We have been busy the last year –

Friends have visited – almost all of them –

at different times –

So we have toured D.C.

Played golf ( 2 different times – different friends)

We have just sat back and talked –

We entertained overnight a Movie Star

and a World class musician on the piano – accordion and organ.

We have traveled the country –

We both are into health –

Sherry is a certified Health Coach

after a life of Lab Tech – Office payroll – Billing – Manufacturing –

Manager – Logistics – Outside Sales –

And now a SSC ( Senior Sales Coodinator )

for Juice Plus Company

We travel – her team is countrywide.

We live life for ourselves – our friends – our family

and our kids and grand kids.

We do many things at our church and for our church

Book club ( Sherry has monitored for NINE YEARS !

Wednesday night social ministries

Communion assistants

SAS committee ( Steward ship for all Seasons )

We belong and practice our faith.

OUR LIFE IS FULL
And many people fulfill the above

Papa’s World – Our life at the beach!

Humor – keeps us going!!!

Our life revolves around living near the three beaches in our area.

However, so do friends, family, and GOLFING!

Here is Cindy and Papa!

Cindy and Buck were our neighbors back in WNY in the 90s.

They moved to the Wilmington, N.C. area and then to this golf course called Magnolia Greens-

Just outside Leland and about ten minutes to Wilmington.

We live 38 miles away in Cameron Woods, Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.

We often get together to play golf –

See entertainment or just visit each other’s home.

We have remained in contact all these years and have traveled the world together.

Here we are on a par three and standing where our balls ended up on the drive.

Three weeks before this –

Cindy had a hole-in-one here!

Over thirty years ago –

I had a hole-in-one at Saint Bonaventure golf course.

I had hit first and got it close, but she really put it tight to the hole!

Birdies for both of us!

BEACH LIFE – FRIENDS and GOLFING!

The entrance to OIB at the community center.

We often come here in the off-season-

We purchase a pier parking pass for the season-

Or if we come here in season –

You now have to pay to park.

There are bathrooms here –

And a volleyball court for sand volleyball!

From mid May to mid-October –

We spend almost every day on the beach –

As part of THE PROTECTION FOR SEA TURTLES!

This is our fourth season of being volunteers.

This has become a big part of our BEACH LIFE!

Marcus – TAYLOR and Tammy!

Taylor has applied and been accepted as an INTERN this summer for two weeks –

For the Protection of Sea Turtles –

She did this all on her own and will be spending two weeks with us in August.

One or both of us must be with her at all times.

This past year, she tried out as a Freshman –

And made the JV basketball team.

Then, in the Spring,

She tried out and made the JV soccer team.

Since she was just walking,

She had a love of horses!

Now today she rides and works at the horse barn.

She is very tall – almost as tall as Sherry.

She has a way with animals –

Training their Goldendoodle – Marley –

All kinds of tricks.

For two weeks, she will become part of our daily BEACH LIFE!

Friends are part of our BEACH LIFE!

Here is Bob (my grade school buddy)-

And Pam – his wife – Sherry and Diane, our neighbor who has a summer cottage in Rushford Lake back in WNY!

This is near where we raised our kids in the Olean-Portville area.

BEACH LIFE INCLUDES THEM!

Healthy living and building our IMMUNE SYSTEMS –

Has been part of our life for over twenty years.

Today, we age as healthily as we can in our senior years.

My memory here is the twins –

Taylor and Cassidy –

We’re helping Papa clean up the leaves from our yard in Brambleton, Va.

I am thinking they were perhaps 2 to 3 years old.

If only we could turn back time and once again enjoy these precious moments!

I love the way Maddy has her arm around her grandma –

And how she looks at her face.

Sweet little Ella –

We called her “TINY” –

Today she stands about 5’10” –

No longer the “LITTLE” one growing up!

Bobby – we went to grade school and graduated together.

Jimmy on the right –

We played softball together in the mid 70’s and beyond –

I was at his wedding to Dottie –

We took our kids to the beach when they were young.

We worked together at AOTC-Dal-TILE-

And to this day, we still get together a couple of times a year.

The day Tammy and Marcus were married.

Opportunity came in 1999 –

We transferred to Northern Virginia for Dal-Tile.

That one door opened, and we chose to walk through!

Setting up a future that would not exist today had we not made the choice.

Tammy – who had graduated from college and was living near Rochester, N.Y.

Decided to quit her job and follow us down to NVA!

In doing so –

She met Marcus – they were married, and today we have –

TAYLOR – CASSIDY and BODE!

All because that door-opportunity opened and we went through!

Today – Taylor – Csssidy and Tammy-

Today – Marcus – Bode and Tammy.

We made that choice in 1999, and Tammy followed us to NVA!

Because of that, we have Marcus as our son-in-law and the three grandkids!

Papa’s World – Remember When?

LOL- I do have some memories of when I was in grade school and before.

We were playing “JACKS” on the front porch of our house on North Main Street-

Eldred, Pa.

I only remember one child who was there, but vaguely – there were others.

The conversation came up about “LASSIE,” which we all watched weekly!

I googled “LASSIE” and it ran from 1953 to 1973.

George Cleveland, who played “GRAMPS” for four years –

Died of a Heart Attack July 15th, 1957!

We discussed that while playing “JACKS”!

I would have been eight years old then!

I also remember having a CORN COB pipe.

I do not know where I got it –

But we had a very big red barn-garage in the back yard –

That the railroad tracks ran directly behind it!

It seemed so close that the barn would shake when a train came by.

My father would park his car inside on the wooden planks on the first floor.

There was a door directly in front of the car that opened out, and I would stand there and watch the train as it whizzed by!

To the right as you first entered –

Was a stairway to the second floor where my older brother had installed a basketball hoop!

Under those stairs open to view –

Was a old horse-drawn sleigh.

Black and one seat for two people.

I never knew who had this or why it was there.

I often wonder what became of it.

It most likely was from the 1800s.

Upstairs – the huge room with a wooden floor and the basketball hoop-

Was an open window –

I could stand there and look down the tracks toward the town and see the Whitehawk beef company.

Also, the rear of the Slavins Furniture store and all the neighbors’ houses to that store.

I remember taking cornsilk – dried out –

And putting it in that corncob pipe!

Lighting it and puffing away and blowing the smoke out that window.

I did not inhale – just puffed on that pipe.

That didn’t happen all that often, but just the thought of doing it and getting away –

Well, it was part of my growing up!

I think it was right around the time that I spoke of “LASSIE”!

LOL – just some humor!

I also remember “BLUE BERRY HILL”!

That is what we called the hill with the large TV ANTENAE directly across the street from our front porch.

That ANTENAE was huge – sitting on top of that hill.

I believe it is for a reception for the town for TV.

We used to walk down to Slavins Furniture store and ask if they had any cardboard boxes we could have.

North Main Street of Eldred.PA –

Had a large group of young kids when I was growing up.

We all played together.

Back then, the cardboard had wax on it.

We would break the boxes down that the stoves – refrigerators came shipped in.

You would sit down, grab the front, and bend it back toward you!

Then someone would push you, and down the hill you would go.

The hay-like grass was about a foot high –

And that waxed cardboard made it slick –

And you would slide down that hill, going faster and faster.

Holding the front of the cardboard back toward you –

Gave you some protection in running over bushes that had thorns on them.

If it was going too fast – I just bailed out!

Watching “LASSIE” and sliding down the hill on cardboard-

Was part of my youth growing up!

The other thing before I got my bicycle –

Was going up tos sawmill!

It was just three houses up from my home.

Later in my early teens –

My father bought a membership at Smethport-

My younger brother and I would go with him-

We would start off first, and then he and his friends played behind us!

Back to the Sawmill.

They had a huge sawdust pile-

And we would go there and dig a hole or tunnel in it.
They would come out and chase us away, saying it could collapse.

Looking back now –

It was dangerous!

After a while, they told our parents, and we stopped doing it!

APPLE TREES!

To the right of our driveway –

On the neighbor’s lawn –

A huge APPLE TREE!

