Papa’s World – High and Low Tides – exceptional.

October is the month for exceptional HIGH and LOW tides!

I did not know that!

No – I did not go to this extreme to see where the tide came up to.

But – from our Lanai one half mile away –

we could hear the BOOMING of the Surf!

So – Sherry looked it up and sure enough

we were in this week of very high and low tides!

So – we went for our daily walk in the morning

Just after high tide had been there

and I captured this photo!

HIGH TIDE CAME UP TO THE BOTTOM STEP

OF THE LIFEGUARD CHAIR! WOW!

And then in the afternoon – I snapped this picture

looking back toward the mainland

and down the beach – that same chair would of been

where the light colored sand is!

This was not even LOW TIDE YET!

I guess this happens once a year in October!

ME AND MY SHADOW!

This beach is very wide normally

during normal tides

and very flat and hard surface

you can wade way out if you want

not me – I saw a sand shark caught

within 20 yards of the beach!

Papa’s World – morning walking – making a loop

This is where it all begins each morning.

Sunrise – a cup of coffee

the stillness of nature

and – when we are dressed early

out the door and down the elevator

to begin our walking loop

of three plus miles!

We had excellent trails where we lived

some 18 miles

here we have discovered numerous ways to walk

and they all end up taking us to the Ocean and Beach!

We have managed to get at least a mile of beach walking

incorporated into our three mile walk.

This walk was 3.36 miles!

And once on the beach – we can go in either direction.

We have found routes in both directions!

I love walking in the early mornings.

And as you can see – it is nearly deserted!

Walking early after I have had my coffee –

listening to the early morning sounds

and the waves lapping against the shoreline!

Once again – the walk on the beach

leaving to start back home

that part of the walk over

One final moment – one final glimpse

only to be repeated the next day.

Papa’s World – beach day – warm sun – but cool breeze off the Ocean – three hours – relaxing!

She said to me after about a hour – you can not lean back in this chair and take a nap!

And she was right – while we had different chairs – you couldn’t in mine either!

Papa – checking my phone for Pandora – seeing how much battery life was left!

Music to the left and music to the right – I just turned it off!

Depending on the wind – I could hear one or the other and with no wind – Both!

But – what a beautiful day – almost 80 degrees – hot sun but cool breeze off the ocean.
And then they have to put it on the right way! LOL!

We decided to stay for two hours and then we added another hour,

Since we had eaten almost everything we had brought with us –

We decided that was enough and went back to the car –

Yes – instead of walking down – we drove only because we had our chairs-

speaker – drinks – little table and the food and towels!

Those three hours involved some walking – some reading and some listening to the music and watching a kite and people watching!
Soon – it would be back to the condo and this view – either way we win!

Papa’s World – once again – Wicked Tuna – Myrtle Beach for a bite to eat!

Inside “WICKED TUNA” by the pier – Myrtle Beach , S.C.

We had been out shopping for furniture and were down in this area

by the Boardwalk on the Grand Strand.

We decided to stop back in –

and it was so windy and cold – we stopped our walk and went back to the car

and drove here instead of walking!

On a warmer day – some days are warm and coat less – others – you just do not want to walk!
Looking back toward the boardwalk of Myrtle Beach – note the flags – wind blowing!

We had purchased furniture and needed to plan our second stop!

We had been here before and enjoyed it!

When we went in – we were the only people there!

We had the whole place to ourselves!

The view we had from our table – the pier – deserted and no one on the beach!

Papa’s World – a cool early morning walk on the beach!

There are times that we walk early – before 7 AM.

It is a quiet time to walk –

a time to just take it take in!

Life comes at you and never stops!

You and me are just along for the ride.

We can make the most of it

and when we get off

our legacy can continue to the next generations

hoping we made a lasting impression

in that all to be short ride!

How many have stood here before you?

How many have viewed the view?

Walking – thinking – talking together!

Early morning to clear out the mind –

A time to reflect – to plan.

A time to see what lies ahead

knowing that this will be here tomorrow

and the day after that many – many times!

Yes – walking early – hearing the sound of the surf –

the warm feeling of the Sun on your back or face.

A walk on the beach – a walk through time – a time to reflect

Walking – listening – solitude – but being together – sharing moments and thoughts -for it is here that ideas are formed – problems solved.

