When I look back years to when this picture was taken-

The twins – Taylor and Cassidy-

It brings many memories of when they were little.

Hugging, playing, and laughing.

Today, things have changed.

They both are their own identities.

Cassidy – Gymnastics – Cheerleading –

Taylor – acting on stage – singing and dancing –

And becoming an accomplished horse rider.

Both different –

Yet the same –

When not in my view –

Hard to distinguish who is speaking.

Both sing in the choir-

Both play the Violin-

Both are growing into beautiful young ladies.

BOTH – GIVING ME POSITIVE VIBES and GOOD FEELINGS!

A little bit of humor –

Bringing a good feeling today!

The Ocean is angry –

The white caps are endless –

But this is also our happy place!

We wanted to be near the beach –

The sand and surf.

To be able to walk –

GIVING ME POSITIVE VIBES AND GOOD FEELINGS!

Storms come and go –

Rainbows, sunshine-

and starry nights, and the moon.

All bring me –

POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND GOOD FEELINGS!

When the oldest granddaughter chooses to spend long weekends with her grandparents.

Papa’s World – LOOK ‘EM IN THE EYE !

When we are out walking – we meet lots of people –

on the trails – roads and sidewalks.

I always make eye contact – or try to.

A lot of people will just look down or off to the side –

That is until I am the first to greet them !

GOOD MORNING !!!!

I will say GOOD MORNING

as we almost always walk then-

90 % will then look at you and reply – smile –

as if they were just waiting for you to greet them – almost shy !

A SMILE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS !

It is almost like they do not know how to greet you !

And if you wait – they just walk on by !

That is why I decided to always be the first !

It is then that some people will not respond –

and I wonder what kind of person that is –

or what kind of life they lead –

I hope that they remember my smile and greeting –

hoping that just maybe it made their day

a little more enjoyable !

In Cameron Woods Community –

We have made new friends!

Marcea and Bill –

Ken and Marylou-

Diane and Steve ( who are from where we lived in WNY)

Fun times and looking forward to more of the same!

Where we chose to live –

Near the beaches –

On the border of N.C. and S.C.

In the winter – we can survive with no snow or ice- most of the time.

And – we can walk the beach anytime we choose.

We are close to old friends – three couples!

Our enclosed Lanai is a haven for our plants and flowers!

We could not do thus BACK in NVA!

This plant belonged to Sherry’s mother – Barb – and reminds us of her every day – GIGI!

Our lemon tree – who would have thought!!!!

Small things make us happy!

Now – we get to spend time with two couples who have been our close friends for over forty years!

Golfing – singing – lifting a few drinks and laughing!

So many times we have been together that it ends up like this!

Now – we all live in the state of N.C.

and we all are from back in WNY and close to NWPA!

Friends are forever and more!

My oldest buddy from grade school – Bob and his wife Pam

We now see them every year – past six years –

when they stop with their RV in their sixth year of retirement.

Friends are special parts of our life together.

Family from back in NVA-

While we left them to move South –

They come down and we go back to NVA!

Family from back where we grew up in NWPA!

Now that her mother has passed away – we do not get there as often as we would like!

But – they have been down a couple times and we hope for them to be here this summer.

Still lives next door to where they were raised.

Debby on the right lives one mile from us in Cameron Woods Community.

Family – hoping that Bonnie can sometime in the future make it down.

When we do go back to NWPA-

We will see her and her family and my sons and their wife-partner!

Sunset Beach and in the upper far right corner – Ocean Isle Beach.

We are here because of choice.

We are happy in retirement –

With family – friends and our life here.

Having good thoughts and a positive outlook in this climate –

Keeps one on an even keel!

Knowing the history of the DC area –

keeping in mind of those who came before us-

In my old age – this just might be true!!! LOL

Laugh at at what this means – being a senior I can identify!

This is the KINDRED SPIRIT mailbox!

It exists on the far western end of Sunset Beach –

About a mile and one-half walk from the pier-

Put here by a hippie couple four or five decades ago!

Today it is maintained by volunteers.

