Papa’s World – Writing blogs – helps my memory!

After turning into my senior years –

I sought a way to help me remember events and happenings in our lives.

Family – friends – neighbors and events –

These memories I wanted to capture and, in the process, exercise my brain!

So – with the encouragement and help from my wife Sherry-

I started my blog site on WordPress!

Now, I have thousands of pictures stored on my phone camera and on the blog site!

A PICTURE TO ME IS A MEMORY JOGGER!

Keeping a sense of humor –

And that which to me has some truth in it! LOL

If only this were true! LOL

Family is and always has been –

Important to both of us.

Now –

More so in our senior years.

A picture brings those special times –

Every time I see one-

It jogs my memory, and in these blogs –

I write it down!

This was at a historic site in the Shenandoah mountains on Route 7 –

On our way to Winchester, VA, and Lake Holiday, where Mike and Debby live.

Tammy was also with us that day.

It was a fun meeting up, and we went back to Tammy’s, and they went home.

If I remember right –

This estate changed hands during the Civil War-

Several times.

A lot of history here!

Sarah – Debby – MADDY – Mike and Ella-

Maddy was the first grandchild to graduate from college!

University of Lynchburg, where she played soccer for four years.

Her degree was in Environmental Science-

And today works for a major national environmental firm.

Her soccer college days included third team all-conference –

Second team all-conference and captain her senior year.

A conference championship –

And twice going to the NCAA tournament.

Today, Ella has graduated from college, where she played four years of soccer!

An injury at the end of her Sophomore season –

Plagued her for the last two years –

But she pressed on through becoming a captain in her junior year!

Today, she is a Phys-Ed Teacher –

For little children.

Sarah has since graduated from H.S., where she excelled in the arts-

She designed and drew the 75th. anniversary design for the school –

It was painted and placed in two spots in the school, and she also

Designed the cover for the graduation ceremonies.

Today, she is a Freshman in college.

This picture gave me thoughts-

Of all the memories!

Papa relaxing by the fire pit at Tammy and Marcus’ house outside Leesburg, Va.

If you know me –

You know I am not a big sit by the campfire person.

I did all that growing up!

Today – I can and will sit there –

But once the smoke starts coming my way –
I call it quits! LOL

Also – sitting outside in the cold –

Well, into my senior years –

I want warmth.

That is why we both decided to move South!

Since my heart attack and bypasses –

The cold –

Really has an effect on me.

And – I barely drink now –

Except on special occasions.

I am diabetic- and have to watch what I eat and drink!

However, I did enjoy this one time.

It brought back the memory of sitting around the fire pit with family!

A MEMORY CAPTURED WITH A PICTURE!
