searching the unexplored roads.

Niether one of us are drinkers – when we are with friends – but that is only a couple.

We will go weeks without even thinking of having a drink – I like to sit and watch people while sipping a beer –

she most likely will sip a unsweet ice tea – after one or two – I am done – and then a month later – do it again.

“DUDE – YOU GOT THAT RIGHT”! from a long haired young man commenting on my shirt!

That made me feel good – impressing the younger generation – he did not have to say that – and that made my day.

WE BOTH FEEL THIS WAY!

We often wonder WHY people do what they do – say what they say – think the way they do?

Make your day bright as the sunrise!

Each day is a new day for us – a new way to look at things and a new way to make a difference.

Passing that on to the next generation one day at a time.

I hope this brings some joy into your life – some purpose – life is a gift – cherish it – make changes

subtle if needed – a difference means so much – a purpose –

To you we give a gift of hope –

Pass it on!

Papa’s World – once more – a trip back to the hood – NMB – pick up mail – visit HOTO’S!

We decided to just sit for a while – share some fries and her ice tea and me a cold IPA!

Every Friday – in season – 94.9 THE SURF radio station – broadcasts live from the outside TIKI bar!

If you listen to BEACH MUSIC of the last 60 some years – it comes from here – as the station is right next door.

It was a beautiful morning – and we were notified by the next occupants of the condo – we had mail there!

The mail system – well – no matter how hard you try to change address’s – some seems to always slip through.

Sitting in the open air HOTO’S TIKI BAR AND GRILL right on the NMB main street entrance.

In the far left corner is where the radio station broadcasts from. Their main station is in this building –

We did not know about BEACH MUSIC until we moved down here.

After all it is only from starting in the ’40’s and right straight through to today – still producing tunes we like.

A lot of the music was what I called MOTOWN but to my surprise was produced for the Carolina beach crowds!

Our little drive back here is only thirty minutes in nice easy traffic. And for $2.00 a hour you can pay –

or park and walk – either way it is a deal!

This is where OCEAN DRIVE and MAIN STREET North Myrtle Beach join – at what I call the ARCHWAY

to the main entrance to the beach!

Full of bars and grills – stores – ice cream – hot dogs and fish places everywhere to eat!

– music and free concerts all through the seasons.

We like this area and it is safe to walk around in – I do not care for the main Mrytle Beach –

and I would not walk around there after dark!

The trees behind the house are alive with the sounds of nature – frogs- cicadas – birds and the gentle breeze of the wind – the leaves – the pine needles –

I am a morning person – waking before sunrise – my favorite part of the day – seeing the breaking of the dawn.

Here – you can still see the lights on the garage – they come on at dusk and off after the Sun shines on them.

Across the street – just peaking through – the pink sky – the sun is about to shine. A new day set to begin.

Papa’s World – golfing with wife – SHERRY!

We have always done things together!

One thing we wanted to do when moving farther South – was golf together – and we selected this area

because it was right in the middle of all the golf courses that we want to play.

Back in NVA where we moved from – we did like golfing there but it could be expensive!
We have always golfed – even back in WNY where we belonged to Saint Bonaventure golf course.

But when we moved to NVA – we found it was just too much money and not enough time!

Our friends – the McBrides – live about forty minutes from us – but they do most of their golfing within 5 miles of our new home.

We usually do a scramble for 18 holes – guys vs. the gals.

And – as usual – they always beat us by one or two strokes!

No shame there – they are putting in regulation and we can not putt! LOL

Sherry hits a straight ball – almost everytime – down the middle – I never know where I am going!
Here she is and she got a hold of this one!
The result of the previous picture drive – the green is like less than one hundred yards away!

And this was on a 320 yard hole!

Good second shot and she was putting for birdie.

Golfing with my wife SHERRY!

We try to get out once a week – sometimes we do and other times we do not.

But golfing is being outside – green grass and trees.

Wildlife sometimes – down here it is gators.

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – a morning in the new neighborhood – Cameron Woods.

Morning starts for me with that fresh cup of coffee.

Each morning – as the dawn lights the sky – I tend to wander outside to the driveway – and look both East and West.

The Sun rising – clouds from the ocean – racing across the sky.

And when I trun around – the West sky comes into view.

Again – the clouds coming in from the NW from the Ocean – racing across the sky.