At the beginning of the driveway on the left as you turn in –

A smaller APPLE TREE!

Directly in the backyard, to the left of the red barn – an APPLE TREE!

Four houses down the street –

Two more APPLE TREES!

These trees were not only good eating apples –

Some are so tart, and others are juicy yellow ones!

BUT THEY WERE NEIGHBORHOOD AMUNITION TREES FOR APPLE WAR FARE!

Also good for chucking at rail cars as they came by on the tracks!

My early years growing up in my neighborhood of North Mani Street in Eldred, Pa.

This is but a few memories of REMEMBER WHEN!

Sherry’s mother, Barb, and her father, Bill!

They are both gone now, but many happy memories remain.

MEMORIES OF PAST LIFE!

My grandma and grandfather – Nora and David Aiken.

She was Pa. Dutch –

Following the lumber crews and cooking before she met my grandfather.

He was Irish-English –

During the depression –

He would help feed his neighbors from his farm.

He passed away before I was born,

But my middle name is David after him.

They had 11 children-

My mother was the second youngest.

The oldest boy fought in WWI –

And his name was Roy.

He was a dapper man and always came dressed in his three-piece suit with hat in hand.

My grandma lived with us when I was born and stayed with me as both my parents worked.

MEMORIES OF PAST LIFE!

Marcus and Tammy –

When they were first married, and before the twins and the grandson.

Today, the two girls are freshmen in high school.

And the grandson will be going into middle school.

Friends from NVA who all live either in S.C. or N.C.

We still get together-

Papa’s World – Memories revisited!

This is our Cameron Woods Community Center under construction!

I think this was late 2020 or early 2021!

Today – it is in my opinion-

One of the nicest Community Centers in these developments!

Two pickleball courts.

A fully stocked workout room. Two large bathrooms – women’s and men’s.

A fully usable kitchen –

A large screened-in room with a half dozen teak tables and chairs.

A six person dinning room table and a countertop off the kitchen with two high-back chairs.

Two sitting areas with comfy chairs – couch and fireplace with tv over the mantle.

A small library in the sitting room.

Two entrances from the main building out to the pool, with a third from the screened-in room.

The pool area is completely fenced in –

Two outdoor showers – and a circular step down into the water with shallow water before setting down into the pool.

The deepest part is about five feet.

A large parking lot with numerous mailboxes and a large manicured lawn.

It is a big draw for resales of houses.

MEMORIES REVISTED!

Sherry is pointing at her golf ball with the green and flag behind her!

People are putting out on the green!

This was her drive!!!!!

Her ball hit the cart path and continued all along it before bouncing out to the fairway!

This is a par four, and it ended up over 300 yards!

Excitement at a once-in-a-lifetime experience of playing golf!

LOL – Being a senior, I can very well relate to this!

Before we moved to Cameron Woods Community at OIB-

We stayed off and on with Marcus and Tammy just outside of Leesburg, Va.

Here are Bode, Cassidy, and Taylor walking to the bus stop!

And if you look closely – Taylor is walking MARLEY the granddog!

Marly has gotten so big, and the kids are now in H.S. (the twins) –

And Bode is about to go into middle school!

When Sherry and I travel to Myrtle Beach to go to the outlet stores-

We walk to Starbucks –

She gets an iced tea and I get a cup of coffee!

There is an area that has palm trees, chairs, benches, and artificial grass-

I select my seat and sit down!

I sip my coffee and stand guard over her iced tea.

She continues to shop –

While I PEOPLE WATCH!

She comes back and leaves her packages –

Sips her Iced Tea and then continues!

THIS IS MY HAPPY PLACE!

In 2021, we moved into our new home.

The following year, we started landscaping!

Here is the first phase, and you can still see the mulch along the side of the house.

Now – all the way around is matching stone!

The inside lanai is no longer screened in –

But a clear flexible plastic with a screen is there now-

Turning that room into a three-season room and a fourth with a heater!

Papa’s World – As a SENIOR – AGING!

AGING – Where have all the years gone?

With that being said, I feel blessed!

I am happy with my life- everything I have done and how I lived.

Now – in our SENIOR years-

We have settled in at Cameron Woods Community –

And in a few months, five years have passed!

We have made this home “OUR HOME” in our Senior years!

We enjoy golfing –

Not very good at it –

But – just being outside-

And the chance for a par, or if lucky, a birdie.

I am just happy not to lose my ball! LOL

We live near so many golf courses.

And I purchased a card called “THE TRAIL CARD”!

That gives me a discount on a great number of courses and as a guest-

Sherry also gets a discount!

Today, we are at the age of just being satisfied playing nine holes-

Then going out to dinner as we prefer to play around 2pm.

We have lifelong friends with whom we play or just get together-

Movie – dinner or a show!

Buck and Cindy were our neighbors back in WNY!

Today, we live 38 miles from them in OIB.

We now have a lot of friends who moved to NC and SC, and we meet up with them!

LIFE AS A SENIOR IS GETTING BETTER!

Our Community entrance!

We selected this community because of all the land and trees that are protected and will remain here.

Yet, we are but a few miles from the beaches, shopping, and entertainment.

SOUTH CAROLINA – the border is but 7 miles away.

Our community is quiet, yet we know many people.

Have leased a home nearby after 61/2 years of RVING all over the country!

They are testing it out to see if they like it here and yet still be a day’s drive from families!

Papa’s World – one last day at our daughters house!

We spent a last day before we leave and go to South Carolina

at the house of Mike and Debby’s

with the two granddaughters!

And we spent the entire day outside – chilly but bright sunshine.

This is how they live – hiking – sports – outside – campfires!

Their home is beautiful – set in the fringe of the woods.

He has a complete backyard with different skill learning activities

There is also a zip line and in winter – a run to slide in the snow.

A trampoline – hiking trail –

It also was the second weekend of the community wide garage sale!

We helped them set up and take down.

Had to wear my jacket as it was in the low 60’s!

We planned this so we could spend one last time before we leave.

It is never easy to say goodbye

but the upside will be a place to come and visit

and being retired we will come back often

we are keeping our doctors – and dentist –

This goes for both daughters Debby and Tammy! LOL!

We took them out for dinner the night before

sharing one last meal

missing our oldest granddaughter

who is away at college!

Sarah you just never know what she will do! LOL

Life is never easy – leaving will be hard – but – it is time.

We have all been close in NVA.

For over 21 years.

Proud of Debby – she gave up creamer!!!!

Our last day was spent just like we expected

outdoors – blue skies – sunshine –

a little chilly – campfire the night before

eating healthy –

loving life and watching the girls

have so much fun togehther

laughing – playing –

And then the sun sets in Cameron Woods Community!

Our three oldest granddaughters are jogging down the street toward us!

Sarah – the youngest – is now a freshman in college!

Maddy – graduated from college with an Environmental Science degree-

Now works for a national Environmental firm.

Ella – graduated from college as an Elementary PHYSED teacher-

And now teaches in Loudoun County, VA.

From Sunset to walking the beach at sunrise with family!

It is not often that all three granddaughters are here at the same time.

But the family came for a visit before they all became really busy.

Thus, these pictures are –

REFLECTIONS OF THE PAST and for future generations of the family to see!

That same view facing SW as a storm approaches.

These storms roll in off the coast –

From a westerly direction and sometimes –

From the SW.

The coastline here is unique.

Because of the curvature from Charleston to Wilmington –

Our beaches face almost south!

We are somewhat protected from the major storms as they steer off in a NW direction.

BUT – major hurricanes have hit here in the past 75 years!

Papa’s World – Growing up – streets of Eldred!

This is the school I attended from first through fourth grade.

It was built in the 1800s!

I walked from North Main Street to South Main Street.

I do not know just how far that was –

But in Winter, it was cold!

The hill behind the school was a cemetery-

But also sled riding!

The elementary classrooms were on the first floor.

I do not remember much beyond the first floor,

But there was also a basement.

Second grade was where I first loved books.

