Papa’s World – The walk through – pushed up!

It was Thursday – 6-25-20 – almost 4 PM. – we had to stop at Harris Teeter.

That was the moment Sherry got the text!

From our real estate rep.

” THE BUYERS WANTED TO DO THE WALK THROUGH AT 9:30 AM.”

Instead of Monday – it would be the next day!

We had less than 17 1/2 hours!

Now did we panic – I did but my stable other half

remained cool – calm and collected!

“Okay – we will do this – and by 8:00 AM. – we will be done”!

That is when we went into over drive!

We had just made our next to last trip to our daughters house.

Taking most of our clothes – shoes etc.

We knew we had one more trip to the storage unit.

The final load would be our day to day things.

That – I had hoped – would take one trip!

The biggest problem – it was our wedding day – 38 years ago!

And we had planned to go out for the first time in 103 days!

A actual sit down dinner – as we are now able to do that!

Well – we shall see – but first – we can do this!

And then if we have time – we will go she said!

And we did it! We finished packing up !

Loaded the car and made that final trip to the storage unit!

She texted our daughter – we will be staying Friday night

instead of Sunday night!

Now it is around 2:45 am. I woke up –

after a little over five hours of sleep!

I am down stairs – first cup of coffee done.

I look around – we will strip the bed – and pack the car.

Then – the final clean.

It will be done by 8:30 am.

And we will be on our way to our daughters house!

Oh – I forgot to mention – I had to mow the lawn!

My plan had been to do it Thursday evening and it was long

with all the rain and hot sunny days! DONE!!!

This will be my last blog from our home.

The house will be empty except what they purchased

plus numerous other household goods we left.

Another chapter has come to a close – the book remains.

We are living as my blog reads –

Only – she has stabled my life – cool – calm & collected!

WHERE FRIENDS MEET THE FAMILY!

Papa’s World – finally – we have all our things in storage in Ocean Isle Beach!

We made a trip back North to NVA!

To make arrangements to move what is left of our belongings to Ocean Isle Beach

to a storage unit we rented some 3 miles from the new house being built!

That way – if the build goes beyond our lease date –

we have a place to store items and a place to stay with friends if needed!

Papa – waiting for the unloading to begin – a lot of stressful thinking off my mind!

My son in law handled the storage unit up North

and two days later we met the crew at the storage unit here.

MY GUYS MOVING – a shout out to them – they were very professional!

All of this – the move South – saying goodbyes – finding a place to build

It is a adventure – but nothing new – we have been this way all our married lives together.

We sold most of our furniture and made dozens of trips to Salvation Army- here is what is left!

Four thousand pounds!

That is what we moved to here.

We have now purchased almost all of our furniture to go with the new house.

This here is mostly personal stuff – things that are family!

Papa’s World – lessons in life

Here we are – just a few days away from packing up

and leaving for our five month rental of a condo

in North Myrtle beach!

That has gone by so fast!

We have been living with our two daughters

and their family’s

going back and forth.

We have also been traveling and seeing friends.

Our lives from the past fourteen years

have changed in dramatic form!

We sold our home – most of the furniture

rented a storage unit for mostly personal things

and set our sights on going further South

To explore our options

NO MORTGAGE NO TAXES NO HOA FEES

In other words – we are vagabonds – not quite homeless

and searching for what we want to do next!

Grand children minus one in college

We will miss them – but – we are free to travel back and forth

and we will see them as often as we can.

We have purchased a new car – after seven years and 126,000 miles

So we made the change – pandemic and all.

It was time – the housing market had rebounded

We do not know what the future holds

But – now – at our age – is the right time.

It will not be easy for them

as they both followed us here to NVA 21 years ago

But – we promise to be back often.

And now you will have a place to vacation to come to.

The Sun sets on this part of our lives

But begins with a Sunrise on the next part.

Remember the good times

and think of the memories we shall make in the future

We will once again begin new lessons in life

and those lessons will include all of you

Papa’s World – looking forward – vagabonds!

This move has gone easier than I thought it would!

We had to go back to the old house to pick up mail

that somehow did not get forwarded.

A long time ago in Williamsburg Va.

Sherry asked me “Do you miss it”?

No – I said – we spent 14 years here –

and the thing I miss the most is the yard

and all the trees and bushes I planted.

And the other thing is the walking trails!

We had almost 18 miles of walking trails!

Those I miss as I look around driving through the neighborhood.

The thousands of times we walked that sidewalk or that road

to get to the paths.

To walk we never needed to drive anywhere!

Or to ride our bikes!

It was all there!

At a conference for The Juice Plus Company

We always traveled out of state –

we have many friends across the nation.

So – now we have no ties to a home!

And we have plans – five months in North Myrtle Beach

WHY?

Because we want to explore our options

just to see if we like that area!

We also want to check out the Va. Beach area and into N.C.

I am waiting to see how the packages will work

at our new address! LOL!!!!

We will meet up with our oldest friends –

We will explore their area.

But for now – like the song says

“NO SHOES – NO SHIRT – NO WORRIES”!

“NO MORTGAGE – NO TAXES – NO HOA”!