Inside is a journal you can write in.

As the journals fill –

another is placed as a replacement.

Worth the stroll down the beach –

a place of solitude-

a place to write your memories or thoughts!

Papa’s World – Happy thoughts and Happy days!

Golfing to us is a day to just enjoy the outdoors – good friends – and that one good shot that brings us back again and again.

Here we have so many courses near us and we buy the first tee card that gives us reduced rates

on over 50 courses.

Do we play every week – no – about every two weeks –

Usually with our close friends who live 38 miles away.

It is easy as the courses they like to play are in our area –

but they live on Magnolia Greens and we also play there.

We have been friends ever since we moved to Pleasant Acres Drive in Portville, N.Y.

back in the late 1980s.

We started playing golf there in WNY before Sherry or Cindy ever picked up a golf club.

So many laughs back then and it continues to this day!

They even wore mittens because their hands were cold!

They moved in the mid-90s to N.C. and in 1999 we moved to NVA-

but we stayed in touch and would visit one another.

We have another couple who also are close friends and we would visit each other three times a year they lived in Va. Beach, Va.

The three of them are just so funny when together.

Sherry – Cindy and Dottie –

I have known Dottie and Jimmy since the mid to late 70s –

Jim and I played softball together in the town we both grew up in and Dottie lived there also.

Papa – Buck and Jimmy – so many memories of good times together!

When we are all together it is HAPPY THOUGHTS and HAPPY DAYS!

Now – we are all retired – still visiting each other – still playing golf –

LOL – it would not matter for me – it is not the equipment – but it is “ME”!

So many times we have golfed – and mostly with friends – both near and far!

Elaine and Steve from back in WNY –

Paul and Janet from back in WPA – (Janet Is the designated driver) –

Bob and Pam – when they stopped their RV for a week, we hit the links!

Jim and Dottie – and Buck and Cindy –

we try to get together with each other along with Craig and Debbie.

Just being together with friends – and sometimes just the two of us!

We now live close to each other – 35 35-minute drive and most times they come in our direction –

because of all the courses near us. BUCK and CINDY – our close friends!

And for years – the machine and Mike’s come out and they sing!

FRIENDS – BESTIES – living life to the plus – one song at a time!

Laughing – friendships – priceless!

Six grandchildren – they call Sherry “GRANDMA – MORMOR” and she loves it!

We try every so few months to travel back to NVA to see them –

and they also travel here to N.C. to see us.

Sarah – Ella and Debby with Sherry – Maddy had to work and could not visit.

Maddy has graduated with an environmental science degree and is now working –

as a Scientist – Geologist for a major national Environmental firm.

Today they are getting older – but our memories as growing grandchildren – PRICELESS!

Papa’s World – Feeling good – smiling – laughing!

I saw this and laughed – both Sherry and myself – are going to the Senior Center –

Tuesday and Thursday – doing what is called GERIFIT!

It costs nothing – and anywhere from 40 to 50 Seniors are there –

It is 45 minutes of continuous exercise structured for Seniors.

You use a chair – weights – and a stretch band tied to the back of the chair.

All the muscle groups are used and no pressure – you do what you can.

At 75 years old – along with walking – this will hopefully keep us limber and fit.

This picture keeps me happy whenever I walk by it –

it so reminds me of something –

In my mind it is a “HALLMARK CARD” –

Why is it special and makes me smile?

Because it was drawn by Cassidy when she was maybe six or seven!

Its simple – but shows me “HER” as a little girl – and I smile when I see it!

Church is a big thing in our lives-

ever since we were married.

In the years we have been married –

we have been members of three different churches-

One in WNY – one in NVA and the latest and we think the last – in OIB. N.C.

All have special memories in our hearts.

In our time in N.C. and S.C. –

which is only 8 miles from us –

with North Myrtle Beach another 8 miles-

We have attended the Saint Patrick’s Day parade four times!

The first time was in the Pandemic and not official –

It brings happy thoughts to us and memories of family and friends who have gone with us!

A happy thought full of smiles for us!