Our teacher would read the Bobbsey Twins and their adventures.

I loved that part of class!

Later on in the 9th. Grade it was IVAHOE!

First grade was in the front, and we could look out on the large yard –

That was used for recess.

Ringed by huge Maple trees!

Just around the corner on Mechanic Street was a penny candy store –

Called “AUNT NELLS”!

A favorite place to stop and buy candy!

Many memories for me here.

The firehall –

About a block from my home on North Main Street –

Every night at 10 pm. –

The siren would blow, and “CURFEW” was to be home and off the streets!

As far as I know –

It still blows every night!

Upstairs is where I went to study for my Hunter Safety Course.

I went hunting with my father and my brother-in-law, Bill Luce.

It was with my father up at the end of Barden Brook where the sharp curve to the left is –

Up over the ride on the right –

I tasted my first “BUCK FEVER”!

We had just started down the other side when a six-point Buck walked in front of us!

I emptied my 30.6 – Remington of six bullets-

I was shaking so hard that I missed all six times.

I only ever shot one thing, and that was a rabbit.

I hit the back legs –

It was trying to crawl –

I stepped on the hind legs, and it screamed!

THAT WAS IT FOR ME –

I never hunted again, and I do not own a gun.

My sister Donna –

Who was fifteen years older than me-

She, along with my grandma –

Raised me until she married Bill Luce –

He became the chief of police and mayor of Eldred.

My mother worked at the Viko and then Alcas – now CUTCO.

My dad was a supervisor for South Penn Oil Company.

I remember him taking me to work on the leases –

I would ride with bulldozers with a couple of his men.

I think OSHA would frown on that now!

But being in the woods-

Pulling the tool shed – dog house with that dozer-

They are sweet memories for me.

Bill took me hunting many times.
One time, I got cold and went back to the car.

I played the radio, and when he got back –

The car would not start.

I had run the battery down.

He did not get mad, but next time I had to stay with him!

My brother Roger is on the right.

I do not know who the women were talking to, Sherry!

This was in The Villages before he passed away.

He graduated from the Eldred H.S. some ten years before I graduated from O-E H.S.

He was my HERO growing up.

He left for college, and I moved into his bedroom at the front of the house.

I slept on the floor whenever he came back.

I was eight years old when he left.

Before he passed away –

He would ask us to come and spend the winter with him in THE VILLAGES!

I shall always fondly remember those times as we grew closer.

The WWII museum – and next to it, the expansion.

But when I was growing up

This was Frisbee’s insurance and Slavins’ gas station and furniture store!

I was allowed to roller skate down to Slavin’s gas –

But later, when I got my first bike-

I could go all over town as long as I was home before the street lights came on.

This was maybe a block from my front porch.
The sidewalks were cracked, crooked, but I skated them

For over twenty years –

After we moved to NVA in 1999-

Around 2010-

We purchased our first Tower Garden-

A growing system that uses water, air, and nutrients –

NO SOIL!

IN the late spring – summer and early fall –

This worked well with the temperatures!

But during the winter –

As you see in the above picture-

We moved it inside the garage-

With grow lights and an aquarium heater.

That also worked.

In 2021, we moved into our new home in Cameron Woods Community!

Above this is the back patio.

It is here that we set up the Tower Garden in 2021.

It has been producing ever since.

Every four to six months-

We tear it apart –

Clean it up –

And then start all over again.

In reality –

It now produces twelve months a year, and we are now four and one-half years later.

Sherry – Dottie and Cindy.

We all now live in the state of N.C.

Having moved South from Pa. and NYS.

Friends and neighbors for decades and decades!

We try to get together every so often or go on trips!

Friendships – laughter and close buddies for all these years, and now living in the South!

The skies of the South in the West are close to the Atlantic Ocean in our community!

Because of the curvature of the coast from Charleston, S.C. –

To Wilmington, N.C.-

The back of our home faces almost due South!

This is looking to the West from the road in front of our home.

It is rare to live on the East Coast and yet have the back of your house face South!

WELL-WELL-WELL!!!! Have you made your New Year’s Resolution?

Mine is to enjoy each and every day to the plus!

I gave up losing weight-

Instead, I want to be happy!

Today, we are where we want to be.

LOL – this can be very true!

I make lists of things to do-

I keep a daily calendar of “STUFF” coming up!

I know what day of the week it is by

The fact that church is on Sunday-
Garbage goes outside on Tuesday evening.
Wednesday- the garbage is picked up.
Monday – Wednesday – Friday -the recycles can be taken care of.
And walking the beach could be any day it does not rain! LOL

COFFEE – I look forward to COFFEE each morning!

One cup is all I drink-

Sometimes I drink tea!

But – COFFEE is my tiny pleasure.

I do not drink WINE – or HARD STUFF!

I occasionally have a beer. Light beer – not IPA!

I do not smoke or chew-

I drink mainly ice water.

When I do have a draft beer, it is a local called “RED OAK”!

So – “HAPPY NEW YEAR’S” for me –

It’s mainly being with family, friends, music, songs, and a hug at midnight!

Kind of boring – but that is what it is!

Our dear friends for decades and decades.

Now – we – Shery and I – are the older seniors!

But we still enjoy the friendships of these folks over the years.

Golfing – music and laughter.

To many more good times to come!

Memories are made of songs sung and laughter –

To be enjoyed for a lifetime.

I find a lot of funny sayings – pictures – quotes

that make me smile –

a lot I do not post because they are political

even though they go both ways

being a straight down the middle independant

I find them funny – and I really do not care

what party they are in!

Today – everyone has their phone out –

I very seldom have mine out – only when I am alone

By myself with no one around!

In fact – I have been known to forget it

and leave it home!

I study people as they are doing whatever they are doing

with their phone!

I have never done crossfit in my life!

I have no idea what it consists of.

I really am not a exercise guy

But I do walk

when it is not freezing outside!

As I have written before

I got o bed early

and I get up early

so if you call or text me on the phone

that I really do not use

I will not see it until 5 am.the next morning!

JUST WHO I AM!

When you get older – you will find it!

Although – all through my life

I loved vegetables

Boiled dinners

cukes – tomato’s – beans –

Everything!

Going shopping – I push the cart –

I lag behind –

I sneak things in unseen! LOL

Yep -that is me!

I hope today I brought just a little smile!

A feel better day!

Papa’s World – Just another day in my life.

Here it is almost 1/3 the way through November

The leaves are coming down –

it is chilly at night

and once again it is time to pull the flowers for storage.

I remember my youth –

Fall was hunting season –

I only ever shot one thing in my entire life.

A Rabbit – and it did not die right away –

instead dragged itself along the ground –

I stepped on its hind legs

and it screamed !

That was it for me –

no more hunting –

Sometimes you just
find a corner
and observe
what is happening
around you !

Fall also is the time you get ready to rake and rake

Bags of leaves to be picked up on Tuesday trash days.

That is the day they pick up yard waste.

I usually end up with at least twenty bags of leaves !

Fall’s in my youth –

riding my bike until early dark

sometimes neighbor hood KICK THE CAN !

The neighbor hood on North Main Street

was full of kids.

Games were every day or just hanging out.

The saw mill up the street with a huge pile of saw dust.

The apple trees and chucking apples at the train as it passed.

Sleeping out on the porch – going inside when it became too cold.

Walking down town to the Texaco to see who was hanging out !

Memories of the mind –

Sometimes you wonder

Papa’s World – For eighteen years we have changed lives.

What I remember most from my life before we started this healthy living – was my obsession with fast food.

I loved Mcdonald’s double quarter pounders and fries – and diet Coke!

This would become a whole new way of living for me – one that I started to give up what I loved to eat –

Milk – Sodas(POP) – fast food – fried foods –

The thing I regret the most is Juice Plus was around THIRTEEN YEARS before I even heard of it –

so I lost those years and that time before – 35 years – of eating unhealthy – led to my heart attack!

I am convinced had I not changed – I would not have survived my heart attack – FOUR BLOCKAGES!

