Papa’s World – Decorating for Kentucky Derby party.

Our little community came together for a party!

KENTUCKY DERBY!

Kathy – Diane and Sherry did the main decorating.

Kathy – Sherry and Diane.

It was Kathy’s idea,

And they jumped in and helped!

The women all wore hats –

Dresses and the men some had straw hats –

and various forms of dress!

Diane purchased this at a thrift store and did the decorating.

For fun – everyone who wanted to –

Bought a horse out of a jar named.

That would be your horse for the race,

and the first three places paid.

The room was all decorated.

We have a beautiful community center –

And on the website,

It was announced several times with the date and time.

A bunch of tables for food and desserts –

Everyone brought something to eat.

You supplied your own drinks.

Chairs were arranged to watch the race on the TV.

We had so many people that a lot stood and watched.

They had seating for 25, but had more than that.

Here is the seating,

And in the far left back is the bar and kitchen with additional seats.

Paper plates, cups, napkins,

and utensils were donated and provided.

They made the decorations on the fireplace –

A fun time was had by all.

PAPA’S WORLD – DECORATING FOR THE KENTUCKY DERBY.

SHERRY – KATHY and DIANE!

Papa’s World – POSITIVE BLOG WRITING!

Taken almost five years ago –

Taylor ( who is now as tall as Sherry) and Bode.

This is when we lived in Ocean Keyes before our new home was built.

This is part of the huge complex-

Over 780 condos close to North Myrtle Beach –

There were six swimming pools –

A huge tennis court-

Numerous benches to sit and watch the Swans on the lake.

Here they are taking the half-mile walk to the beach,

sand, and surf.

We made this a daily walk for the nine months we lived there.

Most of the walk was within the resort.

A POSITIVE PICTURE OF A TIME GONE PAST!

Today, Taylor poses outside the barn where she works for free!

For over ten years –

She has trained to ride horses-

And does everything required to take care of them.

Her dream is to find a college with an Equestrian program.

Spending her free time working in the barn –

She loves it –

Thus, a POSITIVE WRITING OF HER DREAMS IN HORSE OWNERSHIP!

LOL – I need a sense of humor to golf!

Today, Bode – whom I think will be eventually the tallest of the three grandkids-

Stands on the cart path –

He has taken up golfing along with flag football and soccer.

Sports, I feel –

will have a POSITIVE IMPACT ON HIS LIFE!

Sherry and I are out on the golf course.

We try to play a couple of times a month.

Senior living in the South-

Warm most of the months-

We both do not like snow and ice.

Instead, blue skies and sunshine.

We have both of those here!

Giving us a POSITIVE OUTLOOK ON LIFE!

We maintain as much as we can on THE POSITIVE SIDE OF LIFE!

Papa’s World – Positive blogs!

Good morning –

Today – positive beginnings to every day!

Kindness and smiles are free!

Marley – Goldendoodle-

Belongs to our family in Leesburg, VA.

Always happy to see us-

Wiggling – licking –

A joy to be around!

Our granddaughter Taylor –

Who has trained Marley to do so many tricks and other things.

She has a way with animals.

Since she was four years old –

She has been involved with horses.

She now rides – jumps –

And her love of horses is so strong –

That she volunteers her time working in the barn-

Sweeping out stalls – Grooming the horses.

Her dream is to go to college, which offers equestrian studies!

A POSITIVE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

Papa and Bode –

The day we went to his school to have lunch with him.

A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE!

All those little things –

You do them right –

And the bigger things in life will excel!

Looking back to when they were little.

Papa’s World – Special pictures in memories!

We are very fortunate to have this building and pool –

As our Community Center!

And – it is but a short walk from our home –

Also, you can not see –

Our mailboxes are to the right, with a lane for parking!

Inside is a large meeting area with TVs, chairs, couch, dining room table,

and chairs.

Enough room and seating to hold a large group of people.

A propane fireplace –

A screened in room with six tables – teak wood- chairs and seating for about 30 folks.

Also – a work out room with machines – weights –

And full, clear windows overlooking this parking lot!

We have two pickleball courts –

And a large step-down pool with the deep end about five feet.

The area around the pool is fenced in, and entrance is with a card-

Each person who resides in the home – ADULT- has a card to swipe.

This card can also be swiped to gain entrance to the building.

The pool area is surrounded by tables with umbrellas and chairs.

Our community center is a source of pride, and inside is also a free lending book library.

O have donated many books to it.

SPECIAL PICTURES IN MEMORIES!

A very young TAYLOR with her mother –

First, learning to ride horses.

Her mother had to stand with her so she would not fall off.

Today, her love for horses has led to her riding each week.

On days she can not ride, she works in the stables.

Cleaning stalls and grooming the horses.

It is how she wants to spend her spare time-

No matter how cold or rainy it is!

From that little girl who could barely sit astride a horse –

To a young lady adapt at riding –

Taking care of them –

Leading out to pasture and back before dark

Cleaning the stalls and grooming them.

Taylor – doing what she loves – creating a lifetime –

SPECIAL PICTURES IN MEMORIES!

After showering and dressing –

The first thing I do every morning –

Is that one cup of coffee enough to get my day started?

Later in the mornings –

I may have one cup of Tea.

But it is that lone cup of coffee in the morning-

that I look forward to each day.

A CUP OF JAVA GETS ME ON TRACK FOR A SENIOR DAY OF RETIREMENT!

Proud of this young man – my youngest son – SHAWN.

Owner of his own insulation and auditing business for the State of Pa.

For major energy companies that provide energy for heating for the elderly.

He has contracts with both the State and those Energy companies.

