Papa’s World – We attended a retirement party for our friend.

A cake and a drawing – almost 46 years working for the same company – the same that Sherry and I worked for!

Between the THREE of us – we had a total of 125 years and when you add in his brother – Paul – 158 years!

A bunch of balloons – and a room full of co-workers – on a very rainy night – a farewell to all those years – memories and priceless.

Now – when we play – he can join me at the senior tees! LOL It will be fun and the start of many years to come.

At our friend’s house on New Year’s Eve on Magnolia Greens golf course – Leland, N.C.

Six friends from WNY and WPA gathered as we have in the past – last year it was at our house – we have done this for years and years.

Dottie – Jim – Buck – Cindy – Sherry, and Papa.

We gathered for dinner – games – cards until the ball dropped on TV.

Our hosts – Cindy and Buck, who were our neighbors for years back in WNY.

The new year begins with new resolutions – now we just have to stick with them! LOL

Papa’s World – NEW YEARS EVE PARTY WITH FRIENDS – next blog – let the party begin!

Papa’s World – Cameron Woods – neighbors have a Halloween Party – can you think Stranger Things and Good Witch!

Sherry and I were invited to Harvey and Joanne’s house for a Halloween party – bring a dish to pass – beer and wine were provided!

Of course, we also brought jello shots as did others – To be honest – that is all I had besides some water – I LOST COUNT!

There were some perfect costumes – a couple I did not know who they were until they told us! ( the people)

It was a blast – music – dancing – food – beer – wine and shots!

We left after four hours and walked home – good thing we walked!

It went on for another two hours!

We missed a block party while we were back in NVA!

On Halloween night – I set up the SOLO STOVE in the driveway –

A few neighbors brought chairs and a table and we again had some SHOTS –

no kids trick or treated but we had three hours of just sitting and talking – Impromptu –

Great neighborhood –

Sherry and I went as her – The GOOD WITCH and me as the pizza guy on STRANGER THINGS!

Papa’s World – Singing the new year in! Karaoke – friends – NEW YEARS EVE – 2022.

Party waiting to happen!

We had seen the sunset on the beach – had a fire in the Solo Stove – a putting and chipping contest.

Snacks – food – some drinks and now the TV was tuned into Karaoke with music and the words.

LET THE PARTY BEGIN!

Starting off as always – Cindy and Jim.
And along came Steve – our neighbor.

The night was young – over three hours to midnight – a lot of Karaoke ahead!

Cindy – Sherry, and Jim are about to sing!
To break the ice a group sing along!

That broke the ice and then the songs came – one by one!

Diane – our next-door neighbor – found her song!
Sherry – taking a drink and Diane singing.
Cindy – Dottie and Sherry singing.

It was a fun time – new friends and neighbors with our oldest friends.

The sunroom – party hats – let the celebration begin.

After toasting the sunset on Sunset Beach – putting competition on the patio – and fire in the firepit

We moved inside – snacks – refreshment – and some Karaoke!

Cindy – Sherry, and Jim set everything up.

We went from the machine to the TV where we discovered we had Karaoke on the menu.

And could actually have playlists with the words.

Sherry setting it all up – as the group waits.
A little break after Sherry set up the TV before the singing begins.

It took a while to get everything set up – but then all we had to do was type in requests –

and the songs appeared with the words and music.

We used the microphones from the Karaoke machine.

The beginning of the singing for the next three hours!

The next blog will be the actual singing from everyone.

Papa’s World – New Year’s Eve – Solo Stove fire – Golf chipping game!

We left the beach at sunset and moved to our new home – started the fire and played a chipping game.

Our plan was to enjoy the mild weather before moving inside – snacking and Karaoke!

Debby and Mike had gotten this for me for Christmas.

We spent time outside – sitting around the fire and chipping golf balls at this target.

People also sat in the lanai – while others sat around the fire. And also a putting contest that Cindy had brought – Jim and Buck were the champs!
We all moved inside to eat and set up the Karaoke – and have a few drinks!

It was a fun evening – but still hours away from midnight!

Next – is the actual blog on the singing and laughing and good times of our very first New Years’ Eve

in our new home.

Papa’s World – the party for Ella at their home – in Lake Holiday – Va. Graduation!

Ella Myers – graduate 2021 – fall Randolph College – Phys Ed. and playing Soccer.

The party was held at the family house in Lake Holiday – Cross Junction Va.

Their father – through the years – developed a phys ed. course for the girls – balance line – zip line –

trampoline – climbing wall – tree house – soccer nets – and in winter a snow board run.

Living out in the country – they were raised to hike – kayak – conoeing – swimming – walking and running.

Over the years he taught them the soccer skills they have – now both older girls play soccer in college.

The younger sister – prefers dance – acting and writing – directing and producing videos.

Her dream is to one day go to NYC!

The three sisters – Ella – 17 years old Maddy – 20 years old Sarah – 14 years old – growing up in nature – camping.

Ella – when she was young we all called her TINY – today – she stands almost 5′ 9″ tall!

Ellas favorite creature on earth is the turtle – here her graduation cake is that of a turtle –
A watermelon – carved by her two aunts into a turtle!
Sherry’s daughters – her sisters kids and their kids – cousins – generations.

Papas World – golfing- staying in touch – 38 yrs.

We played softball together in the mid ’70’s

and continued until I turned 40.

Then I played volleyball –

sometimes we played together

when I turned 48 –

I was getting too old – I turned to golf

and today – we still get together

drink a few beers and swing away

me more often than him! LOL

My buddy Jim

I am 9 years older – but we first met on the softball field

I went to his wedding

and we have been friends ever since.

We worked together before we moved

and along the way he introduced me to his friend Buck!

We ended up living right across the street from Buck and Cindy.

And we all would meet up-

and to this day some 35 plus years later – we still do!

Every 4 to 6 months we try to do this –

going from one house to the other

Buck and Cindy live just South of Wilmington N.C. now.

Jim and Dottie now live in Va. Beach area.

And of course we live SW of DC.

Our journey from back home – NWPA and SWNY has evolved

But we still stay in touch!

These three together laugh and laugh –

and they sneak the fireball!

Esp. when we golf – it almost always is guys vs. the gals.

And let me tell you – NO STROKES !

Jim wants to give strokes -and they will whip us!

We have played for years and years even up

and most often it comes down to one stroke difference!

We all were Bills fans – we kind of adopted the Redskins

only because when we moved -no one carried the Bills.

We tried for three years – there were two Sports bars

but it took a long time to get to them in DC traffic.

So – we still followed the Bills and watched the skins.

But Cindy and Buck – Dottie and Jim have remained die hard Bills Fans!

We got together this season in Wilmington

and all went to a Sports bar called the Lazy Pirate –

where we watched the Bills win!

On our trip to Northern California – at a Sports bar –

in old town Sacramento!

We have been trying to get Jim and Dottie to come along

with us on one of our trips.

Maybe this year they will!