We get both views from the front of the house – it is quiet until the workers start showing up.

Beyond this view is where the new phase is being developed with infrastructure.

Once it is completed on our side – there will be no more constuction noises from this neighborhood.

The contrast at dawn is beautiful.

We walk in late afternoon here – after most have left.

The pond is in this direction and has a resident gator.

Looking toward the back yard – someday I would like to put a outdoor shower along this side of the house.

A place for the little ones and company to wash the sand off – most likely toward the back.

Looking East over the next door house – clouds from the ocean rolling across the sky.

Thank you for reading Papa’s World – just a little sight of early morning – standing in my driveway.

EARLY MORNING FROM THE DRIVEWAY

Papa’s World – friends long weekend – Lake Chautauqua – WNY – THE LAKE HOUSE!

Year number two – being invited to the house on the lake.

We were all neighbors back in the old hood in Portville N.Y.

Sherry and I moved there in ’86 and stayed until 1999.

Buck and Cidy lived there prior to that and moved South in 1996.

Mike and Carol – well they never left – being some of the orginal people on Pleasant Acres Drive.

WE HAVE ALL STAYED FRIENDS ALL THESE YEARS!

The view of Lake Chautauqua – WNY – from the deck of the lake house.

Mike and Carol made a dream come true – they bought a house on a lake – a 30 mile long lake.

They still live back in the hood – and they own a national – pipeline painting company – going all over the counrty

for natural gas and oil lines among other construction projects!

From Mike all those years ago painting solo to now employing crews that travel the counrty –

and still the same old Carol and Mike.

Carol – that sweet smile – not a bigger Bills or Bonas fan!
Mike – we always were playing tricks on each other – or lining up the lawn mowers and racing them down the street.
William “BUCK” McBride – we have known them since we were first married in 1982. My golf buddy!
Cindy – always moving – like the engerizer bunny – walking – always doing something.
Sherry – always smiling laughing – reminds me so much of her father Bill.

We stayed until Monday morning – riding in the boat – golfing Sunday morning – tubing on Saturday – waiting out the rain – listening to music – laughing – just like days of old when we were all neighbors!

TUBING CINDY and PAPA!
Waiting out the rain storm under the canopy in the boat.
Eating dinner on the boat at the Casino Bar and Grill.
Slow cruising Lake Chautauqua before sunset.
A big heart felt thank you for our second time here to Mike and Carol.

Papa’s World – riding the waves – first time – cross off the bucket list – Tube Riding!

Cindy and I riding the wake on the tube!

Once – in my teens – I waterskied – I managed to get up and if I stayed behind the boat – I was okay!

Well – that ended as the person pulling me decided to throw me out wide – and it was all over!

This was our second tube ride – the first was quiet and slow – so we decided to step it up a little!

The first ride was before the rain storm – and we talked it over and decided we could go a little faster –

We had gotten up to 10 MPH and while it was okay – it was just being pulled behind a boat ride!

We are about to go outside the wake – and ended up going 20 MPH! That was fast!

At one point we went wide left and were even alongside the boat!

I have now achieved my goal of tubing and can cross it off my bucketlist.

I have water skied – cross country skied and now tubed – no down hill sking for me.

There are several videos – one where we flew out to the left and were racing side by side with the boat.

But – I do not know how to get them on here so can not show them!

I decided after

that I did it

and now I was done.

Papa’s World – in the boat – on the lake – taking shelter during a quick rainstorm.

We had just made our first slow loop around the cove on the tube – Cindy and I.

The sky turned gray – and we could see the rain coming – so we got back on the boat – pulled the tube up on the rear walkway – and headed into the covered dock area.

I had tried tubing – even if it were a slow trip around – and I was ready to go back out again and speed things up!

It was a quick rain shower and we drove onto the boat lift which is covered.
There was no lightening – just a steady rain.

We talked and decided to once again go tubing – this time a little bit faster – as the first time was sort of boring!

The rain continued for about a half hour – and we could watch it from under the canopy. We had some munchies and drinks – and were dry – the boat has a really good radio so we listened to music and talked.
Cindy and I – life jackets on – the rain almost stopped – for the time being – we were dry!

Papa’s World – at Lake Chautauqua – dinner on the boat – friends all these years.