Hanging on the wall in the front bedroom –

Is a drawing of our home in Brambleton, Va.

This is special for us and framed because our granddaughter –

“ELLA” drew it for us!

Again – when I see this –

it brings smiles and a memory of our home in NVA!

Today – I hope I have started your day with a smile –

a good thought and a happy day!

Papa’s World – our very first Christmas Holidays in the new house – lights – and tree.

View from the street – just a few wreathes – garland and small lighted- decorated tree on the front porch.

Sherry wanted to keep it simple this year – I have all the decorations stored over the garage.

So – she climbed up there for the very first time ( she is not good with heights or ladders)

And was surprised how I had organized all the big plastic tubs of decorations.

I had put down a rug and lined everything stacked up all around it!

Easy to get to and open up!

My favorite spot to sit and sip my first cup of coffee for the day!

Keeping it simple – all the lights are on timers and batteries!

They run for six hours and shut off!

It has been too chilly to sit out here in the mornings – in the high 20’s and low 30’s!

Unusual for down here.

But – it warms up in the sunshine and we also get days in the high 60’s to mid-’70s!

The three Swedish horses were made by our three oldest granddaughters – MADDY – ELLA and SARAH

We decided some four or five years ago to forego these big bulky green trees!

They were big and bulky and went into a big zippered bag – that as I was getting older –

too heavy and bulky to lift up and place on the shelf.

So – we bought our bare-brown colored what I call our “CHARLIE BROWN TREE”!

It all comes apart -folds inward and into a long slender cardboard box!

It is not heavy and stores easily!

We also went to the WOODLAND ornaments – winter furry little things and people!

There are many sentimental ornaments that have meaning for us on there!

Just keeping everything simple for this first year in the new home.

I knew from the start over 40 years ago – I WANT TO SPEND MY LIFE WITH HER!

She pushes this each and every day with our grand daughters.

She is a natural born leader and speaker – writer – and promotes harmony.

EQUALITY – ADMIRATION – OPPORTUNITY – ENVIRONMENT – RELIGION – PEACE – HAPPINESS

EQUAL rights for all – she is very strong on that.

ADMIRATION – she is admired by her Team Generations that she formed fourteen years ago,

OPPORTUNITY – she promotes this to all – helping all who seek it.

ENVIRONMENT – Walking she sees something that belongs in the recycle bin – she picks it up and places it where it belongs – always has been that way.

RELIGION – the family way – leading in church activities – volunteering – food pantry – book club – altar guild.

Papa’s World – Sherry’s happy places!

When ever we are on the beach – she is drawn to the water – wading – watching the surfers.

The beach draws her – to let off stress and a quiet place to walk – the sounds of the surf – the warm waters.

With friends – out and about – exploring the world with these two – every couple years we plan a break.

Buck and Cindy are our close friends – we moved into a house next to them 36 1/2 years ago –

and had known thenm before that. We get along and enjoy much of the same things.

Cindy is very active as is Sherry – always on the go. They walk together when we are around.

Now – our new home is about 40 minutes away from them.

We try to golf once aweek or go out to a show or dinner.

Family has and always will play a part in our lives. Sherry now is the oldest – and they all look up to her.

Here is Bode in front row with the five grandaughters behind him.

She reminds me so much of her father – tall – slim – smile – always on the go and a born entrepreneur

He always was looking for a way to make money and she has that also.

Not afraid to stand up in front of people and talk.

And they played golf just alike!

I became very good friends with him before he passed away – he told me many things promising I would not repeat them. All had to do with the War and I shall keep that promise I made to him.

I repsected him that much – it was a bonding moment for him and me.

Sitting on the Intercoastal waterway – just her and me – watching the boats and having dinner.

She loves our new area – back in NVA she would take dozens of visitors on tour guides into DC.

She is a leader – a natural born one at that!

And now – our new home – close to the beaches and the ICW – close to golfing and close to friends –

A place for FAMILY to visit and room to have them.

This is her happy place once again – walking – meeting new neighbors –

exploring and in a area that does not have the freezing ice and snow.

The new lanai and her putting her finishing touches on it!