Putting the above into my body at that stage of my life – I feel gave me the best chance of survival and I am forever grateful for that.

Today we are in our SENIOR YEARS – enjoying life and health as a lifestyle.

Along this journey of eighteen years – not only have we changed our own lives – but that of our family – friends – strangers – and lots and lots of children!

The day we said YES – to the question –

“IF YOU COULD PUT 30 DIFFERENT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND BERRIES INTO YOUR BODY – EVERY DAY WITH A CAPSULE – WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED”?

On our list – SAN FRANCISCO – and we made it !

We left in traffic in the early morning –

and arrived still in traffic crossing the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE in FOG !

We had a destination – a parking garage –

But it was surrounded by one way streets !

So – drove around and around –

passing our way in a few times

because we could not get to it.

The plus to all that was the garage was right across the street from Pier 39 !

We also had a view of Alcatraz in the bay.

We choose not to go there as Buck and Cindy had been there

and I wanted to spend more time in the city !

We walked and walked Pier 39 –

NOTE – we left Sacramento in 100 plus temps

had to have light jackets as it only got to 64 and foggy.

great place to people watch and also full of unique places.

If you go here – take it all in and search out a good place to eat !

It also was close to where we bought tickets

for a 2 1/2 hour bus tour ( you can hop on and off )

we selected to stay on and then walk when we got back.

I also recommend you walk to the end of Pier 39

where you can see hundreds of huge Harbor Seals

all barking and moving around on floating docks!

In the morning routine, I have maintained for years – first I shower – along with the teeth – shaving, etc.

Then after getting dressed – it is now around 6am.

I go to the kitchen and make my cup of “COFFEE”!

Then it is onto my computer – reading emails – deleting and finally –

I read the Washington Post online – skipping what I did not want to read and reading other stories

and the sports section.

All the while as I sip my coffee – this is the only cup I drink for the day!

Recently – The Juice Plus Company released “LUMINATE”!

All are made from natural flavors from BERRY and MANGO

and flavored with other NATURAL FLAVORS!

The above ingredients of “LUMINATE” are low in calories!

Just a glass of water – around 8 oz.

Pour in the packet and stir until dissolved –

Papa – this picture was taken shortly after my Heart Attack

but before my FOUR BY-PASSES OPEN HEART SURGERY!

I really should not be here – I had a 100% blockage and three other partials!

I made it because in my mind I had changed my eating habits and “GONE HEALTHY”

Eight years before. The damage of slow arteries becoming clogged –

was 40 years in the making!

And in that journey – my wife convinced me to take a supplement –

which through research in major medical facilities worldwide –

showed that arteries could be opened by taking a combination of BERRIES!

I am convinced had I not changed – I would have died that day!

Today – ” IT IS A GREAT DAY TO BE ALIVE” ten plus years later!

Everyone celebrates their birthday on a special day !

It is very rare to celebrate your birthday with your child !

But – how rare is it to celebrate your birthday

with TWO of your children !!!

Nine years ago the twins were born –

43 years ago – Tammy was born –

all on September 3 rd. !!!

The twins had to be delivered early

The doctor said Taylor was growing and Cassidy wasn’t !

And so it has been all their lives

They grow at the same pace now

Alike but different – same as their size –

one athletic ( Cassidy ) Gymnastics –

one who loves and rides horses ( Taylor )

both who adore their mother and MORMOR ( SHERRY ) Mothers mother !

We took a little trip to Winchester Va.

To meet up with our granddaughter & her mother

to celebrate the granddaughter’s birthday !

But first we had to stop at Linda’s business store

As we had something to give to her.

The business is Natural Health & Fitness Solutions – LLC.

This was a first for both of us

and I was very impressed as I looked around.

The hours are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY !

I actually looked at almost everything –

And I noticed some photo’s on the wall

Of before and after of some of her clients !

The pictures and numbers were remarkable –

INCHES AND POUNDS LOST –

One lady had lost 20 some inches and 112 lbs. !

I saw the focus being on WHOLE FOOD !

EXERCISE – and COACHING !

We – have tried to maintain this thought ourselves

and it is not easy

but then – HEALTH IS NOT EASY !

Once again I drive – up and up – hairpin turns –

We are going to Yosemite –

The drop offs are a thousand feet –

There are no guard rails – the berm drops a foot

and then it is straight down !

later we would drive on the road at the bottom

There is no other way to describe it – 15 MPH is too fast !

I would constantly pull over at the spots to pull over to let traffic pass !

They would take the turns in the other lane –

Too many in hurry – unsafe drivers out there !

In the distance you can see El Capitan –

Site of the movie FREE SOLO !

This pristine area has been preserved for one reason –

President Roosevelt !

Captured – with the view – on the back spare tire –

FAITH HOPE LOVE !!!

As we made our way through the park –

many sights and scenes unfolded before us –

I am breaking this up into parts

as there is just so much to capture and so many pictures.

Papa’s World – hiking with the grand kids – Veeren Memorial Park – S.C.

We had driven past this park dozens of times as we went to golf and also after we bought our lot!

Always saying – we need to stop and check it out –

might be a good place to bring the grand kids as they all

like to hike and explore!

So – we did and then when they came down – we went for a hike –

out through the marsh – into the trees – a sand trail – pathway –

I had a map as it splits off several times!

I guess in the warmer months you will see gators in the marsh!

The little ones are always curious – exploring – seeing and asking questions!

But – they also stay close – ever watchful –

and tend to hang with MorMor!

For the past 18-plus years – we have been on a quest to AGE HEALTHY!

The fountain of youth – well – as far as I know- doesn’t exist – so we do all we can to maintain our health – stay active and enjoy life to the fullest!

We eat the above every day – through solid foods and supplements!

We both are near our mid-seventies – exploring life and now living what is called here in the South –

THE SALT LIFE near the beaches and the ICW!

We practice the above every day – we do not smoke – have a few drinks here or there and live life to the plus.

Our daughter Debby is a QMND for Juice Plus Company – for almost 18 years we have been doing the Juice Plus program – eating and drinking the supplements.

Papa’s World – healing – what you eat – is who you are.

It is really hard to maintain that habit –

There are so many distractions – so many smells –

Just out walking – the smells of early morning –

we live in a very diverse neighborhood –

and you can smell the cooking for meals as you walk.

And it is mouth watering !

With me – I have given up fast food – milk – ice cream – soda –

I try not to eat red meat –

I stick mainly to chicken and fish.

Small amounts and not everyday.

I like Tuna in a can – solid white packed in water.

I like raw carrots – radish – cuke’s and tomato’s.

I rarely eat processed meat or cheese.

My wife Sherry is a certified health coach –

she watches over me –

we try as often as we can to walk three miles

BUT NOW THE COLD IS HERE.

So- we walk the Mall or go to our health fitness center.

I could live in flip flops the rest of my life –

I am not a snow – ice or cold weather person.

Getting older – watching steps and stairs –

not walking on ice –

And smelling the food where ever you go.

IT CERTAINLY IS NOT EASY !

But – we have to do it !

We are aging – but our goal is to age healthy –

WE ARE WHAT WE EAT !

Papa’s World – High and Low Tides – exceptional.

October is the month for exceptional HIGH and LOW tides!

I did not know that!

No – I did not go to this extreme to see where the tide came up to.

But – from our Lanai one half mile away –

we could hear the BOOMING of the Surf!

So – Sherry looked it up and sure enough

we were in this week of very high and low tides!

So – we went for our daily walk in the morning

Just after high tide had been there

and I captured this photo!

HIGH TIDE CAME UP TO THE BOTTOM STEP

OF THE LIFEGUARD CHAIR! WOW!

And then in the afternoon – I snapped this picture

looking back toward the mainland

and down the beach – that same chair would of been

where the light colored sand is!

This was not even LOW TIDE YET!

I guess this happens once a year in October!

This beach is very wide normally

during normal tides

and very flat and hard surface

you can wade way out if you want

not me – I saw a sand shark caught

within 20 yards of the beach!

