Papa’s World – Walking the path around the pond – at Cameron Woods – “INTO THE WOODS”!

In my last blog – you could see “WOODIE” sunbathing!

The resident GATOR of our pond although people have seen two of them in there!

In case you missed the last blog – here is WOODIE!

Now – we are walking into the woods full of Carolina Pine trees and Living Oak Trees!

Sherry heading to the bend and up a small grade and then into the pine needle-covered path!

This section is kind of scary even in the daylight!

When you get in there – the path is orange colored from all the pine needles.

Great cover for COPPERHEADS!

Although we have not seen any of the snakes – other people have – but we did see a large black snake!

And it was on the black gravel path just before the bend on the path straight ahead of Sherry.

Sherry enters the path and forest.

She watches the trees and branches while I watch the ground and sides.

I have seen several deer back in here – never any snakes but this area has them!

You can see that you do not want to go off that path – at least we don’t!
It is also much cooler in here and on a hot day a welcomed relief!

This is all protected land and will not be clearcut.

It is quiet in here – just the sounds of the birds!

And quiet also when you walk on a bed of pine needles!

Coming to the end of the path through the woods.

A look to the East at Sunset

From the end of our driveway – we can see both the Sunrise and the Sunset!

As the fall comes on and summer has ended – the Sun starts to move each day –

and in this picture – the sunrise is more to the right – in the fall it has moved to the left.

Turning around and facing the house – the Sunset in the West!

We came to view this lot at around 2:00 pm. on a sunny afternoon a year ago last October.

And we could see how the Sun would go across the lot

and knew we would have views of Sunrise and Sunset – we were hooked and the trees would remain.

Papa and Sherry – PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – Hiking through Vareen Memorial Gardens with family!

We had a fine day to be out and about – so we decided to show them some nature

As they are all about the outdoors!

We went back to Vareen Memorial Gardens –

just before you cross the state line into N.C. in Little River S.C.

Ella Sarah Sherry Sarah is growing up so fast – at 14 she is catching up to both Sherry and Ella!

Across the marsh and over the tidal canals –

at low tide – does not look so scary when empty!

Sarah and Ella who is almost 5′ 9″ tall!

We entered the trees and brush along a sand pathway – trail.

We had been here a couple times before

bringing family to explore and see the ICW and the beauty of a pristine nature walk.

The girls loved this as did Debby who is all about the outdoors and hiking!

We soon entered the trees and bush growth

it was shaded in here and I think would be welcomed in the S.C. heat of Summer!

One last walkway before entering the pine and cypress trees!

The path is marked – and branches off in all directions!

Respite from the hot sun!

A shaded walk – can be a couple miles if you select the right path

We choose the shorter route – we had some more places to show them!

WE WILL BE BACK someday we told them!

We had driven past this park dozens of times as we went to golf and also after we bought our lot!

Always saying – we need to stop and check it out –

might be a good place to bring the grand kids as they all

like to hike and explore!

So – we did and then when they came down – we went for a hike –

out through the marsh – into the trees – a sand trail – pathway –

I had a map as it splits off several times!

I guess in the warmer months you will see gators in the marsh!

The little ones are always curious – exploring – seeing and asking questions!

But – they also stay close – ever watchful –

and tend to hang with MorMor!

Sherry – ( MorMor) Swede for Mother’s Mother – loves to lead and show them – explain what everything is!
They also listen to her!
