Papa’s World – Walking Lake Sumpter Landing!

On a recent spring day –

We and friends – Pam and Bob –

Rented a golf cart for the day!

We were in THE VILLAGES and used it to travel to Brownwood and back –

To Lake Sumpter Landing!

We found a place to park on the main street-

And then started our walking tour.

The place where we rented the cart was just a couple of blocks away.

We had an app on the phone that gave directions to cart paths.

Sherry and I knew this area as we would spend winters –

With my brother Roger, who lived but a half mile away!

We would walk from his house and had a routine of where to walk every day!

We always would stop for coffee and iced tea!

Memories came flooding back.

We once met the mother and grandparents of Patrick Reed –

A professional PGA golfer in front of an Asian restaurant!

I once watched the Boston Red Sox team management on the town square.

We would sit and watch the line dancers and other folks at night –

When the live music would play across the town square.

On this day, right across from RED SAUCE ( my brother Rogers’ favorite hangout)-

And next to the radio station –

A man with two parrots sat and let people hold the birds!

A tip jar was there –

And they were quite colorful.

She once let a street vendor put a snake around her shoulders in Morocco!

She said she could feel the bird’s talons dig into her arm!

NOT ME – if it is going to happen –

It will happen to me –

Like a pigeon flying across the 100,000-seat stadium –

and it craps –

IT WOULD END UP ON ME! LOL

A wonderful golf cart-filled day was had by the four of us.

This was a BUCKET LIST event for me.

A way to bring back all those memories of days gone by.

Papa’s World – DAY # 100 with friends – RESTON VA.

We have been on the move – packing –

going back and forth to the storage unit.

So we were invited by friends to meet up at the Reston Town Center.

Where we found four chairs – placed them at least six feet apart

and sat down and ate our curbside pickup!

We met up with Jason & Ginger Child –

and while it was raining – sometimes a cloud burst

we found shelter under the covered ICE SKATE RINK

Now covered in artificial grass –

with all these colorful chairs and decorations!

Our peaceful little space – under the clear roof – with a slight rain!

It was so nice to just sit and talk – eat – and watch people –

all respecting distance – and being outside – we took our masks off

to of course eat and sip our ice teas!

The topics were one and many – the laughs – well – a way to relax.

We have a lot to be thankful for – sitting with friends outside

in the fresh air – listening to the rain –

eating lunch –

it is the little things in life that are full of surprises

Thank you Ginger for the invite!

And Jason – who works from home 7 days a week –

A chance to take a break –

Someday my friend – we shall play a round of golf!

Thank you for reading Papa’s World

Papa’s World – During the Summer – FOOD TRUCK’S

GOOD MORNING

Every other Thursday – during the Summer months –

Across from the Town Center – by the Legacy Park –

FOOD TRUCKS gather – 7 to 10 of them !

From 5:30 to 8:30 PM.

FOOD TRUCK THURSDAY
LEGACY PARK
BRAMBLETON TOWN CENTER

We have gone the last two times and have tried three different food trucks !

The cost is a little less than if you went to a restaurant –

And the meals are really good !

I had the Angus Organic beef burger
from this green and yellow food truck

I had the organic – grass feed Angus beef burger –

I would say it was almost a 1/2 pound bugger –

and almost no grease dripping !

Sherry had from another truck –

Pulled BBQ Pork – beans – mac and cheese and coleslaw-

Altogether on one plate –

And if you have ever been to Rochester N.Y.

Up there it is called a ” GARBAGE PLATE “

and for years and years the college students have raved over it !

Finding a bench in the park
Most tables and benches
in the park were already occupied
Early gathering of people

We did find a bench – a lot of people did the same thing we did!

We just sat down – no drinks – just our food – and watched the children play.

The food truck with grass fed – organic beef

I have to say – every other Thursday – we most likely will attend –

And – on opposite Thursdays – is live – open air –

stage entertainment – concerts !

This is all part of what they call the SUMMER SERIES festival.

You bring your lawn chair – they have some food trucks –

It is all blocked off and you get a ID wrist band –

only if you are purchasing a beer from the beer truck-

you can bring your own picnic

And from 7:00 to 9 PM. live music !

They erect a large stage

and each time – different music – for all ages.

Leaving the food trucks
and walking back to the car

This is just a part of our lives in Brambleton Va.

Listed as one of the top 25 community’s in the USA.

Walking back to the town center

The town center with other shopping – entertainment –

Movies – restaurants – banking – bars – groceries –

dry cleaning – parking garages – health center – etc.
