Papa’s World – Last full day – SAC TOWN – RIVERBOAT !

GOOD MORNING

Friday morning – last full day in Northern California –

After nine days – seeing almost everything we wanted to see-

and all the extra unexpected things we never imagined we would see-

We went back to where this trip started –

” SAC TOWN ” as it is called –

Historical Sacramento !

And of course we made a stop for a brew

In the Sports bar called “SACTOWN ” !

This place is a true SPORTS BAR –

with authentic autographs every where !

I just walked around and took it all in –

I can not imagine how they accumulated all of this !

THAT WAS A FIRST FOR ME !

Moving on – it was time to eat a late lunch

before we boarded the boat for a riverboat ride!

We made it – 3:00 PM. cruise –

Time for a brew !

At last – in the heat – some shade – and a couple of cold drinks!

We were on the top covered deck

and we would go I think up river

about one hour

and then turn around

and come back!

It still was warm even up there

they had fans

but you could stand on the bow

but it was in the Sun.

The cruise was informative

Sherry had been here last April

and had said the river was much higher

from all the snow melt in the mountains

What Sherry had seen in April is marked in GREEN on the gauge pole !

To me -that is quite scary !

After our boat ride –

it was time to take in the last sights of SAC TOWN !

Papa’s World -wine tasting – NAPA VALLEY – 400 to choose

GOOD MORNING

And so it began – two hours – trying to pick out the stops –

We were going to NAPA VALLEY

a good two hour drive ( ended up closer to 2 1/2 hours )

Our first choice

CASTELLO di AMOROSA – fine ITALIAN WINE !

And – I LIKED IT !!!!

The first wine I have actually liked in a tasting ! ( all of them)

And a real castle – took 30 years in planning – 15 years to construct

and at 121,000 square feet – HUGE !

This is a replicate of a 1300 Moorish castle

I do not know the exact reason – other than it was a dream of the owner

But – you have to know – this is not a commercial wine

you can ONLY BUY IT HERE !

And it is all ITALIAN !!!!!

Just the outside was worth the cost !

But it was time to do inside !

We could of chosen the wine tasting
in the Banquet Hall

But instead we went to the under ground tasting room !

DONE !!!!

We had a really good person who poured

in fact we paid for five

he gave us at least seven

and one was from a $300.00 bottle !!!!

The kind that he had to break the wax seal !

Cindy was ecstatic over that one !!!!!
And so was Sherry and I !!!!!!
NOTE – I DRANK ALL OF MINE !

Now – normally I do not like wine

but – there was something about this ITALIAN WINE I LIKED !

Now -the only way to get them home

was to ship them

And they had hundreds of bottles
BUT WE COULDN’T SELECT

The bummer was that you had to select at least SIX bottles

before they would ship!

I did not like it that much ( $300.00 )

So – we toasted – marked it up to very enjoyable –

And made our way back out side

Papa’s World – MUIR’S FOREST – Part two

GOOD MORNING

As we walked among the giants – the peace and quiet became evident –

from watching the man push his wife up the path in a wheel chair

to the lady who quietly said ” Would you like for me to take your picture ” ?

And that is how we managed to have a picture

with all of us standing inside this huge Redwood tree !

And then the tree that I hid inside and peaked out –

I am told that the really big Redwoods are further North

Where you can drive a car through –

To think this tree is between 600 and 1600 years old !

And then we entered Cathedral Grove –

Instantly all was quiet

A church like atmosphere –

everyone was hushed at the grand gathering of trees !

Walking among them – looking up and then ahead –

taking in the beauty of these giants !

Papas World – staying with our daughter – 4th of July

I am glad I had my HIPPIE YEARS all those years ago! YIKES!

All those years later – we have sold our home

and are spending time back and forth between our daughters homes.

Here – we are at Debby and Mikes at Lake Holiday – Cross Junction.

We have come for the 4th. of July – and the fireworks on the lake

at a friends of theirs dock!

We have been coming here for the past 14 years to be with them

We all are a family of healthy eating

Sherry is a senior sales cordinator

and Debby a Qualified National Marking Director.

Both for the same company –

The Juice Plus Company

and both certified health coaches.

The peaceful setting – ducks on the water – speed boats –

and pontoon boats pulling tubes and skiers.

Observing is my nature – I like to watch – listen –

and I as I get older – I am learning –

Papas World – near the finish line – a whole new World awaits – looking into the future.

As I write this – we have THREE MORE SLEEPS HERE!

Then we will finish moving & clean the house –

And go to our daughters house at Lake Holiday

and spend the night or two.

With the tree oldest grand kids.

Sarah 13 Debby mother – Sherry – Maddy 19 & Ella 16

All are about to have birthdays this Summer and Fall

Hard to believe they are that old!

