Papa’s World – Present days and past memories!

Hard to believe –

The six grandkids are growing up!

Bode- the only boy –

Is in fifth grade!

Next is Cassidy and Taylor-

Both are freshmen in HS!

Then Sarah –

Freshmen in College!

Maddy and then Ella –

Have graduated from college and are working!

It seems like yesterday they were all at the beach –

Little Bode and the rest were sitting on the sand.

The present is upon us-

The past is memories!

Bobby and his wife Pam.

Sherry and Papa.

Bob and I go back to grade school.

Staying overnight at each other’s house –

Playing sports together.

Growing up in Eldred, Pa.

Today, they are spending one year near us in a rental –

After over six years on the road in an RV!

FRIENDSHIP of the PAST –

To FRIENDSHIP of the PRESENT!

YEARS OF MEMORIES!

The date-

6-25-1982!

After a year and a half –

We were married.

Combining two sets of children.

In those days, we were poor.

But we made it work.

Living way out in the country –

The driveway was 1/10th of a mile long!

Great for sled riding-

In the winter snows!

But days and days of mowing all the lawn and along the driveway.

Money was tight –

But we did what we could on packing food for long weekends camping in a tent-

Or her parents’ fifth wheel!

Four and a half years we lived out there-

In the country.

Many fond memories, and we do go back when we are up there –

To just bring back the memories and see it from the end of the long driveway!

Good Day!

Early in our life together –

I dream of living near the beach!

We went on vacation to the Outer Banks!

The shores of New Jersey-

Florida and Virginia.

We even went to Myrtle Beach!

But- we always knew in the waning days of the week –

We would pack up and head back home!

That was the bummer –

Back to reality!

So – after we both retired –

And the Pandemic caused the 401K to go way down-

But the housing market expanded, and the price of our home went up

We sold, cashed in, and headed South!

After nine months of renting a condo on a lake in North Myrtle Beach-

We moved into our newly built home in Ocean Isle Beach –

Cameron Woods Community – N.C.

We were still close to NMB- 16 miles –

Shopping –

The hospital and doctors.

When you are our age –

That is important, –

As is the Dentist and eye doctor.

Entertainment is thirty to sixty minutes away.

All the nearby beaches are ten to thirty minutes away.

Here – we sit on OIB – ten minutes from our home.

In July 2024, with family,

We celebrated our 75th. birthdays!

Our home is designed to provide space-

For all of them.

We are for the most part –

Out of the snow, ice, and very cold weather.

Neither of us likes the cold and is not winter sports savvy!

We can step outside in our driveway to observe the sunrise.

It is green year-round –

We can grow our TOWER GARDEN-

Year-round on our back patio!

We try to see the grandkids as much as we can, and they come down to our home!

We are well into our SENIOR YEARS-

And twenty years ago –

We searched and found a way to age as healthily-

As we possibly could!

YES- IT IS!!!!!

Oh, to have these days back again!

Here – the twins – Cassidy and Taylor –

Back when they dressed alike-

That is not the same today!

It was at this age that they would help me with the Fall cleanup!

Bagging leaves!

They would help and then play hide and seek in the piles of leaves!

Those days are gone, but the memories linger on!

My good thought!

My brother Roger –

Gone but not forgotten.

We spent a considerable amount of time with him over the last ten years of his life.

Memories I cherish!

The Causeway Bridge to Ocean Isle Beach.

This is just ten minutes from our home in Cameron Woods Community!

We are often on the island –

On the beach, at the park, or at the community center.
