Papa’s World – Life with Sherry!

Being married for 41 plus years and together for 43 years – you have to have a sense of humor –

which both of us have! LOL!!!!!

We dated for over a year before the engagement led to the wedding on 6-25-1982!

We had no money – both divorced – her two daughters – me two sons – who stayed with their mother.

A lot of road traveling in the early years to share custody both ways.

Our wedding day was on June 25, 1982.

We lived way out in the country – farmland all around us – very private – about two acres of grass to mow and the driveway was 1/10 of a mile long – that had to be mowed 8 feet on either side by hand that first Summer!

Debby – Sherry’s eldest – and Sherry’s father – Bill – first granddaughter of his to be married!

Today Debby has three daughters – Maddy – 23 – Ella – 20 and Sarah 17 –

Mike and Debby have been married for 28 years –

Her father Bill was like a second father to me as I lost my own father when I was 19.

Here we are with five granddaughters – taken before the only grandson – Bode.

Sarah – Maddy – Ella – Cassidy and Taylor – before they could walk.

Today Bode and his mother Tammy – Bode is nine years old.

Sherry with Tammy and Debby and Maddy’s boyfriend – Kendrick and all the grandkids.

Sherry with my sons and their partners and daughter – family!

PAPA’S WORLD – WHEN DREAMS COME TRUE – LIVING THEM TO THE PLUS!

Papa’s World – Through the eyes of our children – our generation lives on – OUR meaning of life.

OUR meaning of life.

My blogs are for this very reason – leaving a legacy for OUR future generations.

Writing – pictures – events – all recorded – but it is the children who will pass it on.

Our granddaughter Maddy – is a senior at the University of Lynchburg – Engineering Science – soccer – life.

Through her we live – we watch – we cheer – and the future generations will know us –

Blogging has become my pictorial journal of all our lives –

To pass on down through the generations to come.

Children are our destiny.

She is the oldest granddaughter.

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – Thoughts – pictures – humor!

A sense of humor – our “WHY” we moved South – snow – ice – now sand and surf!

Equality among men and women – equal pay – equal rights – humanity – law and order – great military strength here and abroad – freedom – voting rights – respect – all I believe in.

I have always seemed to improve – learn – history – believe in God – be myself – loving – human!

Life is short – now in my senior years – living life to the plus one day at a time!

If I am going to play golf – I need patience and humor! LOL

Thanks for reading my little blog for today – PAPA’S WORLD – my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

Never walking alone for he is carrying me! PAPA’S WORLD!

Papa’s World – Pictures tell memories of the family!

It all started for Sherry and me on June 25th. 1982 when we were married – the second time for the both of us – combining my two sons with her two daughters!

Today – both daughters are married with families of their own – living in NVA where we moved from.

My two sons still live back in NWPA and have come down to visit last summer.

The rest of the family has also visited and we look forward to everyone returning!

We still explore and do different things – dressing up for Halloween – driving new roads and seeing as much as possible!

Our friends visit – Bob and I went to grade school and then graduated from the same H.S.

Lifelong friends and now with Pam – his second wife – fun times!

Our only grandson from Sherry’s side – Bode – going to follow in the footsteps of his cousins whom both play and played soccer in college – Bode is going to be another soccer player!

PICTURES TELL MEMORIES OF FAMILY – and now we are living our dream near the beaches!

Papa’s World – One day at a time – living life!

Recently we had lunch on the main street in Ashville, N.C. It was at an Asian eatery – and I ordered a large soup bowl with noodles!

It was only $9.00 – and it was very large – so much I could not finish it!

But – it was so good that if I ever back there I will once again order it!

We lived in WNY until 1999 – and one of the beers I liked was PBR!

It seems in the South it is a cheap beer – oftentimes I will see it for $2.00 a can!

But – honestly – I like it!

This picture in a store brought a smile to my face!

My phone I use mainly to stay in touch with family and take pictures!

Growing up we had a circular dial – and a party line!

To this day I still remember the phone number of my parents and also my sister’s phone.

