Papa’s World – Two new Swans – they just show up!

Taken from our Lanai – they seem to hang out now at our end of the lake!

The three Swans that were here first are gone – so we are told.

Seems the Male chased one and in doing so – at another pond –

It somehow broke it’s neck!

Then they found one that had been bitten by a snake!

The third – we just do not know and we were told this by a couple who live here!

These two were reintroduced by Wildlife management

we were also told!

The Swans come and go – but lately have been staying here.

I have watched them fly in and land –

right across the view we have on the fourth floor!

I have also watched them take off –

and fly down to the other end of the small lake.

It is a very loud noise as they beat their wings and take off!

I watch them sleep on the banks during the day in the sunshine.

And – in the moon light at night see two white shapes floating just below us!

There are other groups of water fowl

Different types of Ducks – Geese –

Birds from the Ocean a half mile away!

The view everyday from our Lanai!

But – I love the Swans the most!

Papa’s World – the first household items that we could carry – and she is named Polly – The Pelican!

Good day everyone!

We have been furniture hunting – the whole house – as we have almost nothing!

We sold it all – 98 % of it – to the folks who bought our home!

While it has been somewhat stressful for my wife –

and me being the one who does not like to shop-

I AM LOVING THIS!

Another beautiful sun rise!

Yes – that is right! When we usually go shopping – I tend to find a place –

and sit and watch people!

Maybe with a cup of coffee or a bottle of water.

I find people interesting.

You can almost tell who they are by just observing!

So – here I am – looking at furniture – and I actually like doing this!

That is completely out of norm for me.

And has turned very stressful for my wife.

But -as of this writing with hoping 3 1/2 months to go to closing

The middle of May – I can say we have now completed 95 % of what we need!

We have one sun room to finish and some end tables!

There – right in the middle opposite the front door is the sun room!

We have ended up buying from three different stores –

with what will be three different deliveries!

And I still have to get our items we have in storage delivered to N.C.!

But – we were able to hand carry three items back to the car and then back to the Condo – in Ocean Keyes!

One table lamp – one floor lamp and meet POLLY THE PELICAN!

Our theme is going to be somewhat beach like –

since we will be only four miles to Ocean Isle Beach and six miles to Sunset Beach!

All in N.C. between Calabash and Shallotte.

We contacted the three little ones and they – ( CASSIDY) came up with the name for the Pelican.

You see – there was a smaller version already in the condo-

and I had told them I named it RALPH! LOL

They thought that to be funny!

Papa’s World – Swans – they come and go – and bring joy and smiles for us!

We never know when the Swans will show up – first there were three – now there are two – you look outside and there they are.

I have seen them fly in one time – I have seen them take off and fly to the other end.

But I have never seen them fly off and leave!

But – when they are here – I find myself often glancing out of the lanai

searching for them cruising around –

or up on the bank – at the foot of the next condo!

I wonder to myself – what happened to the third one?

When they first appeared – there were three – and the big one would lead the other two around.

Then one day two disappeared and the one would just sort of hang out by itself

in the area all three would be.

After a week – I watched as the two flew in –

right outside the lanai – so close I felt like I could touch them.

And they landed just short of the fountain you see here.

The third hurried over to them!

Here they are right below the lanai

The last several times – they all left and only two have returned.

I believe they are a pair – the third – I do not know – but it was as if –

it was always leading and protecting them.

Back when all three were here – the one to the left would chase the geese away!

Now – we only ever see the two!

But – we enjoy them all the same!

There are times in you r life this happens – but there are times in your life that this is a cherished memory!

We are blessed – we have a lot of friends – some older than the others –

And when you managed to meet up –

That makes a memory that you look back on and smile!

PAPA & SHERRY

During our trip to Florida last Feb. we made a date to meet up with a couple of the oldest friends I have.

Freddie and Lynda and I go back to the ’70’s –

Fred and I graduated together so I guess that puts us back to the ’60’s!

