Papa’s World – The Meyers family at Raquet Lake!

Bode – Cassidy and Taylor and the Meyers girls – Sarah – Ella and Maddy!

This picture is fitting because the Meyers girls love the water – and boats!

Today – they are older but still free spirits when it comes to camping – hiking and boating!

Every year since they were born – a trip to Raquet Lake in NYS Andrirondacks –

has been their annual vacation.

Here are some pictures of those times at the lake!

Maddy – mother Debby – father Mike – Ella and Sarah on Raquet Lake.

Canoeing – boat riding – hiking – outdoors – campfires – nature – swimming –

just a few things this family does together.

Debby – the solitude of nature among the rapids at or near Raquet Lake.

The mountains of NYS – the forests and the lakes are in thier blood.

PAPA’S WORLD – THE MEYERS FAMILY AT RAQUET LAKE!

Papa’s World – Some stories and memories!

In this blog will be my memories of what the picture represents – writing jogs my memories!

After a year and one half of dating – we were married on 6-25-1982 in a little Lutheran church –

“BETHEL” in Portville, N.Y.

I had already converted from being Catholic to Lutheran.

Sherry was raised in Mount Jewett, Pa. – a Swedish community, and was Swedish Lutheran.

We both were married before and she had two daughters – ages nine and four –

I had two sons ages thirteen and nine.

We had custody of the girls and my ex had custody of the boys – except on weekends!

We combined the two sets of kids and did what we could and we had no money!

We lived way out in the country between Olean and Portville, N.Y.

The boys still lived in Eldred, Pa.

That being said – we spent a lot of time in the car shuffling children –

Sports – events – back and forth between exes –

We lived on the property for 5 1/2 years

and then moved to Pleasant Acres Drive just outside of Portville.

We both worked for American Olean Tile – Dal Tile the entire time we married.

This is a picture of my bride – Sherry – taken at the resort in the Dominican Republic in June 1982!

We had an all-inclusive week at the resort and had to drive from Portville, N.Y. to Toronto, Canada!

Here we flew out on Sunday morning –

being married Friday evening and traveling Saturday to Toronto.

It was hot – we disembarked fright off the plane onto the tarmac.

We smoked back then and cigarettes and cigars were included.

Anything you wanted to drink from 6am. to 2am. and also food –

Music – pool – private beach – and we had our own VILLA – BR – LR – Bath – and patio.

We shall always remember our time here and many unique experiences!

My two sons now after all these years – Troy on the left and Shawn on the right –

Both still live back in Pa. near where they grew up.

Both have been to visit us in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.

Sherry with Debby and Tammy – Debby lives in Lake Holiday in NVA – outside of Winchester.

Tammy lives just outside Leesburg – in NVA –

Debby has the oldest – Maddy – Ella and Sarah – while Tammy has the youngest –

Taylor – Cassidy and Bode.

This is how our life together began in June- 1982.

PAPA’S WORLD – SOME STORIES AND MEMORIES!

Papa’s World – both alike – both so different – twins.

Cassidy and Taylor on their 10th. birthday with mama Tammy. Who also shared the same day as a birthday!

Recently – two pictures were taken

one of each girl

Taylor and Cassidy.

My gosh – when did they look so grown up?

Cassidy with MORMOR & Ginger

Cassidy – the little of the two

actually – their difference has about stayed the same

but now Taylor is growing fast

she is going to be really tall

like her MORMOR – Sherry!

MORMOR in Swedish is MOTHERS MOTHER!

This is all she wanted when small

Cassidy had dozens of stuffed Panda’s

all lined up by her bed

today she is the TECHIE one

and the CRAFT one.

She also is a perfectionist

everything has a place

and she knows right away if anything has been moved!

Note how neat her desk is.
Taylor – going to be so tall – she looks a lot older her than ten years old!

Taylor – whom I think will be taller than Ella ( 5 ‘ 8 1/2 “)

and Sarah at 14 (5 ‘ 6 ‘) and going through a growth spurt.

She is laid back – needs her own TAYLOR TIME –

And loves horses and riding!

Her room is full of stuffed horses and horse toys.

Taylor who rides once a week

We have been monitoring them at the start of the school year.

But – we are now gone

It has its challenges

for both the twins and the monitors.

It also is Bode’s kindergarten year

But – we are glad we have been a part of it for the start.

We will be gone for five months

coming back for Holidays

BIRTHDAY GIRLS!

They still are so alike – I can not tell the difference

if they get excited – and I hear them talking.

Yet – they have different interests

so alike yet so differnet

when they all three sing

you do not know who is who!

As a monitor for two weeks – TEACHERS DO NOT MAKE ENOUGH!

I will not be surprised when we come back

the changes in both of them

it is not that Cassidy is small

but Taylor is really tall for her age!

Papa’s World – BODE – only grandson on Sherry’s side.

After five granddaughters the grandson came along – BODE!

Plays soccer – hockey – and is all boy!

Eight going on nine – I think like Taylor – he is going to be tall!

A handsome young fella – smiling – very helpful and wants to do everything by himself!

Here he is during his being with us for almost two weeks!

FIVE GRANDDAUGHTERS and then one GRANDSON – “BODE”!

Ella is almost 5’10 as is Sarah – Taylor is 5’7″ and only 12 – I think he will be taller than all of them!

PAPA’S WORLD – BODE – ONLY GRANDSON ON SHERRY’S SIDE!!!!!!

Papa’s World – And just like that – granddaughters graduate from Elementary school!

I can see it like it was yesterday – taking them to pre-school – singing a song!

