Papa’s World – Writing a Positive Blog!

Every morning – six to seven AM.

I sit at my keyboard and write a blog –

This is a way for me to express myself without going Political!

It is a way to JOG my memory for family – friends and neighborhood –

and where are our senior years we have decided this is the place we shall stay in!

When I started this blog –

my whole effort was going to revolve around a day-to-day account of how we live our lives.

It also would become a daily journal for our future great-grandchildren and beyond to read someday!

You see – I have very few words and pictures from my side of the family except what I have as a memory!

This writing is for my sons from a previous marriage as well as my two stepdaughters!

Almost all the family I grew up with is now gone.

I have one great-niece and two great-nieces left plus their children.

Sherry and I had no children together –

But we have been married for almost 43 years –

and together a year and one half before that wedding day 6-25-1982!

Our whole wedding vows were based on THE CHURCH ON THE ROCK!

Our wedding vows were “ROCK SOLID”!

Those little things in life –

We both do them well-

and in turn –

It mostly takes care of the bigger things in life!

It comes naturally for both of us!

EQUALITY – my belief and hers also.

We share duties –

EXCEPTION – I AM TO STAY AWAY FROM THE WASHER AND DRYER! LOL

Dinner – lunch and breakfast we share –

Clean up and cleaning in general we both do.

Making the bed – both of us.

I do not like to dust so she does while I dust mop the floors.

In retirement now in OIB –

The lawn we pay to have mowed-

We both trim bushes and plant flowers.

Both of us have a deep understanding of this –

And I have always championed EQUALITY –

MEN AND WOMEN – WOMEN AND MEN –

BOTH EQUAL IN OUR MINDS!

The statue of the great women of our country –

It is not complete but a vacant spot left for the FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT!

That day in OUR MINDS will eventually come to be true!

I hope this POSITIVE BLOG brings good thoughts to you-

My intent is to provide humor – good thoughts –

To give future generations an idea of just who we are!

Thought for the day –

I started this blog at a request from my wife Sherry –

“You write on social media –

but it goes into the cloud never to be seen again –

you need to have it in a place where you store it”!

So – my WordPress blog began –

my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

This was a daily journal of our lives –

families and friends.

Now – today – it still progresses –

with 642 members worldwide.

Above was a snapshot-

of when I opened my blog and went to “STATS”!

My blog posts worldwide at midnight –

and I wake up –

and past midnight I copy and paste it on FaceBook.

at that time in the morning –

People in these countries have already read it!

I am amazed at this –

And today my journal on life continues!

Thank each and every one of you for reading this!

A memory from when I step out of the front door-

into our driveway and look East –

The sun is rising

and the beginning of a new day is arriving!

A new memory is being formed –

We selected this lot for this reason –

Seeing Sunrises and Sunsets-

from the front driveway!

and Jimmy is in the middle.

Buck was my neighbor back in WNY –

And Jim and I are from the same little town –

and played softball together!

We have remained friends all these years –

and get together –

three or four times a year.

MEMORIES OF LIFETIME FRIENDS!

Trisha and Shawn –

my daughter-in-law and my son.

They are both from Pa. –

and still live near where I was raised as a youth.

They make the long trip down here to OIB –

some 16 hours –

driving and stopping.

Each time is a new memory in the making.

SOME THOUGHTS AND MEMORIES!

Papa’s World – A cool walk on the beach – 3.6 miles

We took our wind breakers – it started off cool!

But – soon they came off and wrapped around our waists.

” It was a cool day” – the song running through my head!

It was one of those days where we just walked and walked!

Sherry – looking at the reflection on the water

You – know – some days are better than others –

Some days you just get lost in your thoughts –

The soothing sound of the surf –

The birds – the warm Sun –

SOME DAYS ARE GOOD DAYS!

When you live one day at a time –

you reflect back on each of them.

What is the meaning of that day?

Moving forward – one step at a time.

The wonder of nature – the stillness of your mind –

Thinking – wondering and appreciating each moment in time.

Walking – walking – walking

The shells lay crushed beneath your steps

The sky is changing

life is moving on with each step you take.

