Sherry – “Grandma” and “MorMor”!

The older granddaughters call her “Grandma”!

The younger granddaughters and grandson call her”MorMor.”

Which is in Swedish – “MOTHERSMOTHER”!

Sherry’s mothers mother was born in Sweden.

Both are endearing names, and all love her!

GOOD TIMES AND MEMORIES!

All the grandchildren –

She lives for them.

GOOD TIMES AND MEMORIES!

He is gone but not forgotten.

My older brother, Roger.

He was my hero growing up.

Ten years older than I.

He graduated H.S.and then went away to college.

After college, he went into Officer Training School for the Navy.

Later, he married and never came back to his hometown of Eldred, PA.

Other than to visit every few years.

In his later years, we became close.

After we retired, we would spend time with him in The Villages of Florida.

Those are my precious memories of an older brother whom I considered my hero.

GOOD TIMES AND MEMORIES!

Mine would read “Tom hit this ball too short and to the right- now it is yours”!

Great friends –

Cindy and Buck!

Our neighbors back in Portville, N.Y. late 80s and to mid 90s.

Now we live about forty minutes from them.

We still get together –

We still golf together.

And we have traveled the world with them.

POSITIVITY!

Sherry was a runner – me – not so much! LOL

I was the SUPPORT TEAM!

In one of her competitions, she placed first in the age group 60 to 64!!!!

She ran the Cherry Blossom 10 milers several times through the streets of Washington, D.C.

The most memorable time was when her daughters –

Debby and Tammy ran with her.

They all crossed the finish line together, holding hands!

THAT WAS A PRECIOUS MOMENT IN TIME!

LOL – But the good thing for me –

I LOVE VEGETABLES –

I am always eating uncooked carrots, radishes, onions, and tomatoes.

I love celery and hummus dip!

I eat greens and raw cabbage.

I also like them cooked.

Steamed and just picked and fresh!

You do not have to encourage me to eat my vegetables! LOL.

I live one day at a time ever since my open-heart surgery.

I learned that day to never take life for granted.

It was as close to dying as I have ever been.

I count my blessings and the lifestyle changes we made twenty-plus years ago!

We build our IMMUNE SYSTEMS every day.

In twenty years, I have not missed a day, even when I had my heart attack and open heart surgery.

I am convinced – if I had not made those changes before the heart attack-

I would not have survived.

I now get tested every three to six months with blood tests.

Today – in those tests –

I am the same as I was the day after my open-heart surgery.

Everything is working, including every nuclear stress test I have taken.

In recent years, I have managed to keep it in the fairway –

Not as far as I used to, but at least I can find it!

Golf is a game of hard knocks!

Long – short – sideways and missed swings!

But – for me – it only takes one to bring me back time and time again.

THAT IS MY GOOD THOUGHT IN MY LIFE!

We both live by this in this world of turmoil.

Helping when we can and what we can afford.

Volunteering for those less fortunate.

LIFE ONE DAY AT A TIME!

YEP – I HAVE DONE THAT! LOL!

So many funny things happen while playing golf.

Being out in the open air-

Good companions –

Fun times and laughter.

I have even hit the ball, and my watch signals that I have fallen and do I need assistance! LOL

LIFE IS FULL OF HUMOR!

MY GOOD THOUGHT EVERY DAY IS THIS SIGN ON THE FRONT PORCH!

Beach day is only ten minutes away.

The other beach is fifteen minutes away, and the third is thirty minutes away.

Each offers something different.

For us –

It is a dream we have had for a very long time.

FAMILY – FRIENDS have shared that dream with us.

Dottie – Cindy and Sherry –

In front of our home in Brambleton, VA.

All from WNY and NWPA.

Cindy was our neighbor on Pleasant Acres Drive in Portville, N.Y.

Dottie grew up in the town I did and knew Cindy.

So, they have known each other for decades and decades.

We try to get together 2 or 3 times a year.

Now,

All of us are retired.

And we all live in the state of N.C.

Dottie in the Northern part of the state,

and Cindy and Buck are bout 38 miles from us –

We live in OIB, and they are just outside Leland and in Magnolia Greens!

The POSITIVES- still friends after all these years and enjoying the company,

Of each other!

All six grandkids!

Bode is the only boy!

Sarah – Cassidy – Taylor – Maddy and Ella.

POSITIVE – as you can see here,

They all get along! COUSINS!

Since grade school and through high school –

I have had a friendship with Bob.

After six years of RVING-

Coast to coast and North to South-

They decided to try a year in our area.

They leased a home –

Put the RV in storage close by,

And now live nine miles away.

We are showing them the area.

