We have now golfed our second course since we moved to S.C.
THISTLE A SCOTTISH THEMED COURSE WITH LOTS OF WATER
We had a chance to grab tee times at this sought after course.
The whole theme is of Scotland
with the club house and grounds
and the road onto and into the course.
This part of N.C. close to the ocean is rather flat
but they molded this course into bunkers
with six tee boxes on each hole!
I was impressed at just how much they changed the landscape.
Plus – there is a lot of water hazards here!
And something you do not see in Scotland – GATORS!

of a raised green – and from the fairway
you could not see it!
Good thing no had hit long
because as I walked back to line up my putt
there it was!
Sherry and Cindy also saw another one when then went to find a ball
next to a water hazard
and carefully got out of there!
It was a great course – and because of the tees we played
we avoided a lot of water where they were!

We always have fun golfing with Cindy and Buck
now that we are down here – they live about 40 minutes away
so we make tee times to play
this being the fourth time we have played together
since we came down late September and stayed with them for 5 days!

This beach a few years ago –
was voted one of the top beaches in the country.
And – judging by the number of people here
in the off season – I can see why.
This entrance had bathrooms – water to wash off
and looked really inviting.

But since this was a day trip
we only stopped to check it out
parking in the Summer might be a problem as well as traffic!
Time to reflect – time to look around – our dream is real!
On to our next beach destination
OCEAN ISLES BEACH N.C.
This area is a target of where we might end up!
It is only 40 minutes to our friends house in Magnolia Greens
and right in the heart of so many fine golf courses!
Plus in 30 minutes or less
we are right back in North Myrtle Beach!
Over the causeway to Ocean Isles Beach
largely a residential beach
buy what you want BEFORE you cross the causeway!
But – I like this area better than Sunset Beach!

and the sand is not hot on your feet!
There might also be a problem in parking as I noticed few lots
but parking was encouraged to park off the road
but alongside of the road.
Public access was plentiful but not as nice as
Sunset beach – just paths between houses.

Bathrooms might be a problem!

Now – this place was very large – multiple levels and rooms
I saw two stages for music and four different bars.
Our seats were by ourselves for the most part.
The lunch crowd had just begun.
Several unique area’s for their late night action!
I asked how busy they were and she replied
on the weekend very busy at night.
So – so during the week
but lunch was popular and the place big enough
to allow social distancing!

We spent three days either sitting – walking or both

We would go to the beach around 3 PM. and stay a couple hours.

The water was around 74 degrees.
And the weather beautiful at 82 degrees!
Sometimes we would walk down –
if we had no chairs –
other times we would drive down and park
carrying everything in the trunk

And showers to wash off the sand at almost every parking lot!

In all – we really like this beach here – it is quiet – wide and clean.
Debbie had a great time – walking – sitting and just relaxing.
She would come down those stairs to say good night
give hugs and this would happen several times!
She was always asking when we would come back.

Every morning without fail
from 6 to 6:15 AM.
Down those stairs he would come or if I were on the front porch
climb up onto my lap.
” I LOVE YOU PAPA”!
As simple as that!
Taylor or “T” as I call her
so mature – so kind – who only wants to ride horses!
She takes lessons once a week –
She knows how to groom them and saddle them
how to clean their hooves.
“T” who just wants her ALONE time-
in her room reading or playing with her horses and lego’s!
WHEN THEY WERE YOUNGER!
We spent almost three months with them
One time they spent a year with us.
Sherry is their “MORMOR”
Swedish for MOTHER’S MOTHER!
That is all they have ever called her.

Yes – missing the three little ones
The older three are growing up
one in college – one about to graduate
and one who wants to be with grandma!
The three little ones – who are young enough
to see we are now at a distance and call all the time.
And then there is Tammy – their mother
who in all her life has never lived more that two hours away
We ended our day in Congress – where we had to be searched –
pockets emptied – no phone for pictures
The whole Congress was rude.
We settled in for about 45 minutes – and there was to be a vote –
But – NO ONE on the floor paid any attention –
they were divided on the right side and the left side –
The entire congress did nothing but talk –
So loud we – in the balcony – could not hear what they were saying
on the loud speakers!
The Capital where nothing gets done and no one listens
I was disgusted at the whole thing and how they all acted.
All we could do was watch the electronic board to see the total of the votes.

We toured Union Station and had lunch – then boarded the Metro there
and got off at the Smithstonian in the Mall.

We left the Mall behind and walked to the front of the White House
We had covered a lot that day
and decided to see the front and the back
But on our way we came across a very peaceful protest
in front of the EPA building
They were not yelling – they were respectful when we talked to them

Now – I can not understand why anyone would be against clean air
Withe clean air comes better gas mileage

The one who was here first passed away several years ago
they have kept it here as each election
brings new Government
as a way to keep the power in the people
and a eye on what is going on.
Both Democrats and Republicans have seen this protest.