My glasses are tinted – the reflection is a reflection of time passing

No words – just thoughts – memories flashing by –

Your mind reflecting back what you see.

The upen air – the smell of the sea –

the noise of life continuing on as it has for eons.

Your look at life – your events unfolding as you walk.

You gaze forward realizing you have waled a long ways!
The end of the beach walk – WOW! 3.6 miles – just like that!

Without thinking – without knowing the distance as it past by you –

You have walked and walked – 3.6 miles!

Life is certainly good when all it takes is time – thoughts and memories –

It happens like that –

” ON A COOL DAY” as the song goes –

HEALING – MOVING ON!!

I started this blog with the idea of putting my thoughts

into writing – trying to keep it simple

and good humored –

about family – friends and my life

I spread happiness
whenever I can
something positive
something funny
and something
to feel good about!

There is so much negative – so many postings that hurt.

So – here I am – bearing my soul!

I am too!

For to be able to post everyday

and to scroll past the negative

I welcome being the quote above!

And my wife
is the same way
a little bit left
of where I fit in
but we always agree
to disagree
and move on!

And I am fortunate to have found her

When we made our vows all those years ago

The sermon was based on

The Church on a rock

as in foundation

That remains true 38 years later!

HOW TRUE IS THIS!
LOL

Not a day goes by –

“Have you seen my phone”?

LOL

And this is true
about me!
LOL

She is the driver on health

walking – ( I DO NOT RUN) !

Been there – done that –

and I always end up hurting myself!

But she is a runner

she likes it

and has always placed high in her age group!

I am not a drinker!

I – for some reason – do not like wine!

Nor do I do SHOTS!

Not into Whiskey etc.

I will drink beer –

but it has to be light!

Generally – I am not a drinker –

but with our friends

I can hold my own!

And that is rare when it happens!

We had a dog!

A few years before we moved South

we had to put her down

she had been with us for almost 14 years!

I held her on the way to the vet.

She would lose the ability to walk

Her hind legs just would not work!

She licked my face –

Sherry drove – I cried!

And that day in my mind I made a pact with her-

She would be the last – but never forgotten

R.I.P. Samantha – Sam for short.

One of the great!

My first Super bowl watching

on a color TV!

It was in the I think mid 60’s.

My father was part owner

of the Western Auto in the small town

I grew up in.

On the floor was the first color TV in that store.

We gathered there and watched the game!

The next week – it was in our living room!

Prior to that –

He came home and announced

WE WERE GOING TO HAVE COLOR

on our TV!

He then put this plastic colored film

over the black and white TV!

IT WAS GREEN ON THE BOTTOM!

BLUE ON THE TOP!

AND ORANGE – YELLOW – RED IN THE MIDDLE!

That was the rage back then –

Funny today!

My mother – God bless her!

We all ate at the table –

my younger brother

My older brother and sister – 10 & 15 years older

were gone – college and married

Friday’s were no meat –

pancakes –

Salmon patties – and my dads favorite

OUSTER SOUP!

I do not know how he ate that!

But he sat at the head of the table

with a hot electric griddle

And flipped pancakes

while my mom stood by the stove

Frying the salmon patties!

I still can see and smell it today

The best of home cooking

and my mom baked cookies- rolls and bread every day!

And home made pies and cake!

She was known all over town for her baking!

I can cook!

I think I got that from my mother –

And I really do not need instructions

I just sort of remember and just wing it!

Sherry -not that way –

and she is a excellent cook

love her homemade soups!

This would be me!

I am neither half full

or half empty

I love solving problems and organizing

and I pay attention to details

I am a bull dog when it comes to doing something

once I start

( that sometimes is not starting)

I carry on to the end!

Ask me to arrange a outing –

and I am on it!

Just something I am good at!

However – working on a car – repairing something-

well – I have no patience –

and if something breaks or goes wrong

I am done – and that is what I am bad at!

This is me!

That is exactly me and why I titled it that way!

It works for me

But I have a partner who watches over me

who takes care of me

who is my one and only soul mate

That allows me to be me!

Who is my caution

Who is my sounding board

Who is my opposite

and that is why it works so well!