Then it will be onto our other daughters house

were we have sort of set up base camp!

They also will have birthdays soon.

Our plan is to go back and forth –

For a while – also to travel and see friends and family.

There is a lot of truth in this – we are changing – evolving –

and going to enjoy life without debt – taxes and HOA’s.

For at least a while!

We have been careful – we wear our masks when in close company.

But – life goes on – we are healthy –

I was asked WHY I take Juice Plus & Omega’s

My reply is I know the research – I know how I feel –

and I trust good nutrition over a pill.

And I have been doing it for 15 years.

Our faith – our sound judgement & our convictions

lead us to living life to the plus

one day at a time!

Papa’s World – The lone Cypress – Pebble Beach

On our bucket list of things we have to do in Northern California –

See the LONE CYPRESS tree and sit on the balcony overlooking –

the 18 th. green at the World known PEBBLE BEACH !

Many times I have watched the PGA

and the tournament held here every year – THE PRO AM !

One day I shall see it !

We both are want to be golfers !

But in our World – just being on the course is enough !

and a couple other courses –

the temps in the low 60’s – overcast – foggy –

just like you see on TV.

Walking through the sand – the beach – and just a little ways away –

another golf course hole –

close enough that you stand 20 feetf rom them teeing off !

guarding the rocky shore –

becoming the Signature of PEBBLE BEACH GOLF COURSE !

And then you make the right hand turn toward the Ocean –

and you are there –

And you have arrived at the famed Pebble Beach

and the 18th. green and the long Par Five fairway !

The dog leg left –

Many times I have watched the pros try to cut that corner –

Esp. Phil Mickleson –

only to have it go gracefully over the cliffs

and onto the beach or water !

that would be big trouble for me !

Since I generally hit the ball to the right and short –

no problem with the Ocean ! LOL

How much ?

Guess I have to delete that one from my fantasy bucket list !

But – we made it – 70 years and counting !

Do not know if I ever will get back here

Papa’s World – over 55 community – reality

It started a little over a year ago –

there has long been rumors –

There would be a over 55 community built along the lake !

GOOD MORNING

The site work has been ongoing for the last 16 to 24 months –

Then – about a year ago – building started !

Walking through the woods

One of the trails we walk – was extended –

and now it took us directly to the new community

about one mile from our home.

Nearing the lake

We could watch from the trail the construction starting –

but we could not walk around the lake as our trail ended.

Then – they opened it up – with gravel – then black top !

The beginning of the lake –

The town houses already built

As we progressed along the path –

the new huge clubhouse comes into view

The club house

The club house has both a indoor and out door pools –

along with two pickle ball courts !

There are conference rooms – activity center –

and covered veranda’s

Fishing dock and indoor pool area

There are already several different houses built

There are single family homes –

Town houses – Condo’s and four story townhouses!

Construction is everywhere –

and now we can walk around the entire lake

Adding miles to our already existing 15 miles of trails.

The new name is BIRCHWOOD – over 55 community –

Brambleton Va.

They will have their own HOA

PAPA’S WORLD

Papa’s World – geraniums – potato’s – Tower Gardens

It has been just a little over one month –

since we replanted the Geraniums-

that are now 4 or 5 years old !

For the first time – we have planted Potato’s !

Today – Sunday – 6-2-19

We also have for the second year –

a flower called –

THE EVENING PRIMROSE !

What is unique about that –

is it ONLY BLOOMS AT NIGHT !

The Tower Gardens are now in production for almost 5 weeks.

We have been eating lettuce since the end of week two.

It will not be long as we have flowers for Tomato’s – Squash and Cucumbers

And Egg plant – herbs – other greens.

A first for us – Potato’s!

We have a total of 8 Potato plants –

this is the first time we have ever planted them !

Just saying !

We never had Green Thumbs

until we bought our first Tower Garden eight years ago !

And – really – it is so easy –

just make sure it has WATER & NUTRIENTS!

A very wise thought !

Now – I have learned – these are her babies –

she is known as the –

TOWER GARDEN QUEEN !

She has quite the following !

And – you can tell by the results –

I in turn – make sure they have WATER –

They have NUTRIENTS and the vines have a place to climb !

Our Geraniums – I pull up in the Fall –

shake the dirt off –

Stick them right side up in a five gallon pail –

and hang them from ceiling in our unheated garage !

In the Spring – we pull them out –

clean the dead leaves off –

And pot them – water them and just watch them come back.

A good thought

I am in charge of the lawn outside – that is my time to just relax –

I rather like mowing – making it look nice and neat !

We had a irrigation system put in two years ago –

and finally – this year –

It has recovered and grown in nice and green !

I have a lawn service and have lime spread in the Fall.

All in all – growing vegetables – seeing the colors of our flowers –

Is a form of stress relief for me.
