Papa’s World – looking forward – vagabonds!

This move has gone easier than I thought it would!

We had to go back to the old house to pick up mail

that somehow did not get forwarded.

A long time ago in Williamsburg Va.

Sherry asked me “Do you miss it”?

No – I said – we spent 14 years here –

and the thing I miss the most is the yard

and all the trees and bushes I planted.

And the other thing is the walking trails!

We had almost 18 miles of walking trails!

Those I miss as I look around driving through the neighborhood.

The thousands of times we walked that sidewalk or that road

to get to the paths.

To walk we never needed to drive anywhere!

Or to ride our bikes!

It was all there!

At a conference for The Juice Plus Company

We always traveled out of state –

we have many friends across the nation.

So – now we have no ties to a home!

And we have plans – five months in North Myrtle Beach

WHY?

Because we want to explore our options

just to see if we like that area!

We also want to check out the Va. Beach area and into N.C.

I am waiting to see how the packages will work

at our new address! LOL!!!!

We will meet up with our oldest friends –

We will explore their area.

But for now – like the song says

“NO SHOES – NO SHIRT – NO WORRIES”!

“NO MORTGAGE – NO TAXES – NO HOA”!

Papas World – The home base with the 3 little ones!

We have sold the house and moved in with our daughter

and family.

These are our youngest grand children –

The twins – Taylor – the tallest – Cassidy the short one.

And our grand son Bode.

Bode and Cassidy are two peas in a pod!

Being the only boy with five grand daughters

he has become my little buddy!

We are here as sort of a home base –

and will also stay with our other daughter Debby

in Cross Junction Va. at Lake Holiday.

In Lake Holiday with Debby

The three oldest are Maddy – Ella and Sarah.

We will spend time with them but the older two work.

We have been welcomed with open arms –

But our plan is not to infringe – we will travel –

help out when we can and see where we end up.

But for now – I am in a warm fuzzy place

Watching and enjoying each and every moment.

The innocence – the watching them grow up.

And the quiet time of a IPAD –

With all three so quiet and focused.

We have landed in the right place-

Home base with the three little ones

and every so often with the three big ones.

Life is good and we are blessed.

Papa’s World – The walk through – pushed up!

It was Thursday – 6-25-20 – almost 4 PM. – we had to stop at Harris Teeter.

That was the moment Sherry got the text!

From our real estate rep.

” THE BUYERS WANTED TO DO THE WALK THROUGH AT 9:30 AM.”

Instead of Monday – it would be the next day!

We had less than 17 1/2 hours!

Now did we panic – I did but my stable other half

remained cool – calm and collected!

“Okay – we will do this – and by 8:00 AM. – we will be done”!

That is when we went into over drive!

We had just made our next to last trip to our daughters house.

Taking most of our clothes – shoes etc.

We knew we had one more trip to the storage unit.

The final load would be our day to day things.

That – I had hoped – would take one trip!

The biggest problem – it was our wedding day – 38 years ago!

And we had planned to go out for the first time in 103 days!

A actual sit down dinner – as we are now able to do that!

Well – we shall see – but first – we can do this!

And then if we have time – we will go she said!

And we did it! We finished packing up !

Loaded the car and made that final trip to the storage unit!

She texted our daughter – we will be staying Friday night

instead of Sunday night!

Now it is around 2:45 am. I woke up –

after a little over five hours of sleep!

I am down stairs – first cup of coffee done.

I look around – we will strip the bed – and pack the car.

Then – the final clean.

It will be done by 8:30 am.

And we will be on our way to our daughters house!

Oh – I forgot to mention – I had to mow the lawn!

My plan had been to do it Thursday evening and it was long

with all the rain and hot sunny days! DONE!!!

This will be my last blog from our home.

The house will be empty except what they purchased

plus numerous other household goods we left.

Another chapter has come to a close – the book remains.

We are living as my blog reads –

Only – she has stabled my life – cool – calm & collected!

Thank you for reading Papa’s World.

Papas World – It is early – I look around – almost done!

It is early Thursday morning – I awoke at 3 am.!

Too much on my mind!

I look around – the car is packed

The next to final trip to Tammy and Marcus house

where we will establish a home base.

Then one more trip to the storage unit –

and finally the last trip – lock up and leave

We are changing – evolving – dreaming

a new adventure awaits – it is fun selecting places

seeing rentals – looking at real estate for sale!

We will go to where our eyes take us

but stay where our heart finds home!

We will seek warmth – sunshine & golf!

It is finally time to do that!

Living in NVA is $$$$ to golf!

Owning a home in NVA – well taxes are high

as is the HOA – and while we love our dream home

At our age – maintaining it is costly.

New roof – trim painted outside – new HVAC

A new fence was on the horizon –

Our home I must say is nearly perfect

The lawn I was told looks like Augusta National!

New Bamboo flooring – new fridge –

But we loved it and the way of life.

I guess it was the pandemic and the stock market that gave us thought.

Now was the time – the value was up and the market strong.

