Papa’s World – she picked her choice from two – Ella is playing College Soccer!

Ella – back when I called her ‘TINY” – a nickname her father to this day still calls her!

When she was small – she would follow me around –

when there was company she was not sure about –

she would hold my pant leg or climb up into my lap.

OH – TO HAVE THOSE DAYS ONCE AGAIN!

She has the kindest heart – always doing things you ask of her with no complaint.

Our only grand son – Bode – adores her – hanging onto her as she did to me.

She has had a trying past four or five years –

Twice braking a bone in her feet

so that she was in casts and crutches so she could not play soccer.

Missing valuable time – but when she did

she proved she belonged out there!

She caught the coaches eyes when she played – and when healthy – she was voted MVP of her JV team – alongside of her sister – who was voted MVP of her varsity team!

Today – she has sprouted up – four inches taller than her big sister

who is in her second year of college soccer at University of Lynchburg.

Ella and Maddy – loved these two little ones.

With all the adversity of her broken bones in her feet

and this past year – her senior year – because of the Pandemic

her soccer season was postponed to be played in the Spring

if they can!

The whole World has changed – but for Ella – she had choices.

Two of them – where to go to college and which coach to play for!

Not a easy choice for a 17 year old!

Taking classes on line – working her job and not playing H.S. soccer

although she did play travel team this past fall.

Ella – when she is able to play – shows great speed and control

Those two teams and coaches recruited her

attending her games when she played

It would be a hard choice to make!

Sisters – Ella will be attending Randolph College – playing against Maddy at the University of Lynchburg with youngest sister Sarah – only 14 years old!

She now is almost 5′ 9″ tall – TINY has grown up!

Papa’s World – Living with kids before we left – vagabonds – traveling!

Here we are – in our early ’70’s – homeless – living with daughters –

until we pack up and head South

to North Myrtle Beach S.C.

First thing we do as vagabonds – is play some golf!

We made it a point – have fun – play golf – and enjoy the warm weather while we can!

Here we played one of our favorite courses in NVA!

Deer are everywhere – and are so tame – even when you hit toward them

they do not move!

You have to be pretty good to hit them and we are not good! LOL

Our view from youngest daughter and husbands home!

We would have almost three months to wait before we left –

pack up and go –

to a place we had never been and found by accident

OCEAN KEYES – North Myrtle Beach

every day a 1/2 mile walk to the sand and water of the beach.

First – we had to downsize – made dozen of trips to the Salvation Army – sold almost 95% of our household furniture with the house ! And got ourselves a storage unit – one big enough to walk in and through all our “STUFF”!

I thought I would MISS STUFF but I don’t!

I have moved on – just as we were about to do!

But first saying our goodbyes – these are what I will miss – FAMILY!

You never get use to that – WHEN YOU THROW IT AWAY – REMEMBER THERE IS NO AWAY!

That is why we are back home for the Christmas time – for three weeks!

And we will come back again in late Feb. and early March.

They will come down to visit –

And our life will go on!

We will walk once again with them – we will share laughs – and in Jan. hope will bring them to us!
We will meet up once again with old friends – laughing – exploring –
And true to form – PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING! LOL!
ICE CREAM and a SMILE!
This one texts or calls everyday her MORMOR & PAPA!

FAMILY – fun times and memories made –

FUN TIMES and memories to be made!

NEW ADVENTURES AWAIT FOR THESE TWO – as we a\have traveled the World together and now they live only 40 miles from us!

Our friends of many years – Buck and Cindy – have lived down in N.C. for years

and now – we golf every week together.

Family is back home – friends are here!

Yes – the Sun set of a family home – the night before we left – rain shower cleaning the roadway – vagabonds!

We are blessed to have these places to stay –

and now – we have begun our new home build

and once again – it will become a FAMILY HOME!

Once again in the South – we will be together – family – as always – you never throw that away!

Papa’s World – A brand new car – after SEVEN YEARS!

2020 Rav4 XLE Hybrid

We bought our last car in 2013 –

and in seven years – 126,000 miles!

Yes – we do travel the roads –

and the main thing we wanted –

was gas mileage!

Our Prius V 3 wagon – Toyota – got 40 to 44 MPG!

WE LOVE TO GOLF

That car had exceptional room when you put the seats down.

And we knew when we move to South Carolina for five months

along with everything we must take – the clubs also were going!

Roof rack and basket carrier

We could do it – but it would be packed to the ceiling

and we would not be able to see out the back!

This one – we wanted the Roof rack –

and then we went and bought a basket carrier and installed it!

We also ordered a soft side roof top carrier!

Our old car had no roof racks!

Sherry does everything on her phone!

So now – we are in the learning process as this car does everything

and then some through your smart phone!

But – one thing we found out is that Sherry must have her phone

when we travel for her internet business

and it must be free to do this – so we plug in my phone

as I really do not like phones and mostly take pictures with mine! LOL

That way when we google maps – there is no interference

As we are driving and getting directions!

YES – I HAVE TO HAVE DIRECTIONS!

Or I will get lost!

This car also has a ton of safety features – which Sherry loves!

All pertain to driving – blind side – auto lights –

cruise control radar ( it can almost steer itself)

It will detect a car in front and behind you.

