Papa’s World – on our first night staying with our daughters house – STORM rolls in!

We had arrived and settled in from Winchester – Lake Holiday – Cross Junction – our other daughters home.

The day was uneventful until late afternoon – the sky turned deep gray – and the clouds seemed to be rolling!

They were scary – rolling across the sky!

A storm was coming!

It was like this in front of the house also – the wind picked up and we could hear thunder in the distance

to the West.

In the distance – sort of pink clouds – but overhead – dark gray!

Lightening began and then the rain came!

The wind picked up – looking out the front window – I could see the major portion of the storm –

coming over the hills toward us – flashes and then the thunder.

Then the first time we lost all lights!

The electric went out!

The rain came in hard – beating against the front windows!

The lights came back on!

The thunder continued and flashes of lightening!

Did not seem to phase the newest member of the family – MARLEY!

The electric went out several times and came back on – the rain got harder – later we learned trees had come down

and one house was struck by lightening out Winchester way and burned down.

It was a severe storm – first one of the late spring – and then the lights went our for good!

We all decided after it calmed down – with no lights but still a little daylight to see –

to just go to bed while we still could see.

Later – the electric came back – I think it was out a couple hours – and then we had to get up and turn lights off!

A eventful first night back at our daughters house in Leesburg Va.

Papa’s World – sometimes – it is relaxing after a nice day – to just sit on the beach!

After dinner – we decided to drive to the beach – get out our chairs and just take it all in for a hour!

Sherry is always drawn to the surf – walking in the water – still too cold for me! LOL

The only downside to this was the wind – it was strong – and would get into your eyes!

Hardly anyone down here even though it was the mid ’70’s out!

We only brought with us our water – and a lot of people walked past us – but only a few sitting on the sand.

The relaxing nature – the quiet – only birds – sounds of the waves.

Here you can see what the wind does when it is strong and blowing – it makes the sand look like waves – no footprints remain even though people are walking by!

It was a good hour to visit regardless of the wind!

Papa’s World – walking the beach – no buildings here – just wide endless beach – Cherry Point!

We decided for their last beach walk on a cold windy day –

to take them to the far end of Cherry Grove to a place the local’s call Cherry Point!

To get to the beach – you must park along the road and then walk through this covered path!

The path to the beach is overhanging tree limbs with lots of shrubs and bushes.

Once you walk through there – you are greeted to a wide expanse of beach to the left.

The right goes back toward the houses and pier.

The view to the left and almost low tide!

It was cold and windy – and we wanted to walk way out as it seemed at low tide you might be able to walk to the other shore.

Here you can see a few brave souls – walking – and the wind was really blowing!

Ella and Sarah – laughing and trying to stay warm in the blowing wind!

We walked maybe a half mile – and decided enough – it was just too cold and so windy!

One last picture with Ella – Debby Sherry and Sarah before heading back to the car.

I told Sherry – when it gets warmer and is low tide – we must come back and just see if we can walk across the bay!

Papa’s World – when friends meet up in the cold – bundle up – and enjoy!

It was not planned – but we had weeks and weeks of non stop rain!

So – Sherry made the call – what are you doing to our friends

who now live some 50 miles from us!

Lets get together – you come here for a over night stay –

we will walk the beach if it does not rain!

So – they did – came down and stayed overnight!

Yep – story of our lives now!

We played cards – laughed – and walked.

The rain held off and the Sun came out – but was still cold!

We made the most of it!

Papa and Buck – on the beach – girls were going to walk to Cherry Grove Pier – we would walk back to the condo – pick up the car – and go back and pick them up!

They walked the two miles up to the pier –

we walked the mile back to the condo –

The wind was blowing – but on the beach –

The ladies said the sun kept them warm.

We picked up our car and drove up to the pier –

and got out and met them just as they arrived!

The pier at Cherry Grove – there were surfers in the water!

We walked a short distance up the beach –

Before we decided to get in the car and drive around.

We showed them the canals and cottages.

Stopped at the boat landing – and then returned to the condo!

So ended another great time with friends –

No rain – walking – games and just great fun.

