We had dated for a year and a half prior to the day we were married.

Sherry had two daughters from her first marriage.

I had two sons from my first marriage.

We had very little money, but we made it work.

I kept a few friends, and she kept a few friends –

But other than that, we made new friends together.

We lived in a three-bedroom home with one bathroom all the way up to the end of –

The East Windfall Road in the Portville, N.Y. school district-

The school was ten miles away!

The driveway was 1/10th of a Mile long up a gradual slope to the house –

And the house had a large green lawn all around it!

Back then, I had a push mower – gas –

And it took three days to mow it!

The driveway alone was 1/10th of a mile in both directions and about six feet of mowed grass on either side.

On the upper lawn was a fire pit.

The neighbor at the end of the driveway, you could not see because of the trees –

And the other two neighbors –

One you could see way across the field, and the other you could not see!

We were isolated!

But – as the two daughters grew –

So did the school activities and church-

Both – ten miles away.

Many round trips were needed, and my sons were six to eight miles beyond that!

Most of the ten miles were 35 to 45 MPH!

Sherry – in the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon.

We spent a week on the island at an all-inclusive resort.

At the last minute-

The travel agency called and said our prior destination in the Bahamas was canceled –

Due to renovations, this was available, and they gave the all-inclusive at no cost!

We took it and flew out of Toronto, Canada!

We were married on a Friday night in our church in Portville, N.Y.

Saturday, we drove over three to four hours to Toronto –

Stayed overnight and flew out on Sunday!

We had many adventures on the island –

Someday I will write about them!

Our life together has been one of gratitude!

We made it work –

Had no money –

And raised four children (my sons stayed with their mother)

I raised two wonderful stepdaughters.

They are the daughters I never had.

And they each had three children –

Debby and Mike – with Kendrick, who will marry Maddy!

Sarah and Maddy are in the front, and Ella is behind them.

Tammy with her twin daughters – Taylor and Cassidy!

Marcus and Tammy with Bode –

The only grandson.

My two sons –

Troy on the left and Shawn on the right.

Today, they still live back in NWPA,

Where they were raised.

But they visit –

And we are looking forward to them coming down once again.

Proud father to two sons!

Today we celebrate 44 years of marriage –

I would not change a thing!

My love and soulmate-
