On our last day home – we packed the little ones into the car and drove the hour and ten minutes to Cross Junction
to Lake Holiday – where a gated community with guard house sits –
a 227 acre lake in the valley of the blue ridge mountains in the Shenadoah’s.
Mike and Debby have lived here for 16 years –
raising their three girls – in the country.
There are three beaches on this lake – the main one with the marina and club house –
beach three across from that
and this is called beach two –
has a camping ground – volleyball court – playground – boat docks and storage for canoes and kayaks.
A partial sand beach with pea gravel as the sand keeps washing into the lake.
So they put in a small retaining wall and backfilled with pea gravel.
It is shallow close to the edge but within 25 feet – is over your head.
There was no one there – the campground was empty –
the kids had it all to themselves – and later had a tube ride
from a friend of Mike and Debby who stopped by when they saw us at the docks for boats.

The little ones love it here and want to go and see their cousins –
Maddy – Ella and Sarah.
The first two are now in college and Sarah is first year in H.S.
Mike and Debby host family for overnight all the time –
a campfire pit in the back yard –
lights strung amongst the trees.
It is quiet here and the lake about one mile away.
The shallow part as Taylor is standing –
but it drops off quickly and way over your head!
There is a dam here and one time before the lake – all valleys with streams running through them.

the water – well I thought it to be cold –
but they said once you were in – you got use to it –
but as soon as they came out – they grabbed towels
and wrapped up in them and sat in the warm Sun!
Thank you for reading Papa’s World – WHERE FRIENDS MEET THE FAMILY – FAMILY MEETS OUR FRIENDS!
Notice the fashion statements from the three little girls in the shoes! Somehow – the ages just know!
