LIFE is full of so many wonders and memories!

Above sits the KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX!

This is on Bird Island, but really the far end of Sunset Beach to the Western End.

From the pier-

About a two and one half mile walk through sand and surf if you so choose.

The surf keeps you cool on a hot day in the sun.

Decades ago, two free-spirited hippies –

Carried tools and a mail box –

Along the shore of sand and surf-

To this spot on a high dune.

Here it has stood all those years –

Being replaced as the weather and sun have beaten down on it!

Today, two benches have been installed with plaques.

And behind on top of the sand dune-

Sits a large piece of driftwood with plaques also on it.

The names of those two hippies are there to read!

The Kindred Spirit Mailbox is there for you to write in the journal your thoughts, prayers, or just a sounding board!

The quiet solitude of just the sound of the surf and birds-

Occasionally, another soul approaches –

You write, sit, and then leave those thoughts in the journal as the next person-

Takes a seat on the bench and writes their thoughts on the journal pages.

For decades and decades, this has been going on, and the journals were saved at a University to be preserved.

Our walk in life has also lasted decades and decades since we were married on 6-25-1982!

We have walked those few miles to the mailbox numerous times –

Alone and with family!

As the Sun rises each day –

Here is Sherry at the sunrise of a new day!

LIFE begins another new day.

Together, we navigate that day.
