Sherry walking the historic section of Conway S.C.
We like to explore and I love old towns and history of the area!
We had completed the River Walk and then headed onto main street.
This being Sunday – there were no stores open!
Which surprised me as there were lots of people on the River Walk.
A cool little garden and fountain just off main street!I assume this mural has a part of the history of this town!
Walking – taking in the sites – and then we both noticed just how many old
historic churches were here!
Maybe that is the reason for stores being closed on Sunday?
This church was too big to get in one photo – and had been built in the 1800’s!The first view you get of this church walking up to it – the previous picture was the center of the church! The right side of the church – this church took up almost the entire block!
We also looked at the first church that was built here
Thinking that the people had outgrown it!
The first church built in the early 1800’s!
A beautiful stain glassed window!
Thsi was a very solid built building
but I think it ended up being too small
So they constructed the second church!
I want to go back and spend more time reading the grave stones!
We also walked by one other large church that sat on the river-
and had drive up docks for boats
and signs for people who came to church using the River!
We did a job that Sherry has been wanting to do – wash the walls of the Lanai down by hand!
The Lanai is screened in and has a vinyl siding – which with storms – gets dirty.
So – with soap and water and some cloths – we cleaned it all down
Took us about two hours –
and then we treated ourselves to BEACH TIME!
A few people were out – being this was the middle of the week. It was in the low to mid 70’s!Looking South on North Myrtle Beach – we decided to walk North – toward the pier two miles away!
This day – we did not spend all the time sitting – but walking for most of it!
We walked to the pier two miles away!
We try to walk three miles a day – and as much of that we can on the beach!
Sherry – while walking – will do her network marketing business with her phone!
This has always been a dream of mine – walking in the sand and surf every day!
Always a view in the sky – dark clouds contrasting with white – and then blue skies – and sunshine!
We had never walked all the way to Cherry Grove – point pier –
And – along the way we collected shells for a church group back home!
Beyond the tall buildings – just visible – is the pier – so you can see just how far we walked!Tidal pools forming behind me as I walked through the surf. The water felt warm – and some pools we had to walk around as they were above our knees!
This day – just to walk was relaxing – cleaning the Lanai –
All the grand kids and their parents with Sherry and myself.
When this picture was taken – the only thing we had planned
was for her 16th. birthday – we would take Ella to Florida with us for a week.
She would go to Hollywood studios to see Star Wars!
When each grand child turns 16 – we do something special with them.
Maddy wanted to swim with the Manatee’s and we did that!
Growing up in the ’60’s – we never imagined taking trips with grandparents – mine were all gone by the time I was 16!
As the year progressed – plans were made and soon – we would leave for one month in Florida.
But first – quality time with the young ones.
I will for the rest of life see this as MORMOR and Taylor – walking hand in hand to church!
Although now she is only ten years old – she comes up to just under Sherry’s chin.
She is going to be very tall and loves horse back riding!
2019 was also the year we had friends from AZ. come to visit – and accomplished crossing off everything on their bucket list to see in DC. This is a reflection of Sherry among the ghosts of the Korean War.
Many friends visited over the 21 years we lived outside D.C.
We acted as tour guides – and in the year past – we toured almost every facility
there was to visit including the Capital Building which was a first for us!
The year in review – blessings will continue in the next blog!
We also venture to outside Raleigh – N.C. to visit her sister.
Here – we went to a farm that had what are called BELTED COWS – GOATS & CHICKENS!
They are white with a black belt around the middle!
Never heard of this and never saw this before!
Standing outside the pen with the goats – chickens and cows at the BELTED FARM!

Now that I am 70 years old ( young ) – time to reflect -just how did I get here and where am I going down that long ( sometimes) journey of life !
My niece Terri and my brother Mike – with me in the middle
When I was born – I already had a brother ten years old at the time and a sister fifth teen years old . So – I was like the second family – and it stayed that way until I was four plus ten months – and then Mike came – shortly before that – my sister – who had married – gave birth to Terri.