Our oldest daughter and her family – very important to us – waiting for next summer to see if they come back down!

A typical meal for me – veggies – no dressing – and Salmon – eating heart-healthy – living life to the plus!

Our reason to live here is the BEACH!

PAPA’S WORLD – ONE DAY AT A TIME – LIVING LIFE!!!

Papa’s World – Papa and Sherry – beach & golf and shopping! Retired with part-time income!

This is me! LOL, but we do enjoy golfing – by ourselves or with friends!

Sherry and Papa – married for over 40 years – together for 42 years! Living now what is called THE SALT LIFE!

We are retired – although for the past sixteen years – Sherry has owned and operated a network marking business!

Allowing us to retire in N.C. in Cameron Woods Community, Ocean Isle Beach!

We are four miles to one beach and six miles to another beach.

Here we are with a neighbor on Sunset Beach – relaxing in the sun on a weekday – living what locals call THE SALT LIFE!

We found this little piece of paradise – where the temps are moderate during FALL – WINTER and SPRING!

It can and is HOT in the summer – but we find the ocean – with a breeze – more than comfortable.

5 to 10 minutes and we are sitting on the sand!

The beach was a major factor in choosing this area – but also – love to golf!

We are within thirty minutes of over 30 golf courses!

Four of them are right across the street!

We can choose whatever we want to play!

Now – we are not all that good – but being out in the open on the golf course is what we love.

We have purchased what is called the first tee – which gives us major breaks in what we pay each 18 holes!

32 different courses – just call up and make an afternoon tee time!

We like playing afternoons as most people like to play before noon!

Major shopping – outlets and big box stores – are only a thirty-minute drive for us down Myrtle Beach.

Sherry and Papa at Tanger Outlets – Myrtle Beach – S.C. Thanks for reading Papa’s World – livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

Being retired with an income additional to SS and Pension and 401K –

Has allowed us to select where to live and this is THE SALT LIFE!

Papa’s World – The BILTMORE GARDENS!

To think these magical gardens are over 100 years old – it takes your breath away!

Here is where thousands of trees – plants and flowers were carefully cultivated to bring life back to a land cleared for farming!

I can not imagine the cost of building this and maintaining it; it still functions today!

The arrangements and colors are breathtaking – the entire average surrounding the estate is a result of years of planting trees – shrubs, and plants that flower.

Cindy and Sherry are inside the greenhouse with thousands of plants.

It is stunning that this is still going on all these years.

If you visit – walk the walled-in gardens and visit the greenhouse – you will not be disappointed.

PAPA’S WORLD – The Biltmore estate!

Sherry – standing in front of the 170,000 SF Biltmore estate in Ashville, N.C.

This is hard to imagine such a huge home but we toured the whole thing that we were allowed to see.

Room after room – floor after floor – bowling lanes – pool – workout area and bedrooms and bathrooms.

Today’s cost – I guess somewhere North of $200 million!

View from the back-covered patio porch that was a hundred feet long!

The estate today is a tourist destination with audio tours from room to room and floor to floor.

I would put this on a bucket list of something to see in your lifetime.

Sherry and I were inside – this area was the heart of the house – full of plants – trees and sunken down from the floor.

This was our second time being here – Thanks for reading PAPA’S WORLD – my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

PAPA’S WORLD – THE BILTMORE ESTATE!!!!!! ASHVILLE, N.C.

Papa’s World – Random pictures in Ashville, N.C.

On our exploration – a side trip to Siera Nevada Brewery – just outside Ashville!

We toured and had a tasting – went to the bar – and had a drink and a hot pretzel – great tour!

I found this to be funny – back in WNY – this is the beer I drank – PBR! LOL!

The Woolworth soda fountain where a protest – the first of its kind – occurred in the 60s for racial equality!

This still exists as it did then and we just happened upon it in a store that now is full of local vendors selling arts and crafts!

A visit to this famous Roman Catholic Church with the largest free-standing rotunda in the country!

This church was beautiful on the inside – well worth the time to tour it!