We have choices – places to live –

friends and family to visit

and God willing – grand daughters soccer to watch.

Once again we will laugh with the friends we have held close

for almost 38 years.

She will continue her home based internet business

Health – family – nutrition where ever we go.

Yes – I look around – almost finished – today I watch Bode

Sherry will help Tammy who is getting ready to reopen her store

529Kidsconsignment – closed because of the pandemic.

Taylor and Cassidy have tennis lessons

Yes – I was up early – yes I look around – time for coffee –

Almost done – almost 14 years here –

our dream home – now another dream begins

Thank you for reading Papa’s World

DREAM ON – I am awake now – time for coffee!

Papas World – Packing up “STUFF” – WOW!

Now that we have sold the house – we continue to clean out cupboards!

How in the world did we accumulate all the “STUFF”?

Men go shopping – straight in and back out again!

Women go shopping and “STUFF” happens!

Another morning – another cupboard – another card board box-

Never ending – it seems I fill up the garage space

then load into our Prius V – with the seats folded down.

And off to the storage unit we go with “STUFF”!

I have to admit – some of the “STUFF” is mine.

But it is “STUFF” I use! LOL

Dealing with “STUFF” is much like above picture –

It is endless!

I learned a long time ago –

“IT IS NOT FOR ME TO QUESTION WHY? BUT FOR ME TO DO OR DIE!”

“STUFF” can’t live without it!

Or so I am told!

Sherry – my wife – is the proud owner of “STUFF” –

and that is why I fell in love with her all those years ago.

“STUFF” is what marriages are made of –

Good “STUFF” – Bad “STUFF” – Together “STUFF”

“STUFF” is what makes the World go around!

No one I would rather have “STUFF” with than my wife – Sherry –

She is what “STUFF” in life for me is all about!

Papas World – a date to remember – June 5th.

It all started for me on June 5th. 1967 –

one week out of H.S. graduation.

The previous September – I was in a car accident

And at that point – I did not know if I would walk again.

I spent all 51 days in bed – in traction – unable to get up.

But – I beat it – my pelvis had broken – and numerous other difficulties

including catheterization for 41 days

and a high draft number – precluded me from the military.

No money – a child to support – no college.

June 5th. 1967 – my first day of work for American Olean Tile Company.

That date once again came into play in a major way on June 5th. 1999.

That was my last working day at the same place I started 32 years prior!

Only this time – I and my wife whom also worked there –

Were transfering to the Washington D.C. area in what is known as

Northern Virginia.

Fairfax to be exact.

We both would work for the company –

now owned by Mohawk – only at different sites.

Her in Dulles and me in Alexandria – Springfield area.

Our two daughters – my step daughters for almost 38 years

followed us to NVA.

And the next part of the June 5th. recurring date –

Last night – Friday June 5th. 2020 –

We signed the paperwork to list and sell our house

in Brambleton Va. In the pouring down rain.

We decided it is time to move on – to wander – to seek out new horizons.

A time to reflect not back on the past –

but to look forward to new beginnings.

We loved our home – our neighborhood –

It is not easy to let go – but – we are growing older

we are still able to enjoy life

and we make this move not with worries of what is to be-

But what wonders we shall encounter.

The date JUNE 5th.

The adventure begins today – one day later as the first buyer

shall come into our home.

I look around – there is a lot of “US” here.

Passing it on and taking the memories with us.

June 5th. 2020 – who knows what the next June 5th. brings.

The adventure continues – making memories – writing blogs.

Welcome to Papa’s World

Papas World – we have discussed this for 6 years!

Two months ago – we called a friend –

She sells houses – and we wanted to hear what she had to say!

First – how is the market – ” STRONG SHE SAID”!

Only 8 homes listed in your price range

and 28 people looking!

Then – she looked around – at all the upgrades!

And gave us a quote – estimate –

So – we decided to start cleaning out – “STUFF”!

Even if we were to stay – we had to get rid of “STUFF”!

Three weeks ago – we decided now or never!

WE LOVE OUR HOUSE – OUR LOCATION!

Her parents had said the same thing all those years ago.

But – then it was too late – her father passed in 2001

and their dream never became real.

We called the lady – we will be ready in three weeks.

How is the market?

Still strong and the estimate went up!

We notified our friends and they were happy.

Come – live by us!

I called my sons and told them.

Sherry told the girls and grand kids!

We set the wheels in motion.

Trip after trip – Salvation army – Project Hope

Secure a storage locker

Start selling items on THE BRAMBLETON MARKET PLACE!

Pictures of the outside already taken

Now tonight – at 6PM.

They come to take pictures of the inside

The sign has been ordered

We told a few neighbors

everything is downsized as far as we can go now.

We want to sell as much as we can

And then – stay with the kids

until we find a furnished place to rent

We will not buy right away

We plan the Winter to be somewhere in Florida

But – we have options

We are going to take our time

WE WILL MISS OUR HOME OF ALMOST 14 YEARS!

IT IS TIME

I WANNA GET LOST IN YOUR ROCK AND ROLL

AND DRIFT AWAY
