Papa’s World – Good memories and thoughts.

Here is PJ ( Pam ), their dog, and Sherry,

and Bob ( my childhood buddy) –

They came to visit in their RV –

Staying at a campground

just a few miles from our home.

This day, we went to Sunset Beach –

To soak up some sun –

Pam had an injury to her Achilles –

So she sat in a chair-

while the rest of us walked to the NW end of the beach-

Right across the channel to OIB.

This is one of many times in the past half dozen plus years –

That they have visited us on their RV journeys!

Here we Kayak the marshes of the ICW!

We have many explorations of the area together.

And they have entertained making this area –

N.C. – S.C.-

an area they might just call “HOME BASE”!

Time shall tell –

But for now –

It is fun times spent rehashing our past!

Golfing has also become a pastime with us.

And some times the ladies take thrift shopping –

While Bob and I go golfing alone.

We played golf together in our early high school years.

Nothing special about our golfing game –

Just two old friends spending our senior golden years together once again

Many memories of growing up in a little town in NWPA –

Called “ELDRED”!

Thus, it once again after so many years –

Lends itself to forming new –

“GOOD MEMORIES AND THOUGHTS”!

Papa’s World – High School buddy – golfing!

Is it rare that you remain friends for over 60 years?

Grade school and then H.S. and beyond!

Bobby and I go back a lot of years –

But we lived far apart –

and in the main part of all those years-

seldom saw each other except for HS reunions!

Then – six years ago that changed.

He and his wife became RV’ers –

Traveling became a way of life –

and they would stop once a year –

and we would rehash old times –

and catch each other up on our lives.

It has only been the last four years or so –

that we started golfing together!

The four of us would go out –

once during their visits –

and then Bob and I would play another round.

We had played golf together back in our HS years.

Now – we look forward to just relaxing-

and talking on the course!

Here we are on the JONES course-

in Sea Trails –

just a few miles from our home.

The entire Sea Trails-

which has three eighteen-hole courses-

Is undergoing extensive renovations!

They have shut down the BYRD Course –

and remake the whole thing!

After that is done-

they will start the next one!

New homes –

and lots of condos going in!

Along with a convention center( already renovated)

and a large hotel and a tiered driving range.

They are making this a destination –

And will be a major attraction-

in the Myrtle Beach area!

Abundant wildlife –

The starter said –

“IF YOU THINK YOU SEE A GATOR – IT MOST LIKELY IS”!

This bad boy was by the cart path and I snapped a picture of it!

Old grade school and High School friends –

many – many years –

getting together to play golf –

Keeping that friendship alive!

HIGH SCHOOL BUDDY – GOLFING!

Papa’s World – Meet up with old friends at Inlet View.

We had old friends who checked into Waterway Family campground – we called the McBrides and we all met at Inlet View bar and grill.
INLET VIEW – on the ICW – outside of Shallott – N.C.

Paul and Janet Brown are from Eldred Pa. and I have known them

as we all graduated from the same H.S. – Otto-Eldred.

Paul – Sherry and I and his brother Jim all worked for American Olean Tile in Olean, N.Y.

Paul – Jim and I all played softball together in the mid-’70s.

Conversing in the parking lot – Paul and Buck – Cindy and Janet and Sherry.

Paul and Janet have known Cindy and Buck McBride for years and years – we all are old friends.

Trying to get a group picture while looking directly into the sun was not working out!

After dinner – we found a place to take a group photo –

but the bright sun was brutal!

Finally – a very nice lady who was standing on the top deck –

said she would come down and take the picture.

She walked all the way down from the third floor – bless her!

Paul – Janet – Cindy – Sherry – Papa – Buck

We have a core group of friends that go back to the late ’70s –

We try to get together over the years – now we live only 35 minutes from Buck and Cindy

and we try to play golf once a week with them.

Jim and Dottie are in Va. Beach and Paul and Janet are still in Eldred

but now are retired and RV in Florida.

They were kind to find a place nearby and camp for two nights

allowing us all to get together – we miss you, Jim, and Dottie!

Not saying goodbye – but until we meet again – old friends – retired – enjoying life to the plus.

Papa’s World – friends – the pier – Barefoot Landing – Crooked Hammock Brewery!

Next to last day – Papa Bob Pam Sherry – near their campground and RV. A visit to Apache Pier!

We had so much to pack in so little time – touring – seeing the house – Mother’s day – catching up – FRIENDS!

Their RV and campground was down the beach about a mile and one half.

They could see this pier from their beach so we decided to drive to it and just take a look around.

Just beyond these tall buildings – 21 to 25 years ago – Sherry and I spent I think three different vacations here!

We would walk up the beach and past this pier to the campground.

So we knew what was here and have many fond memories of her parents – sister and my sister and brother in law here. We also spent vacation time here with friends Steve and Elaine. Our friends from back home in WNY!

Bob and Pam – Bob and I went to grade school – middle school and high school together – life long friends – and got back in touch after one of our H.S. reunions – he had moved to New Hampshire away from Pa. and NYS. Keeping in touch is like normal best buddies do when life comes along – only seeing them at special times – a lot of years in between but memories and laughs renewed!

Here we are at The Crooked Hammock Brewery in Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach.

We have come to really like this place and Sherry actually likes some of the beer!
