A call came on Wednesday – can you make 4:30 pm. if I make tee times on Friday?
Of course, we can – make them and we will be there – and so we did.
Sherry and I left early as we wanted to do some things in Wilmington, N.C.
Unless we go for a certain thing or event – we do not get there all that often.
We were golfing at Magnolia Greens located some eleven miles from the city.
Our friends live there and I think it to be one of the better courses down here.
Twenty-seven holes – and we were playing just nine this late afternoon.
Now it looks like we are looking for balls in the water – but we were in a huge sand trap on a par three – Cindy was raking the sand and Buck and I were picking up my ball and going to play his on the grass.
LOL story of my life!
We once again played a scramble against the ladies and once again we lost!
We had a couple bad holes – but we also played well – here we are on in two – par four hole and a putt for a birdie – which we did not make and ended up with a par.
You can see where Bucks putt went and I had still had to putt – did not make it and we settled for a par.
I love golf on TV!
It turned out to be a great day – beautiful weather – no humidity – 80 degrees!

Papa’s World – Magnolia Greens – golfing with friends on a late Friday afternoon.
Sherry and Cindy – they decided to walk the 18 holes – Sherry got a new pull cart!
I actually believe these 27 holes compare to the best in the area including Myrtle Beach!
On this day – the flowers were in full bloom and reminded me of Augusta!
Almost every hole was like this!

We have played this course many times over the years!
They have called this home for at least twenty years.
Having bought and sold and built here many times.
This is the main reason we came South to this general area.
Our new home will be about 40 minutes away –
so daily golf is available!

This is the second home they have built here – both in this water area and both had like views –
only this one is downsized from the other one.

We – Buck and I – did our usual scramble – and we had a record for us – we shot a 39 with a double boogie the last hole!
If you are ever in N.C. just South of Leland and Wilmington – this is a public course – 27 holes – stop in and make a tee time – it will surprise you and you will love it – one of the best around the area!
We finished golf – changed and headed out to Carolina beach –
to the LAZY PIRATE – a sports bar – open air – covered
wild Buffalo Bills bar !

During our many years back in NYS – we were Bills fans –
all through the years up to the four super bowls
and beyond.
For three years after we moved – we tried to follow them.
But – alas – in the DC area – they were not to be found
unless we went into the city every Sunday
to find the Bills places !
This was and is Redskins country !
How ever our friends remained loyal followers and no matter what find the game somewhere each and every Sunday !The crowd is picking up !They kept filing in !
I was surprised – I met and talked to people from back home
All with their red- white and blue
true Bill’s fans !
Even met Eric – who was in a band for ten years with a lady both Sherry – Jim and I worked with at the tile plant in Olean NY. Donna !As you can see – open air – covered and corn hole in the yard !Waiting for the call ! Dottie Cindy JimCindy – rabid fan !Bills score !

Good morning Of course – part two of why we are all together Guys vs. Gals GOLF
That is what we do – and this has been on going for years !
This time we only played nine holes –
On Sunday morning – as we also had to hurry home-
change and rush to a PIRATE BAR to watch the “BILLS ” !
That is my next blog – but today – we gave strokes !
As much as I did not want to – we did ! LOL

The match was nine holes –
We had to give them THREE STROKES !
And two replays ( do not know about that )
Jim made that deal !
Me – after all these years
know better
they will kick your butt !
Plus – we had to use everyone’s drive at least once
Ended up using Bucks four times – mine three times and Jim’s twice.

and we could tell if they were playing good
The antics on the green we could see and hear !
The three of us that are retired keep telling the youngsters that this is what you have to do ! YEAH RIGHT !!!!
The course was in really great shape –
and we never saw anyone until the 24 th. hole

That is their game
US – it is right or left !

Buck Tom Jim The three amigo’s friends Jim and I go back to playing softball in the late 70’s early 80’s Buck and I 39 years We watched as all three hit this island green par three – with water on three sides they were putting for birdie!
We were sailing right along – one under par after six holes!
We were getting ready lots of chatter
We were playing good – actually making putts !
One putted first three holes !

Those THREE STROKES were going to be big in the end !

and they were watching and waiting for us on the last hole.

and if we had not one putted those first three holes

We were going to be lock away for one hour in a room
looking for clues – solving riddles – finding keys –
and how to unlock the VAULT where all the money was !
We walked to the building and up the stairs
to the waiting room – we had a appointed time !
We were given instructions – some do’s and don’ts
WE HAD NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE
and were some what fortified with a few drinks !
We had no idea what we were getting into
HINT – on a 1 to 10 difficulty on your first try
pick a number under 3 !!!!!!
This was a NINE out of TEN !

This room is full of clues that no one has any idea what they mean !
And everything is locked –
And combination locks –
A lot of keys to be found –
and no idea what they unlock
because some are inside locked doors with combination locks!
And then the door shuts and locks and everyone scatters and starts looking not knowing just what they are looking for !
We had 60 minutes and a big clock that counted down !
Things were being found –
but no idea what they meant –
At least we were all locked in together
The group did find clues and were able to solve some problems
and some locks were opened
and some combinations solved
but time was running out
and this huge BANK VAULT door loomed on one side of the room.
Then the clock ran out –
Sirens began –
COPS were on their way
we had to open the door and clear the room in 15 seconds !

Cindy Buck Dottie Jim Tom Sherry We failed recovered NO MONEY heck – we still have no idea how to solve the clues except for one !
One clue – a picture – and a pair of binoculars –
We were told the picture was of a building down the street outside
You look at the small picture and see the date that it was built

We decided that the next day would be walk in morning –

while the rest rested up
and had coffee looking at this view
My favorite room of this houseI can just imagine a gentle rain and the rumble of thunder !Sipping coffee watching the course being watered !
I have always liked this area of N.C.
Twenty minute car ride to the beach
but far enough away from the storms
Magnolia Greens has 27 golf holes
And another twenty minutes to down town Wilmington !

To the river fest – lunch –
and the reason we all came down here
use up the six tickets Cindy had as a Christmas gift