While it is not Florida, Maine, or Arizona-

It offers four seasons-

Almost free of snow and ice-

A lot of golfing opportunities.

And number one on their bucket list –

THE BEACH ACCESS!

A POSITIVE FOR THEM WHILE MAKING A DECISION!

Bode – the only grandson from Sherry’s side of the family!

He is going to be tall – Like Sherry – Ella and Sarah –

All 5’10 or more!

Bode is very athletic.

He plays – field hockey- flag football – golf – basketball –

Soccer – ice skates –

Basketball and baseball.

So – while he still is in grade school-

He will eventually select a sport in which he will excel!

A POSITIVE AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE!

LOL – SO MUCH TRUTH IN THIS FOR ME!

It is both PRICELESS and POSITIVE in the relationship that continues to this day!

A walk down the beach for a mile and a half

An area with benches and a mailbox containing journals inside.

A view of the rolling surf, and behind you, a view of sand dunes, marsh, and a bay!

A large piece of driftwood with a plaque dedicated to the two hippies who decades ago-

Lugged a mailbox here, installed it, and called it the KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX!

You write your thoughts down, and someone collects the notebooks,

And they are in a college museum for posterity.

A TIME FOR REFLECTION!

Sherry won a raffle for a pontoon boat for a day.

We invited friends, and we went on the ICW-

A day spent cruising and yes –

Riding the waves of larger boats!

Making memories-

A POSITIVE MEMORY!

A new way for us to sip a drink that contains the nutrients of 30 fruits and vegetables is –

A condo with a fantastic view of a lake and fountains.

We spent nine months here at this condo in Ocean Keyes.

Located in North Myrtle Beach –

We lived here while our home –

was in Cameron Woods Community-

In Ocean Isle Beach –

was being built.

A huge community here in this picture with 780 condos.

We were on the fourth floor, and this lanai was across the entire back of the condo.

Ducks, geese, birds, and swans were in our view daily.

From up high, we could see-

Very big fish swimming.

This, for nine months,

gave us GOOD VIBES every day!

Papa is standing on our new home in Cameron Woods Community –

Ocean Isle Beach.

We left the condo and moved some 16 miles away.

We still travel to NMB –

And visit that area.

GOOD VIBES are being created where we now live.

He is now 11 years old –

The first grandson from Debby and Tammy –

Debby has three daughters-

and Tammy has two daughters,

and Bode.

Today he plays soccer, flag football, and golf.

He is all boy.

He also sings like his sisters in the church choir –

And is interested in performing in plays, as are the older girls.

These pictures bring back GOOD TIMES IN MEMORIES!

Before we sold our home in Brambleton –

Each Easter, we would have an Easter Egg hunt!

Taylor – Cassidy – Sarah – Ella – Bode and Maddy.

The many memories we had here in this home –

All the grandkids are coming to spend overnights.

THESE ARE GOOD TIMES IN MEMORIES!

Sherry is in my brother Rogers’ second golf cart.

We would spend six weeks in the winter after Christmas with him –

At his home in The Villages in Florida.

We often went golfing with him

He had two golf carts.

This is the one we would use.

Many fond memories of traveling throughout The Villages in this cart.

Sherry had an app that was a GPS,

and we would never get lost.

One of my dearest and longtime friends.

Buck McBride –

We were neighbors in Portville, N.Y.

They moved away to N.C.

In the mid-90s.

But we stayed in touch-

And we have vacationed around the World with him and Cindy.

We now live 38 miles away from them and often get back together.

Here we are on our latest vacation together at Winter Garden in Florida.

GOOD TIMES IN MEMORIES!

Bob and Pam –

My grade school buddy –

Playing sports together-

Pam and Sherry hit it off.

They have traveled and camped in a Class A RV –

For the past six years.

They have made it a point to camp near us-

for the last six years, for a week.

This time, after we spent a week with the McBrides –

We stayed on and spent four days with them-

Staying in a friend’s camper near them at the campground.

Here, we spent a day with them renting a golf cart-

and touring THE VILLAGES.

Papa is on the beach with my new hat to keep the skin cancer away from my face!

I go every six months for check-ups!

Preventive care for me!

He is a ranked pool player who has often played in Las Vegas.

A little humor this morning –

I on the one hand –

wake up almost every morning at the same time.

Very seldom do I just roll over and continue to sleep –

Unless there is a Thunder and rain storm.

That seems to make me just lay there –

Listen to it and drop off to sleep once more!

LOL – some smiles for today!

For me – this is so true.

That is why I buy a higher beach chair.

I do not want people to see me rolling off to my knees-

and attempting to get up! LOL

I have always led my life with –

“Do the small things in life – mostly – it will take care of the bigger things”!

