Papa’s World – The life we live!

Sherry and I have always lived our lives to protect the environment and help others when we can.

Almost everywhere we have lives –

We have planted “TREES”!

We live for our families, our church, and the life we have chosen in this turmoil in everyday life.

It makes me sad to see what is happening now in this world.

Life now is a road full of pitfalls.

But life to us is also full of volunteering –

Trying to help where we can.

About two miles from the Sunset Beach Pier toward the SE –

Sits a mailbox that has been there for over four decades!

This is a place of solitude-

A place to sit and gaze out over the ocean or over the dunes and marshlands.

“THE KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX,” as it is called.

A journal is placed within with a pen or pencil

You are encouraged to write –

Leave a message or just a thought!

It is monitored daily and removed and replaced when full.

Years and years worth of journals.

I am not sure, but I have heard they are preserved at a university.

After decades and decades, it is still there.

A peaceful setting still preserved, and our kind of thoughts –

This is what we live our lives for.

We choose our lifestyle –

One of hope and helping!

Not everyone understands this –

But we are what we are.

We are stronger together for this.

Sherry – in the rising of the sun on the shore of OIB.

I hope this blog explains how we feel and think.

Papa’s World – Together – Life and Fun!

Our life together has been for decades and decades –

Involved both Dottie and Cindy.

I knew Dotie before we were married, and I attended her wedding to my long-time friend Jim!

We all grew up in Eldred, Pa.

Cindy knew Jim and Dottie before we were introduced to her and her husband, Buck, by Dottie and Jim.

This was all in the early and mid-80s.

We raised our children together –

Took vacations and traveled the world together.

Today, we still meet up several times a year, and we live 38 miles from Cindy and Buck!

TOGETHER – LIFE and FUN!

Cindy – Buck and Sherry –

Last year, on a trip to Florida with them.

The six of us are watching a Buffalo Bills game together.

TOGETHER – LIFE and FUN!

Before they could walk –

Tammy and Marcus with Taylor and Cassidy – THE TWINS!

Today – Taylor on the left and Cassidy on the right with Tammy!

They are now Sophomores in H.S.

Each is their own individual.

Cassidy does competitive cheerleading –

And H.S. cheer.

Taylor plays the violin and rides horses.

Cassidy chose not to continue the violin, and she was first chair.

Taylor sings and composes her own songs!

The twins are different –

But if I hear them talk when out of sight-

It is hard for me to tell who is who!

The same but so different.

We still keep in touch and meet up.

Long-time friends Nancy and John.

TOGETHER- LIFE and FUN!

Taylor was in her last performance in a play.

She loves to sing, dance, and act.

Papa’s World – Always together!

The path that we chose to walk has always been together-

Now there are times when she goes with the ladies –

Shopping – a movie that I do not want to see –

Playing games at the community center with the other ladies –

Things like that –

Me – sometimes golfing with friends.

I am not much into men’s games –

Or meetups!

That is just not me.

We have always done things together –

We enjoy each other’s company-

And now into our senior years –

We depend on one another.

On the beach –

We walk together!

We have toured the world together.

We are best friends.

Over twenty years ago, we reset our lives together.

Together, we read the research and selected a supplement we found to be a fit for us.

We both knew we had to protect our IMMUNE systems –

So we selected Juice Plus – a blend of fruits, vegetables, and berries –

In powder form, in capsules, or in gummies.

We never miss a day.

It has worked well for us –

Five years ago –

We built our final house.

We moved to a warmer climate –

Into Cameron Woods Community, Ocean Isle Beach – on the mainland.

We are about six miles from the border of S.C.

And actually spend part of our week in S.C.

We have now been married forty-four years –

Dating for one and a half years before that.

Our SENIOR YEARS are now upon us!

Our wedding vows- UNTIL DEATH DO US PART!

Papa’s World – Spending time together.

Our senior years are spent doing as many things together as we can.

Volunteering – here we are with some other folks from the Protection of Sea Turtles.

This day, a group of us volunteered for trash pickup along the streets of Ocean Isle Beach.

We spent about three hours on our assigned streets-

Then we, along with a hundred other volunteers-

Met back at the park, where they provided lunch and drinks for us.

We sat here on the stage and ate and talked.

From mid May to mid-October –

We are on the beach in some manner for the Protection of Sea Turrles.

This will be our fourth season of volunteering.

We also volunteer for our church for the Brunswick County Food Pantry.

This involves the second Saturday of every month –

Where our church operates the county food pantry.

We are there between 8am and 8:30 am.

We have 20 to 30 volunteers –

And I am usually assigned to direct parking.

Sherry works inside at produce, meat, eggs, or as a shopper who fills the cart with the supplies each family gets.

As a shopper, she wheels the cart outside to be loaded into the designated car.

Loaders perform this duty, and then she returns inside for her next order.

On the other assignments –

She works at an item storage spot and fills the order as the shopper wheels the cart by.

Outside- a volunteer directs the car to me-

I greet them and ask a few questions, and then instruct them to a spot and “BACK” in.

Many people have trouble backing into a spot –

And I help them.

I give them a number that they show on their dashboard-

And if they are unable to walk over to the sign-in station-

I give them a colored sticker that is placed on the windshield.

We have roving volunteers who will then come to the car and get them signed in.

I tell them when to go and sign in, and that someone will tell them when to go and pick up.

They remain in their cars and are loaded by volunteers.

We handle about 100 to 130 cars during the three hours we are there.

Most are seniors, and many can not walk far.

Many are families, and the total number of people runs between 250 and 275.

This is a service much needed in our county.

Other churches do the remaining Saturdays of the month-

And we are starting on Friday – 6pm to 8pm.

There are so many families.

For over twenty years, together we have made this our supplement of choice.

Aging as healthily as we can together into our senior years.

Together we walk the beach.

There are certain things that I do not do-

She has card-making, group chats, and women’s games.

But we golf together and with others.

We shop, and I drive.

We explore together –

We watch TV together.

We visit family and friends together.

Since this day – 6-25-1982 –

Our wedding day –

We have been together.