A couple days ago – Sherry was working for Tammy –

And I was watching Bode –

It had been raining and I glanced out the back window

to the East –

and saw a sight I never get used to –

A RAINBOW !

Everything was fresh and clean from the Rain –

Even though we have a irrigation system

The lawn and trees and flowers

always react much better to natural rain fall.

The RAINBOW is a extra offshoot of refreshing rain.

One of our many TEAM TRAVEL SOCCER trips with Maddy –

here Ella was not old enough yet –

but she went on to play also

and became a three-year starter in college and team captain,

with one more year to go!

Maddy finished her college career as third and second-team all-conference –

and team captain in her Senior year –

In four years her team went twice to the NCAA Division III National tournament!

MEMORIES OF OUR LIFE AND TIMES FROM THE PAST!

For nineteen-plus years –

Sherry and I have been distributors

and partners in the Juice Plus Business.

This has earned us a residual income over those years –

It has made our life

and we can live our dreams.

Flashback to 2005 – our journey together began at NBC for your HEALTH in the convention center-

in Washington, D.C.

This is another vendor booth –

Here we found a supplement that I have not lost one day in taking for 19 years!

Papa’s World – Surviving a WIDOW MAKER HEART ATTACK – 56 hours after open-heart surgery!

All my life up to 16 years ago – I was a junk food addict!

I thought I was fit – playing sports until my late 40’s!

I ate all the time at McDonald’s – then something changed my life.

Sherry went to NBC for your health in Washington D.C.

I also went to the food court!

That is where she found a supplement that changed both our lives.

At first, I denied I needed it – then three months later I started to take it-

FRUITS AND VEGGIES AND BERRIES – JUICED – DRIED TO POWDER AND PUT IN CAPSULES!

NUTRIENTS OF 30 DIFFERENT KINDS EACH DAY!

It slowly over the years changed my life – I felt better – BUT – unknown to me – I had damaged my heart

from all those years ( 40 plus ) eating junk food and drinking cokes – mountain dew and gallons of milk.

I thought that was good for me.

EIGHT YEARS AFTER I STARTED ON THE SUPPLEMENT – I had a WIDOWMAKER HEART ATTACK!

FOUR ARTERIES INVOLVED – I almost did not make it!

I was rushed from work to the hospital where I had one artery 100 % blocked –

They put a stent in and the PAIN went away – but I was told I had three more that needed to be done!

It was too dangerous – I would have to have an open heart and four by-passes!

ONE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

All this time I never missed a day of my supplements – even when I went into the hospital.

Over 40 published types of research from major institutions from all over the world – convinced me that I was doing something right and not to give it up!

So – on a Monday morning – at 7:30 AM – they started – by 3:00 pm. they closed me up!

At 5:30 pm. they called my wife and daughters.

By 6:30 pm. I was standing!

I never went to the step down – I went straight to my room –

And I was told by the nurses and doctors I was the healthiest heart patient they had ever seen!

They wanted me to do an interview for some kind of research but I declined.

Here I am – 56 hours later standing in front of the Christmas tree – I was home!

I had a 100% – 90% – 60% and 40% blockages. I walked the halls in less than 20 hours –

Everyone told me they had no one like that – I went home and the other people who had surgery

that day were still in the step-down units.

Sherry and Papa – I had a nuke stress test late Jan. I passed with an excellent grade.

I just had all my blood tests – everything was very good – I STILL TAKE MY SUPPLEMENT

of 30 fruits – veggies and berries and now OMEGAS!

Sixteen years ago my life changed and in my mind and heart –

I believe – I am still here – and I STILL TAKE THOSE SUPPLEMENTS EVERY DAY!

Papa’s World – Better Health and weight loss!

My journey to better health and trying to maintain and lose weight is years into a better life journey!

All my life I have battled the weight gained – even staying at the same weight is very hard for me!

On top of all that – I am diabetic – and have to watch the sugars – starches –

I am on Metformin – and currently at 6.7% ALC and Glucose at 115!

My GP wants me “DOWN” to 6.5 or below and Glucose under 100!

On the Plus side – my Cholesterol is 108 – my Triglycerides – are 81 and HDL – is 33.

My VDL Cholesterol is 10 – my LDL Cholesterol is 59 and my LDL Cholesterol is 59!

My weight as of this blog is up and down – 189.6 lbs. to 192.4 lbs. every day!

NOTE: I graduated from H.S. in 1967 at 195 lbs.

I see my GP every four months for blood tests – I consume hardly any sugars –

I do not like hard candy and if I have cake – I do not eat the frosting!

I have for almost nineteen years taken a Food Supplement called JUICE PLUS.

This is where every day I get absorbed into my bloodstream –

nutrients from 30 different FRUITS – VEGETABLES and BERRIES!

All are grown on their own controlled farms with no pesticides.

I also take every day OMEGAS – four different kinds from ALGAE and not fish –

grown on The JUICE PLUS farms – no toxics or fish oil or mercury.

My journey is ongoing – each day – my day starts with coffee – one cup –

yes, I know caffeine may not be beneficial – so I limit it – I drink water the rest of the day.

NO SODA – NO DAIRY(milk) – very little butter or oils,

And I have cut drinking down to be – well – if we are by ourselves weeks at a time – no alcohol.

Going out by ourselves – maybe a draft beer – but most of the time water or unsweetened tea.

Even getting together with neighbors or friends – I have tended not to drink.

I also drink a SHAKE every day if I can – made out of COMPLETE – a product of JUICE PLUS.

A powder – French Vanilla or Dutch Chocolate –

I add crushed ice – water and a cup of Almond milk.

Put it in a blender and mix until the ice is gone –

This I substitute for a breakfast or lunch meal.

It gives me plant-based protein and a host of nutrients.

Eating as healthy as I can has given me control over my weight gain and loss each day.

In the four years I have done this on my own –

I have gone from 205 lbs. to the current 189.6 lbs. thru the 192.4 lbs. daily.

A gradual decline over the years.

This formula has worked for me in keeping it off and of course, there are times I treat myself!

Going out to eat – I almost always look for salads and add on of chicken or salmon.

But – there are times I splurge and cheat a little!

With friends cheating with ICE CREAM which I love – but this is rare –

My journey is my own – with help from my wife Sherry who also has her own journey of better health.

She is a tall woman – and watches what she eats every day and also for almost nineteen years-

has taken the health Supplements of Juice Plus and Omegas.

She also does a shake every day and a drink she makes to clean out the impurities – cleansing as she calls it – from both of our bodies.

We are both 75 years old – living life to the plus one day at a time.

My hope is this can bring hope to those who struggle every day being a part of the Baby Boomers –

and SENIOR population!

Papa’s World – “RETIREMENT” going really FAST!

The home we built to retire in – Brambleton, Va. – just behind the Dulles Airport!

It has been over twelve years for Sherry ( she retired early ) and ten years for me!

We had thought that we would retire in this community in Loudoun County –

But a few things happened.

Our youngest daughter and her family who lived a mile from us – MOVED – not far –

some 16 miles away – but you have to understand – we picked up the granddaughters

every day after school – and there were days we had Bode when he did not have pre-school.

We would walk to their home and they would ride bikes with their parents to our house.

Overnight stays were common – trips to the community pools –

We were involved daily and that changed.

You might say – Well we could drive there – but when you are a senior – TRAFFIC bothers you!

And NVA has traffic – and they are just crazy!

We did not like having to drive that distance after being able to walk to their home.

I know – that is selfish of us – and we loved their new home and they loved being in a single-family home with neighbor kids and country living!

Once there – it was so nice – and to be truthful – our neighborhood was what I call a –

“GARAGE DOOR NEIGHBORHOOD”

It goes up when they leave for work – closes and opens again

when they return and closes again.
that’s it!

Outside of a couple neighbors – we had no close friends – it was always in transition.

A beautiful place – a growing community – four High Schools and only one when we moved there.

Our home was beautiful – we walked the fifteen miles of trails daily.

