One of my favorite things to do –

Is going shopping with Sherry –

At the “OUTLETS” –

in Myrtl Beach, S.C.

Here, I purchase a Starbucks coffee-

And find a place to sit in the sun-

Sip my coffee –

While people watching –

Until she finishes a certain area for shopping-

And then we move on to another area!

That way, I get to do what I want to do-

And she can shop to her heart’s content! LOL!

Cindy and Sherry –

Went to an antiques vendor fair in Myrtle Beach.

Just to see if anything caught their eyes!

It didn’t!

But they had a great day together while Buck and I watched TV at home.

Here, they took a picture together –

This picture was drawn by Cassidy when she was 11 years old.

When they were staying here for a week in Summer-

She just sat down at the kitchen island and drew this!

I had to frame it!

A bucket list item to see –

Walk through the “JUKE BOX” doors –

Into the WORLD OF SHAG DANCING!

This area is known as the “SHAG DANCING” capital of the world.

And has been for almost 80 years!

The dance is famous all over the world –

Just Google it and watch them dance!

Reflections on the “WALL” in D.C. –

Paul – Sherry and Jo –

Paul graduated from the same H.S. that Sherry did –

And Jo graduated from the same H.S. I did.

We have visited their home in Tuscon –

and they visited our home in Brambleton, Va.

Here we are on one of our trips into D.C.-

We spent days walking the city.

Sherry and Jo to her left in front of the famous unfinished statue of great women.

It is unfinished until we have a woman President.

Great friends whom we visit when we can and they in return visit us.

FRIENDSHIP MEMORIES!

Jo – Sherry and Paul – “REFLECTIONS”!

Bob – Papa – Pam and Sherry.

This friendship goes back to grade school with Bob and Myself.

We played sports together – and stayed at each other’s houses.

Drank beer together – roamed the streets of Eldred after curfew.

Today, they stopped in for a week while they were RVING –

across the country.

FRIENDSHIP MEMORIES!

Jimmy – grew up in the same town as I did.

We played softball together –

He worked at the TILE PLANT the same as I did.

We both transferred to the South in the same company.

He to Va. Beach and me to NVA.

Dottie – taking the picture – married to Jim –

I attended their wedding before I met Sherry –

Also, Cindy was friends with Dottie and –

later we moved and became neighbors with her.

Sherry – Buck and Cindy – married – and Dottie –

Our longest and closest friends.

Blessed to have them in our lives.

We have traveled the World with Buck and Cindy.

Our new friends we have met here-

in Cameron Woods Community.

Daine – Marcea – Bill – Ken – Mary Lou and Sherry.

We have been fortunate to meet people in this new location.

Papa’s World – Living life in pictures of Memories!

For us – it all started on 6-25-1982 –

The day we were married.

Combining two sets of children –

Sherry’s two daughters –

and my two sons who stayed with their mother.

Weekends were full of living out in the country –

Campfires – sled riding down the 1/10 mile driveway.

Taking weekend trips camping –

blending the two families while working full-time jobs.

Sherry and her two daughters – Debby on the left – and Tammy on the right.

Both girls married and between them –

five granddaughters and one grandson.

Debby’s three girls are all adults now.

Maddy graduated from college nearly two years ago.

Ella graduates from college this year.

Sarah graduates from H.S. this year.

Tammy had twin girls –

they both are 14 years old.

The first boy is Bode – who is ten years old.

My two boys are with their partners and family.

Troy – with the beard – is the oldest.

His partner is Andrea –

He has no children and still lives back in NWPA.

The man can build a house from the ground up – everything!

Shawn with his wife Trisha and her daughter Autumn.

He has his own business –

He partners with Power companies and the state –

In energy efficiency for the Elderly –

Both auditing and insulation sides to his company.

He has two sons – Ryan and Dillion –

Both live in other parts of the country.

Here we are with Pam and Bob-

Bob and I went to grade school and high school together.

For the past six years, they have been retired and on the road in an RV.

Stopping each year for a weekly visit-

rehashing old times – playing golf –

Decades and decades of life shared from little kids to now seniors!

The grandkids along with Maddy’s boyfriend – Kendrick.

Moving South in 2020 –

We left behind all the grandkids in NVA.

