A view of the marsh in Vareen Gardens – Little River, S.C.
Walking the trails –
the wooden boardwalks –
across the marshes-
and through the pine and cedar trees-
We have been doing this little trip since we first found it in 2020!
It is quiet –
peaceful-
and wanders through forests and marsh to the ICW!
Once there –
you find shells decorated or signed or just plain hanging by string-
from the multiple tees in the area.
Sherry coming along the path-
from the wooden boardwalk –
onto another boardwalk –
that comes out on the ICW!
On a large deck,
fishermen try for fish as boats pass by.
The day is warm –
with a breeze –
We slowly walk the boardwalk –
the tide is almost high-
and the marsh is flooded.
Vareen Gardens goes way back –
as a family compound in the 1600s.
There is a family cometary here –
This land was turned into a park –
And is free to the public.
This time is a look forward –
to our fifth year being in the N.C. & S.C. area.
Our senior years are here now.
The new year to come –
Welcoming family and friends-
to our home.
From us on the ICW at Vareen Gardens –
Love – happiness and a life full of joy in the New Year.

As we look forward to 2024 – we reflect back on the year 2023 – living near the beach and ICW!
This new year marks three and one-half years since we sold our house – stayed with family and then headed South to the border area of N.C. and S.C.
Our time here has brought new friends – exploration – family, and friends to our new home.
We look forward to friends and family visiting once again!
A drink to bring in the New Year – living life one day at a time!
Many paths – many roads and places to explore in the New Year – good times – old and new friends – family!

Papa’s World – A NEW YEAR BEGINS – FROM US TO YOU!
Another year to get the golf game on track!
We love playing golf – and we are right in the middle of some 20-plus courses! Hoping this new year brings me better scores!
A new year to give – a new year to share – a new year of gratitude.
Living THE SALT LIFE – warmer weather – no snow or ice – living life to the plus!
Another year of aging – but another year of exploring – living healthy – one day at a time.

As we start the new year – 2021 –
Hoping that this year will be better than the last!
We now are officially in the South!
But – the family is spread now out more than ever!
My two sons and daughter in law are all back in NWPA.
They run a energy – audit company that contracts with the state.
Very successful and ever growing
Troy runs the crews – Trisha the office –
and Shawn the audits.
This is all done with grants for the elderly
by both the state and the power companies that serve the elderly.
Sherry has two sisters – one still lives back in NWPA
The other outside Raleigh N.C.
Both are retired as is Sherry who also runs her own
network marketing company from where ever we live.

We are now across Pa. Va. N.C. and a possible Tenn.
Kristy – Nigel – Bethany – Natalia – Nathan – Tammy – Debby – cousins.
The family has grown over the years –
today you see in the first picture that growth.
As we age – it seems that get together’s get less and less.
Being so spread out and so diverse –
logistics and time make it almost impossible to bring it off!
2020 has been a tough year – a time of forced seperation
social distancing – less travel – moving away.
It also has brought us together with Zoom calls
text messages and phone calls.
But one thing is for certain –
family always remains strong.
My blog starts and ends with family.

The night before we came back home to N.VA. – we drove 45 minutes South
Near Pawley’s Island S.C
to “BROOK GREEN”!
( and we will go back in warmer weather – to see it again in daylight!)
The whole place – hundreds of acres – is dressed up in colored themes –
and over 1000 candles lit by hand!
Bronze statues are everywhere!
There must be a lot of volunteers to do all of this!
And – we only saw part of the park –
there also is a zoo here but was closed!

I have some criteria that I follow when posting on Facebook.
We are constantly bombarded by WHAT IS WRONG on the media today.
Negative vibes – where are the good things to be written about?
So – I decided a long time ago – I would share smiles –
Good thoughts – Family – Friends and day to day happenings.
Also a way to document my life –
To put it all down in journal type writings.
I try to stay away from politics – as I have friends from all sides.
Sometimes that is very hard to accomplish
But – I try –
You see – my life is in the later stages
I want the kids to read this after I am gone
I want them to know who I am
what I did and how I feel.
I hope I conveyed these thoughts through my blogs
I am happy with my life
And today I hope I brought us a little bit closer