I would sit daily in retirement on the front porch and see dozens of people walking or biking by –

But I knew none of them!

I spent my time grooming the yard – we planted flowers that came back each year –

I hand-dug and planted three Crepe Myrtles and three green-type trees that went straight up

by the fence – I had a wild strawberry patch that the twins would sit down and eat one by one.

Cassidy would tell me how soft the grass was on her bare feet and how cool it felt in the shade.

Living here in retirement was our goal when we built it – we watched as the neighborhood

grew and grew – expanding – schools being built –

a complete town was built with a bank – markets – stores – theater – library and multiple restaurants.

A fifteen-acre park with basketball courts – tennis courts – playgrounds at different sites –

a large pond and huge boulders with waterfalls.

Three community pools were opened.

A sports complex – ball fields soccer fields and cricket fields were submitted and the over 200-acre park with all this was completed after we left!

Brambleton was and is now a destination point for people who work in D.C.

And the Metro came after we moved!

The Washington Commander’s headquarters was five miles away.

We could have driven three miles – hopped on the Metro and went into D.C. or got off at the Dulles International Airport to fly out!

After a short one-half-hour drive we were in the famous “HORSE COUNTRY” of Middleburg –

Where Jackie Kennedy rode horses and Christopher Reeves fell and became Paralyzed.

Then the second reason happened in our retirement – the bottom fell out of the stock market –

The 401K dropped like a lead balloon – it burst!

We lost and we lost big time – 33% disappeared overnight!

We still had our pensions – small as they are – our lifeline Social Security –

which after 79 1/2 years between us we paid into instead of wages and benefits – AND EARNED!

And we had Sherry’s home-based business going on 19 years –

with a monthly income – The Juice Plus Company has been very good for us!

We could survive but it was very expensive – where we lived –

the highest per income in the country!

BUT – the housing market took off and we gained what we lost in the 401K back in the house.

TIME TO SELL AND MOVE!

We would leave our families – but only be a seven-hour drive away –

and go to warmer weather!

The area we had always liked was the area of Wilmington, N.C.

and South of that!

I started to google and found a condo in Ocean Keyes , North Myrtle Beach – S.C.

That would give us time to research and find a place to live!

This was the two reasons we decided to sell and move South – leaving family and friends.

Our journey into retirement had its dreams and pitfalls – but we found our end of the rainbow-

I hope this gives inspiration to those who go into retirement and have to make changes.

My life today could have been much different!

In 2013 – November –

After I arrived at work, my left shoulder was sore!

I thought it was because on the Friday before – I had manhandled five Tile Table Saws –

not only were they cumbersome – but large boxes –

I had to break the skid down because it was too big to put into the storage racks.

I transferred to NVA and told management that I no longer wanted to supervise people –

I just wanted to work – do 110% and go home!

I wanted to retire and at that time I was six months away from retirement.

At 11:00 am. I finally got caught up – and my shoulder had turned into my left arm killing me!

I sat down at my desk and a fellow employee came out into the warehouse –

took one look at me

and asked if he should call an ambulance –

I said”YES”!

He came back and gave me water and two baby aspirins!

They came and put me on a stretcher –

I was having a “HEART ATTACK” –

My arm hurt so much that I would be relieved if you cut it off!

I had for forty years eaten fast food – soda and dairy before I changed eight years previously.

They rushed me to the hospital operating room in Fairfax –

I was told I was having a “WIDOW MAKERS HEART ATTACK” –

thank goodness I had changed my eating habits to drop fast food

and dary eight years before –

but the damage to the arteries had been done.

They put a stent in and the pain stopped!

But – they told me I had to have three more!

They also told me on the day I was supposed to have it done –

they could not do it!

It would be too dangerous and I had to come back and have “OPEN HEART SURGERY”!

Including the stent!

I was distressed –

this was a major operation – would I survive?

I had been taking a supplement –

FRUITS – VEGGIES and BERRIES – 30 of them daily for over eight years!

And I had never missed a day.

And I did not miss even through the surgery – I firmly believe this is what kept me alive.

Now – I had the four by-passes – I was up and walking 10 hours later – they sent me home –

less than forty-eight hours after closing me up –

they wanted me to be a part of a study they were doing –

they told me “YOU ARE THE HEALTHIEST HEART PATIENT WE HAVE EVER HAD”!

I declined – I did not want to travel back and forth.

To this day – going on nineteen years –

I have NEVER missed a day of those supplements!

It has now been TEN and HALF YEARS since those by-passes!

I get tested – blood tests every FOUR MONTHS!

Here are my results for May.

Because of the WIDOWMAKER HEART ATTACK – I TAKE MEDICATIONS

and am told that will be for the rest of my life!

CHOLESTROL – Range – 100 – 199 – my results: 108!

TRIGLYCERIDES – Range – 0 – 149 – my results: 81!

HD CHOLESTROL- Range- 39 or above – my results – 33! ( I need more strenuous exercise – I am 75!)

VDL CHOLESTROL – Range – 5 – 40 – my results – 10!

LDL CHOLESTROL – Range – 0 – 99 – my results – 59!

I am a low diabetic – type two.

I take medication – I eat hardly any sweets – no soda – no dairy –

AIC – They want me below 6.5 % I am at 6.7%

I will try the diet to control this –

so far I have lost over 10 lbs in the last six months.

I am bouncing between 189 and 193 –

I graduated in 1967 at 195!

GLUCOSE – Range – 70 to 99 – my score: 115 –

I am working on this and it came down from the last blood test.

Overall – I am happy with my blood tests –

I keep trying –

I am dedicated to my Juice Plus –

I will always take them each day.

We moved here when there was but one high school –

when we moved on they were just opening the fourth high school.

Maddy attended the Univerity of Lynchburg for four years – and played soccer all four years.

Ella ( who attends Randolf College and plays soccer) will be a senior next fall –

We as a family traveled as a family – renting a AIRBNB –

So we could participate in the games played when they played each other!

Papa’s World – Family ties in pictures!

Ella – soon to be 21 – Sarah – soon to be 18 and Maddy – soon to be 24!

When they were small – we would take them into D.C. – either the Metro or drive-in.

They loved it – one time we took the Metro to Arlington – walked the cemetery –

and then walked across the 14th. street bridge and walked D.C.!

Sherry has had her “TEAM GENERATIONS” for Juice Plus for 19 years!

She and her two daughters started to bring health and nutrition to families.

Children between ages of 4 and 19 are free if an adult has purchased the product –

and continue to be free as long as that adult continues!

Here is part of her team – all from up and down the East Coast!

On one of our visits to friends in WNY on Lake Chautauqua – riding in a boat – laughing and having so much fun – we have known each other and were neighbors for years and years!

Taylor – now 13 going on 14 – Bode – now 9 soon to be 10 and Cassidy – now 13 soon to be 14!

They lived just a mile from us – then they moved to the other side of Leesburg –

We sold our home and moved to OIB, N.C.

Trying to be as helpful as we can and understanding those who are less fortunate!

Papas World – the angels of my life – looking down.

I am the only one left now –

First was my brother Mike who left us way too early –

I do not have many pictures of him – but I have his image –

for as long as I live in my mind.

Curly headed little red head – always smiling –

giggling – I can still hear him.

And what a golfer he became –

the first one to hit that ball 300 yards or more.

On the old number one at Smethport Pa.

The one that runs along the highway – I was with him when he did it.

He drove past the green and into the yard behind the green!

That had to be 350 yards and a little grade uphill!

He was mostly a par golfer and had he been able to putt –

Well Gene Fazio once told me –

“IF I HAD HIS LONG GAME AND MY SHORT GAME – I”D TURN PRO”!

Gene was one of the finest golfers in our area and there were a lot of them.

My sister Donna – me – my brother in law Bill – my brother Roger and our mother Mary

One by one they passed away – first Donna –

my sister who was 15 years older than me-

Who rasied me until she she was married to Bill and moved out.

She was the most kind and considerate person I have ever known.

