Well, we have been retired for years.

We both have celebrated our 77th birthdays!

LIFE AS A SENIOR takes on a whole new meaning.

Little trips are now adventures for us.

We still golf and still walk.

Appointments are common occurrences, as are CALENDERS –

Both of us keep one to mark down dates of where, what, and when we have something coming up.

We look around and see how we live.

Family – church (nearby) –

Community – (A lot of caring friends)-

Warmer climate – (Hardly any snow or ice)-

Downsized our house – (all on one level)-

Close to shopping, beach, and entertainment!

Life in our SENIOR YEARS –

Means chill and take care of one another.

And to age as healthily as we can.

For us, it is the simplest things in life-

Having the ability to walk in the sand and surf at the beach.

Warm climate – friends and family to share this with!

Watching the grandkids grow into adults!

Having them come for visits –

MORMOR – PAPA – GRANDMA and GRANDPA –

These are words of endearment to our ears.

Relaxing to the sound of the surf-

Birds and laughter –

Blue skies and soft white clouds!

Papa’s World – In life, we live it one day at a time!

Good morning or whatever part of the day you read this.

As a senior well into our senior years-

We live each day to the plus.

Doesn’t matter what it is!

Simple trips to the store or doctor’s office.

Stopping at a big box store to find a little thing we might need.

Preparing for family or friends to visit.

Volunteering which we do.

All of a sudden –

Something happens to change that routine.

A unexpected fall from her bike!

As she was coming to a stop to get off –

Sherry lost her balance –

Over she went onto her left side!

She fractured her pelvis in two spots on that left side.

No – She will not give up!

She spent two days in the hospital –

Then seven days in rehab.

DETERMINED!!!!!

She has got this!

She went home and had excellent grades on her progress.

Now it is up to her with my help to progress!

Our daughter Debby came down!

Moral support and to help me.

Tammy could not come with three young children in school and her business to run.

But constant phone calls and facetimes were there daily!

Marcus and Tammy and Marley and the three kiddo’s!

The kids sent a card and flowers made out of pipe cleaners!

“WE LOVE YOU MORMOR”!

Which in Swedish Is MOTHERSMOTHER!

Our time together has always been these past 44 years plus-

TOGETHER as ONE!

This blog site represents that!

Its the simple things in life –

Now in our Senior years –

That trip to the doctor for follow up!

That walker and the road to Ferry Landing in OIB!

The ramp up to the deck at the Community Center on OIB –

To sit and just watch the beach, the ocean, and busy people!

This is our life in our Senior Years!

Life starts each day with the Simple Things!

She is healed and now we continue in living life one day at a time.

Here we are – “FRIENDS” but all retired and all “SENIORS”!

In our world of being a “SENIOR”-

Sherry and I have many, many of what we consider “FRIENDS”!

Above – front to back –

Cindy and Buck!

Our neighbors in the late 80’s until they moved to N.C. in the mid 90’s.

But – we stayed in contact and visited back and forth –

Plus, we have traveled the world with them on vacations!

Today, we all live “THE LIFE IN SENIOR WORLD”!

Next is Ingrid and Les.

While we have not known Ingrid as long as Les-

He played softball with me back in Eldred in the mid – 70’s!

We have stayed in touch all these years and periodically see one another.

They are now full-time RV’ERS!

Every other year, they swing by to see us!

FRIENDS – BUT LIFE IN OUR SENIOR WORLD!

Next on the left side, Pam and Bob!

They have been married for 21 years.

Bob is my oldest friend.

We grew up together in Eldred, Pa.

Grade school and High School –

Sports and staying at each other’s homes.

Today they are resting in a rental near us after 6 1/2 years traveling the country in an RV!

They are trying to find out if they should sell their condo in N.H. –

And like this area, but also if 6 1/2 years of RVING is enough!

Time will tell –

But for now – FRIENDS IN SENIOR WORLD!

Debby – Jim and Dottie – Cindy – Sherry and Buck and Papa.

Close friends and now all retired seniors!

To have these friendships –

Jim and Dottie, I grew up in Eldred, Pa.

To have these friends is a blessing to us.

Debby is a friend of Jim and Dottie, and we have gotten to know her.

All of us are retired and are FRIENDS IN THE SENIOR WORLD!

Sherry and I both lived this era of our lives.

We did not know one another and have different memories of that time.

In 1974, I bought a motorcycle and rode for six years.

She, in turn, had a pull behind the camper and did the camping bit!

After six years, I sold the motorcycle and never rode again.

I rode to Wheeling, West Virginia, several times.

Along with trips to Buffalo and Erie.

That was a part of life I shall always remember.

I no longer have the desire to own a motorcycle, a boat, or a camper.

The lesson I learned was to always watch out for the other driver!

Sad but true!

I have a rough time REMEBERING names.

I try to associate them with things of my past.

Sometimes it works, and other times it doesn’t.

I think it might just be a “SENIOR” thing?

Oh well- at least I try!!!!

Andrea and my oldest son – Troy!

On the visit they made a few years ago.

They still live back in NWPA!

Troy can and does build houses from the ground up!

He must have gotten that from my father and not me! LOL

June 25th. 1982 – our wedding day.

Now – 44 years have passed –

We truly are growing old together.

The years have passed, and today we live in N.C. at Cameron Woods Community, Ocean Isle Beach.

We decided to move South for a warmer climate –

Especially during the winter months.

The move was necessitated by the 2020 Pandemic-

The fall of the 401K’s and the increase in the housing market.

It worked out for us to sell our longtime retirement home –

Leave an expensive living area –

And settle near three beaches.

The selling of the home in NVA –

Allowed us to build in N.C. at a fraction of the price it would be in NVA!

We built this home for the family to visit –

Friends to gather –

And the climate that-

We would spend our senior years.

Our life here has changed us –

We now golf more –

Walk the beach –

And are involved in the Protection for Sea Turtles, now in our fourth season.

Here we are with the “TURTLE” group of volunteers –

We are the oldest here in this picture- 77 years old!

There are around 100 volunteers.

This day,

We volunteered to pick up trash in an assigned area of Ocean Isle Beach!

We have reseyt our lives down here.

Our granddaughter, Taylor, will be an intern in August for two weeks.

She reached out after remembering a presentation two years ago.

Those two weeks will be spent on all phases of the program, and we must accompany her at all times!

Taylor had her first date for homecoming as a Freshman.

She is as tall as Sherry –

And Tammy is about 5’6″.

She is an A+ student –

And has arranged most of this on her own.

Our life has been for the past twenty-plus years –

To age healthily into our senior years.