These are but a few of her happy places – places she feels most comfortable in.

You see my friends – in 2013 I suffered a heart attack!

Called ” A WIDOW MAKER” I should not be here!

It is with in mind – I record our lives one day at a time –

In a little over one year – thanks to my wife Sherry –

I now have a following of 362 plus followers!

Of which I only know four of them!

The rest are from all over the USA and the WORLD!

Screen shot on a normal day – I never though this would happen – but I guess projecting good thoughts – happy family life and adventures of two 70 plus year old’s must appeal to people!
Sherry and Papa – (Tom) living our life one day at a time. Each day I am alive is a blessing! I do not take it for granted.

Sherry is the driving force behind my blog –

” YOU HAVE TO WRITE AND PUT IT SOMEWHERE – A PLACE WE CAN FIND – WHEN YOU ARE GONE”

That is the reality and I am okay with it!

I write for family – I write to record for future generations so they know who I was!

Each day I open the site – answer the comments and push on!

I include lots of pictures – they all tell a story.

Each day I start out not knowing what I will write about

I see a picture I have taken – a event we did – or where a day has taken us.

Then – I start – so far I have scheduled a month ahead in stories –

That way – is we are going someplace – all I have to do is share it to face book!

On here – it is automatically scheduled!

My hope and desire is to bring inner peace to those that read this – and to see – when adversity hits home – when death knocks on your door – there is a life beyond and each day is a blessing – one that had it gone the other way – well – I am happy it didn’t – and that is going to be my legacy – living life doing it my way – blog!

Papa,s World – Brook Green – Night of 1000 candles – near Pawley’s Island-S.C.

The night before we came back home to N.VA. – we drove 45 minutes South

Near Pawley’s Island S.C

to “BROOK GREEN”!

( and we will go back in warmer weather – to see it again in daylight!)

Huge Oak trees – with hanging lights – almost from the top!
Reflections in the water of lights!

The whole place – hundreds of acres – is dressed up in colored themes –

and over 1000 candles lit by hand!

Bronze statues are everywhere!

Some of the 1000 candles lit by hand!
Candles and lights – everywhere we went – a different theme – and colorful lights!
There were food trucks and a tent set up with drinks – hot chocolate – coffee and tea as well as water – soft drinks and beer!
So many different areas lit up – hard to capture them all!
You had to stay on the paths – and after dark – you could easily get lost in the maze of light!
Hanging moss lit up!
Paper lanterns lit in red and white colors!
Like fire flies in the sunset!
Sculptures with light reflecting on the water!

There must be a lot of volunteers to do all of this!

And – we only saw part of the park –

there also is a zoo here but was closed!

Today – I share smiles – good thoughts and positive feelings!

We are following our new dream after 14 years.

Learning and using people’s names!

That is a tough one for me even though I have a good memory.

Sherry will introduce me and I just seem not to retain it!

But – I am going to try harder!

Today I carry this in my pocket –

and the darn thing has a mind of its own.

All f a sudden I will faintly here a voice and I look around.

Sherry just laughs – my smile for the day – it is YOU!

Lo and behodl – I pull my SMART PHONE OUT –

and someone is talking – could be a video – or someone I do not know.

Anyway – it provided a smile and laugh at my expense! LOL

Willie Nelson – part of the famous country singers –

who called themselves “THE OUTLAWS” –

says it simple and true –

Which brings a smile to my face

and good thoughts in my heart!

YEAH – on my bucket list of UFO’S – Loch Ness

and BIG FOOT!

Now – another blog sometime – or did I already write one?

I did see a cluster of UFO’S and have no idea what they were.

But – I would love to see a BIGFOOT – not up close –

but to verify in my own mine they are real!

And YES – after my sighting of lights- I BELIEVE _

As MUELLER would say –

“The truth is out there”!

You know – there is truth in this – enough said –

SMILE – YOU’RE ON FACE BOOK!

Been together 39 1/2 years –

Married 38 plus years

and now – we are on our next adventure

Time to buy the CRAYON’S! LOL