Our time here went fast but we walked several times the city while here.

We also took a bus tour and we drove to The Lexington Glassworks –

where we watched the handblown glass being made!

The process of making glass – was quite interesting as we watched and listened to them as they worked!

Displays of hand crafted glass wares you could purchase – we purchased a small aqua-blue pumpkin that matches some pieces we already own.

PAPA’S WORLD – RANDOM PICTURES OF OUR TRIP TO ASHVILLE, N.C.

Papa’s World – Evening trip to Sunset Beach!

After dinner, I said to Sherry – “Want to go to Sunset Beach – get ice cream and stand on the deck”?

That is Southern Beach Living!

Living the Salt Life!

Our view of the Gazebo on Sunset Beach where we stood with our cups of small ice cream!

This is where the bathrooms – showers and free parking are!

If you turn around – you are looking at the beach – pier and ocean – we stood here and a bonus – there was live music on the pier we could listen to – that is why all the people faced the pier!

Looking West from this spot – the dunes – the pay-for parking lot – and the first row of houses – oceanfront means long walkways over the protected dunes to the beach and ocean!

Because the coastline here is on a curve – the beach faces almost South and a little bit East!

From Charleston, S.C. to Wilmington, N.C. the coast looks like a quarter-moon crescent!

Sort of like a huge coastline bay!

Most storms come up from Charleston and then make a beeline to Wilmington – Cape Fear River area and then onto the Outer Banks!

I believe the last Hurricane to cause disaster damage was in the 50s!

Sea oats on the dune – we can be here in 15 minutes – but we have the island – the ICW and the main coastline between us and the ocean.

So far we have experienced a tropical storm and a grade 1 Hurricane, a number 2 is pushing it for me – but could remain – it is the wind and the trees I fear the most!

Living the Salt life – choosing to be here – living life one day at a time!

Thanks for reading and as always HGD!

Papa’s World – Sherry’s and our friends and her girlfriends!

I have known Bob since grade school – all these years and still friends!

PJ is his second wife and Sherry is my second wife – we have been married for over 41 years!

Here was last fall when they visited in their RV and we went on a Kayak tour of the marsh along the ICW!

Best buddies since middle school and Senior H.S.

What can I say – for 35 to over 40 years we have been friends thick and thin – from family vacations on the beach to travel over the world – to golfing and to parties –

Friends the entire time – and get-togethers a couple times a year –

to now living 35 minutes away from one couple to soon one other couple 3 hours away.

FRIENDS FOR ALWAYS!

Three very good friends – always laughing – singing – sipping wine and beer – doing shots –

but just being friends!

Watching BILLS games together – we are all from the WNY and NWPA area – BILLS COUNTRY!

Time and time again – the three ladies – smiling – laughing – FRIENDS!

Eight going on nine – I think like Taylor – he is going to be tall!

A handsome young fella – smiling – very helpful and wants to do everything by himself!

Here he is during his being with us for almost two weeks!

FIVE GRANDDAUGHTERS and then one GRANDSON – “BODE”!

Ella is almost 5’10 as is Sarah – Taylor is 5’7″ and only 12 – I think he will be taller than all of them!

Papa’s World – Living life in our senior years!

Our SENIOR years are here – we are close to the middle 70s. Yet we are still active – always exploring!

Here we are on the marshes of the ICW – near OIB N.C.

We moved here for the weather ( we both hate snow-ice and cold) close to beaches and golf

and our dear friends are only 40 minutes away!

Have a sense of humor – be kind and share a smile!

When family visits – the sunsets but rises to begin a new day with them!

One of our walks on the beach brings us a Turtle Nest – so we became involved – walking early mornings on Turtle Beach Patrol – looking for signs of turtles – protected by the state of N.C.

Disclaimer: The work for protected SEA TURTLES is authorized by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission – PERMIT ST020232

We now walk and nest sits – all volunteers – dedicated people – to help Sea Turtles survive.

Papa’s World – Sunset at Sunset Beach – nature’s wonder.

Good day – we are close to this beach – a short 12-minute drive and then the walkway over the dunes to the beach.