Twins – dressed alike and their little HELLO KITTY backpacks!

They are different – Taylor was the bigger – in fact, the reason they were brought into this world early!

Cassidy at 3 lbs and Taylor at almost 4 lbs.

For some reason, she was getting all the nutrients and growing – so at 32 weeks plus a day or two

the doctors decided it was time – and it also was their mother’s birthday!

So now we celebrate birthdays in threes!

First day – Taylor and Cassidy.

Cassidy is the one who calls every week to talk to her MORMOR ( mothersmother) Swedish.

While she looks short – she is of average height – Taylor is going to be tall like her MORMOR!

Cassidy does soccer while Taylor has ridden horses since she barely walked.

Today they are both alike and different.

Taylor and Cassidy

Taylor would spend all her time riding and carrying for horses.

Cassidy – searching YouTube for projects to make – she is really good at that.

And just like that – going into Middle School!

Our little ones with the HELLO KITTY backpacks –

So grown up and doing their own things.

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa” World – looking back in time – THE TWINS – Taylor and Cassidy – such sweetness!

A little over 10 years ago – they came along – so tiny – early – because they determined one was taking all the nutrition.

And – the day they decided this – just happened to be their mother’s birthday!

That is right – mother and daughters now celebrate the same day birthdays!

IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME!

Cassidy and Taylor – they were so small with Taylor weighing some 13 oz. more!

Does not sound like much – but they both weighed some 3 lbs. plus oz. !

Through out life for them – Taylor has always been the bigger of the two.

They were so darn cute – playing hide and seek!

Cassidy is a little spit fire – Taylor more laid back!

They continue to grow this way – my thought is – Cassidy will end up taller than her mother who is
5′ 6″ tall – and Taylor is taking after her MorMor ( Sherry 5’9″) and will be close to 6’0 when all is said and done! She already is over 5′ at ten years old! Look at Cassidy’s socks!
Taylor and Bode with MorMor( Sherry) Bode is going to be tall also as he is only six years old!

Sweetness – Taylor rides horses – Cassidy is the more serious type – she teaches the other two crafts.

Taylor is always ready to help her in schoolwork –

Cassidy the more daring one – you can just tell that by the picture!

Both love their MorMor and both will call her!

The little SPIT FIRE! Cassidy – ” Someday I am going to be big” she says!

She has the biggest heart – always watching over the other two – her and Bode are two peas in a pod!

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – Of course – we played pickle ball!

Cindy Jim Dottie Papa

Cindy said “OKAY – WE ARE GOING TO WALMART”!

Okay – what for?

“WE HAVE OUR PICKLE BALL RACQUET’S AND EVERYONE NEEDS ONE!”

So – there you have it – we played Pickle Ball

on the tennis courts which also had

Pickle ball courts in our gated community!

Buck Jim Papa Sherry

When Sherry and I were spending the Winter months

with my brother in the Villages

we played some Pickle ball down there.

So – we had a idea how to play

Keeping score and shouting it out

when you served – well – sometimes that is a challenge

as you move around back and forth

and each side has a number!

It can be a little bit funny seeing seniors yelling out numbers!

And – Cindy had started taking lessons!

But – after some discussing the rules

we started to play – and it became a contest!

This time we split up and no longer guys vs the gals!

Jim Cindy Papa Dottie

We were there for over a hour

in the sun and shade

and it was a fun time!

Now – we were not as nimble as we once were

but we were nimble once as we were once upon a time!

Cindy Jim Buck Dottie Sherry Papa

I guess this may be part of our get together from now on.

Papa & Sherry we won our set vs Jim and Cindy

It was a friendly competition!

A lot of laughs and joking around!

Sherry and I won one set and lost another.

Jim & Buck before Buck took a tumble at which time we called it a day!

It was fun – and we played after our walk on the beach

and before we left for our final golf match

Gals vs. Guys!

Papa and Dottie Pickle ball Champs for seniors!
At least for this senior! LOL

Papa’s World – golfing at Sandpiper Bay – dinner at Clark’s!

Buck ready to tee it off!

Our friends – Cindy and Buck

live about 40 miles from where we are staying.

And – for 25 years or so

have been coming to this area to play golf.

Buck told me he has played

on 85 different courses here in that time!

Cindy ripping a shot down the middle
Sherry hitting her second shot down the middle

We play a game every time we golf together

recently it has been guys vs girls!

And – I say no strokes

because it always ends up 1 or 2 strokes either way.

They both are always in the middle!

Buck goes first and depending where he goes – is what I do next.
With me – I never know – left – middle or right

Try as I might – it is a guess where I end up.

But – we always have fun – chirping back and forth Cindy and I!

I say NO STROKES – she says YES STROKES!

Last two times out – they have beaten us by 3 and then 2 strokes!

On the first one we gave strokes ( 3)

and the second time here – zero strokes.

They are just too good and never in trouble.

Always in the middle on every shot!

Down the middle!
Ended up on the green!

In a few weeks – our other friends will be joining us

and we once again will play girls vs. the guys.

The Browns – the McBrides and us.

Buck and Cindy at dinner at Clark’s

After golf at Sandpiper Bay – we met Sherry’s sister Debby

who drove down to spend 4 or 5 days with us.

We had dinner sitting outside by the marina

A view of the boats
Harbor dining

We had a excellent dinner

recapping stories since it has been a while since they have seen her sister.

Sherry Papa Buck Cindy Debby

It was the perfect end to a great day!

We lost – they won –

and until we play again

I always enjoy this – NO STROKES – laughing!

Papa Cindy Sherry Buck

They are just too good!