A day trip into the Blue Ridge Mountains & Shenadoah’s
We visited a resort called Fearrington where they have black belted COWS and Chickens and Goats! And a community of different houses!
We went South to Fuquay-Varina
Just outside Raleigh N.C. where
Sherry’s sister moved about two years ago.

We have been here once before and decided to take
a quick long weekend trip
One of the things we did was visit Fearrington Farm
a resort that has white belted Cows – Goats and Chickens.
I have no idea HOW they produce the breeds
but they are Black with a white furry belt
In fact all the Cows – Goats are really furry
as are the Chickens ( fluffy feathers)

The animals were all inside pens or pastures
and we got to see them up close
It was the first time I had ever heard of them!

They have several places to eat
and a spa and Inn to stay at ( $450.00 / night)
There is shopping and a really neat BOOK STORE !
Just outside where we ate a quiet place to reflect and next to outside seating
We walked around the bookstore & hundreds of books
had little review notes attached to them
All the books were colorful colors
and I found myself a little over whelmed
As I was unable to just focus
there were so many!

Yesterday it seemed she graduated –
This past weekend –
she came back home for the first time –
A young women – seeking her career –
and playing college soccer !
Spring our flowers we actually save these year to year pull them out end of October shake them off and put into bucket and hang up in the garageGeraniums over five years old saved year to year
My step father taught me that –
save them –
then clean up in Spring –
and replant them !
IT WORKS !

The concept of Team Generations came 13 years ago –
That is when Sherry introduced Juice Plus to our daughters.

First was Tammy – who attended our first in house education
on Health and Nutrition with Pamela Sue –
one of two of our mentors – Sari being the other.
Pam is from the Big Island , HI.
Sari is from Atlanta Ga.

Thus the babies absorbed all that nutrition the whole time !

So at 32 to 33 weeks –
they came into the World
They were small – barely over two pounds with Taylor 13 oz.more !

But I think Taylor is going to be like her MORMOR ( Sherry ) 5 ‘ 10 !!!
Debby ( eldest ) Sherry She was suppose to be there but her youngest became ill and she had to turn around and go back home
Debby was sad – she had missed the education
But in talking to Tammy and Sherry –
She just knew what a opportunity she had
in helping her entire family getting healthy.
They had so many doctor visits
being ill all the time
That had all changed in the first six months
they started the Juice Plus road to health.
Today – all three daughters and her husband & herself
Zero times to the doctor in the past 11 years for sickness
Taylor ( 9) & Sherry Taylor is going to be tall like her MORMOR Swedish for Mother’s Mother
Today – Tammy is a Sales Coordinator –
while Debby is A QMND
Qualified National Marketing Director
Sherry is a Senior Sales Coordinator
All are living their dreams
Debby has passed her mother and is almost to the top as a NMD !
Debby has worked from home the last 11 years
Running her Juice Plus Business
While Sherry worked part time –
Debby did full time.
Sherry has retired early
and is full time in the Juice Plus Business
All three run the JPB from home.
No overhead

And travel the Country every six months together

What do you do with your strawberry plants in the Fall from the TOWER GARDEN ?
Every year – and we have been growing in the Tower Garden ‘ s for seven years – we have had strawberry plants left over – so – instead of throwing them away – I just took them out and stuck them in the ground !
We have this area right beside the house where my back flow is . And now – each year – these plants come back and thrive there ! Last year – I picked 10 to 14 quarts of sweet strawberries – and they spread.
This area was dug up two years ago to install our irrigation system and you can see where they put in the back flow. So – in two years time – they have spread and filled the area back in again.
Three cousins – we promote #livinglifetotheplus to our families.
The concept of healthy eating – is that we GROW as much as we can – for ourselves. The two smaller ones – Cassidy and Taylor – will come over – and when the strawberries are nice and red and ripe – will sit out there and pick and eat them – teaching them you can eat from the Earth and not always from the store. Taylor asked me the other day ” ARE THE STRAWBERRIES READY YET PAPA ? “
As we enter the setting Sun of our years
Our wish – and the WHY we do all this – is to install for Generations to come the value of eating healthy – eliminating process foods – cutting back on sweets and dairy ( the Myth of dairy ) – Gluten – and eating more fruits and vegetables – passing this onto the grand kids of today and hoping that they in turn pass it onto their children.
We named our team – TEAM GENERATIONS
Life to us is changing habits – instilling new ones in the kids – and inhance memories of growing up with PAPA & MORMOR as the younger ones callus or Grandma and Grandpa as the older ones call us.
Memories are formed at young age – as in Taylor just saying the other day – she is 8 years old. Her and her parents and sister lived with us for one year while they awaited there new home being made ready. Sherry and I were having a conversation – about in the future moving South.
She spoke up from her homework ( we pick them up from school ) and said ” MORMOR & PAPA – you can’t move -I have too many memories here” ! And then went on to tell how she remembers her bedroom and how they shared it together – her mother and fathers room and the front room where they had their doll house. They were only two and one half when they lived here.
Last Summer – Outer Banks Beach
So memories play a big part of our lives – and grand kids even bigger. Instilling memories of us and health is the legacy we want to have – one that enriches their lives and that of their children. That memory has led to our motto #livinglifetotheplus and our own health and lifestyle. This in turn led to the concept of TEAM GENERATIONS and the impact that since we started has on hundreds of families just like us.

