WELL-WELL-WELL!!!! Have you made your New Year’s Resolution?

Mine is to enjoy each and every day to the plus!

I gave up losing weight-

Instead, I want to be happy!

Today, we are where we want to be.

LOL – this can be very true!

I make lists of things to do-

I keep a daily calendar of “STUFF” coming up!

I know what day of the week it is by

  1. The fact that church is on Sunday-
  2. Garbage goes outside on Tuesday evening.
  3. Wednesday- the garbage is picked up.
  4. Monday – Wednesday – Friday -the recycles can be taken care of.
  5. And walking the beach could be any day it does not rain! LOL

COFFEE – I look forward to COFFEE each morning!

One cup is all I drink-

Sometimes I drink tea!

But – COFFEE is my tiny pleasure.

I do not drink WINE – or HARD STUFF!

I occasionally have a beer. Light beer – not IPA!

I do not smoke or chew-

I drink mainly ice water.

When I do have a draft beer, it is a local called “RED OAK”!

So – “HAPPY NEW YEAR’S” for me –

It’s mainly being with family, friends, music, songs, and a hug at midnight!

Kind of boring – but that is what it is!

Our dear friends for decades and decades.

Now – we – Shery and I – are the older seniors!

But we still enjoy the friendships of these folks over the years.

Golfing – music and laughter.

To many more good times to come!

Memories are made of songs sung and laughter –

To be enjoyed for a lifetime.

FRIENDSHIPS are for life-

WE ARE BLESSED!

A memory of little Taylor I shall always have.

Papa’s World – Retirement – family and friends!

In Cameron Woods Community –

We have made new friends!

Marcea and Bill –

Ken and Marylou-

Diane and Steve ( who are from where we lived in WNY)

Fun times and looking forward to more of the same!

Where we chose to live –

Near the beaches –

On the border of N.C. and S.C.

In the winter – we can survive with no snow or ice- most of the time.

And – we can walk the beach anytime we choose.

We are close to old friends – three couples!

Our enclosed Lanai is a haven for our plants and flowers!

We could not do thus BACK in NVA!

This plant belonged to Sherry’s mother – Barb – and reminds us of her every day – GIGI!

Our lemon tree – who would have thought!!!!

Small things make us happy!

Now – we get to spend time with two couples who have been our close friends for over forty years!

Golfing – singing – lifting a few drinks and laughing!

So many times we have been together that it ends up like this!

Now – we all live in the state of N.C.

and we all are from back in WNY and close to NWPA!

Friends are forever and more!

My oldest buddy from grade school – Bob and his wife Pam

We now see them every year – past six years –

when they stop with their RV in their sixth year of retirement.

Friends are special parts of our life together.

Family from back in NVA-

While we left them to move South –

They come down and we go back to NVA!

Family from back where we grew up in NWPA!

Now that her mother has passed away – we do not get there as often as we would like!

But – they have been down a couple times and we hope for them to be here this summer.

Bonnie on the left –

Still lives next door to where they were raised.

Debby on the right lives one mile from us in Cameron Woods Community.

Family – hoping that Bonnie can sometime in the future make it down.

When we do go back to NWPA-

We will see her and her family and my sons and their wife-partner!

Sunset Beach and in the upper far right corner – Ocean Isle Beach.

We are here because of choice.

We are happy in retirement –

With family – friends and our life here.

Having good thoughts and a positive outlook in this climate –

Keeps one on an even keel!

Knowing the history of the DC area –

keeping in mind of those who came before us-

This brings me to a good thought –

Respect those who came before!

LOL – some humor for the day!

In my old age – this just might be true!!! LOL

Laugh at at what this means – being a senior I can identify!

This is the KINDRED SPIRIT mailbox!

It exists on the far western end of Sunset Beach –

About a mile and one-half walk from the pier-

Put here by a hippie couple four or five decades ago!

Today it is maintained by volunteers.

Inside is a journal you can write in.

As the journals fill –

another is placed as a replacement.

Worth the stroll down the beach –

a place of solitude-

a place to write your memories or thoughts!

As we look forward to 2024 – we reflect back on the year 2023 – living near the beach and ICW!

This new year marks three and one-half years since we sold our house – stayed with family and then headed South to the border area of N.C. and S.C.

Our time here has brought new friends – exploration – family, and friends to our new home.

We look forward to friends and family visiting once again!

A drink to bring in the New Year – living life one day at a time!

Many paths – many roads and places to explore in the New Year – good times – old and new friends – family!
