Living life – doing it my way – the name of my blog –

And that is how our life together has gone.

The years have passed – but we still maintain a healthy lifestyle

Traveling – helping other people –

To this day – we love our life

When you come close to passing away

at least for me

there was no flashes of my past

no profound moments

but there was a inner peace

one that just ” LIVE FOR THE MOMENT”

and be grateful for what I lived.

Today – we gather our belongings

pack up and head home

but first a trip to the Farmers Market

then the highway.

Our next long awaited trip

in February with our second oldest grand child

a trip for her 16th. birthday

One month in the warmth of Florida

and one week for her and a trip to

Star Wars theme park.

She is a huge fan !

” Do you want to go to the farmers market ” ? she asked.

” Of course” I said – “where are we going” ?

“I will drive” she said.

That means – where ever it is –

it is easier for her to drive than tell me how to get there !!!!!

The Original Reston – “NEW TOWN ” Lake Anne Village

Today – it sits quietly hidden –

across the highway

from what is known as ” RESTON” town center.

A conglomerate of high rise office buildings – hotels – stores –

Huge parking garages

and what is now the last stop on the Silver Line Metro

( SEVEN MORE STOPS WILL BE COMPLETED BY 2021)

Lake Anne and the planned community- a large condo unit

It was one of the first PLANNED COMMUNITY

in the Country –

And it reminds me of the housing

FRANK LYOLD WRIGHT built –

Today – it is listed as a HISTORICAL SIGHT –

the entire town and surroundings

then- 1961 – it was planned as a area where you worked – lived and played !

Houses with shops below them

You buy a “HOUSE ” and along with it –

a retail space on the first floor !

The houses are two to four bedrooms –

the retail space you either lease out –

Or run your own business !

And – in the middle of all this a Lake

and down the street

a 18 hole golf course.

This concept was way beyond it’s time !

The lake also has numerous homes –

all listed in the millions –

with their own docks and for the most part House boats !

I THINK PARTY CENTRAL IS THE MIDDLE IF THE LAKE !

You can rent paddle boats – kayaks – or just walk the miles of trails.

It is hard to believe that when you are at Reston Town Center –

That right across the street this all exists –

as it is surrounded by huge old growth trees –

and you can not see any of it !

Yet – it remains – a testament to a dream of planning –

Today – I share this with you –

it has been years since I have been here.

We almost always go to the CITY OF RESTON –

We catch the Metro there.

But just beyond the trees –

a Historical little village looms –

And on Saturdays –

HUNDREDS OF FARMERS –

They come from Maryland – Penna. and Va. – West Va.

set up their booths

and the quaint becomes bustling –

yet it remains quiet as NO CARS are allowed on it’s streets –

but you can walk – rent a boat or just sit and relax –

As you can tell – I am not a snow and cold person

My idea of weather is low 60’s at night

low to mid 80’s in day time.

Every Sunday morning
in our community
is a Farmer’s Market
Sherry ( MorMor) and Taylor
she is only 9 years old
but I can tell
she is going to be tall
like her MorMor
at 5′ 10″

Papa’s World – Touring The Villages by golf cart!

Here we are on the golf cart paths-

heading to Brownwood from Lake Sumpter Landing!

This is the view as we navigate a crossing section of a street –

and continue on the other side-

Much like regular street driving –

Right of way –

carts coming and going in both directions –

And stop signs at regular street crossings!

Passing pull-off areas for carts-

Much as you would see rest stops for cars!

Here you can observe golfers on the tee box –

I liked doing this –

when we would visit my brother during winter!

Pam and Sherry in the rear seat-

We rented the golf cart for the day in Sumpter Lake Landing –

And I guess it was over a dozen miles to Brownwood.

All seats faced forward,

which is what we wanted.

The cart paths follow the main road along side it!

Sherry – Pam and Bob in the cart we rented.

Here we arrive at Brownwood and park.

The farmers Market was happening.

In the cart once again heading back to Sumpter Landing.

We spent I guess six hours touring on the paths and the two towns.

The four of us –

Bob – Papa – Pam and Sherry!

It was a great time –

Parking on the town street –

getting out and about!

Put this on your bucket list to see and do.

Papas World – Sheltering – warm days – seems normal!

We finally had some warm weather a couple days in a row!

Friday – Saturday and Sunday – low 70’s to low 80’s.

Beautiful skies – blue – white clouds and sunshine!

After Sunday supper – I sat down on the front porch and noticed

the clouds were coming in from the South West.

Going to storm I thought – but it was warm –

and I told Sherry if it does and the temps drop

we will have our first Spring Thunder and Lightening storm!

THE GRATEFUL DEAD
To all you deadheads out there!

We had watched our church service streamed live

enjoyed a great breakfast

and decided to walk to our town center 1 1/2 miles away.

So we could get in our three plus mile walk!

When we got over there after walking through the 15 acre park

we saw they had set up the Farmers Market –

with the whole width plus some – the street in between the booths

and each booth had yellow caution tape in front

so you could not get close.

You had to point and tell them what you wanted!

It was very well set up with a large table in the middle of the street

with hand sanitizer on it to disinfect your hands before and after

you made the purchase.

Since it was late and they were closing up –

I do not know if it was cash or credit card or both.

But – next week we are going as they had hanging baskets for $10.00

and Tomato plants for $2.50

( I always buy one to see if I can produce better than the Tower Garden)

I can’t!!!!!

The storm came in later at 10 PM. with lightening and Thunder

and a little bit of rain.

This morning it is warm 59 degrees.

Everything is lush – green and our roses are starting to bloom!