The walkway is long and goes over the sand and dunes – shrubs – small trees and a habitat for all kinds of native species.

Along the way – you can see the sun beginning to dip below the horizon – many bushes line the walkway.

Looking back along the walkway to the beach houses – this is the far end of Sunset Beach – from here on it is BIRD ISLAND –

no beach houses – just sand and dunes and ocean surf!

You may find it hard to park here as it is limited and no blocked driveways and no parking allowed signs.

When you can find parking – tires are not allowed on bike paths or sidewalks.

But – when you do find one it is worth it to be able to walk this out to the beach.

Sherry and Papa at the end of the walkway and the ramp down to the beach – the sunset is fantastic, behind us is BIRD ISLAND – nothing but sand – dunes, and surf – a mile plus from here is the KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX which has existed for more than forty years. Google it and read the history of this historic place.

Sherry walking down the ramp to the beach in the sunset – they sky always change here depending on the clouds!

After walking on the beach – time to head back and the final rays of sun through the foliage on the walk back.

Papa’s World – before it gets HOT – early morning OIB – sitting on the beach!

It has gotten HOT – 90 plus degrees – high humidity – no rains – BEACH TIME!

We do our morning Turtle Beach Patrol at 6am.

We also pick up garbage on the beach – and are done between 7 and 7:30 am.

We decided to go back home and return by 8:30 for a couple hours of early morning beach time before it gets really hot!

No one is here at that time in the morning – and walking down to the pier and beyond in the surf – the water was warm – our dream-salt life!

Looking in the other direction you can see hardly anyone is here! SOLITUDE!

Feet in the sand – sitting under an umbrella – taking it easy in retirement – one day at a time!

Our life over the years – FAMILY!

An early picture of me holding my niece and my little brother – both have passed away – in fact – all my close family except two nieces and two great nieces are gone that I grew up with.
A early picture in the ’50’s of my older brother Roger on the basketball team. He also has passed on.

My early childhood was spent in a little town in NWPA called Eldred.

Near the NYS border and just across the mountain from Bradford-

home of Kendall – Penns oil – Quaker State and the South Penn oil fields.

My older brother Roger and myself in The Villages shortly before he passed away.

Growing up here was like the movie “STAND BY ME”

I had friends like that – and road my bike everywhere!

Curfew for me was
BE HOME BEFORE THE STREET LIGHTS COME ON”!

My brother in law Bill and my sister Donna – both gone but not forgotten. Bill was once interviewed by Larry King – he was a truck driver but also the Chief of Police and later Mayor – Mr. King found that to be a interesting story!

LIVING OUR LIVES TO THE PLUS ONE DAY AT A TIME! ONE MORE BIRTHDAY AND MANY MORE TO COME!

Papa’s World – Through the years – our life!

June 25th. 1982 – our wedding day – Papa and Sherry

We dated a little over a year before we got engaged and then a year later married.

We both were married before – she had two daughters – I had two sons – and we had each other.

We lived way out in the country – the driveway was 1/10th of a mile long –

great in winter to sled ride.

That first year I mowed everything by hand – it took five days!

And then – rest for two and start over again – we bought a riding mower!

On marriage was based on the Church on the rock-solid!

Those early years were lean years – combining two sets of kids –

running back and forth – very little extra money –

but we survived and to this day look back fondly on all those times.

We always traveled by van – all of us.

We would pack breakfast – lunch, and dinners – take adventures –

the kids loved it.

Camping – in tents – visiting friends.

Then the kids started leaving one by one.

Marriages – moving – college – our family was just the two of us.

We started to travel – the country and the world

The kids were gone – we had moved from the country and into town.

Now – the house was empty and we had the opportunity to transfer to NVA.

We went to NVA and the daughters and family followed us.

We bought and sold three houses in NVA.

My sons stayed in Pa.

But – it seemed like the extended family all moved to NVA.

Retirement came – and once again – we thought of selling and moving farther south.
We made the move in 2020 – and today we are in OIB, Cameron Woods, N.C.

