Papa’s World – Swans – they come and go – and bring joy and smiles for us!

We never know when the Swans will show up – first there were three – now there are two – you look outside and there they are.

I have seen them fly in one time – I have seen them take off and fly to the other end.

But I have never seen them fly off and leave!

But – when they are here – I find myself often glancing out of the lanai

searching for them cruising around –

or up on the bank – at the foot of the next condo!

I wonder to myself – what happened to the third one?

When they first appeared – there were three – and the big one would lead the other two around.

Then one day two disappeared and the one would just sort of hang out by itself

in the area all three would be.

After a week – I watched as the two flew in –

right outside the lanai – so close I felt like I could touch them.

And they landed just short of the fountain you see here.

The third hurried over to them!

Here they are right below the lanai

The last several times – they all left and only two have returned.

I believe they are a pair – the third – I do not know – but it was as if –

it was always leading and protecting them.

Back when all three were here – the one to the left would chase the geese away!

Now – we only ever see the two!

But – we enjoy them all the same!

Papa’s World – Heritage Reserve with the grand kids – hiking!

Bode – walking into the Heritage Reserve – Cherry Grove – S.C.

The little guy learned that not hiking is in the mountains like he thought!

Crossing streams or climbing rocks – that is all he had ever done on a hike

Showing him nature – the marsh – water – sand – scrub trees –

He learned that there is more to this Earth – hoping to bring him back

in warm weather as we were told you could see “GATORS” then!

They were excited – walking into the trees on the sand path –

looking for birds – snakes – spiders

hearing the sounds and the marsh views!

Papa’s World – Hiking through Vareen Memorial Gardens with family!

We had a fine day to be out and about – so we decided to show them some nature

As they are all about the outdoors!

We went back to Vareen Memorial Gardens –

just before you cross the state line into N.C. in Little River S.C.

Ella Sarah Sherry Sarah is growing up so fast – at 14 she is catching up to both Sherry and Ella!

Across the marsh and over the tidal canals –

at low tide – does not look so scary when empty!

Sarah and Ella who is almost 5′ 9″ tall!

We entered the trees and brush along a sand pathway – trail.

We had been here a couple times before

bringing family to explore and see the ICW and the beauty of a pristine nature walk.

The girls loved this as did Debby who is all about the outdoors and hiking!

We soon entered the trees and bush growth

it was shaded in here and I think would be welcomed in the S.C. heat of Summer!

One last walkway before entering the pine and cypress trees!

The path is marked – and branches off in all directions!

Respite from the hot sun!

A shaded walk – can be a couple miles if you select the right path

We choose the shorter route – we had some more places to show them!

WE WILL BE BACK someday we told them!

Papa’s World – A visit by the Jones – family time and exploring!

We had visitors for the weekend – from N.C. around three hours away.

The little ones were so excited – to finally be able to go somewhere

all due to the pandemic.

We tested – they rested and everything was good.

We only had one full day to explore – so we took them to Vareen Memorial Garden.

To hike and gather shells.

We also hit the beach for a short walk but it was windy and cold.

Searching for shells along the ICW – they even felt the water! LOL

PAPA’S WORLD Next blog – MAKE A WISH – FAMILY JONES!

Papa’s World – Barefoot Landing – Playground – grand kids!

One of our favorite places to go and walk & show visitors –

Is Barefoot Landing – maybe 4 or 5 miles from where we are staying!

Walking around with the little ones –

all the while they are eagar to get to the playground –

to get that energy all bundled up out!

All three in their happy place – and now 450 miles away – “when we come back MorMor – can we go to the play ground”?

They loved it here and even made some friends who they will never see again!

Playing tag – up and down and all around for a hour or more!

This huge old live oak tree – was moved here and saved from a parking lot 800 feet away!

I found that to be awesome – to move and save this over 200 year old oak tree.

And to build a playground around it!

We teach them about nature – walking the paths and trails!

TAG YOU ARE IT! and so it goes – not once but twice we brought them here –

and if they had it their way – we would of been here all day- everyday!

But now – it is time to move on – explore and see the boats and ICW!