But – they all have been to see us numerous times and we go back to NVA-

Life moves on and with it creates memories!

Ginger and Sherry –

Became fast friends back in NVA.

Today – her husband Jason and her –

live just outside Leland, N.C. –

close to our other longtime friends Cindy and Buck.

We golf with both couples.

They moved from NVA in the past year.

We will be making more memories together!

While TIME is like a RIVER of WATER –

Creating memories in pictures and this blog –

allows for family – friends and future generations –

to read and see what our life together has garnered.

The beginning goes all the way back to 6-25-1982-

I do not watch “NEWS PROGRAMS”!

I find them to be slanted one way or the other.

I read – and I tend to see the articles before I read them if they are one way or another.

I sort my reading –

I am interested in opposite views so I can determine what I believe to be fact.

COMMON SENSE guides me more often than not!

Our life revolves around the above.

We volunteer – we help others when we can.

Our church is important to us.

Our family is equally important.

We gather friends of different points of view –

But we also do not discuss those views.

Friendships are best when Politics –

and religion are best kept to themselves.

This is very true –

Happiness is your awareness.

Surround yourself with people who tend to spread joy!

Being thankful for all that you have –

And spend time with family and friends!

Have a sense of humor –

Looking at oneself –

and enjoy the smile and funny thoughts!

We keep a positive outlook – We try to do as much together as we can.

Our life down here on the border of N.C. and S.C. –

is where we choose to be.

Our senior years are more comfortable here in the warmth that it provides us.

Papa’s World – Extended friends long weekend!

FRIENDS – for decades –

getting together – playing golf – bantering –

and just generally enjoying each other’s company.

SIX of us are from WNY and NWPA –

all living within miles of each other –

three of us grew up in the same little town.

Four of us became friends in Va. Beach –

and now six of us all live in N.C.

Always it seems smiling –

But ready to put the dagger in on the golf course! LOL

They barter for “STROKES” and then beat us!

I keep telling JIMMY – NO STROKES!

But – this barter is all part of the fun-filled golfing for two days!

Warm weather, white clouds,

and good friends make for a fun weekend!

We have made so many memories –

both as a family and –

Where we have lived –

Four states – and six houses!

Living day to day in the early years –

Working paycheck to paycheck

Taking the kids on picnics –

Visiting family.

All the while making memories!

Our thoughts then-

and as they are today –

FAMILY – making the most of what we had –

FRIENDS – They have been a lifetime for us –

remaining after all these years.

THOUGHTS – dreaming – reaching –

We live our lives –

and always stay the course together.

The tradition of FAMILY continues after a break from the Pandemic.

Another Memory made –

Another outing taken –

And today we move on –

To make plans-

Another memory!

Today this blog reflects the times of the Past – Present and hopefully the Future!

HOPE – HAPPINESS – and GRATITUDE –

For the MEMORIES and GOOD TIMES WE HAVE MADE TOGETHER!

Papa’s World – Today is a new day!

At this point in our lives –

we look forward to understanding others-

as much as we can.

The world of today is filled with so many ups and downs –

But – we try to stay neutral –

Helping out as best we can –

Staying calm in a sea of humanity.

“WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS”!

Family – friends – neighbors – community –

All have an effect on our outlooks of life.

Social media –

I try not to let that bother me –

even though I do not understand some people’s craziness!

Hatred has a way of burning the pages.

But – we tend to stay the course –

Giving – Kindness – Smiles – Helping –

I would much rather do that –

Then, I want to remit –

to all the awful stuff people are posting.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT – BEING SENIOR IS EVEN SHORTER!

Every day we awake –

is a new day to make a small difference.

I hope this blog helps others to think of better times –

and try to make each day a better life-

for those less fortunate,

A kind gesture – a helpful hand –

A smile or comment of Have a great day!

Open a door or hold a door.

Cassidy and Taylor – when they lived with us between houses!

I think back to those times –

and how much gratitude we have to have been able to share

times like this are a picture –

and priceless memory!

They were always dressing up in costumes – playing house –

To see them once again brings a tug to my heart!

Ella and Maddy –

Oh, how they have grown and prospered.

Today Ella is 21 and Maddy is soon to be 24!

The BIG sister is now the LITTLE sister as Ella is 5’10”!

One more year of college for her-

and she will be teaching PHYS ED to young children!

