Papa’s World – Keeping POSITIVE thoughts in these times!
This can be tough with today’s constant bombardment of pointing fingers –
taking sides and the untruths that are out there.
But – I find that concentrating on the positive –
Thinking and planning ahead –
to just get your mind off of negativity –
goes a long way in reinforcing your positive side!
Planning a trip – vacation –
Family and friends – or just a getaway.
Walking the beach is a great way for me to lose myself and be creative.
Going to the local Home Depot or Lowes and walking around the garden centers.
Forming thoughts about where to put next year’s new flowers.
Greeting people with a smile – it’s FREE!
Meeting up with friends –
being on the golf course is a way for me to be positive!
I AM POSITIVE AFTER THAT GREAT SHOT THERE WILL BE MORE!
After all – that is what brings me back! LOL
Thinking – planning – seeing –
all combine to either make or break your day.
It is yourself that determines your thought process –
SMILE – HAPPY THOUGHTS – KINDNESS – HELPING –

Papa’s World – Pelicans – sky – just a quiet evening at sunset beach pier!
We decided after dinner to drive over the causeway to Sunset Beach –
park and then I had a beer and Sherry had unsweet ice tea –
paid our dollars and walked out onto the pier!
A quiet evening on the pier – people fishing – people strolling and taking pictures –
surf – sand, and water –
a time to reflect on one’s self!
Papa’s World – My inspiration – my friend – my health buddy – my wife – SHERRY!
I knew from the start over 40 years ago – I WANT TO SPEND MY LIFE WITH HER!
She is a natural born leader and speaker – writer – and promotes harmony.
EQUAL rights for all – she is very strong on that.
ADMIRATION – she is admired by her Team Generations that she formed fourteen years ago,
OPPORTUNITY – she promotes this to all – helping all who seek it.
ENVIRONMENT – Walking she sees something that belongs in the recycle bin – she picks it up and places it where it belongs – always has been that way.
RELIGION – the family way – leading in church activities – volunteering – food pantry – book club – altar guild.
PEACE – firmly believes in obtainment of WORLD PEACE.
HAPPINESS – always smiling – always laughing – always exuding a happy feeling.
We go everywhere together – I have become since retirement – “DRIVING MISS SHERRY”
She has inspired me to “GO HEALTHY” !
We walk every day when the weather permits.

Papa’s World – Eating out – Social Distancing – being careful.
Welcome to Papa’s World – from North Myrtle Beach – in S.C.
Where we have temporary taken up residence!
We sold our home of 14 years in NVA.
Stayed with our daughters for over two months
packed up and came South – searching for were and what we want to do next!
We have searched out and found places to visit – usually once a week we venture out to eat.
Always being aware and checking them out ahead of time.
Almost all have conformed to Covid19
Spacing out tables and we choose to be there early
before the normal dinner or after the normal lunch crowd.
And if we can not do this – then we order pick up and go!
We are in our dream place – beach – warmth – things to see and do – and GOLFING!
We found this by accident – and we knew we had to try it out!
Every day we walk and include the beach in that walk.
But – we still believe in and practice Social Distancing!
The wide open beach is easy to do as you get nowhere near anyone.
Walking also is no problem as we stay far away from people and they also do the same.
And as you can see in the pictures here – our time to be there – lowers the risk.
Again – we limit this to maybe once a week.
There is a greater risk in shopping for food – although 99.9 % of the people
honor wearing masks – after all – it is not only yourself you are protecting
but those whom you come close to!
Common sense –
NO SHOES – NO SHIRT – NO MASK – NO SERVICE!
It is not a RIGHT QUESTION
But THE RIGHT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT!
Today we live in a not normal World anymore.
The virus is real – and easy to catch.
The numbers are what overwhelms the establishements health care.
In large population centers – the volume –
critical patients – will take up bed space
leaving those with other life threatening illness
no place to go – as the ICU’S fill up!
COMMON SENSE!
We are extending our stay here until the end of June
at which time we are hoping our build will be done.
Yes – we decided to build –
one half hour away into N.C.
Where we will still have this – walking the beach – social distancing.
Where we dream to be.

Papas World – welcome to my World of thoughts!
I started this blog with the idea of putting my thoughts
into writing – trying to keep it simple

There is so much negative – so many postings that hurt.
So – here I am – bearing my soul!
For to be able to post everyday
and to scroll past the negative

but we always agree
to disagree

And I am fortunate to have found her
When we made our vows all those years ago
The sermon was based on
The Church on a rock
as in foundation
That remains true 38 years later!

Not a day goes by –
“Have you seen my phone”?

She is the driver on health
walking – ( I DO NOT RUN) !
Been there – done that –
and I always end up hurting myself!
But she is a runner
she likes it
and has always placed high in her age group!
I – for some reason – do not like wine!
Nor do I do SHOTS!
Not into Whiskey etc.
I will drink beer –
but it has to be light!
Generally – I am not a drinker –
but with our friends
I can hold my own!
And that is rare when it happens!
A few years before we moved South
we had to put her down
she had been with us for almost 14 years!
I held her on the way to the vet.
She would lose the ability to walk
Her hind legs just would not work!
She licked my face –
Sherry drove – I cried!
And that day in my mind I made a pact with her-
She would be the last – but never forgotten
R.I.P. Samantha – Sam for short.
My first Super bowl watching
on a color TV!
It was in the I think mid 60’s.
My father was part owner
of the Western Auto in the small town
I grew up in.
On the floor was the first color TV in that store.
We gathered there and watched the game!
The next week – it was in our living room!
Prior to that –
He came home and announced
WE WERE GOING TO HAVE COLOR
on our TV!
He then put this plastic colored film
over the black and white TV!
IT WAS GREEN ON THE BOTTOM!
BLUE ON THE TOP!
AND ORANGE – YELLOW – RED IN THE MIDDLE!
That was the rage back then –
Funny today!
We all ate at the table –
my younger brother
My older brother and sister – 10 & 15 years older
were gone – college and married
Friday’s were no meat –
pancakes –
Salmon patties – and my dads favorite
OUSTER SOUP!
I do not know how he ate that!
But he sat at the head of the table
with a hot electric griddle
And flipped pancakes
while my mom stood by the stove
Frying the salmon patties!
I still can see and smell it today
The best of home cooking
and my mom baked cookies- rolls and bread every day!
And home made pies and cake!
She was known all over town for her baking!
I think I got that from my mother –
And I really do not need instructions
I just sort of remember and just wing it!
Sherry -not that way –
and she is a excellent cook
love her homemade soups!
I am neither half full
or half empty
I love solving problems and organizing
and I pay attention to details
I am a bull dog when it comes to doing something
once I start
( that sometimes is not starting)
I carry on to the end!
Ask me to arrange a outing –
and I am on it!
Just something I am good at!
However – working on a car – repairing something-
well – I have no patience –
and if something breaks or goes wrong
I am done – and that is what I am bad at!

But I have a partner who watches over me
who takes care of me
who is my one and only soul mate
That allows me to be me!
Who is my caution
Who is my sounding board
Who is my opposite