A wide vision when backing up with guide lines!

PLUS IT REALLY LOOKS SLEEK!

There are many – many more extras

and some we are just learning how to use!

The main thing is gas mileage – and this one has it!

Right now we are averaging 42 to 44 MPG!

And – even though I have not used it – POWER!

IT IS A HYBRID WITH POWER!

It has three different modes –

One is ECO – going back and forth from gas to battery!

Two is power – Gas only with a three speed manual transmission.

Three is battery – battery only – you can travel about 1 1/2 miles.

And it is fast going zero to sixty – if you want to.

Our Prius V wagon 3 served us well for seven years.

Now we have a road trip vehicle with storage on the roof

and storage – a little more room inside

and capable of good gas mileage!

Papas World – As we give – we shall receive – Humanity.

Every one loves you
#inthistogether

So the sign read & I had no idea who laid it on the porch!

Then Sherry got the text from a friend of hers

whom she networks with!

Just as I brought it inside –

She had left it and wanted to make sure we knew

before the high winds took it away!

Sherry and Papa

In all this Sheltering in place –

DAY# 31 to be exact for us –

The unexpected seems to become the norm.

We have been saving newspapers for who I call

“THE CAT LADY” simply because she recuses stray cats!

Every two weeks during this time

we load the car with the paper bags

and drive the 8 miles to her house.

Where we take them and sit on her front porch

and then text her that they are there.

We also have been delivering to friends
the face masks that Sherry has been sewing
along with other personal items
all the while never coming in contact
with people staying yards and yards away.

This past Saturday – we drove 45 minutes to meet our oldest daughter

and one of the grand daughters

to give them our extra Tower Garden!

We have THREE producing and they had one.

Now – they will have two with one outside!

I have found that in these times

The abnormal has now become the normal.

When we met up – Ella stayed in the car waving.

I transferred everything and we stayed a car length apart.

That was hard – but on the upside-

We had been in a quandary over how to buy our outdoor flowers

as we did not want to mix with people.

The abnormal
has become the normal

The place we met – has flowers and only two shoppers were there.

Plus it was set up where you could not go inside to pay

We were able to select our flats of flowers

pay without getting close to anyone

and load them into the car!

EVERYONE LOVES YOU

Papa's World -my memory lane – my soul – my life.

I am nearing the last part of my life

and I find it reasonable to just say no

to injustice – to unreal expectations

and yes

to to my integrity

my convictions

and my thoughts.

And I choose not become involved in a senseless argument

I select people who are like minded

I listen – I think –

and I make my intentions known

only when asked to do so.

I AM ME !

I am the one to the left

I am the one who thinks ahead

I am the one who organizes

I am the one who cares

I AM ME!

I am enjoying what time I have left

I am a planner

I look forward

and share my memories

I am much like a tree

I AM ME!

I see funny things

I smile with my thoughts

I shed private tears

I try to be good

I try to share

I TRY TO BE ME!

I AM ME !

Papas World – golfing- staying in touch – 38 yrs.

We played softball together in the mid ’70’s

and continued until I turned 40.

Then I played volleyball –

sometimes we played together

when I turned 48 –

I was getting too old – I turned to golf

and today – we still get together

drink a few beers and swing away

me more often than him! LOL

My buddy Jim

I am 9 years older – but we first met on the softball field

I went to his wedding

and we have been friends ever since.

We worked together before we moved

and along the way he introduced me to his friend Buck!

Buck Tom Jim
the three Amigo’s
as my wife Sherry says!

We ended up living right across the street from Buck and Cindy.

And we all would meet up-

and to this day some 35 plus years later – we still do!

Sherry Buck Cindy Dottie

Every 4 to 6 months we try to do this –

going from one house to the other

Buck and Cindy live just South of Wilmington N.C. now.

Jim and Dottie now live in Va. Beach area.

And of course we live SW of DC.

Our journey from back home – NWPA and SWNY has evolved

But we still stay in touch!

Sherry Dottie Cindy

These three together laugh and laugh –

and they sneak the fireball!

Esp. when we golf – it almost always is guys vs. the gals.

And let me tell you – NO STROKES !

Jim wants to give strokes -and they will whip us!

We have played for years and years even up

and most often it comes down to one stroke difference!

Jim and Sherry

We all were Bills fans – we kind of adopted the Redskins

only because when we moved -no one carried the Bills.

We tried for three years – there were two Sports bars

but it took a long time to get to them in DC traffic.

So – we still followed the Bills and watched the skins.

Cindy Jim Sherry Dottie

But Cindy and Buck – Dottie and Jim have remained die hard Bills Fans!

We got together this season in Wilmington

and all went to a Sports bar called the Lazy Pirate –

where we watched the Bills win!

Cindy Buck Sherry Tom

On our trip to Northern California – at a Sports bar –

in old town Sacramento!

We have been trying to get Jim and Dottie to come along

with us on one of our trips.

Maybe this year they will!

Sherry Dottie Buck
Cindy Tom Jim

It will happen one of these times

Maybe Nashville – or Gatlinburg or Oregon!

Who know where it will be next!

This is us