My early childhood – was spent with my Grand Ma – who lived with us at that time – she was in her late 70’s and early 80’s. She was Penn. Dutch – and they had twelve children. They lived on a farm and grand pa – was a big man. The story goes during the depression – he would carry meat and flour to the neighbors to help them out. There was no money – but he had a kind heart. I never knew him as he passed before I was born in ’49 – he was hoisting a pig up to the barn rafters and suffered a heart attack. There is a family history of heart attacks on this side – all his sons suffered the same .
David and Nora Aiken – my grand parents -who lived ” Down Home ” in Pa.Corsica.
She cared for me while my parents worked – my Mom at Alcas – now known as Cutco – in Olean N.Y. and my dad as a supervisor in the oil fields for South Penn oil company , known as Penns. oil.
Tom at around age 2 or 3.
It was at this time my mother would not let me take my shirt off outside – she said ” People will think I am starving you ” ! You could count every vein and bone on my chest ! Today – well – you would be hard pressed to find either ! Where did that go !!
My great – great grand father and grand mother – Frank Schick and Sara.
I do not know much about them – other then when young – my grandmother Nora – left home and followed the lumber camps through out Pa. cooking meals and that is where she met my grand father David. But – I am told that they were Pa. Dutch .
My father – Clarence Russel Fitzsimmons
My father – he would take me to work with him when I was young- to the oil fields – I still remember the smells and the sounds. The chill air and all the big bull dozers. The tool houses that they pulled around and me riding in the seat next to Pat Murphy. Then there was Junior Greenman – and a host of other colorful men – the mud and Earth chewed up by the tracks of the dozer. My dad passed early in my life – when I had just turned 19. His family came from Ireland – County Tyrone – so I was told. A tale of FIVE brothers who came here in the mid 19th. century. Seeking fame and fortune, only to find that IMMIGRANTS such as they were – looked down on – and treated very badly – in that aspect – not much has changed – will we ever learn ?
My mother – Mary Aiken Fitzsimmons who lived to be almost 98 !
Mary – as most people called her – MOM to me – she was small but feisty – she ruled – talked soft – but I listened to her – we all did. She outlived my younger brother and my older sister. She wore a ball cap that said – ” I’M THE BOSS ” ! But she also could bake – pies – buns – cakes and home made bread ! She was known all over for that. And she also was known to a LOT of people. She would sit on her front porch – and all day long – as cars went past – horns would honk- windows come down and a big ” HELLO MARY” would come forth. If I were there – I would ask her who that was -she would just say ” OH , SOMEONE , THEY ALL DO IT ” !!!!
My brother in law Bill and my sister Donna & me.
My sister Donna – she also helped to raise me – my Mom would walk my brother and me down the street at 5:45 am. We would walk the long steps up to their apartment – and lie down in the little room set aside with a couch. Here we would sleep another hour until she would wake us up to eat and then off to school. Bill – my brother in law – was the town Police chief – but also drove all over the East coast delivering meat for White Hawk Meat Company. One time up near Boston – he was at a truck stop – and in came a crew from a radio station. Looking for a human interest story. They interviewed him – as he was both a Police chief and a truck driver – and that show aired on the radio – he got a copy of it – Larry King did the interview ! My mother outlived both of them.
My brother Roger and me.
Growing up – I had one hero in life – my brother Roger, I looked up to him and tried my best to be just like him. He was my idol and ten years older. He went away to college and became a national ” WHO’S WHO” – from all over the USA. He went into the Navy in OCS- and was a LT. during the ‘NAM war. He never came back to our home town to live – I moved into his bedroom after he left for college. I still remember all the things he left behind – on the walls – the club room he and his friends had in our basement. In his later years – after his wife passed – we would spend our Winters with him in The Villages in Florida – where this picture was taken. Hero’s and idols – I had one – and it was him.