We have been attending for over 15 years.
We found our home after searching for six plus years.
After transfering to NVA from WNY
We finally found what we had left behind.
We tried numerous churches
Being directed into spaces for social distancing
We became involved – watching the community grow
Now – we have but one outside service left to attend
and – we shall depart once again
where we will seek out another church

For pastor told us that the last service we are here
She and the congregation will be saying their goodbyes to us
Emotions for both Sherry and myself will be high
We can not hug – shake hands – only stand there with masks on

And it sits on what I think is still the Rappahannock River
or one of the many inland bays of the Chesapeake Bay.
My son in law had eaten here before.
But – where ever it is – I want to go back

We had gone off the resort of The Tides –
because the day we arrived – their dining room was closed.
And Marcus and Tammy had been here before.
Not many people at all – we almost had the whole outside to ourselves!
And you could not sit inside.

The little ones all had the shrimp and lobster roll along with Sherry.

Now – I have never had a feeling to eat oysters
and I think that goes way back to my father
every Friday night – he had oyster soup!
And it just did not look good to me!
Bode almost made it
Bode wanted to try one –
but at the last moment gave it up to Taylor
and she ate it and gave it a THUMBS UP!

I think there were three other people there
but they also were doing a good take out business.
You could walk over and look into the kitchen from three sides.
And two ladies were busy cooking in there!
I recommend this place!

I would imagine this being a very busy place
if it were not for the pandemic
Marcus and Tammy said when they were there last year
it was packed.
I hope it stays – I most likely will never get back there
they just had to make sure since they were so tiny
that they would eat and be okay.

The birthdays were not planned
it was all in the hands of the doctor
and so now we have THREE BIRTHDAYS!

We finished golf – changed and headed out to Carolina beach –
to the LAZY PIRATE – a sports bar – open air – covered
wild Buffalo Bills bar !
The Lazy Pirate
During our many years back in NYS – we were Bills fans –
all through the years up to the four super bowls
and beyond.
For three years after we moved – we tried to follow them.
But – alas – in the DC area – they were not to be found
unless we went into the city every Sunday
to find the Bills places !
This was and is Redskins country !
How ever our friends remained loyal followers and no matter what find the game somewhere each and every Sunday !The crowd is picking up !They kept filing in !
I was surprised – I met and talked to people from back home
All with their red- white and blue
true Bill’s fans !
Even met Eric – who was in a band for ten years with a lady both Sherry – Jim and I worked with at the tile plant in Olean NY. Donna !As you can see – open air – covered and corn hole in the yard !Waiting for the call ! Dottie Cindy JimCindy – rabid fan !Bills score !

we spent the day golfing and watching the Bills

Good morning Of course – part two of why we are all together Guys vs. Gals GOLF
That is what we do – and this has been on going for years !
This time we only played nine holes –
On Sunday morning – as we also had to hurry home-
change and rush to a PIRATE BAR to watch the “BILLS ” !
That is my next blog – but today – we gave strokes !
As much as I did not want to – we did ! LOL

LOL
The match was nine holes –
We had to give them THREE STROKES !
And two replays ( do not know about that )
Jim made that deal !
Me – after all these years
know better
they will kick your butt !
Plus – we had to use everyone’s drive at least once
Ended up using Bucks four times – mine three times and Jim’s twice.

The gals went out first –
and we could tell if they were playing good
The antics on the green we could see and hear !
The three of us that are retired keep telling the youngsters that this is what you have to do ! YEAH RIGHT !!!!
The course was in really great shape –
and we never saw anyone until the 24 th. hole

The gals played well – we could tell that this was going to be tough !
We watched them tee off – all three right down the middle-
That is their game
US – it is right or left !

all three balls were right beside each other
in the middle of the fairway !
Buck Tom Jim The three amigo’s friends Jim and I go back to playing softball in the late 70’s early 80’s Buck and I 39 years We watched as all three hit this island green par three – with water on three sides they were putting for birdie!
We were sailing right along – one under par after six holes!
We were getting ready lots of chatter
We were playing good – actually making putts !
One putted first three holes !

Those THREE STROKES were going to be big in the end !
DON’T GIVE STROKES they will kill you they never lose balls and are always in middle and on the green most times in regulation ! Sherry Dottie Cindy

We had boggy’s on the last three holes
and they were watching and waiting for us on the last hole.
Giving them the three strokes
we ended up winning by ONE STROKE
and if we had not one putted those first three holes
well – as always – luck plays a role !
