Papa’s World – Lutheran’s can Jazz it up !

Sunday – we had a surprise – we knew our little grand kids were going to sing –

but we didn’t know it would be with a drum and brass – guitars and the entire adult choir !

Music is essential in my opinion

We had searched for 7 years after we moved South –

for a church –

And we found one in Community Lutheran Church of Sterling Va.

Music has become a very big part of our two services each Sunday.

Our three little grand children have become a part of that music –

Even four year old Bode who can not read –

will memorize the words!

Community Lutheran Church of Sterling

Our choir director Jennifer Quoines –

leads all aspects of the music department .

Under her direction – we have been blessed each and every Sunday –

And these are just normal every day folks –

who she has managed to get to sing in English –

Russian and other languages !

We are a congregation that welcomes many to come through our doors –

COMMUNITY is the place of worship for the community –

And a place of comfort – safety –

Many out side groups use our space –

When we found Community – we found HOME –

When our grand kids were born – they also found a home.

So – on Sunday – we sat and listened – not once but twice – for both services

It was that inspiring – and the kids also sang for both services –

I hope you enjoy the video and song as much as we did –

It is a little long but oh so well done.

Today I share our HOME away from home –

Just another day in my life – “PAPA’S WORLD “

Papa’s World – sometimes – in a storm – you take shelter- other times – you just ride it out – we look upward and beyond.

Storm clouds – we keep the faith

In 1999 – we took a chance – and we both transferred from SWNY state to NVA with the company we had worked for – taking all of our time and benefits with us. It was to us a Leap Of Faith – leaving behind security and friends and family.

The storm was brewing – we steadied our life

But – excitement also was in the air – we left our little church behind – put our faith in God’s hands – and ventured South – from rural farm – country – to city life – right smack in the middle of Alexandria Va. A town of less than a thousand to a city of more than a million. ( D.C. ) area.

Our new home – after 8 years of searching – Community Lutheran Church

We searched for eight years – almost every Lutheran church in the area – finally finding Community Lutheran Church in Sterling Va. This was the church our daughter – Tammy – married Marcus in and was his home church and that of his family. We had found a home.

It has now been twelve plus years – and even though the storm has ceased – we find comfort in walking through those doors – open arms and friends. Truly a Community !

Today our faith in humanity rests with in these walls.

In today’s World – our faith provides us with comfort – and also the outreach in the community. We saw this 12 years ago – and it is us. When we left – we did not know where we would worship – but it is here – all are welcome – service to the community and other religions – all faiths – we found a home among the brewing clouds – just as today the clouds are around – we maintain our faith and our church.

Passing it on to the next generation

And we are able to share that with the next generation – after all – that is but one facet of life – the here and now – #livinglifetotheplus – kids are free – free to see the community of church.

Family

Family – friends – storms may brew – but life together forms a bond – one that comes together in our new life so far away from back home – we found a new home – Community Lutheran Church – Sterling Va.

I hope this gives insight into dramatic moves – ones that up root your lives – ones that cause you to search and find your new roots – God Bless !

Papa’s World – What Community means in Community – church

Sherry and Taylor
walking to Community
Lutheran Church

I sat in the Narthex – waiting for a young man –

Who would speak to the congregation on how our church

has impacted his young life.

I greeted him as he passed through and went outside

as if he was not sure quite what to do – the first service had started

In a email I had told his person of contact

He would speak at the end of the first service

and the beginning of the second service.

We went inside and found seats in the back –

Then it was time for him to speak –

He had told me that 2 or 3 minutes – the time he was to speak –

Was not nearly enough time – he could go on for hours !

You see – our church is a outreach church –

In the Community – in the area and beyond – Rwanda.

The young man spoke from his heart – no notes –

How when he walks through these doors twice a week –

He is safe – he is home – he is with people who love him.

Our lighted tree
in the circular drive
for Christmas

The young man described his lows and highs –

In the Granger room where they meet

and in the fellowship hall where they gather.

All in Community Lutheran Church – his safe place.

He has been sober for over a year – he is once again felt wanted.

And also during the week.

paying all their costs – and then two more are selected.

Donating money for buildings –

watching the increase in students

where genocide wiped out almost all adults.

Pastor Annabelle

And then each Sunday – the collection of LOOSE CHANGE

into the bucket –

allowing for Community Lutheran Church

to write a check last week