She always could see both sides and I never heard her say a cross word.

Bill – was second to go – a Korean War vet – a truck driver and Police chief

A Mayor and a wise brother in law – always funny –

he had nicknames for almost all the kids

but he simply called me Tommy or Tom.

We were more friends than brother in laws-

Then it was my Mom – who outlived all her friends –

two children and all her brothers and sisters – cousins –

She was almost 98 years old when she passed.

She was small – always a smile – and very kind.

She was a true baker – she could bake without following a recipe.

Cakes – Pies Homemade bread and rolls –

she did it all and everyone in town knew her.

She would sit on her front porch and they would honk

and holler “HELLO MARY”!

People would pull over and stop and come over and talk with her.

She was Mary – the kind lady – but she also was tough as nails.

She ruled the roost so to speak.

I always listened to her – I did not want to hurt her.

The last to pass in this picture was my brother Roger –

who as I grew up was my idol.

He was ten years older – but in the last ten years of his life

we became very close.

He always lived far away and I lived for any information from him

I would ask my Mom – “DID YOU HEAR FROM ROGER”?

He too played golf – although not as well as Mike –

he was always a little over Par – but always under 40.

He was very smart – having been named “WHO’S WHO”

while in college.

He was a ladies man – he knew how to be a gentlemen –

he was “IT” when it came to the ladies.

Now I am the last – my dad passed from cancer when I was just 19.

I have my two sons –

I have a niece Kelli and another Jen –

I have two great nieces and they have children.

And I have two grandsons from Shawn.

Ryan and Dylan

And I have my soulmate – Sherry – my wife.

Our extended family here whom I love dearly.

LOL – but this little project was like working out – heavy lifting – raking – spreading – and digging!

It took us two years of just looking at it and then deciding it was time –

let the work begin!

Anything behind the mulch and toward the trees and bushes – is protected wetlands –

so we can not do anything beyond what you see here –

there is a drainage ditch and until it gets hot – will have water in it.

Beyond this treeline are several ponds – a catchment system to contain runoff and rain.

We have added a birdbath – a white bobbing bird – and an Oleander bush in the foreground.

This is the downward end – water flows this way and out to the ponds.

We have planted perennials here to come back each year.

The upper end has our birdfeeders which attract many birds throughout the day!

Note the yellow flowers – they were eaten down to the mulch by a deer!

Here you can see the bush I planted last spring – and has grown really big.

Forest “FACES” look back at us in our backyard!

23 Bags of mulch I carried from the front – and opened and dumped for Sherry to spread –

we had to first dig out all the weeds – rake and level the ground –

It was labor – a workout for two seniors almost 75 years old!

Spending the day watching Ella play college soccer – Senior living at our best!

Next Fall will be her Senior year – how the time has gone by –

She will graduate with two majors –

Her plan is to be an elementary Phys Ed. teacher-

Which is right up her alley as she is so good with children!

We try to live these words – caring – helping when we can – Senior living – one day at a time!

Time has passed since this retirement party for Sherry –

but we still maintain a healthy lifestyle –

walking – now doing physical exercises at the SENIOR CENTER – 45-minute sessions of non-stop exercise for seniors!

Living life to the plus one day at a time.

Being helpful to family – friends and neighbors – caring –

Visiting – reaching out –

volunteering at the Memory Care facility near our home –

Organizing the Library –

Living our lives and still helping others.

Staying in contact with our dear friends who now live 32 miles from us.

From back in WNY to now N.C. – playing golf maybe every two weeks.

This is what friendship is like in our senior years!

Part of living and part now of being a senior – but still maintaining a healthy lifestyle!

Papa – walking from the beach to main street of North Myrtle Beach!

Along the way – we have friends – who after social distancing – come to visit!

And – we walk the gated community – through he gate –

and onto the beach!

The gentle surf of the beach – water and sand!

Our friendships go back years and years.

We all lived by one another – then we all moved away

but that friendship has endured time and distance.

Always from afar – but close when we make plans to get together.

Jim and Buck – Jim and I played softball together in the mid to late ’70’s Buck and Cindy were our neighbors and they also knew Jim and Dottie!

We plan golf – card games and word games!

We drink a little beer – sing a few songs – do a shot – and laugh!

We would set up a get together every 4 to 6 months –

We lived near DC – Jim and Dottie Va. Beach and Cindy and Buck – Wilmington N.C.

Now we have moved further South

about 50 miles from Buck and Cindy.

It is easy for us to get together and golf every weekend.

Jim and Dottie are now the Northerners!

We all have taken up a new game – Pickle Ball!

This last time – we got together at our condo – played two days of golf –

and Pickleball has now become another game we shall play!

We all practice good health – Sherry – who is a certified Health Coach – leads the way!

She has her own website and for 15 years has been the one who encourages all of us!

Papa’s World – Years of Memories!

Near us on Sunset Beach – Bird Island – sits the “KINDRED SPIRIT” mailbox –

a 2 1/2 mile walk from the pier South toward the sanctuary of dunes and marshland.

A HIPPIE and his girlfriend carried a mailbox and pole down the beach some 40 or 50 years ago.

Here – up on a dune above the tide line – they dug a hole and inserted the pole and the mailbox

and named THE KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX with a ledger and pen or pencil inside –

people would hike the deserted beach and leave their thoughts written down on the ledger.

Now all these years later and many new mailboxes and posts later –

two benches have been added – a large piece of driftwood sits on top of the sand dune with a metal plaque honoring both of these people.

And to this day – me included – I have sat there and put a note in the current notebook journal.

I was told that those journals have been collected and donated to a museum –

All these years – THE KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX represents the hopes and dreams

all started by a HIPPIE and GIRLFRIEND!

A mother ( Sherry ) and her two daughters (Debby and Tammy) are so alike – generations –

Sherry – from Mount Jewett, Pa. – A Swedish community settled in the 1800’s.

Both daughters followed us to NVA from NYS – and remained in NVA with their families.

Both helped their mother form TEAM GENERATIONS – which is her Juice Plus Team –

For over 18 years teaching health and nutrition through healthy eating.

Now passing that down through the six grandchildren –

thus forming “TEAM GENERATIONS” for future families to come.

Our final home – this being the third one we have built and now in Ocean Isle Beach –

CAMERON WOODS COMMUNITY –

Situated on the mainland side of the ICW –

We are four miles to OIB and six miles to Sunset Beach.

Eight miles to the border of N.C. and S.C.

A thirty minute drive to North Myrtle Beach and a fifthteen minute drive to Shallotte and Calabash.

We also are in the middle of over 30 golfcourse within 1/2 hour drive.

Our dream has come true!

Before Sarah – Maddy and Ella – now 23 and 20 years old.

Ella is in her Junior year of college –

Playing soccer all three years and captain this past year.

Maddy played all four years and captain her senior year.

Ella will have two degrees when finished –

Maddy graduated with a Enviomental Science degree and is now employed in one of the largest environment firms in the country as a Gelogist-Scientist!

It seems like it was yesterday –

after 32 years with American Olean Tile- Dal Tile Company-

OWED BY – National Gypsum – Private – Armstrong and finally Mohawk Industries –

Sherry retired!

She had worked in the Olean, N.Y. plant –

Transferred to Chantilly, Va. – Fairfax – two different locations – manager –

and in her last years as an Outside Sales Rep covering NVA and W.V.

Recognition from her peers associates and family members-

It was time to step aside – enjoy life and pursue her dream of health and nutrition.

Becoming a Certified Health Coach for the Juice Plus Company.

And an SSC for THE JUICE PLUS COMPANY and RETIREMENT INCOME.

Debby to the bottom left – in the above picture and then this one of Tammy and Marcus.

Her career spanned many years and different job categories –

When she accepted the transfer to NVA –

at the time she was Logistics Manager for American Olean-Dal Tile

at the manufacturing facility in Olean, N.Y.