The family stayed in Pa. and Va. – her sister is building a small condo near us.

The family has visited us many times – my sons are coming end of summer.

Forty years have passed since that wedding day – and we still are one and going strong.

Dottie and Jim came to our wedding some 41 years ago!

Dottie and Jim later moved to Va. Beach – Jim – Sherry and I all worked for Dal-Tile!

Papa – Buck – Jim – Jim and I played softball together in the mid-70s and worked together at American Olean Tile in Olean, N.Y. Now Dal-Tile.

PAPA and ELLA – now a junior in college! YEARS GONE BY – FAMILY AND FRIENDS – PAPA’S WORLD.

Papa’s World – In my youth – Lassie – Lincoln logs – growing up in the ’50s!

Good day everyone – thanks for reading!

My brother and I got for Christmas one year – stuffed Lassie dogs!

This dog went to bed with me every night – my comfort stuffed toy.

I know for a while before that – I had a blanket – strange how I remember that.

That was back when my grandma took care of me during the day as both my mom and dad worked.

Here is what the Lassie of my brother looked like.

Mike’s Lassie was a lighter color and mine was darker.

His also was not as curly as mine.

I do not remember any names we called them other than LASSIE!

This is what my Lassie looked like – darker and curly!

We did not fight over who’s was who – as we both knew.

After Mike was out of the crib in my parent’s room –

he moved into my room and we shared a double bed –

My older brother was still home and my grandma went to live with my aunt.

I had her old room.

Lassie became an important part of my life for years that I remember.

I often wonder as the grandkids came along

and they had their favorite stuffed animal –

what became of the two Lassies.

I know they were still there long after we had moved on to our own lives.

I had a Lincoln Log set just like this one.

This was my favorite toy – I would sit for hours in the living room in front of the gas furnace –

with these logs spread out – building a fort

and using the little log connectors as a cowboy or Indian.

That was when Hop Along Cassidy was on TV and Roy Rogers.

And of course all the Westerns – Indians attacking wagon trains or forts.

The Lincoln Log set.

Many a winter day I spent on the floor playing –

Mike never played with them –

He was four years younger and had his own toys.

The TV was also there – an old black and white – and one of the first shows I remember was –

COMMANDER TOM

This was a Buffalo show – as most of our programing came from there.

Romper Room – I Love Lucy and The Three Stooges.

The Red Skelton Show and the Ed Sullivan show.

And wrestling – Diamond Jim Brady – Fritz Von Eric – The Gallagher Brothers

Haystack Muldune – The Claw that you grabbed someone’s stomach and squeezed!

Rocketship 7 and Dave Thomas out of Buffalo N.Y.

My next blog will continue growing up in the ’50s.

Papa’s World – Sherry took me to dinner for my birthday!

Sitting just inside – wind is strong – but we are celebrating my 5-7-4 9 birthday at Oyster Rock in Calabash, N.C.

Now I do not eat Oysters (raw) but decided to try them broiled! I will now have them again! These were so good!

Sherry had the fish TACO’S – which she said were very good – I recommend anyone who is in the area – to make reservations –

and Go to OYSTER ROCK to dine -it is GREAT!

SOME HUMOR AND FACTS IN OUR LIFE!

living the SALT LIFE – taking JUICE PLUS – SIXTEEN YEARS NOW!

74 years old and still going strong!

Papa’s World – family – most are gone – but memories linger on – missing them.

My step father John – my mother Mary and my brother in law Bill.

John was a decorated WWII hero – with the purple heart and numerous other medals.

He captured a castle and a Nazi officer out of uniform – there is a story in a military journal

that is in the WWII museum in Eldred Pa.that chronicles that event.

He took from that officer a automatic machine gun pistol – vintage WWI – that also resides in the museum

and is worth upwards in the thousands of dollars. They keep it locked away as it is so valuable.

He was wounded several times and went back into action.

Bill was a vet of the forgotten war – Korea – he seldom talked about it but while I was growing up –

he gave to me his sleeping bag that he used in the cold winters there.

