Papa’s World – A visit by the Jones – family time and exploring!

Kristie – Maya – Olivia – Casey Jones – Sherry’s niece and family from N.C.

We had visitors for the weekend – from N.C. around three hours away.

Daughter and family of Sherry’s sister.

Sisters Olivia and Maya

The little ones were so excited – to finally be able to go somewhere

all due to the pandemic.

We tested – they rested and everything was good.

We only had one full day to explore – so we took them to Vareen Memorial Garden.

To hike and gather shells.

We also hit the beach for a short walk but it was windy and cold.

Searching for shells along the ICW – they even felt the water! LOL

PAPA’S WORLD Next blog – MAKE A WISH – FAMILY JONES!

Papa’s World – a walk along a deserted beach with grand kids!

Often times you look on the other side of the fence – and then there comes a time you get a chance to walk at a place that would look the same 300 years ago! Here is that place at the far end of Cherry Grove – S.C. where no houses are built – no piers or docks – just sand – ocean and trees and shrubs – a deserted beach!
This I think is what the coast line looked like long before the settlers came here. No buildings – just raw nature – surf – and sand!
First – you have to find the path through the trees and shrubs to get to the beach!
Finding a very large tree washed upon shore – perhaps 60 feet long!
Sherry Tammy Cassidy Bode Taylor

Walking along the surf – no one in sight – imagining that this is how nature looked centuries ago!

And then we turn around and in the distance the pier – broken from the last major storm! Mother and daughters – solitude – listening to the surf – and time to turn around – head back to the houses.
In the background – the end of the buildings – the broken pier and a deserted beach – and looking ahead into nature what it looked like all those years ago. Tammy – Cassidy – Sherry (MorMor) Bode Taylor

This is a place where the past meets the future –

and we had the pleasure to bring the family

to see – hear and experience it!

Walking back to the future – Bode and MorMor!
Walking to the past from the future!

Papa’s World – find a seashell – write a name and date – and then make a wish!

There is a place – next to the ICW – in Vereen Memorial Park – where you find a shell – date it and your name – hang it from a tree – and then make a wish – hundreds of the hang and this one is from our Taylor!
At ten years old – she already is five foot tall – she will someday be taller I think than her MorMor( Sherry) who is 5′ 9″ must be the Swede coming through!
I am little – some day I will be bigger – so she says – but every day she either calls or texts her MorMor ( Sherry ) and that sweet little soft voice – “I love you MorMor ” here she hangs her wish!
Cassidy showing her shell for a wish! I think she looks just like Taylor in this picture!
Bode – hanging his seashell wish – the only boy out of six grand children!
I have said – Cassidy and Bode should of been the twins – they are two peas in a pod!
Bode Taylor Cassidy

They came to spend a long weekend with us –

seeing where we live and where we are building our new home!

They were so excited – and hiking was on our things to do!

We had told them there was a place to make a wish and hang the shells from a tree!

But first you must search for the right shell

then date it and put your name on it!

MorMor – leading Taylor – Cassidy and Bode on a search for their own perfect sea shell!
MorMor(Sherry) inspecting each one as they bring them to her!

Papa’s World – looking out to the lake from inside the condo – Lanai!

When I first saw this Condo by accident on the internet –

I was drawn to the view!

I said to Sherry – “How would you like to look at this everyday”?

That is the moment we decided to make our home for five months

in North Myrtle Beach – S.C.

We had never had a thought to come here!

Every morning as I sit and work on my blog –

as it gets lighter outside –

I glance to my left and see this!

The early morning sunrise right outside the two sliding doors

off the living room.

And – in the master bedroom – through the sliding door

she also has this same view as the Lanai is screened in

and we are the top condo in a four story building

with two elevators twenty feet from our front door!

We can sit out on the Lanai or from the couches in the living room!

This lake is 1/2 mile long and is full of water fowl!

My office for my blog!

I can sit and watch it all unfold before my very eyes!

We have extended our stay – from the two months to five months.

