Papa’s World – Memories from the past part NINE!

THE VILLAGES – FLORIDA

Many a day and night spent here in Lake Sumpter – dancing – listening to the live bands.

My brother’s house was within walking distance of the town square.

We would visit him for 6 to 8 weeks after the new year.

Every morning we would get up and walk our three miles early.

MEMORIES of my brother and The Villages.

My brother Roger and some of his friends.

Growing up – he is ten years older – I envisioned him as my hero.

He left for college and never moved back – instead lived in numerous places across the country.

The last ten years of his life were spent in The Villages – at first with his wife – who passed away.

The last six years of his life – we would spend 6 to 8 weeks with him.

He wanted us to move down and be with him.

But – we had too many small growing grandchildren.

Roger and Sherry

Sherry loved my brother and he – her – so many things we did together – golfing – happy hours.

We would explore areas outside of the villages –

He owned two golf carts and we would go on all the cart trails.

He knew everyone from memory and short cuts.

We had a app on her phone that gave directions on the miles and miles of cart paths.

MEMORIES OF MY BROTHER ROGER AND IN FLORIDA: THE VILLAGES

In loving memory – my brother Roger – someday we three will meet again.

Papa’s World – A visit by the Jones – family time and exploring!

Kristie – Maya – Olivia – Casey Jones – Sherry’s niece and family from N.C.

We had visitors for the weekend – from N.C. around three hours away.

Daughter and family of Sherry’s sister.

Sisters Olivia and Maya

The little ones were so excited – to finally be able to go somewhere

all due to the pandemic.

We tested – they rested and everything was good.

We only had one full day to explore – so we took them to Vareen Memorial Garden.

To hike and gather shells.

We also hit the beach for a short walk but it was windy and cold.

Searching for shells along the ICW – they even felt the water! LOL

PAPA’S WORLD Next blog – MAKE A WISH – FAMILY JONES!

Papa’s World – sister – beach –

Sherry’s sister Debbie – came for a visit – 5 days four nights.

Debbie

We will be here a total of five months –

Ocean Keyes – North Myrtle Beach

and she would be our first visitor.

We spent three days either sitting – walking or both

on the beach!

Watching fishermen catching sand shark and two rays!
One of the two rays caught
This fisherman would wade through the surf – going way out and then casting his line!
The beach is very wide here even during high tide!

We would go to the beach around 3 PM. and stay a couple hours.

Walking in the surf and watching all the locals.

The water was around 74 degrees.

And the weather beautiful at 82 degrees!

Sometimes we would walk down –

if we had no chairs –

other times we would drive down and park

carrying everything in the trunk

There are

Jhonny on the spots

And showers to wash off the sand at almost every parking lot!

Sherry doing her network business from the beach!

In all – we really like this beach here – it is quiet – wide and clean.

Debbie had a great time – walking – sitting and just relaxing.

Papa and Sherry – ” Beaching it”!
