At our friend’s house on New Year’s Eve on Magnolia Greens golf course – Leland, N.C.

Six friends from WNY and WPA gathered as we have in the past – last year it was at our house – we have done this for years and years.

Dottie – Jim – Buck – Cindy – Sherry, and Papa.

We gathered for dinner – games – cards until the ball dropped on TV.

Our hosts – Cindy and Buck, who were our neighbors for years back in WNY.

The new year begins with new resolutions – now we just have to stick with them! LOL

Papa’s World – WNY favorite foods – Beef on Wicks – Potato salad and Coleslaw!

Friends for years and years – Dottie – Jim – Buck – Cindy – Sherry – Papa – food from back home in WNY –

Beef On Wicks – Potato salad – Coleslaw for our New Years’ eve dinner at Magnolia Greens just outside Leland, N.C.

This is a tradition in WNY – thinly sliced beef in juice ( drippings) on Kimelwick rolls!

Horseraddish or hot mustard – and the two salads to go long with it.

You can see the beef-on-wicks on the plate next to Dottie.

Back home in WNY – in Olean, N.Y, is the famous restaurant “BEEF and BARREL” where they have carving stations of huge sides of beef and you tell them how you like it doe and they carve it for you!

We all grew up with this.

These are mouth-watering – and the rolls are salted on top – with seeds – soft rolls and yummy!

A tradition for all of us – our roots in WNY.

Thanks for reading – and yes you can buy all of this at WEGMANS if you have a store close to you – they have gradually worked their way South and we had five of six stores in the NVA area and in Va. Beach area.

Party waiting to happen!

We had seen the sunset on the beach – had a fire in the Solo Stove – a putting and chipping contest.

Snacks – food – some drinks and now the TV was tuned into Karaoke with music and the words.

LET THE PARTY BEGIN!

Starting off as always – Cindy and Jim.
And along came Steve – our neighbor.

The night was young – over three hours to midnight – a lot of Karaoke ahead!

Cindy – Sherry, and Jim are about to sing!
To break the ice a group sing along!

That broke the ice and then the songs came – one by one!

Diane – our next-door neighbor – found her song!
Sherry – taking a drink and Diane singing.
Cindy – Dottie and Sherry singing.

It was a fun time – new friends and neighbors with our oldest friends.

The sunroom – party hats – let the celebration begin.

After toasting the sunset on Sunset Beach – putting competition on the patio – and fire in the firepit

We moved inside – snacks – refreshment – and some Karaoke!

Cindy – Sherry, and Jim set everything up.

We went from the machine to the TV where we discovered we had Karaoke on the menu.

And could actually have playlists with the words.

Sherry setting it all up – as the group waits.
A little break after Sherry set up the TV before the singing begins.

It took a while to get everything set up – but then all we had to do was type in requests –

and the songs appeared with the words and music.

We used the microphones from the Karaoke machine.

The beginning of the singing for the next three hours!

The next blog will be the actual singing from everyone.

Papa’s World – New Year’s Eve – Solo Stove fire – Golf chipping game!

The group on Sunset Beach – toasting the sunset – then moving on to our back yard and the Solo Stove!

We left the beach at sunset and moved to our new home – started the fire and played a chipping game.

Our plan was to enjoy the mild weather before moving inside – snacking and Karaoke!

Debby and Mike had gotten this for me for Christmas.

We spent time outside – sitting around the fire and chipping golf balls at this target.

People also sat in the lanai – while others sat around the fire. And also a putting contest that Cindy had brought – Jim and Buck were the champs!
We all moved inside to eat and set up the Karaoke – and have a few drinks!

It was a fun evening – but still hours away from midnight!

Next – is the actual blog on the singing and laughing and good times of our very first New Years’ Eve

in our new home.

Papa’s World – New Year’s Eve – continued on Sunset Beach, N.C.

Papa – Buck – Jim – all together – over 100 years of friendship.

We gathered on Sunset beach – to one see the sunset and two to drink a toast to a new year!

These are my oldest friends – we have been together for a very long time –

Jim and I played softball together around 1978.

Sherry and I were neighbors with Buck and Cindy in 1988! But knew them from before.

Kathy – our next-door neighbor who gathers up our packages while we are gone –

Diane and Steve – who live three houses from us are from back in WNY where we lived!

We decided to do something as a group as our other friends came to stay for a long weekend.

The reason for the name “SUNSET BEACH”!

When we got there – people had been in the water – too cold for me – but it still was around 65 degrees out!

Diane and Steve – who live three doors up from us – were the very first people we met in building.

We found we had in common where we had lived prior to 1999!

They were from WNY as we were and now had their winter home in Cameron Woods –

and a summer cottage on Rushford lake – just a few miles from where we lived!

So we four have become friends in our new community –

walking in the mornings and watching the Buffalo Bills games together as they are big fans.

Kathy is our next-door neighbor – single and whenever we are away – and packages arrive – will keep them for us until we return.
Good question! LOL
About to celebrate the sunset and a new year!

It was a fun time – friends and neighbors – new friends and old friends.

A time to get together – laugh and count our blessings.

A time to throw out the old and bring in the new.

FRIENDS for all these years !

Dottie – Jim – Sherry – Cindy – Papa and Buck – we decided to take our chairs – champaign – glasses

aNd celebrate watching the sunset before going back to the house for a Solo Fire outside –

Food and snacks – some more friends – and Karaoke!

Our next-door neighbor Kathy.
Our other close neighbors – Diane and Steve soon joined us.

We choose Sunset Beach just beci=ause as the name suggests – great SUNSETS!

And we were not disappointed!

The beginning of the last Sunset of 2021!

A lot of people were on the beach and some even had been swimming!

Saying hello to 2022!
