Papa’s Worl – Go-cart racing – OIB Fish Company – Family fun times.

It was family time – a little bit of competition – racing GO-CARTS!

I sat this one out as I had a little kink in my back!

But – they all had a blast – round and round!

We found out later that the next day they were completing shooting a movie right there!

We had passed huge white tents being set up and there were flashing road signs – saying the movie set filming would be the next day.

Then I read in the news that they had already filmed at the track and were coming back to wrap it up!

The OIB FISH COMPANY restaurant – docks and boat landing.

Before the go-carts, we went to OIB FISH COMPANY to the top Tiki deck to have lunch!

And then down the stairs to the open-air bar to watch the boats coming and going.

Family fun time at the bar watching the boats and the ICW!

We packed as much exploring time along with the beach as we could.

Being this was not a whole week as the older girls – who are college students-

had to return for work.

But – we did do the beach every day – we took them all into North Myrtle Beach

Leaving so many things to do when they come back.

Papa’s World – relaxing and walking the beach – we have seemed to like one better than the other!

Although Ocean Isle Beach is a ten minute drive – we seem to be going to Sunset Beach more often!

This beach is a extra ten minute drive – 8 miles away.

The difference is one is commercial and the other residential.

One is not flat and the other is.

One is more calm than the other.

Both have piers – both have plenty of parking – at least we have had no problems.

The pier at Sunset Beach – a lot of people sit under it to get out of the sun.

And you can see how calm the water is here and the beach wide and flat at low tide.

You can wade out and only be waist high!

Ocean Isle Beach has bigger waves and the beach is up and down.

There is where the mini golf is – the community park with concerts.

Bars and grills and a community center on the beach with bathrooms.

Sunset beach is almost all beach houses and rentals – hardly any big buildings!

We do go to both – Ocean Isle Beach has a big Farmers market a block from the beach.

Sunset Beach has their market on the mainland side as well as their concerts are mainland.

I like the drive to Ocean Isle Beach better – easier to get to.

Ocean Isle has little shops – and easy to walk around.

Many side streets and channels with houses.

Sunset Beach has a marsh on the South end and is where the Kindred Spirit mailbox is.

With low tide – the beach is really wide.

PAPA’S WORLD – WALKING SUNSET BEACH , N.C.

Papa’s World – walking the beach – no buildings here – just wide endless beach – Cherry Point!

We decided for their last beach walk on a cold windy day –

to take them to the far end of Cherry Grove to a place the local’s call Cherry Point!

To get to the beach – you must park along the road and then walk through this covered path!

The path to the beach is overhanging tree limbs with lots of shrubs and bushes.

Once you walk through there – you are greeted to a wide expanse of beach to the left.

The right goes back toward the houses and pier.

The view to the left and almost low tide!

It was cold and windy – and we wanted to walk way out as it seemed at low tide you might be able to walk to the other shore.

Here you can see a few brave souls – walking – and the wind was really blowing!

Ella and Sarah – laughing and trying to stay warm in the blowing wind!

We walked maybe a half mile – and decided enough – it was just too cold and so windy!

One last picture with Ella – Debby Sherry and Sarah before heading back to the car.

I told Sherry – when it gets warmer and is low tide – we must come back and just see if we can walk across the bay!

Papa’s World – once again – Wicked Tuna – Myrtle Beach for a bite to eat!

Inside “WICKED TUNA” by the pier – Myrtle Beach , S.C.

We had been out shopping for furniture and were down in this area

by the Boardwalk on the Grand Strand.

We decided to stop back in –

and it was so windy and cold – we stopped our walk and went back to the car

and drove here instead of walking!

On a warmer day – some days are warm and coat less – others – you just do not want to walk!

We had purchased furniture and needed to plan our second stop!

We had been here before and enjoyed it!

When we went in – we were the only people there!

We had the whole place to ourselves!

The view we had from our table – the pier – deserted and no one on the beach!

A view of the marsh – reeds and water way.

We had passed the entrance dozens of times –

Sherry said we need to stop and see what is there!

So – on our way to our property – we stopped – just a few miles North of the border

of S.C. and N.C.

Across the marsh – a hole on a golf course.

We parked – and there were clean johnny on the spots –

benches and tables – covered area to sit and eat.

Swings for kids and numerous trail heads.

We thought – we need to bring the kids here when they visit!

We picked a trail that took us toward the ICW!

Wanting to see the water way and the boats.

A boat on the ICW goes by as Sherry watches.

There were piers to walk out on and decks to sit.

We had forgotten to pick up a map of the trails

so we selected one and off we went.

Had no idea where it would go – we were exploring as we do all the time!

Sherry about to follow the trail into the wooded area – many birds – saw no snakes or spiders or gators!

We continued on – checking our fit bits to see how far we had walked.

All the while staying on the path to the right as others branched off.

I could see across the marsh where we had started

and I could tell we were looping back toward the parking lot!

Papa’s World – Boardwalk – Myrtle Beach – S.C.

We decided to take a little side trip on our way to Costco!

Since neither one of ever remembered going to the Boardwalk

on the Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach –

We thought we would take our time

and follow the beach road from North Myrtle Beach

all the way down to the Boardwalk!

It had been almost 25 years since we vacationed in North Myrtle Beach

and – we were not disappointed!

We parked half way in between the two piers.

And then we walked toward the Northern Pier!

We entered the doors and went out to the open pier

where the fishermen were and the other tourist.

We had walked by numerous shops – places to eat –

a large volleyball complex with multiple courts

and a sand volleyball game going on –

two on two!

The boardwalk continued beyond that pier

but – we decided to return from our starting point

and then walk South to the other pier

about a mile distance between the two.

The walk back to where we parked the car

was on the boardwalk

but it changed to a paved walk – wide – and lined on both sides

with bushes – plam trees and shade and flowers.

It was not straight but wound from side to side

with benches in the shade.

We decided once we got to the second pier

we would look for a place to grab a late lunch

before we continued on our way to Costco.

We found that place by the pier itself –

actually looked like it was part of the pier

called “WICKED TUNA”

where we made our way to the top and had a great view of the pier

and the beach in both directions!

We had a great lunch sharing some appetizers.

We continued onto Costco – and vowed that when we have to make that trip again – we would include the Boardwalk and this place to sit and have lunch!

Papa’s World – Storms – causing the ever changing beach!

Good morning – before we walk the beach!

We have not had a really bad storm since we have been here!

It has rained hard once – the wind was somewhat strong once!

But – there have been storms way out on the Atlantic Ocean –

that have had a impact on the beaches!

You can see the effect of a storm out to Sea!

I have noticed the erosion of the beach –

the gentle slope is now much less

and it seems that the flat part of the beach

now extends further out!

Just the other side of this dune is almost gone – another big storm will most likely wash this away!
This pier looks new but is missing a section at the far end. I do not know when this happened.

The beach has changed since we first walked on it!

There are large tidal pools now when the tide goes out

that were not there before!

Maybe when we first walked – that was not the normal?

Where did this come from?

Storms out to sea – sending the huge waves pounding the shore!

At night and in the predawn

we can hear the surf –

One of the many storm drains from main street – we have seen them dig out with a back hole!