When talking about the volunteer work we do for the food pantry –

I was asked – “Can they work”?

Now – the people who came and waited for food –

Most were elderly – on fixed incomes.

A few were homeless –

Others – you could tell had emotional problems.

A few were living in their cars.

Different diseases you can not tell by just looking through a window.
I did not know these folks –

And I thought – why would you ask that question?

We were there to help –

And that question – well –

I hope that they never are in that position-

of the people –

who came for food –

Giving – helping – caring –

The little things in life that make the difference!

Near dusk from our driveway –

We caught a glimpse of a space rocket launch –

Going across the sky!

Sherry had been watching the news and it was announced the direction of the flight-

was taking in the night sky!

The wonders of space – rockets – exploring the outer limits –

A good vibe was shared from the driveway.

Routine – for me – going to bed when I am tired – fall asleep –

And without an alarm clock –

wake up between 5 and 6 am. every morning.

Then a half hour of preparing for the day to come-

Getting dressed –

And making my one and only cup of coffee for the day.

Sipping it as I read the paper online.

Skipping the absurd from either the left or the right.

World events – looking for the positive to start my day.

Following sports and checking my emails and notifications.

Then writing my daily blog.

ROUTINES that I enjoy.

Let the new day begin!

Today is a blog on good vibes –

A blog that gently leads you into a day of your life.

My uplifting thoughts for the day – Enjoy –

While many of you do not know this picture

It sits atop a high dune on Sunset Beach,

Bird Island,

at the SW end of the beach.

It has a plaque on it –

And the snow is very rare!

In memory of the two people responsible for installing the

KINDRED SPIRIT MAILBOX decades ago!

Now – it looks like this –

But over the decades that old mailbox –

has been replaced many times.

Inside is a journal that when full of written thoughts –

Has been retrieved by volunteers over the years –

And sent to S.C. University-

to be preserved for the history of all the people-

who have written down their thoughts on the journals’ pages.

There also are two benches to sit and meditate –

or write in the journals with a view of the waves –

on the sandy beach.

This was because two hippies those many decades ago –

lugged all the items needed down the beach –

and put them in that first mailbox.

Today the Kindred Spirit Mailbox remains a testament to those two

With plaques with their names on the benches!

Here is a good vibe and good thought for the day!

A word for you on what you have become!

Enjoy the day and count the blessings!

In one of the many ponds in Cameron Woods Community –

Resides an alligator.

It is large and getting bigger.

Most times it resides in the middle of the pond.

While we keep a watchful eye on its whereabouts –

I am more concerned about keeping that watchful eye for snakes!

Yes – we do have them-

and a couple different ones are poisonous!!!

But – that is part of living on the eastern coast of N.C – S.C.

Along with Red Wolves – Turkeys – Bob Cats –

Deer – Racoons – Bear and many other animals.

Nature is my good vibe for the day.

I tend to focus every day-

on the positive side of life in general

Being in our senior years –

life is too short-

to dwell on negatives.

On one of our GOOD TIMES together – Sherry and Cindy.

We were neighbors in WNY in the mid to late 80s and mid-90s.

They moved to the Wilmington, N.C. area and we would visit.

Over all these years – we often time planned vacations together taking us all over the world.

Buck – Cindy’s husband and I –

We golfed together when they lived as our neighbors back in WNY.

It was there that the gals decided to golf –

making for many laughs as often they would make fun of us for things we did golfing.

Like washing the golf balls off –

Not wearing mittens in cold weather –

Later they came to be good or better than us.

Today – we still laugh at all of the above.

GOOD TIMES IN PICTURES!

The very first couple we met when we moved to Cameron Woods Community –

Is Diane and Steve.

We found out that they not only are our neighbors here –

But that they lived near us back in WNY –

And knew many of the places we did and still had a cottage on Rushford Lake.

Now – they spend their summers back in WNY while we watch their home.

Then for the rest of the year,

they are here and we do many things together.

All four of us are Bills fans!

Two of my best friends – Buck and Jim.

Many laugh together over the years.

Jim and I grew up in the same little town in NWPA – ELDRED!

We played softball together and both worked for American Olean Tile in Olean, N.Y.

First – after 32 years –

I transferred to NVA –

And a few years later – he transferred to the Va. Beach area.

Buck had already moved to the Wilmington, N.C. area.

Today – Jim – Sherry and I all retired from Dal-Tile,

which was the former American Olean Tile and is now owned by MOHAWK INDUSTRIES.

We have maintained this friendship all these years.

Decades and decades of get-togethers and so many laughs.

All are now retired and enjoying life to the plus.