Sherry – Craig and Debbie – a final farewell for a job well done –

Taking the Chantilly operation from ONE MILLION per year in sales to over SIX MILLION in yearly sales –

then accepting the OUTSIDE SALES REP job for the NVA and WV area.

Holding a Business degree from Houghton College –

numerous inplant positions –

After 32 years – it was time and her colleagues recognized her!

Playing golf in our senior years was one of the reasons we moved South – warmer weather and out of the ice and snow and really cold weather.

Being close to so many golf courses – and the Local rates – has made it possible for us to play here rather than the expensive rates where we came from!

When we moved we took with us the home-based business we have been doing since 1996 – and today that income – monthly – has given us the freedom to expand our living –

We are both retired – with SS – Pensions and 401K – but in today’s World – that is not enough.

This has allowed us to live our dream – and enjoy retirement.

The Juice Plus Conference was held in October in Charlotte, N.C. at the convention center.

The Conference is a yearly event in the Fall – with another yearly leadership conference in the Spring.

Thursday – Friday all day and ending up on Saturday a half day and the public is invited to the Saturday day.

Thursday night is celebrated with a party usually from 7pm. to 9pm.

The agenda is advertised – break out sessions and the main stage with music – speakers –

results of research and ongoing events and company information.

A big part is the recognition of partners and advancements.

A marketplace where you can buy gifts or apparel – open for the entire conference.

The opening main speakers are on the main stage, here Jason Dorsey spoke for over an hour to an audience of 4000 plus partners.

Papa’s World – Charlotte, N.C. – the city!

We drove some three and one-half hours West to Charlotte, N.C. for the Juice Plus Conference.

This was my first conference since before the pandemic.

Mainly because I did not like flying – I had COVID twice – and I felt being in a plane was not such a good idea!

But – we were 191 miles – a distance that made it driveable in a car!

We stayed in an AIRBNB in the city – a little over one-half mile from the convention center!

So we walked and walked – everywhere!

Averaging 10 to 15,000 steps a day! Good exercise – and easy to find our way around.

Charlotte is a beautiful city – we walked in pairs or groups for safety – but never once did we feel uncomfortable.

The convention center welcomes us – signs – and lots of people.

Just across the street from the convention center – and a very nice park to walk through!

The park is across from the convention center through which we walked for breaks.

I do want to go back and hope that they will choose to hold another conference here!

TEAM GENERATIONS – inspiring healthy eating from grandparents – mothers – daughters and grandkids!

A mother and two daughters formed this team in 2005 – 2006!

In NVA after attending a beneficial living presentation.

Sherry first saw the product at an NBC for Your Health in Washington, D.C.

Asked if she could get the nutrients from 30 different Fruits – Vegetables and Berries in a powdered form encapsulated – with published research on the benefits of such a powder –

SHE REPLIED, ” SIGN ME UP – I DO NOT EAT ENOUGH VEGETABLES”!

Almost 18 years later – the TEAM GENERATIONS has expanded into multiple generations –

sons – daughters and now grandchildren –

three generations of healthy eating and healthy habits!

Today – the Children’s research has been expanded to a child- –

with a sponsor – starting at age 4 –

until their 26th. birthday –

will get fruits and vegetables free for all those years as long

as the sponsor continues with their own order!

Papa’s World – Riding the streets of Charlotte in – “THE FUNNY BUS”!

One of the off-time events we scheduled – was a group event on “THE FUNNY BUS”!

A way to “SEE” Charlotte while laughing – a few drinks and a really fun time!

As the tour begins – party hats – Juice Plus hats – raising glasses – jokes – and lots of smiles!

Sari and Levi – going to be a great time – teams bonding together.

Our tour guide – “TOM” started us off – and keeps the mood light – and shouting out to the people in the streets – bars and grills – a blast – bonding experience.

Papa’s World – Arriving in Charlotte, N.C.

The wall in our rented AIRBNB in downtown Charlotte –

we have eight of us all part of “TEAM GENERATIONS” for the JUICE PLUS COMPANY.

Dinner out after our first full day – once we parked the car – we walked everywhere we needed to be.

Right in the heart of the city.

Yes – we stayed right in the middle of the skyline you see here.

Our view at night – everything lit up – we were a 13-minute walk to the convention center

where the Juice Plus Conference was held.

The first full day was a breakout session and I elected not to go –

The ladies of TEAM GENERATION are on their way to the Convention Center.

My view while I worked on my blog! I did leave once and walked to the Convention Center –

I went into what I thought was the building but a security guard directed me to a side door-

She told me to go into the Hilton and they would direct me to the Center.

I walked into the middle of a big sports production –

lights – cameras and action!

A crescent-shaped both were set up with five people – just like you see on NFL TV!

There were people with cameras – big ones with microphones –

And very tall basketball players in all types of different uniforms!

I had walked right into the middle of MEDIA DAY for men’s BASKETBALL of the ACC!

ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE!

I asked a reporter how to get to the Convention Center and he directed me out the back door –

turn right – follow the metro tracks – There was a sidewalk – that led to the Center.

I came in the back door and ran into one of our Team members –

She told me where to go for my packet!

My first walk alone in the big city – I got lost – and ended up in the middle of a TV set – but found my way

to the place where the JUICE PLUS CONFERENCE was being held! LOL

Papas World – It is early – I look around – almost done!

It is early Thursday morning – I awoke at 3 am.!

Too much on my mind!

I look around – the car is packed

The next to final trip to Tammy and Marcus house

where we will establish a home base.

Then one more trip to the storage unit –

and finally the last trip – lock up and leave

We are changing – evolving – dreaming

a new adventure awaits – it is fun selecting places

seeing rentals – looking at real estate for sale!

We will go to where our eyes take us

but stay where our heart finds home!

We will seek warmth – sunshine & golf!

It is finally time to do that!

Living in NVA is $$$$ to golf!

Owning a home in NVA – well taxes are high

as is the HOA – and while we love our dream home

At our age – maintaining it is costly.

New roof – trim painted outside – new HVAC

A new fence was on the horizon –

Our home I must say is nearly perfect

The lawn I was told looks like Augusta National!

New Bamboo flooring – new fridge –

But we loved it and the way of life.

I guess it was the pandemic and the stock market that gave us thought.

Now was the time – the value was up and the market strong.

We have choices – places to live –

friends and family to visit

and God willing – grand daughters soccer to watch.

Once again we will laugh with the friends we have held close

for almost 38 years.

She will continue her home based internet business

Health – family – nutrition where ever we go.

Yes – I look around – almost finished – today I watch Bode

Sherry will help Tammy who is getting ready to reopen her store

529Kidsconsignment – closed because of the pandemic.

Taylor and Cassidy have tennis lessons

Yes – I was up early – yes I look around – time for coffee –

Almost done – almost 14 years here –

our dream home – now another dream begins

This is me! LOL, but we do enjoy golfing – by ourselves or with friends!

Sherry and Papa – married for over 40 years – together for 42 years! Living now what is called THE SALT LIFE!

We are retired – although for the past sixteen years – Sherry has owned and operated a network marking business!

Allowing us to retire in N.C. in Cameron Woods Community, Ocean Isle Beach!

We are four miles to one beach and six miles to another beach.

Here we are with a neighbor on Sunset Beach – relaxing in the sun on a weekday – living what locals call THE SALT LIFE!

We found this little piece of paradise – where the temps are moderate during FALL – WINTER and SPRING!

It can and is HOT in the summer – but we find the ocean – with a breeze – more than comfortable.

5 to 10 minutes and we are sitting on the sand!

The beach was a major factor in choosing this area – but also – love to golf!

We are within thirty minutes of over 30 golf courses!

Four of them are right across the street!

We can choose whatever we want to play!

Now – we are not all that good – but being out in the open on the golf course is what we love.

We have purchased what is called the first tee – which gives us major breaks in what we pay each 18 holes!

32 different courses – just call up and make an afternoon tee time!

We like playing afternoons as most people like to play before noon!

Major shopping – outlets and big box stores – are only a thirty-minute drive for us down Myrtle Beach.