The Casinio bar and grill – drive up by boat – order and eat and drink!

We arrived around 3:10 pm. on Friday – just in time to move in and unpack – grab a few drinks –

Mike had the boat ready and we made our way out onto the dock and into the boat.

WE WERE HEADED FOR DINNER TO THE CASINO – ABOUT TWO MILES AWAY BY WATER!

Slowly heading to the bar and grill – a nice late afternoon boat ride.
We had tried last year to do the same – but when we got there – they had run out of food!

This spot is a big thing on the lake – it seems all the boats head there and wait in line for a spot.

Not all spots are made for big boats and Mike likes to get a end spot – easier to dock.

Tied up to the dock – after ordering food and drinks – they walk all the way out to these spots and wait on you!
In the back ground is the ferry – taking passengers from one side to the other. I went inside to use the bathroom-

and it is a very cool nightclub inside with a huge bar and lots of inside tables.

Papa’s World – at the lake house on Lake Chautauqua – W.N.Y.

Our neighbors from 30 plus years ago in Pleasant Acres Drive.

The Johns now have a lake house on Lake Chautauqua in W.N.Y. A large natural lake some 30 miles long.

For the second year in a row – we have gathered there at the invitation of Carol and Mike –

for a long weekend of telling stories – catching up and boating!

Early morning view from the enclosed porch overlooking the deck – dock and lake with the sunrise.
Buck – Mike – Carol sitting and just relaxing on the porch.
They have accomplished this in this home away from home.
They are here most weekends.

Papa’s World – on our way to WNY we stopped at Deb & Mikes to stay the night!

We were on our way for a long weekend at Lake Chautauqua and stopped overnight in Lake Holiday!

We had planned this – but they had taken Maddy back to college that day and left Ella and Sarah home.

So – we arranged to have the two of them meet us in Old Town Winchester for dinner.

Our friends Buck and Cindy were with us so they got to once again vist the family.

Debby’s flowers are just beautiful – colors everywhere.
Mike made a Swedish Bear and Ella painted it and did all the artwork on it – Welcome in Swede.
Some more of her flowers.
Debby’s Mantra.

Walking around the yard – does not do it justice as the whole back yard is the same. She has a green thumb.

Papa’s World – going back in time – “WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG”!

This picture has Debby – sitting on ground in front – Tammy – with her arm around Sherry’s fathers shoulder – Sherry’s mother second from Tammy’s left in back row – and me holding Nathan – this was taken almost 32 years ago. Cassidy looks just like her mother Tammy !

We have always been a close knit family – Barb and Bill have passed on – all the cousins have children.

Sarah – who now is almost as tall as Sherry – has always wanted to dance.
The twins as babies – Taylor and Cassidy – then Sarah Maddy – Debby and Ella – who starts college and will pay soccer against Maddy.
Taylor – our grand child who loves to ride horses.
They are growing up so fast – I still call them the little ones!
Bode – blond hair and a smile – who searches me out in the morning to sit on my lap!
The little ones when they were samll but just a few years ago.
Maddy – Ella and Sarah – grwoing up – no longer the small ones – young ladies now.

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – at the beach with the little ones!

Bode – heading out to Taylor and Cassidy at Ocean Isle Beach – N.C.

They were so excited to be able to go to the beach each day – and it was hot – so we decided late afternoon

would be a better time to go – and they played the whole three hours in the surf – riding boogie boards

diving under the waves and getting us nervous as they would inch out farther and farther –

until I would wade out and move them back in.

“Papa – can you fasten this”?

Being young as they are is a exercise in pure energy – being old as I am – it was a exercise just to stand and brace against the waves!

But – I loved every moment of it.

Cassidy and Taylor – heading for the waves.

We did this for five afternoons – on the last night before the parents came – it was mini golf and Italian ice!

I – they – we had enough of facing the big waves and Bode wanted to play as soon as they arrived.

The twins actually ended up liking the mini golf and a lot of laughs on how each one putted the ball.

Both as different as they are but the results were the same.

The beach – we decided the last time for them – we would go to Sunset beach – and they loved it!

As did we – less commercial – more level and the sand more fine.

And it was not as rough as Ocean Isle Beach.

Calling them in for a break – away from the big waves which they were in.

Taylor would stcik more in and closer to us – these two have no fear and are so alike.