When I introduced Sherry to them – they hit it off and you can tell

they still do!

Fred was one of my three best friends in H.S.

CAN YOU IMAGINE – all these years and still laughing

even if years go by and not seeing each other!

Music is top of the list with these friends – singing – tipping a few drinks – and shots! LOL

We have a core group of friends – those that we try to get together with several times a year.

We all lived near each other before we all moved South.

Except Mike and Carol who still live in the old hood!

Cindy – Buck – Dottie – Mike – Sherry – Carol – Jim

Mike and Carol bought a house on the lake Chatauqua in Western New York

and invited us all for a long weekend.

They have extended the invitation once again for next Summer!

Boating – boating and more boating in their beautiful new boat

that fits all of us plus room to spare!

Old friends – new memories – fun – laugh – CAN YOU IMAGINE!

Sherry PAPA Pam ( PJ) Bob

Bob is one of my three best friends from H.S. – he stayed at my house and me at his.

He ate dinner with us and I ate dinner with him.

We played sports together – and then – lost contact as he moved to N.H.

Later in life he remarried and we connected once more.

Now Sherry and Pam talk on the phone and we make plans of meeting up!

Which before we came South- we met up in Berkley Springs.

Pam had a misstep and injured her achilles

causing her to have surgery

So as right now – we do not know when we shall once again see them.

But friendships exist through time and miles – memories created –

CAN YOU IMAGINE!

Papa Sherry Elaine Steve

We played volleyball in a league with them during the mid ’80’s!

We golfed with them all the time!

We watched their children grow up and they ours!

We went on vacations to North Myrtle Beach together!

And they are alwys in our minds – planning to get together.

They were the first to come to D.C. to explore!

These are our oldest friends – we have made new friends – life is memories made and memories to be made!

Papa’s World – When Swans come for a visit!

I saw a child in a stroller – sitting and gazing

Her mother had stopped

and they were watching the White Swans

as we drove our car through the gate

of the beach side entrance.

You can see the Swans – Mallards and in the top right corner – the wheel of the stroller

We talked to the mother as that child gazed entranced

sitting motionless

watching the graceful three Swans

Suddenly a big Mallard came too close to one of the females

The Big male Swan rose up and beat its wings as its

head and neck came quickly forward toward the Mallard.

The baby never flinched – just watched in awe as the Mallard

turned and swan away.

The mother somehow knew how the Swans just appeared overnight!

She said the state runs a wildlife management program

Where Swans are placed into a enviroment

conducive to their lives.

This is what happened here

They were placed and now they cruise from one end to the other

One half mile in one direction.

Here they are just outside our top floor Lanai

Our condo sits in the opposite direction of where we saw the mother.

I have seen them going back and forth all day long.

People are watching them paddle about –

some are feeding them bread

Sherry looked it up and it said this was okay

it was better if it were a bit soggy

also lettuce leaves

They graze the pond bottoms near the shore lines.

I have watched them swim toward this fountain

and all of a sudden they start flapping their huge wings

and a very loud noise erupts as they tread water

and take off in flight

never going much higher than 10 or 15 feet

above the water – to gracefully cruise into the

bay where we saw the mother and child.

For now they are here

I hope they remain

I hope they mate and hatch little ones

just as the little child gazed at their graceful

floating in the water.

I can imagine a line of little ones following these three.

Papas World – adventures of the homeless.

We have started on our journey of being without home ownership!

We were invited to spend a long weekend –

at a house on a very long lake in Western New York State.

It would be a weekend with friends – and a little R&R.

The view of the lake and boat was fantastic.

Speaking of the boat – we had eight people and everyone had a seat.

With a couple more seats available!

The lake is a natural one – 27 miles long!

And it seemed in the total of 8 hours we were on it

we about covered every inch of it!

The house was beautiful – views everywhere.

It was a beautiful lakefront home with dock and boat lift.