And – maybe even longer!

As of now – we are looking at places to rent or buy or build!

We love living here – but there are two major drawbacks.

One – we need more storage if we were to move here.

Two – we need a garage for our car –

the hot sun down here can do a number on it!

Everyday we walk by this – still inside the gated community!

There are six different pools here and we can use them all.

There are work out areas with weighted machines

and exercise equipment for our use.

And in 6/10’s of a mile- we are on the beach!

Our beach access point

We walk to the beach almost every day

and then we walk on the beach

to get our three plus miles in!

We can hear the surf – from our Lanai!

We have searched this area –

but very little compares to this!

We are just going to enjoy what time we have left here in Ocean Keyes

North Myrtle Beach – S.C.

Looking to the outside from the inside of our Condo!

Papa’s World – a cool early morning walk on the beach!

There are times that we walk early – before 7 AM.

It is a quiet time to walk –

a time to just take it take in!

Life comes at you and never stops!

You and me are just along for the ride.

We can make the most of it

and when we get off

our legacy can continue to the next generations

hoping we made a lasting impression

in that all to be short ride!

How many have stood here before you?

How many have viewed the view?

Walking – thinking – talking together!

Early morning to clear out the mind –

A time to reflect – to plan.

A time to see what lies ahead

knowing that this will be here tomorrow

and the day after that many – many times!

Yes – walking early – hearing the sound of the surf –

the warm feeling of the Sun on your back or face.

A walk on the beach – a walk through time – a time to reflect

Walking – listening – solitude – but being together – sharing moments and thoughts -for it is here that ideas are formed – problems solved.

AN EARLY MORNING WALK ON THE BEACH!

Papa’s World – skies – sunset – living life – doing it my way.

Living life doing it my way is the theme to my everyday Blog!

As the above quotes –

LIVE ANYWAY – I take my days one at a time.

I came close to dying when I had my heart attack

A WIDOW MAKER they told me!

I looked at life different after that!

I cherish each sunrise and each sunset!

BE HONEST ANYWAY –

I guess this is the main reason I have no political party.

And I believe this has followed me my entire life.

It is hard to find honesty – and there are times I have not been.

But – my belief in God and forgiveness

Is the way I lead my life – thanks to my wife.

LOVE ANYWAY –

I try to follow this and it is hard to do.

I have many friends –

and I had to unfollow them on social media.

Not unfriend them

but the mean – unproven things were just too much for me.

But – I still LOVE them!

PLAY FAIR ANYWAY-

In games – life and living

I take this to heart

To me – it is how you play

not how you win.

I have always been that way –

I am competitive – but also fair.

If I lose – I lose

and come back again!

livinglifedoingitmyway.blog is MY SITE

Life comes at you – how you handle it – says a lot about you.

My hope in this blog – is that it helps someone out there

that you can be loved – fair – honest and live anyway!

Papa’s World – MUIR’S FOREST – REDWOODS

Finally – after visiting Muir’s Beach – it was time to retrace our route

and back to the reserved parking lot – to visit THE REDWOODS !

MUIR’S FOREST IN THE DISTANCE

So many pictures – so much awesome forest and trees –

that I have decided to break this down into a series.

MUIR WOODS

I have never seen a forest such as this –

so pristine – so awesome –

But – in the middle of all this –

a flash from the past –

A PAY PHONE !

Buck and Tom

You look up and up and still up !

Upon entering – a telling of Muir Forest
The history

This forest has been here for

some say 1600 years at least !

The roots are shallow

It was explained to me – that this is the perfect storm so to speak.

One – between 42 and 68 degrees –

FOG – these are the only trees to absorb moisture through their leaves !

The protection from the winds in their valleys.

And – their root systems being shallow –

they intertwine with one another !

Sherry and Cindy

The Sun is hot -the shade is cool !

Buck
Cindy

I wonder why all the older trees hollow out on the bottom ?

INTERESTING

Thank you for reading Papa’s World –

the Muir Forest Redwoods will continue.
