In the early years of us being in Northern Va. , a couple of things happened. First , Tammy followed us down. Then a year later Mike and Debby and our new baby grand-daughter , Madison Margo Myers , known to us as Maddy , joined us.
I often thought if I were to open a bed and breakfast or a Cafe – I would give it the name of “THE BEAR AND THE FOX!” Why, I don’t know except that it sounded cool and I could envision a picture of a Bear and a Fox having dinner together at a table with some wine!
Now I see the picture of Maddy & her Father , our little Fox being carried by her father , The Bear of the woods, as he loves to hike the Northern woods of New York State. kinda out there in left field , but that is how I see it!
Teaching the ways of life to their children and bringing in the Health & Nutrition – showing how you EXIST TO LIVE & LIVE TO EXIST – always molding a way to blend their lives into harmony with nature.
The Bear and the Fox. A little girl and her father – hiking into their lives of Existing to live – Live to Exist.
You cannot often call someone an almost lifelong friend – and still see them every four months or so!
I have known DOTTIE since she married one of my best friends – Jimmy – with whom I played softball in the mid-70s!
We have gone on family vacations – I carried her KATTIE back and forth on the beach – losing her little shoe on the way and going back so she wouldn’t burn her foot in the hot sand. She became my “LITTLE FRIEND” all those years ago.
We are both from Eldred, Pa. and she bonded with Sherry right away.
Many – many times we have taken in the Sun- Sand and Surf of beaches –
and having a “FEW” drink along the way!
Today is her “SPECIAL” day – and in a few weeks she will walk out the doors one last time into –
“RETIREMENT”!
Dottie – the best is yet to come – those little granddaughters – your new house –
and the trips you have planned –
And of course our ‘FRIENDS TRIPS” now that we all are retired!
Playing golf – sipping a few drinks – singing and of course “LAUGHING”!
THE THREE SENORITES! ALWAYS SO MUCH FUN WITH THESE THREE!
From the “GANG” to you DOTTIE – HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a beautiful lady inside and out!
SUN – SAND and SURF – TRIPS – GRANDKIDS – FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE IN YOUR FUTURE!

The experience of a lifetime – travel – helps kids and play soccer.
Maddy traveled to Costa Rico – part of her education at college – and with her soccer team.
She raised money for the trip with donations from many people and also knew she would be working
with the underprivileged children of this country.
At the first school children went to – the toilets would not flush and no toilet paper.
Yet the children loved having them as mentors in games and contests.
Maddy as captain – far right outside of the line of players.
They played matches against semi-pros of the country and won two of three matches –
losing 3 to 2 on a put-in from their own team!
This trip will shape her future for years to come.
Along with working with the children – they also had downtime to white water raft –
zip lines and hiking – working out and running on beaches
seeing a volcano and the rainforest.
Maddy is in the back row – fourth in white from the right – team picture of their own team and a mixture of semi-pro and college players from Costa Rico.
LESSONS OF LIFE!
Maddy – on the right holding the American Flag!
She has grown up before our eyes – soon to be a senior and one of the captains of her college soccer team.
3.85 GPA – Environmental Science – Engineering
One last year of college and one last year of playing college soccer.

GRANDDAUGHTER IN COSTA RICO – WORKING WITH CHILDREN – PLAYING SOCCER – LIFETIME EXPERIENCE!
Here we are – in our early ’70’s – homeless – living with daughters –
until we pack up and head South
to North Myrtle Beach S.C.
First thing we do as vagabonds – is play some golf!
We made it a point – have fun – play golf – and enjoy the warm weather while we can!
Here we played one of our favorite courses in NVA!
Deer are everywhere – and are so tame – even when you hit toward them
they do not move!
You have to be pretty good to hit them and we are not good! LOL
Our view from youngest daughter and husbands home!
We would have almost three months to wait before we left –
pack up and go –
to a place we had never been and found by accident
OCEAN KEYES – North Myrtle Beach
every day a 1/2 mile walk to the sand and water of the beach.
First – we had to downsize – made dozen of trips to the Salvation Army – sold almost 95% of our household furniture with the house ! And got ourselves a storage unit – one big enough to walk in and through all our “STUFF”!
I thought I would MISS STUFF but I don’t!
I have moved on – just as we were about to do!
But first saying our goodbyes – these are what I will miss – FAMILY!
You never get use to that – WHEN YOU THROW IT AWAY – REMEMBER THERE IS NO AWAY!
That is why we are back home for the Christmas time – for three weeks!
And we will come back again in late Feb. and early March.
They will come down to visit –
And our life will go on!
We will walk once again with them – we will share laughs – and in Jan. hope will bring them to us!We will meet up once again with old friends – laughing – exploring –And true to form – PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING! LOL!
ICE CREAM and a SMILE!
This one texts or calls everyday her MORMOR & PAPA!
FAMILY – fun times and memories made –
FUN TIMES and memories to be made!
NEW ADVENTURES AWAIT FOR THESE TWO – as we a\have traveled the World together and now they live only 40 miles from us!
Our friends of many years – Buck and Cindy – have lived down in N.C. for years
and now – we golf every week together.
Family is back home – friends are here!
Yes – the Sun set of a family home – the night before we left – rain shower cleaning the roadway – vagabonds!
We are blessed to have these places to stay –
and now – we have begun our new home build
and once again – it will become a FAMILY HOME!
Once again in the South – we will be together – family – as always – you never throw that away!