I admire his stamina as all it was is a wool blanket inside a canvas liner!

I would get very cold while sleeping outside on the ground in it!

He was more to me than a brother in law – he was my friend and like a brother to me.

One time I was out with him on patrol in the cop car – he was the town cop –

We drove down across the tracks and out past the old pipe building –

he saw a woodchuck and said to me –

“Do I get him”?
“Sure I said”!

He pulled out his gun and from the front seat shot that old woodchuck –

I almost went deaf from that gun going off!

I said ” JESUS CHRIST BILL” and then we both just burst out laughing!

Lesson – never fire a gun from inside a car – you can barely hear for like 10 minutes!

John and Mary ( my mother) holding pies that she made from scratch!

Mom was known all over the town and county and into NYS for her baking.

She would bake rolls – bread – pies and cakes. Sweet rolls and sticky buns.

There was not anything she could not knead and bake and all from memory!

She did not need a receipt – she just did it after almost 85 years of her life baking!

She baked as a child learning from her mother who passed at 85 years old.

Mom was next to the youngest of 11 kids and was almost 98 years old when she passed.

She supplied pies and cakes and rolls for a diner in town.

She was so kind and loving – warm and gentle – but she also was a strong women – way before her time – she believed in equal rights and taught me that – she would come up with these sayings that made me laugh – ” You are as useless as a two petered billy goat”

Or she would say ” You are as useless as teats on a boar hog”! She had me in stitches –

she also played the accordion my father the spoons and sang and my uncle jack the wash board.

They would do this at family picnics and if the beer was free – at social events.

When she was young – she traveled with my grandma in the logging camps of Pa.

Making breakfast – lunch and dinner as a way to make money in the depression.

My father passed away in 1969 after a long battle with cancer – leaving mom a widow and my younger brother just entering H.S. After about ten years she met John – and they remarried – both of them.

They were together until he passed away at age 81.

She called him “JOHNNY BOY” and he was so good to her – just what she needed after ten years losing my dad.

He could fix anything and construction was his forte.

His cars and trucks immaculate even though they were ten years old – showroom condition.

He fixed up and remodled the house which she had kept going all those years .

That same house today is still in the family after almost 78 years –

my great niece lives there today.

Mary ( Mom) and John ( her Johnny boy)

Papa’s World – LITTLE TAYLOR loves horses – now BIG TAYLOR riding horses!

Our grandaughter Taylor with her mother – soon to be a teenager – she has grown up riding horses!

A beautiful young lady to be – she would clean stalls and groom horses every day if she could!

It all began with her – she could barely walk – yet she knew what she wanted and today she rides so gracefully – here her mother helps to steady her on her first ride!

Now she is a regular at the riding stable and volunteers to groom and take care of the horse’s stalls!

Tall in the saddle – little Taylor does not need any help – becoming an accomplished rider.

Her dream is to someday own her own horse – she is so graceful and an easy learner.

Papa’s World – Walking OIB to see the sunrise!

The sun creeping above the horizon on Ocean Isle Beach – GOOD MORNING!

Our Monday morning walking group decided to walk the beach instead of the park – to see the sunrise!

In the middle we had our daughter Tammy and her son Bode along with us to walk – she also chose to run as did Bode!

Tammy along with Sherry and Bode walking and looking for shells – you can just see Bode as he is shell hunting!

Only eight years old – he got out of bed and came with us as we left the house at 6:15 am.

Standing before a beach castle someone made above the surf line – Bode – who also ran with his mother!

The sky turns orange over the water as the Sun rises!

Diane and Sherry walk toward the Groin as the sun peaks above the horizon.

The views are just beautiful!

A look back at the way we had come!

PAPA’S WORLD – WALKING OIB TO SEE THE SUNRISE!

Papa’s World – Revisited our old neighborhood – NMB!

Main Street and Beach Blvd intersection of North Myrtle Beach – during our nine-month condo stay here – we walked this almost every day – heading for the beach – you can see the stage at the entrance to the beach.

