Papa’s World – Barefoot Landing – visited again.

When we moved to Ocean Keyes in North Myrtle Beach at the beginning of the Pandemic –

One area we loved to go to and walk was Barefoot Landing – NMB!

During this time it was almost deserted – hardly any people although a lot of the stores remained open.

A ghost town with water – boardwalks – stores and only “US”!

From the open walkway across the lake – a view of LULU’S – a favorite place of ours to just go and have a drink while people-watching at the bar.

Today – it is still with only a few people in the off-season – yet all the restaurants are open and mostly full of people.

We still go there to just walk – getting in our steps.

A bunch of turtles huddled together by the shore –

There are gators here – although I seldom see them.

During this off-season they have done a lot of work replacing rails – floorboards along the entire Barefoot Landing – that decks look fantastic!

It can be a bit windy walking these walkways across the water-

but it also provides the wildlife you see!

The outdoor covered bar area of CROOKED HAMMOCK provides views of the water

while sitting in BAR SWINGS!

This day was chilly and not open to the public.

It was during that first year of 2020 that in October

we began our nine-month lease of a condo

in Ocean Keyes that during our walks here –

We saw this enterprise being built –

now when we visit –

it is here that we most often come for food and drinks!

CROOKED HAMMOCK has their own onsite Brewery and tasting room along

with large indoor and outdoor seating.

Firepit and a large stone fireplace.

A lot of games to be played and a big area for children to play.

In this picture, the Brewery and tasting room is to the left and the restaurant is to the right.

PAPA’S WORLD – BAREFOOT LANDING – VISITED AGAIN!

Papa’s World – Sunset at Sunset Beach – nature’s wonder.

Good day – we are close to this beach – a short 12-minute drive and then the walkway over the dunes to the beach.

The walkway is long and goes over the sand and dunes – shrubs – small trees and a habitat for all kinds of native species.

Along the way – you can see the sun beginning to dip below the horizon – many bushes line the walkway.

Looking back along the walkway to the beach houses – this is the far end of Sunset Beach – from here on it is BIRD ISLAND –

no beach houses – just sand and dunes and ocean surf!

You may find it hard to park here as it is limited and no blocked driveways and no parking allowed signs.

When you can find parking – tires are not allowed on bike paths or sidewalks.

But – when you do find one it is worth it to be able to walk this out to the beach.

Sherry and Papa at the end of the walkway and the ramp down to the beach – the sunset is fantastic, behind us is BIRD ISLAND – nothing but sand – dunes, and surf – a mile plus from here is the KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX which has existed for more than forty years. Google it and read the history of this historic place.

Sherry walking down the ramp to the beach in the sunset – they sky always change here depending on the clouds!

After walking on the beach – time to head back and the final rays of sun through the foliage on the walk back.