Taylor staying closer to us – Cassidy heading out to the waves.

Papa’s World – Broadway at the beach – the little ones and then the beach.

Taylor – so mature and so grown up – yet – while walking in and out of the water – will grab my hand –

Or the hand of her MORMOR ( Swede for MOTHERS MOTHER) she is growing tall – and at 10 – is up to the chin of Sherry – who is tall in her own right.

She is the quiet one of the three – always does what you want and never gives you a rough time.

Cassidy – the other half of the twins – “Someday I will be big” is what she has said.

She is normal size for her age – Taylor has always been bigger – that is why they were early by doctor’s order.

Taylor was taking all the nutrition in the womb – so they had to come out!

They were so tiny – just over three pounds each – but Taylor has maintained that same difference.

Cassidy is a sweet little caring girl who acts like a little mother to Bode – her brother –

but acts more like a twin to Cassidy!

She is a spark plug – so full of energy – natural in sports – cart wheels – over back ward steps –

skate boards – and almost every day face times her MorMor.

Bode – the little guy who at six is growing fast – is so like Cassidy they should be twins –

But he is growing like Taylor! So sweet and caring – yet very determined – and a little fish in the water.

Cassidy is never far from him – they fight but she watches over him like a mother.

He is going to be a golfer – soccer player like his father,

he is into trucks – machines and bikes.

He almost never wears a jacket or socks and shoes – even in the cold.

He is a natural athelete and every time we visit – at 5:30 in the morning –

he knows I am up and blogging – will come to where I am and climb up in my lap!

“PAPA – can I watch you”? Yes little one you can.

FOUR years ago – they are growing up so fast.

Papa’s World – The arrival of the “LITTLE ONES”

Sherry on arrival at Myrtle Beach International Airport with Cassidy – Bode and Taylor.

Sherry flew back to NVA to watch the twins in a play and because both parents work – instead of them paying

for a couple weeks at summer camp –

they bought plane tickets instead and she flew back with them for me to pick up!

The parents were coming down the following week anyways for a in law family vacation about a hour South of us.

We spent the day yesterday with them – in the sun and the warm water of the ocean.

They were so excited and we planned a full week with them. A few dust ups as childeren will have –

But once we seperated the two –

Cassidy and Bode – it was fine.

Taylor – who is only ten years old – will be taller than her MorMor ( Sherry ) who is 5’9″.

They were so excited to do a number of things – being a gradparent can be exhausting! LOL
After seeing the POWER BOAT ride and wanting to go right away – the little guy got nervous!

I had purchased the tickets for he and I – and while standing in line he said to me –

“Papa – can we get a refund”?

“No” I said.

“PAPA – I am scared – will you hold onto me”?

OF COUSE and I did and he loved it – wanting to go again!

About to start out – Bode and I in the back seat – where it seemed all the water came in and on top of us!

Papa’s World – inside our new home – Part 5 – Cameron Woods – Oceam Isle Beach – N.C.

Hallway entrance to master bedroom – great grandmothers desk ( Sherry) numerical location of our prior home – lamp that was a shower present ofr her mothers wedding – a door stopper that belonged to my parents and grandmother – family picture and Mount Nebo church done by my son in law Mike. And a large family history picture of the grandkids to the right.
In the master bedroom looking back to the hall way entrance. We sold all our furniture with the old house – so everything we had to buy and shop for.

The bedroom outfit in each bedroom and all the chairs and couches and kitchen table – end tables – stand for TV and desks in office. Outdoor patio and front porch furniture.

This was given to us as a wdding present form a fellow emplyee who worked with Sherry in the front office and has hung on our bedroom wall in every home we have lived in together. This being home number six!
Our first king sized bed we have purchased – along with a couch that pulls out into a twin bed that Bode used when they were here – all three grankids had a bed to sleep in.

We were worried about beds to sleep in – and we have enough plus our office ( blow up queen mattress to sleep both families) plus we needed storage for clothes and items – by planning with extra drawers and arranging coat closets and linen closets plus the overhead storage in the garage – we have come up with ample space along with oversized night tables and storage shelves under one bed.

This was given to us on 6-25-1982 from Pastor Dan who married us that day in Portville N.Y.

And has hung on every wall of every house we have moved into.