Inside “WICKED TUNA” by the pier – Myrtle Beach , S.C.

We had been out shopping for furniture and were down in this area

by the Boardwalk on the Grand Strand.

We decided to stop back in –

and it was so windy and cold – we stopped our walk and went back to the car

and drove here instead of walking!

On a warmer day – some days are warm and coat less – others – you just do not want to walk!
Looking back toward the boardwalk of Myrtle Beach – note the flags – wind blowing!

We had purchased furniture and needed to plan our second stop!

We had been here before and enjoyed it!

When we went in – we were the only people there!

We had the whole place to ourselves!

The view we had from our table – the pier – deserted and no one on the beach!

The first thing they wanted to do was walk the beach!

Now – wouldn’t you know it that it got cold and windy the day they arrived!

It was so warm the day before people were sitting on the beach and wading in the water!

So we pressed on and walked down and onto the beach.

The wind was the culprit – making it very cold.

Even Bode has enough even though he had no shoes on!

We walked to the next beach entrance and exited!

It was a very short walk – but they got to see just how close we are!

Tammy said the kids were great – she had told them she would not stop and she didn’t making the seven hour drive in a little over six hours and they never complained!

Papa’s World – Sunrise – Windy beach – Full Moon – Charlie Brown Christmas!

NO IT DOES NOT GET OLD!
TWO AND ONE HALF MONTHS – WAKING UP TO THIS!

Every morning – the sunrise from our condo –

it paints a different sky each day.

I watch this as it develops each morning –

Sherry has the same view from our bedroom!

She has almost never seen the sunrise – but now she wakes up to this

and has almost trained herself to wake up to it!

Some days – we walk when we should of just stayed inside! LOL

Those days are mostly when the high winds are around.

One is because of the giant trees here!

They are high above our fourth floor condo!

And branches – even though small – come down!

We do not want to get hit by them!

The wind causing the sand to blow across the beach!
You can see that when it is windy – very few people venture forth! The sand is blown across all but wiping out the footprints!

Papa and MorMor – we tried as you can see –

but the wind was so strong –

and the sand was stinging our faces!

We decided not to for go a walk here

and instead walked the sidewalks where it was bearable!

We returned to the condo after getting in our three mile

beach less walk!

There are days such as this that we also do our errands!

Or go to a late lunch early dinner

when no one is around

keeping social distance!

Back at the condo – we await the late show

not on TV but outside

once again in the dark sky

the rising of not the sun

but the full moon!

Both sun rise and moon lit nights from our own private Lanai!

Papa’s World – a walk on Cherry Grove beach!

If you want a place of solitude –

a place to reflect –

A place untouched –

just water – sand – and sea grass and the head of a marsh

on the Ocean –

Then head to the far end of CHERRY GROVE – S.C.

We decided since it was a rather cold – 55 degrees –

very windy day – bursts of blasting winds!

We would drive North along our beach road –

to the end of Cherry Grove –

we had seen a covered beach entrance there

and wondered where it led to!

Now – we had no idea – where this path would lead us!

But – it also broke the bursts and gusts of wind!

After walking through the bushes and trees – the entrance to the deserted beach!

We found where the development ended and the natural beach began!

Blowing sand across the beach – dead wood almost covered by sand!

No one was here – and I thought – when it gets warmer –

we need to come back!

Not a soul for miles and miles!

We started out walking – but the wind made it hard!

Sand was blowing across our path and some stinging our eyes!

Sherry pulled her hood up – I had one of those neck things you slide down over your head!

It was so calming – and I thought –

this is what the beach looked like hundreds of years ago!

As far as you could see – no buildings – no people!

In the distance – a waterway to the marsh side bay!

The tide was going out – exposing the flat beach!

But – it was really blowing –

making the walk almost too hard to do!

A very large tree – 50 plus feet long – washed up on the shore!

We came across a large tree – almost covered with sand –

The ocean had deposited it there.

I wondered just where it came from?

We decided to turn around –

we had walked 2/3 of a mile!

We would come back and explore father.

One for another day!
