Papa’s World – Grateful – Living – New Memories

Thinking back to THAT day –

And now – the MEMORIES

I have gathered for the past almost six years –

I AM GRATEFUL !

Everyday – I wake up – I look around – ” WHAT IF ” ?

When you go through something that changes your life –

Knowing that it could of gone the other way

You tend to view life a little bit different !

That is when I realized that I wanted to be different !

Given another chance at life –

I wanted to leave SOMETHING !

I wanted to recharge my inner self!

I WANTED TO WRITE !

Writing had to mean something !

So – I formed SOMETHING !

I put in place THREE RULES !

RULE NUMBER ONE : Make people smile !

RULE NUMBER TWO : MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD !

RULE NUMBER THREE : NO POLITICS !!!!

Oh – I could write multitudes each and every day –

BUT I CHOOSE NOT TO !

Those are my criteria – my three rules –

And along with that –

To write about my life – each day as it unfolds !

To write about FAMILY – to leave a bit of history for future generations !

To record events –

A BOOK to look back on years from now !

To share our adventures that we do with FRIENDS –

We have traveled the World –

New York State & Pa.

Va. and N.C. – Florida –

SPAIN – MORROCO – GILBRALTER – CANADA – NEW ENGLAND – OAHU !

And now in six weeks –

a tour of Northern Cailf. !

Wine Country – Reno – Lake Tahoe –

Red Woods -San Francisco -Napa Valley

Yosemite – and more !

Being grateful – living – memories –

It happens when something major happens to your life.

Papas World – memories from way back when!

We planned this many months ago –

We would meet up half way

around 10:00 am.

And we would spend some time together!

FIVE HOURS LATER – we hugged and said our goodbyes!

Friends for over 40 years
Tom Sherry Lynda Fred

Fred and I graduated HS together – along with another good buddy

we had a lot of very great memories

and we rehashed a lot of them!

We met up at Crabby Bill’s
in St. Cloud Florida!

We got there at 10 am. and we walked around

it was beautiful sitting on a very large lake!

With a boat marina

and launch – very windy out!

The ride to and from was not on major highways

and I enjoyed that – the major routes –

well they come to a stand still with backups

every day in both directions!

We shared many a laugh
just like old days
somethings just never get old!

enjoying the company

We had a lot of catching up to do

for it must of been a good ten years

we had come down then and spent a few days with them

We decided to sit
talk – drink tea and coffee
and true to form
Fred spilled his!
LOL

It got warm enough while sitting outside to shed jackets

and we sat there for three hours –

our waiter named Murph –

was fantastic and never once urged us to leave!

We ordered small finger food and shared

soups – tenders – avocado cream cheese things

one crab cake grilled

and lots of coffee – ice water and unsweetened ice tea

and desert – two types of cheese cake

of which I ate almost none!

Proud of myself!!!!

We then got up and decided to walk around

We were full

and it was still windy – but in the mid 70’s!

And then we laughed and laughed!

I wish I could of gotten them all
old times were remembered
and it was as if no time had ever
come between us!

Our buddy who is wintering in Az.

suggested to me that maybe next year

we can all do the same

close to where Fred and Lynda live

which is Little Palm Bay

on the Indian river

near Melbourne!

Sherry and I thought that to be a great idea.

Lynda is going to do some checking for us on rentals

I will reach out to Bob next month

and hoping we can pull this all together!

Papas World – golfing- staying in touch – 38 yrs.

We played softball together in the mid ’70’s

and continued until I turned 40.

Then I played volleyball –

sometimes we played together

when I turned 48 –

I was getting too old – I turned to golf

and today – we still get together

drink a few beers and swing away

me more often than him! LOL

I am 9 years older – but we first met on the softball field

I went to his wedding

and we have been friends ever since.

We worked together before we moved

and along the way he introduced me to his friend Buck!

We ended up living right across the street from Buck and Cindy.

And we all would meet up-

and to this day some 35 plus years later – we still do!

Every 4 to 6 months we try to do this –

going from one house to the other

Buck and Cindy live just South of Wilmington N.C. now.

Jim and Dottie now live in Va. Beach area.

And of course we live SW of DC.

Our journey from back home – NWPA and SWNY has evolved

But we still stay in touch!

These three together laugh and laugh –

and they sneak the fireball!

Esp. when we golf – it almost always is guys vs. the gals.

And let me tell you – NO STROKES !

Jim wants to give strokes -and they will whip us!

We have played for years and years even up

and most often it comes down to one stroke difference!

We all were Bills fans – we kind of adopted the Redskins

only because when we moved -no one carried the Bills.

We tried for three years – there were two Sports bars

but it took a long time to get to them in DC traffic.

So – we still followed the Bills and watched the skins.

But Cindy and Buck – Dottie and Jim have remained die hard Bills Fans!

We got together this season in Wilmington

and all went to a Sports bar called the Lazy Pirate –

where we watched the Bills win!

On our trip to Northern California – at a Sports bar –

in old town Sacramento!

We have been trying to get Jim and Dottie to come along

with us on one of our trips.

Maybe this year they will!

It will happen one of these times

Maybe Nashville – or Gatlinburg or Oregon!

Who know where it will be next!