In addition to his own companies-

He is a world-ranked pool player.

Winning many tournaments in both singles and team competion.

Many – Many times he has won his way to Las Vegas –

to compete amongst the best players in the country.

SPECIAL PICTURES IN MEMORIES!

Here is my oldest son, Troy,

on the left and Shawn.

Troy can and has built houses from the ground up

He can do it all!

My own father was the same way!

So very proud of him-

In great demand back in NWPA.

Hoping they can come down once again for a visit.

Papa’s World – Looking back – some memories.

Living in NVA for 20 years – we became Washington Commanders fans!

We lived five miles from their headquarters and practice fields!

Many times in the season –

I would take a half-day vacation and go to those fields!

I could see players and coaches up close.

These are memories I shall always cherish from the past!

Six years ago – the day Maddy signed her letter of intent – to play soccer at –

The University of Lynchburg!

In her career, she made the all-conference third teams –

All-conference second teams.

And in her final senior year captain.

They won their way into the NCAA nationwide tournament two out of the four years.

Memories that will last the rest of my life!

The day we took Bode and Taylor by Metro into D.C. –

And visited the museum and THE PEOPLE’S HOUSE!

A replicate of the nation’s WHITE HOUSE!

Here is Taylor sitting at the President’s desk –

And Bode and MORMOR at the chairs for visitors!

I am sure that as well as I –

they will have this as a lifetime memory!

The little girl who since she was three years old-

loves Horses!

Today – she spends all her spare time at the barn!

Taylor rubbed the horse down before going out to the corral.

She would do this every day if allowed.

Taylor – creating lifetime memories!

Before we moved South – we golfed locally –

It was not unusual to have deer on the course with us!

A lifetime memory!

Today we are living in our sixth home together –

The last three we have had built!

We are in the warmth of the South making dreams come possible.

A lifetime of memories with our last home –

Here we shall be –

making more memories!

Volunteering for Sea Turtle Protection on OIB.

A memory we shall have as we grow older!

We were married June 25th- 1982 –

Back then I played softball –

but to participate together –

We both started playing Volleyball – CO-ED!

This was a tough league of 16 teams.

Not your backyard volleyball –

but protect yourself from getting smashed in the face.

We finally won after five years of playing-

but never quite getting there!

Papa’s World – Taylors world of horses!

Taylor is at the barn getting a bit ready for her horse.

Ask her if she loves being in the barn and she says YES!

She rides once a week but any spare time she has –

She is at the barn – cleaning stalls – brushing down the horses!

Here she got the horse out of the stall, attached the bit, and brushed it down!

She loves this –

It doesn’t bother her with the smell or cleaning the stalls!

After placing the saddle on –

she walks the horse around the fenced-in yard.

She talks to the horse who has not been ridden in a couple weeks.

Soon – they trusted each other!

Now they walk as one – around and around the corral!

This went on for a good fifteen minutes!

Now it is the time she has been waiting for

The riding lesson –

walking and then trotting around and around and jumping!

Our granddaughter is a full-fledged horsewoman!

Taylor – her thoughts turn to the barn and the horses whenever she has free time!

Her first ride was when she was about four years old!

Someday she yearns to own her own horse!

Just another memory of PAPA’S WORLD –

my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog

Papa’s World – LITTLE TAYLOR loves horses – now BIG TAYLOR riding horses!

Our grandaughter Taylor with her mother – soon to be a teenager – she has grown up riding horses!

A beautiful young lady to be – she would clean stalls and groom horses every day if she could!

It all began with her – she could barely walk – yet she knew what she wanted and today she rides so gracefully – here her mother helps to steady her on her first ride!

Now she is a regular at the riding stable and volunteers to groom and take care of the horse’s stalls!

Tall in the saddle – little Taylor does not need any help – becoming an accomplished rider.

Her dream is to someday own her own horse – she is so graceful and an easy learner.

LITTLE TAYLOR LEARNS TO RIDE! PAPA’S WORLD – my site: livinglifedooingitmyway.blog

Taylor and her MORMOR ( Swede for grandmother) walking hand in hand – PRICELESS!

Papa’s World – Two years in a row – ” THE MIGHTY MACAW”

She had no idea – we were told as were her parents –

Taylor – eight years old –

was to be recognized in a assembly Tuesday !

Madison Trust Elementary School –

their school ensigma is THE MACAW !

And – each year

each grade will name students

and present them with a award –

The award is for achievement – helpfulness – kindness – respectful – patience

Sort of a GOOD CITIZEN AWARD !

Foe the second year in a row –

Taylor was called upfront –

and presented the award !

Taylor – on stage in front of the assembly – being presented the MIGHTY MACAW AWARD

She had no idea – and her third grade class has nearly 230 classmates !

Although they are twins –

they are like day and night !

Cassidy is the busy one –

always moving – doing – cartwheels – rollerblading

Taylor – she likes her alone time –

studying – reading – horses – animals.

Bode came to watch

She was so giddy – smiling – and surprised –

TWO YEARS IN A ROW !

Always that smile
Smiling

Her smile – her warmth – her always helping others.

She loves animals

I will always remember her

as the one who comes for a hug –

But also as the one who disappears –

to find her off somewhere alone –

Reading a book or writing a journal on horses !

Taylor loves riding

She is our little equestrian –

learning not only how to ride –

but care for them !

She writes books and journals –

researching – books from the library.

Her school essays are on horses.

Someday – I see her in competitions !

Always a smile – always horses

Yesterday she was recognized – walking upfront –

smiling – giddy –

” THE MIGHTY MACAW”