Papa’s World – late afternoon walk on the beach – daily routine!

The sunrise gives out the desire to begin walking outside – however – a cold snap – so walking the beach in the afternoon!

The warm rays from the sun – sand beneath my feet – casting a shadow – living our dreams!

Sherry walking – we have come to always head to the beach –

and as Sherry says ” SEE OUR OCEAN”!

But – as soon as we start the one half mile walk

we can actually hear the surf.

When there is a storm somewhere OUT THERE –

the waves get large as well as the sound.

Listening – as we walk closer –

and then – breaking the plain of the dunes

we see the waters – cresting – wave after wave

Warn sunshine – large waves –

making the music we love

OUR OCEAN – so we have come to call it!

Footprints in the sand – a hazy sky – luring us on – walking – walking!

Much too soon – it is back to the parking lot and straight up the street

to our gate back onto the gated community!

Where in the late afternoon sun – the ducks and geese – come together – to rest for the night!

Papa’s World – Afternoons on the beach!

Looking North on North Myrtle Beach toward Cherry Grove.

Almost every afternoon – we take our two chairs

my BOSE radio speaker –

Pandora on my phone for easy listening

and a couple drinks

then we sit – walk – read and watch the Ocean and hear the waves.

This part of our dream vagabond life

coming true –

living life – walking healthy – moving –

observing – listening –

“HOTEL CALIFORNIA” in the background.

I have my GILLIGAN hat on –

to keep my protection against those sun rays.

I wear a shirt for the same.

Sometimes I have a single beer –

most times it is water.

We walk the tidal pools

the water feels warm

fishermen are always on the beach and in the surf

Down here by the shore –

the clouds and blue sky are beautiful

The sand is not hot to the feet

and is like soft powder

IMAGINE ALL THE PEOPLE!

Mostly older folks here

but you do see the young ones braving the water

We generally stay for two hours

leaving between 5:00 and 5:30 PM.

On our next bucket list of things to do

and in a few days will become a reality

Is to come down to the beach at FULL MOON!

We are almost there now!

Afternoons on the beach

listening to easy rock

reading – doing some network marketing

dreaming – making dreams come true.

Peace – quiet – surf – warmth from the sun

for us – it all has just begun.

Papa’s World – when you get excited – see some Jimmy Buffet – relax – it will be OK!

We had been touring – listening to advice from friends

strangers – and our landlord!

We were visiting different housing neighborhoods

and came across one that we THOUGHT would be IT!

So much so that we actually had the salesman contact his manager.

Could we purchase the lot next to the model

which currently was a parking lot for the model

and place the exact home on that lot

facing the big water view pond

for the exact price of the model?

Well – we left with a package and a wait for a answer.

We were six miles from Broadway on the beach

which meant 7 miles and 15 minutes to the Ocean and beach.

Exactly what we were looking for!

And it would be a brand new home – not to big –

but – as we drove away – it was five miles to a store for food!

A perfect storm so to speak – but a little far to go and buy bread with traffic.

However – it was enticing and more so when we got the email.

“YES” was the answer and they discounted that lot by $5000.00!

Then – we heard JIMMY sing – about the HURRICANE

and this HURRICANE started to rain

into that MARGARITA GLASS

and the whole place sang along!

But the rest of the email read-

“CLOSING WOULD BE JUNE OR JULY”!

8 or 9 months away!

We listened to the song and reflected on our choice

it was there but a little out of reach.

We decided there listening to Jimmy Buffet

calm down – enjoy the journey

for we have only just begun.

Papa’s World – the beauty of the Sunrise – cloudy day!

I have always like the mornings – the dark becoming light!

Sipping my coffee – usually after I have checked emails

written my blog –

I watch for the breaking of dawn –

The birds chirping

Sunrise – the beginning of a new day!

On cloudy days such as this one – it still is warm –

and ahead for us that day – was a day of golf!

Perfect in that the sun is not beating down on you!

On the beach – the sky is turning a light blue!

It was going to be a grand day!

As we departed a hour or so after the sunrise

All I could think of was just how much I enjoy life!

I guess I am a little bit sentimental

A little bit on the warm and fuzzy side.

But every time I see the breaking of a new day

I know in my heart that this is me –

always looking forward

always with a idea and plan in my mind.

Seeing the day – living the life – doing it my way.

For that is the only way I know how to live.