The radio station 94.9 THE SURF is on the left along with HODO’S Beach Club and the Old Arcade on the right.

The parking lot on Friday nights is full of beach chairs and the streets are closed off for concerts on the stage.

Turning around from the intersection is Main Street and you can see Sherry walking up the street.

We were here at the beginning of the Pandemic and this was a ghost town – although the stores were open.

Our favorite nightclub to go to where we finally learned what THE SHAG was!

A dance that came from the Rythem and Blues of the 40s and became a cross-over called Carolina Beach music.

And has become the state dance!

This scene has been ongoing for 80 years!!!!

“ENTER THROUGH THE JUKEBOX DOORS” so goes the advertisement heard on the radio.

This club is full of history – pictures and items from the past 80 years!

The dance is like the STROLL-JITTER BUG – SWING where you never lose contact with your dance partner.

Yearly competitions are held here and every four months SHAG comes to town –

Bands – music- dancing in the streets!

Like the Hollywood Walk of Fame – the sidewalks are full of plaques from all through the years of people and dancers and dates!

The big water tower that overlooks the town has a picture of a couple dancing THE SHAG!

On the beach from the beach entrance – we walked this every day while we lived here!

Sherry walking North Myrtle Beach – one of the widest beaches at low tide I have ever been on!

Exiting the sixth street beach entrance and looking up the street to where we stayed at the back entrance to Ocean Keyes.

Over 700 condos and a huge lake with six water fountains.

Six pools – tennis courts and a workout room.

Loved living there but no garage and no storage space – or else we might have stayed there.

Looking back from sixth street beach parking to the main town of North Myrtle Beach – our old neighborhood.

Papa’s World – Walking Ocean Isle Beach – early March!

Sunny day – high 60’s – no breeze – workers working on the OIB water tower – not for me! LOL

We decided after Pickle-ball – to take a walk on the beach – hardly anyone there!

It was a nice warm walk in the sun.

Product of my life in the ’60s! LOL

The beach was empty – which surprised me because as we walked it got warmer!

OIB pier – a look out south to the ocean – the beaches here face south! Curveture of the coastline!

Walking we saw hardly anyone – but we got our steps in – love walking on the beach!

Ocean Isle Beach when it is warm and lots of folks there! A view from the pier!

PAPA’S WORLD – WALKING OCEAN ISLE BEACH EARLY MARCH – living life to the plus!

Papa’s World- Spring cleaning – front porch – sip coffee!

In the Spring – when it is warm – my go-to place to sit and sip my coffee is the glider on the front porch!

Just sit there in peace and quiet and watch the birds soar in the sky – listen to the wind coming through the tall Carolin Pines!

But first – I have to wash it all off as it is coated with the yellow pollen dust of those same pine trees!

The glider after washing it off and the siding with the crabs – the floor and the stones in front – the windows all had yellow dust.

The three Swedish horses our oldest granddaughters made for us – rested on the stones – amongst the hedges and plants.

This is my coffee place in the early morning!

The front window with the OIB sign – the place we had built and now call home in the Carolinas!

Beaches ( two of them) and golf ( 25 courses within 30 minutes) are two reasons we selected this community!

Entrance to the front door – our crabs on the wall – a welcome wreath – home – family and friends visiting – PRICELESS!

Thanks for reading PAPA’S WORLD – my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

Through this door passes family and friends – Carolina hospitality – living the full SALT LIFE!

PAPA’S WORLD – SPRING CLEANING – FRONT PORCH – SIPPING COFFEE – PRICELESS!

Papa’s World – Spring cleaning – pollen season – the back patio!

The yellow pollen was everywhere – so happy that we had the back lanai enclosed with EZ-BREEZE – allowing us to keep

it outside and not all over our furniture indoors!

But – the outdoor patio was covered as were the outdoor window screens and the screens to the lanai!

So – out came the water hose – and I moved all the furniture off the patio as well as the rug.

I began to wash everything down – starting with the siding and the screens.

I gently used the shower feature on the hose to rinse off the Tower Garden – and the big chairs which are too heavy to move and are connected.

