A sand maze in NMB!

We took the three youngest grandkids here –

So they could see and try to solve one of the two sand mazes on this beach.

In the middle is Bode trying to work his way through!

If you want to entertain your kids –

They will spend quite a long time trying to find the way through!

Just a small part of BEACH LIFE!

When we can not eat all those fruits and vegetables raw-

We are taking the nutrients every day that research shows go directly into the bloodstream!

For twenty years, we have followed this plan.

Each day we consume the nutrients of 30 fruits, berries, and vegetables.

Being so close –

We can make this an everyday walk if we so wish.

We have bought a parking pass for the last two seasons since they installed paid parking –

On both Sunset and Ocean Isle Beach.

All part of BEACH LIFE!

Now in our fourth season of volunteering for the Protection of Sea Turtles –

We are on the island almost every day from mid-May to mid-October.

This has ingrained us into community living on BEACH LIFE!

A little grill is the perfect place on the island to grab a coffee or tea and watch the boats come and go at the marina!

This is the main part, as soon as you cross the bridge,

The parking lot at the bottom is where we have a season pass to park.

The green area with an amphitheater above the mini golf course –

Where every Friday night from mid-May to early September –

Are free open-air concerts with live Carolina Beach Bands and music!

All are open to tourists and the locals for free!

Papa’s World – Life in the CAROLINA’S!

Playing golf is a big part of our lives – we wanted to do that back in NVA –

but it was too expensive for us being retired where we lived!

Here – we can purchase what is called “THE FIRST TEE” card –

this has 52 courses on it and gives us reduced rates –

Usually after 12:00 o’clock – which is okay as we like playing then.

The other rule is you can only make tee times 48 to 24 hours in advance.

When I call up I say – “Do you have a tee time after 12:00 noon – they then will give me the first open tee time and that is okay with us –

We have never been told no.

Living so close to the border of N.C. and S.C. – it can and does get hot in the afternoons –

but take plenty of water – stay in the shade as much as you can – and ride the cart-

gives you a breeze – plus it rarely bothers me!

Most times you have the Carolina blue skies and puffy white clouds.

Springs and Falls are great times – winter – can be – sunshine – dress warm and you are good to go!

On our card are over 30 courses near us that we can play!

This area was our first choice to build a home!

Both because of the price and the location –

to the beaches ( two of them) and the courses – over 30 of them.

We are right in the middle!

And our friends of many years live some 40 minutes away –

and they come here all the time to golf!

There seems to always be some clouds at the beach and a lot of time when they call for storms –

it will pass by out to sea.

We are fortunate to be able to come to these beaches whenever we want.

Most times we find a parking space and walk to the beach.

There is paid parking ($10.00) all day at the piers of both beaches.

I think we have only paid twice in the four years we have been here!

Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach have been voted as the top beaches on the Carolina coast!

Papa’s World – decided to visit the other beach near the new house – SUNSET BEACH! N.C.

The pier in the distance – we went in and grab something to eat and just sat and enjoyed the view!

We knew Ocean Isle Beach was a eight minute drive from the new house- without heavy traffic.

Now – it was time to see just how far the other beach – Sunset Beach – was from the new house.

So – we drove and it was 13 minutes!

About five minutes longer in no traffic!

So – there you are – two beaches to choose from – and if we want – we can go back to NMB –

some 30 minutes away – with no traffic.

We checked out the parking as we understand that in the busy part – this could determine where we go!

They have pay parking – which you can pay a set price for the year –

and – like the other beach – off the road parking –

but we were told to be careful on that – if you do not do it right –

like blocking the bike path or sidewalk –

you will get a fine!

The other direction on Sunset Beach which we were told was voted one of the top ten beaches in the country! And it really is nice – time will tell if we like it more that either of the other two beaches!

It was a very windy day on the sand – so we decided not to walk the beach –

but rather see where we can walk among the streets and houses.

We did find a path to walk – while not going on the sand –

and could see we could easily get our three mile walk in!
