In our SENIOR years – we VOLUNTEER –

Once a month – for our church – Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church-

We volunteer for our church on Saturday-

At the Food Pantry!

Sometimes this also involves a Thursday night of packaging for Saturday morning.

Saturday usually goes from 8 am ( if I am on parking)to noon.

From mid-May to mid-October –

We volunteer for the Protection of-

Sea Turtles for Ocean Isle Beach!

During that time, one or both of us walk the East end of the beach for signs of a Sea Turtle laying her eggs.

Sherry is also on a 24-hour one day per week team verification .

At any time during that time period – (midnight Wednesday to midnight Thursday)

She can and has been called out to find the nest and verify or move it according to the tide lines.

We also work to set up and take down for the weekly MONDAY TURTLE TALK!

We are on one of the teams that sit on the nests to monitor until they hatch!

We are also on standby if any team needs help!

Sherry works the booth at the Oyster festival to help raise money –

As we are a volunteer organization,

And need to raise funds to exist.

We also collect food at our Community Center to take to the food pantry.

We choose to live here because it is middle ground to two beaches-

Big box stores –

Where we lived for nine months in North Myrtle Beach.

Over thirty golf courses.

Entertainment and many fine places to eat and enjoy coastal views!

In JULY – 2024- our family helped us celebrate our 75th birthdays at the beach!

We are well into our SENIOR YEARS!