Maddy is a Scientist-Geologist for a major environmental nationwide firm!

Here again are memories in a picture.

The main street where I grew up as a child –

middle of the picture toward the top –

a flag is waving and a green shingled roof is visible –

that was my home –

and today it still is in the family as my great-niece lives there –

85 years in my family!

A small town in NWPA –

on the NYS border called Eldred.

Many fond memories of that street and after H.S. –

I rented an apartment above the Western Auto–

next to the Post Office-

with the two flags on the left side of this picture for over five years!

Here again, are memories in a picture!

The day we were married 42-plus years ago on June 25th. 1982!

Seems this was only yesterday-

yet here we are all these years later.

Our life has taken us from WNY – to NVA – to S.C. – to now N.C.-

in those 42-plus years.

Living our retirement in Cameron Woods Community in OIB, N.C.

Today we are a destination point for our families –

for some it is a very long 14-hour or more drive –

for others, it is 6.5 to 7.5 hours.

But that makes for new pictures and new memories to be preserved!

Sarah – left front –

with the other granddaughters – now almost 18 years old –

funny and very helpful –

always lending a hand –

always a smile –

and sharing my interest in all things Paranormal!

The little girl here is all grown up and like Ella – is almost 5’10” tall!

Sarah – a beautiful young lady now –

full of spirit and loves classic rock songs –

Memories come flooding back when you see a picture!

“OMG – I completely forgot that!” when viewing a picture!

Yet – there it is in a picture!

After raising our children –

it was on to the next memorable part of our lives!

Being a grandparent to five granddaughters and one grandson!

We also have two grandsons from my youngest son –

but they live far away –

and just do not have much contact with them –

but – we would love to have them visit.

Watching the grands grow up –

playing soccer – gymnastics – horseback riding –

parts in plays – flag football – swimming – academics –

vacations – the whole interaction is priceless!

We are a close-knit family – her mother – GIGI – is now gone but never forgotten.

The Swedish genes from her are passed on down –

from mother – to daughter – to daughters to grandkids!

Our memories are there –

but seeing them come alive in a picture is –

well PRICELESS!

My blog is sort of a Journal –

a place for future generations to visit –

read and see our lives unfold!

I wish I had something like this from my ancestors –

but mine are mostly memories –

passed down by word of mouth!

The epitome of my life is to leave pictures of memories –

To further enhance the generations to come –

of who – what and where we came from.

My hope is someday –

someone else will take up where I leave off!

Papa’s World – More memories of our life!

Our life together began prior to our marriage on 6-25-1982!

We dated for 1 1/2 years – we each had two children.

Her two girls – Debby and Tammy – and my two sons Troy and Shawn.

She had custody of the girls and my boys stayed with their mother-

But – weekends were for adventures – not overly costly – but what we could provide.

Picnics – state parks – camping – campfires on our home to be in the country!

It was a time of adjustment – both for the children and for us!

We decided to get married after our divorces were final.

In the picture above are our oldest friends we have had as a couple.

I knew Jim and Dottie who in turn knew Cindy and Buck.

Then after five years of marriage – we sold the country house and moved closer to the school –

We were neighbors with Cindy and Buck – we had seen them at events with Jim and Dottie and we became fast friends!

In the mid-90s – they moved to N.C. – all six of us still remained friends –

We would vacation together with Jim and Dottie and their children

and would visit Cindy and Buck in N.C.

Then our children were all grown up and we were empty nesters.

We sought out transfers – eliminating some and applying for others.

We ended up in Northern Va. – within the company – and retained all of our service.

Some years later – Jim and Dottie transferred to Va. Beach – Jim with the same company as us –

and Dottie into the school system.

All the while – we all continued contact with one another and soon –

every four months or so-

would take turns to host!

We have maintained a friendship for over 40 years!

Now today at last we are all retired – and still we get together –

laughing – games – golfing – seeing shows and at each other’s homes.

Sherry and I moved from NVA to the border of N.C. and S.C. –

and Jim and Dottie from Va. Beach to Edenton, N.C.

Life has continued – friends have continued – and retirement is grand –

And new memories are being created –

MORE MEMORIES OF OUR LIFE – PAPA’S WORLD – LET THE GOLFING BEGIN!