The chairs are really heavy and connected – hard to move for Sherry and me!

I also gently showered the flowers – which we have grown since last spring and the Solo Stove fire pit!

Now on such a nice day – I would rather be out golfing – but this yellow pollen from all the pine trees is everywhere.

I have even seen it in the ocean!

When done and everything is back in place – glad to have it over with and nice and clean – however – this will have to be done again as the pollen season lasts for a while.

When the wind blows it is like a yellow dust cloud floating in the air.

A good rain will wash a lot of it down onto the ground but it forms a yellow scum on the water in the ponds!

Papa’s World – Through Winter into Spring – Tower Garden.

We now are over ten years of growing our own produce – and down here in the Carolinas – border of N.C. and S.C. –

we have grown year-round – Summer – Fall – WINTER and into the beginning of Spring!

In WINTER when it does get cold – we cover it up during the night and day if we have to – the sun can get through

this mesh covering also protects it from below freezing – 19 degrees one night – and we put our flowers under it!

Here are the last Springs flowers which I moved to the back and covered with the mesh!

The Tower Garden ( http://www.ssherrylynn49.com) and the flowers on the back patio – we had continuous produce all year!

This spot protects the plants and also is in the sun for most of the early morning and early afternoon!

All I do is make sure water is in the base – by watching the WHITE FLOAT rod – when it goes down to the marker on the float –

I add water – and every so often – I add a cup of nutrients ( 2 different types)

NO WEEDING and NO PESTICIDES ( http://www.sf.juiceplus.com )

We eat salads almost every night and soon in this planting – cukes and tomatoes and celery along with lettuce and herbs.

For over SIXTEEN YEARS – we have added the above natural FRUITS – VEGETABLES – BERRIES – OMEGAS

to our daily diets in CAPSULE – GUMMIE – BARS – and DRINK forms. ( 30 different FRUITS – VEGGIES and BERRIES)

The OMEGAS are not made from FISH OIL – but from ALGAE FARMS ( which fish eat Algae to produce OMEGAS)

to avoid the MERCURY found in fish.

PAPA’S WORLD – livinglifedoingitmyway.blog PLEASANT THOUGHTS – LIFE WITH US!

Papa’s World – Living life one day at a time!

Isn’t this the truth! As you get older – things become a little bit more demanding – but keeping active can slow these down!

Walking – that is my main source of exercise – and we have started playing Pickle Ball!

We try to walk 2 to 3 miles a day weather permitting – we do not walk in rain or strong winds.

We have been taking this supplement for SIXTEEN YEARS – and we have never missed a day!

We recommend this to other folks – the research sold us and the benefits to our bodies!

We do not have pets although our daughter and family have Marley – a golden poodle who is adorable.

Our other daughter and family have a Love Bird – our son-in-law is allergic to cats and dogs!

PAPA’S WORLD – LIVING LIFE TO THE PLUS ONE DAY AT A TIME!

Papa’s World – Pictures – Family and friends.

Introducing myself and my wife – Tom ( Papa) and Sherry – married over 40 years – from NWPA – in the Alleghany Mountains!

We have lived in Pa. N.Y. Va. S.C. and N.C.

Second marriage for both of us – combining two daughters ( hers ) and two sons ( mine) –

The two daughters live in NVA and the two sons live in NWPA.

Both retired from a major producer and importer of Ceramic tile

We both strive to be kind – generous – caring – loving – helpful and make a contribution to humankind.

We have had close friends for almost 40 years and some beyond that – here Buck and Cindy who live about 40 miles from us.

We were neighbors back in WNY and have continued to see each other through the years.

Now that we are within one hour of each other – we often times get together to golf – have dinner – or see theater shows in our area.

For SIXTEEN years Sherry has been a partner for the Juice Plus Company – she is a certified health coach –

and has had an internet business during all this time.

This has provided a stable extra income for our retirement for the past 10 years that she has been retired.

Family is very important to us – all have visited us in our new retirement home in N.C.