1967 – senior picture – Tom Fitzsimmons
My life as I know it – I am writing this now because I am the last one living. All have now gone before me. I needed to get it down for my sons – grand children – great nieces and great great nephew. My brothers children and their children. A history of growing up in a little town called Eldred in NWPA. In the mountains so lush and green.
I am in the autumn of my own life – and the main purpose of this blog is to record the memories I have. As I have been writing daily for the past 8 years – only to have them somewhere in face book land.
Tom & Sherry Fitzsimmons
I owe this all to my wife – Sherry – who encourages me to write it down as she often says. So – with that being said – going back to the beginning –
“Where does it say we have to “ACT” our age ?”
As long as it makes me happy and I’m not hurting anyone –
” I WILL ACT WHATEVER AGE I WANT TO ” !
Besides – I learned a long time ago – when you are married –
” IT’S NOT FOR ME TO QUESTION WHY – BUT FOR ME TO DO OR DIE ” !!! LOL
The concept of Team Generations came 13 years ago –
That is when Sherry introduced Juice Plus to our daughters.
Tammy and the twins Juice Plus babies
First was Tammy – who attended our first in house education
on Health and Nutrition with Pamela Sue –
one of two of our mentors – Sari being the other.
Pam is from the Big Island , HI.
Sari is from Atlanta Ga.
OMEGA’S GARDEN VINEYARD GARDEN The four staples of Plant Based Nutrition Tested FIVE times for pesticides From growers monitored by the JUICE PLUS COMPANY Now over 36 published researches in Medical Journals Tested by major institutions all over the World
Tammy was always first and foremost a healthy eater
Shunning fast food – eating Natural and Organic.
She caught on right away and signed up
as both a customer and a partner in the
Juice Plus Company.
Today – all three children are Juice Plus babies
meaning in the womb – she took the Juice Plus
Thus the babies absorbed all that nutrition the whole time !
Tammy Taylor left Cassidy right
They were born early by choice – as Taylor was taking all the fluid
She was growing while Cassidy was not
So at 32 to 33 weeks –
they came into the World
They were small – barely over two pounds with Taylor 13 oz.more !
But – there were no problems – they were perfectly healthy
and today continue as Taylor being bigger
Cassidy is normal size
But I think Taylor is going to be like her MORMOR ( Sherry ) 5 ‘ 10 !!!
Debby ( eldest ) Sherry She was suppose to be there but her youngest became ill and she had to turn around and go back home
Debby was sad – she had missed the education
But in talking to Tammy and Sherry –
She just knew what a opportunity she had
in helping her entire family getting healthy.
They had so many doctor visits
being ill all the time
That had all changed in the first six months
they started the Juice Plus road to health.
Today – all three daughters and her husband & herself
Zero times to the doctor in the past 11 years for sickness
Taylor ( 9) & Sherry Taylor is going to be tall like her MORMOR Swedish for Mother’s Mother
Today – Tammy is a Sales Coordinator –
while Debby is A QMND
Qualified National Marketing Director
Sherry is a Senior Sales Coordinator
All are living their dreams
Debby has passed her mother and is almost to the top as a NMD !
Debby has worked from home the last 11 years
Running her Juice Plus Business
While Sherry worked part time –
Debby did full time.
Sherry has retired early
and is full time in the Juice Plus Business
All three run the JPB from home.
No overhead
No inventory
And travel the Country every six months together
Promoting healthy change for family’s.
All this for a yearly fee of $50.00
You send in the order on your own website ( part of the fee)
The JP company packages-ships and collects the $$
from the customer and pays you a commission
and deposits it monthly into your own bank account.
Tammy has opened a second business
A high end Kids Consignment shop
while still running her Juice Plus Business
Today Sherry leads the team –
Called TEAM GENERATIONS
Named so that it stands for Mothers – Daughters – grandchildren – great grand children.
As each Generation arrives
It is with the knowledge of adding insurance
in living healthy – as best we can.
With the research – we know we are on the right track.
A MOTHER AND TWO DAUGHTERS

all over the country.
Helping people one day a time.
