Papa’s World – Yosemite – Bridalveil Falls – El Capitan

GOOD MORNING !

Traveling Yosemite in a day – really not enough time !

But – we made the most of it

stopping often –

A must stop
BRIDALVEIL FALLS
Trying to capture a close up

We parked and started the walk to the falls !

It was a lot cooler in the shade – 104 in the Sun !

Continue the walk – slowly watching each step – because of the rocks !

A much needed rest stop with the falls behind us.

It was okay walking but you had to watch your step !

Sherry – always a step ahead – asking ” WHERE ARE YOU ” lol

Rocks everywhere!

Of course I am the one stopping to take the pictures

and making sure I do not misstep !

However – after almost a mile – we made it !

Near the base of the falls

And there was a CROWD of people – standing in the mist !

I decided to stay back in the shade with Buck.

The Sun was torture –

and beyond those people and rocks –

you could climb back to the bottom of the falls !

BLUE JAY up near the falls

By this time the ladies decided it was not worth the risk –

to attempt to climb over the wet rocks

some people told them people were slipping

and falling on those big rocks !

One last picture at the falls

We decided to take one last picture –

Cindy and Sherry standing on the big rocks

just before they get all wet !

And Cindy said she would stand on a rock so she would be as tall as Sherry

Sorry Cindy – didn’t work ! LOL

Regroup and start the walk back down

Some parts of the path were smooth

and they were working on different bridges

WHERE FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEET

Papa’sWorld – Yosemite – natural wonders – El Capitan

Cindy & Buck

Once again I drive – up and up – hairpin turns –

We are going to Yosemite –

Cindy – Sherry and Buck

The drop offs are a thousand feet –

There are no guard rails – the berm drops a foot

and then it is straight down !

Cindy and Sherry
later we would drive on the road at the bottom

There is no other way to describe it – 15 MPH is too fast !

I would constantly pull over at the spots to pull over to let traffic pass !

They would take the turns in the other lane –

Too many in hurry – unsafe drivers out there !

Sherry – with a wonder in back of her

In the distance you can see El Capitan –

Site of the movie FREE SOLO !

President Roosevelt

This pristine area has been preserved for one reason –

President Roosevelt !

ON THE BACK OF THE TIRE

Captured – with the view – on the back spare tire –

FAITH HOPE LOVE !!!

Buck Cindy Tom Sherry

As we made our way through the park –

many sights and scenes unfolded before us –

I am breaking this up into parts

as there is just so much to capture and so many pictures.

Papa’s World – MUIR’S FOREST – Part two

GOOD MORNING

As we walked among the giants – the peace and quiet became evident –

from watching the man push his wife up the path in a wheel chair

to the lady who quietly said ” Would you like for me to take your picture ” ?

Buck – Cindy – Sherry and me

And that is how we managed to have a picture

with all of us standing inside this huge Redwood tree !

Tom

And then the tree that I hid inside and peaked out –

I am told that the really big Redwoods are further North

Where you can drive a car through –

To think this tree is between 600 and 1600 years old !

And then we entered Cathedral Grove –

Instantly all was quiet

Sherry – Buck – Cindy

A church like atmosphere –

everyone was hushed at the grand gathering of trees !

Walking among them – looking up and then ahead –

taking in the beauty of these giants !

Sherry

Solitude – walking – looking – admiring – in awe !

Our day was coming to a close –

after nearly two hours walking among the trees

Papa’s World – MUIR’S FOREST – REDWOODS

Finally – after visiting Muir’s Beach – it was time to retrace our route

and back to the reserved parking lot – to visit THE REDWOODS !

MUIR’S FOREST IN THE DISTANCE

So many pictures – so much awesome forest and trees –

that I have decided to break this down into a series.

MUIR WOODS

I have never seen a forest such as this –

so pristine – so awesome –

But – in the middle of all this –

a flash from the past –

A PAY PHONE !

Buck and Tom

You look up and up and still up !

Upon entering – a telling of Muir Forest
The history

This forest has been here for

some say 1600 years at least !

The roots are shallow

It was explained to me – that this is the perfect storm so to speak.

One – between 42 and 68 degrees –

FOG – these are the only trees to absorb moisture through their leaves !

The protection from the winds in their valleys.

And – their root systems being shallow –

they intertwine with one another !

Sherry and Cindy

The Sun is hot -the shade is cool !

Buck
Cindy

I wonder why all the older trees hollow out on the bottom ?

INTERESTING

Thank you for reading Papa’s World –

the Muir Forest Redwoods will continue.
