Sarah is about to shake hands and receive her diploma.

She is a bright personality-

Full of laughs and humor.

She lights up a room-

Her smile says it all!

She has continued into college life.

Time will tell where she will head after college.

But for now, she will attend Christopher Newport University.

She is amazing – decorating her cap by herself-

Spending hours placing each small bead and star.

She has immense artistic talents!

Papa’s World – Part one – The gardens of James Wood estate – Winchester, Va.

The James Wood estate – founder of Winchester, Va.

The mid-1700s found James Wood laying out the boundaries of Winchester, Va.

Sub-divided into lots with streets – and this estate for himself.

Three springs lay on this property and the land had many natural rock formations and loose rocks.

The rocks were used for boundary lines like fences and the others for foundation work.

The beauty of the estate is how they used the natural landscape for the design of the gardens.

She is now 18 years old – but when little – always expressed “FASHION”!

She was always dressing up – wanted makeup –

Modeled her outfits –

and today she remains the same!

That smile – her eyes – her laugh-

and sense of humor –

her ambition to get ahead –

and her work habits!

She loves life –

she is a homebody –

She is so much like her mother!

The little girl who made me smile-

Sarah is a Junior in H.S. and on this visit to Lynchburg, Va. during a shopping trip –

finally, after months of searching found a dress for HOMECOMING!

Here are the three girls from years ago – Ella – Maddy and Sarah!

Sarah embodies the above – she is a true spirit – free and loving.

Debby – Sarah ( almost 5’10” ) and Mike – proud parents.

She is a junior in H.S. – the youngest of the children – always helpful – and quite funny!

Sweet SIXTEEN and her first prom – Sarah with her mother Debby and father Mike – seems only yesterday she was running around barefoot!

She is their youngest daughter – the older ones – Maddy just graduated college and the other is now a junior in college.

Her date and boyfriend for the prom – a cute couple and both very level-headed.

They are finding that the world can be a better place – a place full of beauty.

Daughter and mother and yes with heels on – Sarah is over six feet tall! She looks like her mother.

All three have CHARACTER

It seems like only yesterday they were running around – laughing – excited – little – little girls.

Sitting on the top of the stairs – waiting for their parents to get up on Christmas mornings.

The youth soccer games – then the travel teams – and for Sarah – dance – acting – animated.

Today – they are 21 – 18 and 15 – all about to leap forward another year older.

Maddy is a senior to be in college and Ella is a Sophomore to be in college.

Sarah is a Sophomore to be in H.S.

Maddy at 5’6″ is now the shortest – Ella is 5’10 and Sarah is almost as tall.

They take after their grandma’s Swedish heritage – Sherry is 5’9″.

Both Maddy and Ella play soccer and start on their college teams – Maddy will be one of the captains.

Sarah is a free spirit – funny – outgoing – and will run track.

The Myers girls – our oldest granddaughters.

Our little granddaughters are gone –

replaced now by beautiful young ladies.

Maddy has a major in Environmental Science

Ella is going to be an elementary PHYS ED TEACHER.

Sarah – who knows – she is a free spirit – a runner and dancer and acting.

She also is young and has many years left to decide.

Debby and Mike – Mother and Father – are proud parents.

Our family from Lake Holiday, Cross Junction – Winchester, Va.

Little girls have almost all grown up.

Papa’s World – Continued – the GARDENS OF JAMES WOOD – Winchester, Va.

The estate was formed in the mid – the too-late 1700s.

The walls I believe came from rocks on the property as there still are large natural rock outcroppings!

Natural nature has been blended in with the springs!
There even is a bamboo section of forest with paths through them.
Ella is inside a small hut made from bamboo.
There are many gardens and themes inside the estate.
Sculptures are all over and these are from a famous artist who makes them out of paper!
It is very quiet and peaceful in the gardens.

Papa’s World – our granddaughter – Ella Myers – senior night soccer – honored!

We made the trip back to NVA to see Ella play soccer for her senior recognition night and picked up the three little ones so they could cheer her on! Taylor – Cassidy and Bode.

Ella will continue on in college playing soccer for Randolph College in Lynchburg Va.

She lost two years with injuries to her feet breaking a bone in each one.

But – she was determined and it paid off.

Her team is now 8 – 0 – 2 and headed to states.

They have five players continuing onto the college level!

The only boy in the grandchildren with Ella’s Sister Maddy – they will compete against each other in college soccer!

They ended up in a double overtime tie for the game – 0 to 0!

They moved onto the districts –

But we were able to come home and watch four games.

She is quiet – except when she smiles – laughs –

caring – always thoughtful – kind –

little ones love her –

they can tell right away.

Ella – our second oldest grand daughter

Ella number 10 on the move soccer her passion

Along with her older sister – she loves soccer.

Maddy plays for University of Lynchburg – in Va. she is a sopomore.

Ella is a senior in James Wood H.S.

But also played for Blue Ridge United Soccer in Winchester Va.

For the last four years – she has experienced broken bones in her feet.

Slowing her down – but determined to come back and play once again.

Ella is tall – almost 5′ 9″

She has made up for lost time –

almost half her years of playing went away with the broken bones.

She never quit – attending games on crutches.

She still has her H.S. senior year to play – if they can – in the Spring!

Now the good news !

She has TWO OFFERS to attend Universities and a spot on each team!

She is excited – but has choices to make.

F.A.I.L. this is Ella!

She will make some coach a diamond in the rough.

Determined – athletic – and some day will play against her older sister!

Papa’s World – It came to a end – but what a ride !

Let the weekend begin – and a new beginning

Tuesday – we did not have to travel far – just 14 miles up the road.

The regional semi – final –

for James Wood girls soccer –

was on the home field of Loudoun County High School.

And – they had won the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP last year – 2018 !

This year their record was better – they were undefeated !

It was exciting for us – in our back yard so to speak –

and Ella was brought up from the J.V. team .

A lot of fans – family – traveled the 60 miles to cheer them on.

It was a hard fought game – behind 1 to 0 –

and Loudoun County scored just before half time.

Maddy number 9 – last game as a senior

That score stayed the same

Until the 9:00 minute mark

When the second goal was scored

off a deflection from our own player into the goal.

The final would be Loudoun County 2 — James Wood 0.

Most likely – Loudoun County may repeat as State Champions !

The baton has been passed – Maddy hands it off to Ella –

who has two years left –

and she led the J.V. ‘s –

scoring goals – and assists

it is going to be exciting watching her the next two years !

as Maddy moves on to college and soccer at University Of Lynchburg Va.

Ella – had tryouts for the Winchester United Travel Team Yesterday !

Now – it is graduation in less than two weeks –

and preparing for college.

Another soccer season travel begins this Fall with Ella –

and life goes on.

The end of the game

This was a close nit group –

and one final group hug at the end –

some come back –

SEVEN leave for a new life.

All to college –

two will play on –

records were set for the High School .

CLASS – in Victory or Defeat

Before each game –

and after each game –

they come and go the same way.

Led by their Captains –

a walk onto the field

and a walk off the field.

A Class act – I hope it is carried on through the years !

For both girls – Maddy to college – Ella – to travel team

The END and the BEGINNING for both girls –

IT CAME TO A END – BUT WHAT A RIDE –

and it CONTINUES

The journey for the both of them –

Going to be a fun time in our lives.
