Over the years, “CHRISTMAS” celebrations with family!

When we lived in Brambleton-

It was a drive to the Metro some miles away –

And take the family into D.C –

To the White House lawn and the nation’s Christmas tree!

Here is Sherry on one of those trips!

We have spent many holidays in DC.

Always forming memories –

We keep them in our minds and souls!

We have spent many Christmases in Lake Holiday with the older grandkids and their parents!

Forming memories for years to come.

When family visits –

And going to a Christmas show at Barefoot Landing.

You can see the mild winter conditions of winter in December!

And of course, there is MARLEY –

The family granddog!

Such a gentle dog!

And then –

It is “CHRISTMAS IN A BARN” with the older grandkids and their parents!

The twins –

Reading for a Christmas service.

At Community Lutheran Church in Sterling, VA.

Around the Holidays –

And game days for football-

Celebrating with friends.

Yuletide feelings with our neighbor Diane.

Many fond memories of Christmas past –

And looking toward the future!

From family to you-

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Today we share thoughts –

laughs – kindness – gifts –

and cheer with family and friends!

The past memories come flooding back –

watching grandkids sitting on the stairs –

eyes wide and giggling.

Waiting for parents to get up out of bed –

And eyeing the stockings-

hanging from the stairwell.

Oh – how I cherish those memories of times gone past.

The innocence of youth.

The tree is all lit up –

presents are stacked neatly underneath it!

They giggle –

excitement in the air –

then the bedroom door opens-

and silence as they wait for their parents-

CHRISTMAS DAY HAS ARRIVED –

let the enjoyment begin!

Outside it is a “WHITE CHRISTMAS DAY”!

The wind is blowing –

and the trees shake their branches.

Inside the fireplace is on –

the stockings are on the floor-

between their legs.

The voices ring with excitement –

AFTER ALL – IT IS CHRISTMAS DAY!

We decorated the outside of the house – not a lot but enough to enjoy the Holiday spirit!

We have all the lights set to come on at dusk and go off six hours later!

This is where I like to sit and drink my coffee – it is in the shade all day!

The flowers are still blooming – comfortable and cozy!

Today is Christmas day – celebrated worldwide – and once again we are with family.

The joy of family-giving – comforts of home – warmth and yuletide greetings!

Today I wish all of you JOY – thank you for being a part of my life in the BLOG WORLD!

Today I give thanks to family – both near and far – thoughts – words and memories –

always cherishing – always thinking and always praying for memories to be made.

Today we partake in a meal – today we laugh – today we smile and today we make yet another memory!

From the both of us – to all of you – HAVE A JOYOUS MERRY CHRISTMAS – BLESSED ARE WE TO HAVE YOU!

Papa and Sherry wish you a Merry Christmas

Our very first Christmas in our new home! Sharing some pictures! Keeping some memories.

Our front entrance with wreathes both front and back – candles in the front windows.

A child was born – swaddled in clothes – the baby who changed the world – bringing joy to each and every one. Bringing light into a dark world. As Christians – we believe.

Our wall is dedicated to our Dream – beach living!

In the joy of this season – the first for us here – we had a dream – a dream to live near a beach – we have two – Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach – keep positive thoughts – rejoice in your dreams!

In this season of joy to us and the world – giving is more important for us. We found a family of five.

Two little girls and one little boy and parents.

On Facebook – the mother asked if anyone had decorations they did not want – for they had none.

We had so many in storage – and had gone away from the green trees of lights and bulbs.

So – Sherry contacted her and we made arrangements to drop them off some 17 miles away.

When the mother thanked us through PM later – she said now they could decorate for the kids.

Asking is hard to do – giving is easy – tis the holiday season – tis the joy of giving.

Our first lighted front of the house.

We decorated early this year – to be able to enjoy it being our first time here.

In this first holiday year – Christmas caroling by Sherry and neighbors.

A golf cart ride around the neighborhood to see the houses all lighted up!

A neighborhood cocktail party and two we missed for other commitments.

Our first holidays here and already the joys of friends we have made and friends we have still to make.

Today as you read this – our thoughts are with you.

All those years ago – a babe was born – we celebrate that birth in a Christian way.

We celebrate family – friends and those in need.

We celebrate a way for peace in the world and at home.
