Papa’s World – A visit to family – Lake Holiday.

Sarah, Debby, Maddy, and Ella,

the daughter and granddaughter,

are at home in Lake Holiday.

When we travel back to NVA –

One daughter and family live just outside of Leesburg, Va.

Here they are further North beyond Winchester, Va.

They do not live on the lake –

But a short drive to one of the three beaches.

They do have a boat –

and rent dock space for it.

Here is the fire pit in the backyard.

They love the outdoors –

every summer –

spend time at Raquet Lake –

in the far north of NYS!

Hiking – swimming – boating –

camping – an outdoor family.

Their yard reflects all of the above.

When he was young –

Bode – the only boy grandson –

adored Ella –

She was his idol and she took care of him whenever we were all together.

All during her soccer playing days –

Whenever he was at the games –

you could hear him shouting her name.

She went on to play at Randolf College –

and started as a Freshman-

Becoming team captain in her Sophomore season.

She even played against her sister Maddy –

who started

and was team captain –

For the University of Lynchburg.

The times we spend here are special.

We always try to split our time at home-

between the two houses.

Papa’s World – The Meyers family at Raquet Lake!

Bode – Cassidy and Taylor and the Meyers girls – Sarah – Ella and Maddy!

This picture is fitting because the Meyers girls love the water – and boats!

Today – they are older but still free spirits when it comes to camping – hiking and boating!

Every year since they were born – a trip to Raquet Lake in NYS Andrirondacks –

has been their annual vacation.

Here are some pictures of those times at the lake!

Maddy – mother Debby – father Mike – Ella and Sarah on Raquet Lake.

Canoeing – boat riding – hiking – outdoors – campfires – nature – swimming –

just a few things this family does together.

Debby – the solitude of nature among the rapids at or near Raquet Lake.

The mountains of NYS – the forests and the lakes are in thier blood.

Papa’s World – our memories from back in time!

We were married on June 25th. 1982 – yes – our forty-year anniversary is coming up!

Sherry and me.

We brought together two sets of children – her daughters and my sons.

Those were lean years – working and trying to stay ahead.

But we managed and survived.

In the late ’60s at the American Olean Tile Plant where I started on 6-5-67.

I worked for this company which later through transition became Dal-Tile.

We merged several times with other corporations and when I retired we were Mohawk.

After 47 1/2 years, I retired from a branch in Va.

As also did Sherry as she worked for them for 32 years!

I have no regrets as I worked many jobs in many locations in two states.

And that is where we met – all those years ago.

Along the way, we have made many friends – but we have really close friends.

Papa’s World-Growing up Eldred Pa. – part Six.

GOOD MORNING

Eldred – a small community situated by the Allegheny River

Among the rolling hills know as the old mountain range

” The Allegheny Mountains “

I wrote a blog a short while ago –

about the title before there was ” STAND BY ME “

There was Eldred –

where everybody knows your name.

Bob – me ( Tom ) – Greg – Mike – John – Sully – Gerry – Gus and Pat

We were friends – we were buddies –

we had each others back

And we once took a little trip down that river .

Our little group grew and grew –

We were part of a national group known as The Exployer’s !

Raising money for our trips –

Staying out of trouble –

Almost all of my buddies belonged

And the younger kids started to follow.

We played sports –

we were not into trouble –

we did not smoke – which back then was a big deal !

A few who did got kicked off the team.

We lived – played and grew up in a small Western Pa. town

close to the South Western New York border

where every one knew your name

In all the years before – and the years since –

The faces have changed –

the names also –

but to this day it remains
