Papa’s World – Saint Bonaventure Golf Course.

Saint Bonaventure University Western New York outside of Olean N.Y.

We lived in this area most of our lives together

The hills – rolling meadows

the lush greenery and yes snow.

But we also belonged to the Bona’s Golf Course!

Situated right next to the very large cemetery

and right across the highway from the University –

sits a nine hole course where we attempted to play golf

sometimes twice a week!

There are special holes here I remember

one is at the tee box of number FIVE

where you are up on a knoll

looking down but out across the trees to the campus

and the hills in many colors of the fall.

Just a beautiful peaceful view.

And then number SIX

where I recorded my only HOLE IN ONE!

Looking across number TWO fairway to number THREE!

The beauty of the course in all seasons

well – in my thought – not SNOW! LOL

But people cross country ski here in the winter.

And now – a brand new clubhouse built overlooking the course

in the exact same place as the old one

which I all the time hit!

The new clubhouse at Saint Bonaventure University

The old club house held many memories

of dinners – events and celebrations for us to remember.

But now – it is brand new

offering a view of numbers one – two and three.

And in the splendor of the fall foliage

The last time we were there

the course was in excellent shape

and I still see the views in my mind.

The course can be challenging

and sort of lulls you to wonderment of the views.

Number SEVEN – very hard to hold the green

if you are short it will roll 75 yards back down the slope

too far and you are in a steep back with 12 in rough!

In its splendor – lush green – views for miles.

Thank you for reading Papa’s World

If you are ever in Western New York –

about 65 miles South of Buffalo and you play golf

Just across the road from Saint Bonaventure University

sits a nine hole course we learned to play together

Take the time to take it all in and play nine!

Papa’s World – Flowers of Barefoot landing – S.C.

One of our places we like to wander about

in North Myrtle Beach S.C.

Is a place called Barefoot Landing

full of shops – boardwalks – small lakes –

places to eat – drinks to be had

music – outdoor activities

and FLOWERS!

Everything in mid October is blooming!
The colors are just beautiful!

It takes me back to my childhood – Spring – Summer

in NWPA!

Mild climate then and flowers blooming!

Flowering bush – and potted trees!

Barefoot Landing? Well almost – sitting enjoying the sights and sounds!

Sherry – mid October and the decorations are out!

This tine of year I have always favored

crisp air – decorations – Fall is here!

But the beauty of Summer remains!
Fall decorations from Summer past
The noise of a water fountain – solitude of quiet thinking!
The beauty of Sun flowers – hay and pumpkins!
Reds – greens fading to yellow

While walking around while the ladies shopped

I could not help but snap some pictures

we loved flowers at our house

each year they would come back

colors of Spring into Summer and Fall

Social distancing at Barefoot Landing

Papas World – with trees comes shade and “LEAVES”

We have beautiful trees- three Red maples

and one I do not know what it is!

They provide lots of shade along the side

and in front of the house.

We also have three evergreen trees-

one large pine and three crepe myrtles!

BUT – THIS TIME OF YEAR – ” LEAVES”!

The Sunrise
and all those trees alongside the house

So – we decided to blow them into a pile along the sidewalk.

And then we would pick them up and stuff into bags.

It was chilly – around 38 degrees – but the Sun was out –

blue skies – white puffy clouds –

a good day to rake and stuff!

Here I am with my stocking hat on
stuffing leaves into the paper bags

I had my blower and pushed the leaves onto the sidewalk

Note: This same sidewalk we have to shovel snow when we have it!

It runs in front of the house and along side about 150 feet!

Did I tell you I really do not like snow and ice! LOL

Plus no cold – snow or ice please!

It took us about one hour and we filled up SIX stuffed bags!

I had already done THREE bags a week ago!

Stuffed – ready to set out
on Tuesday
that is the day
they pick up lawn waste

The yard was green once again –

I had mowed the second leaf fall early last week

I do this to mulch them up and put nutrients

back into the ground!

It is all part of living
in a four season’s
part of the country

Now – to the present – Christmas lights are up

All three trees are decorated

All the mangers set up and the little lighted churches placed

The inside decorations are done

the storage tubs back in place in the garage

And for twenty four hours it rained!

I went out front to gather up the paper

and there it was –

” ON TOP OF MORE LEAVES “

The rain had brought down more leaves!

The leaves are all wet from the rain –

There are still leaves( about 20 % ) on the trees.

We will have to wait to blow them but I also am thinking

I will once again mow and mulch them!

I am not a TECHIE

We still have time – being retired – you have choices

Bundle up – go outside

mow or rake or gather

or just stay in – turn the fireplace on

turn on the lights on the trees ( NO LEAVES THERE)

grab a book and just relax

That is what I call

With trees comes shade and “LEAVES”!

Papa’s World – colors – lights – our yard – Fall – Christmas

The trees – both in front and along the side –

Full of reds – yellow – orange and rust colors.

I love this time – except the cold !

Tree in front yard

For as far as I can see up and down the streets – colors!

I still mow the grass – the irrigation has been blown out –

and turned off – leaves are falling –

The Tower Gardens are all down – cleaned and packed away.

Except we now have the one inside up and running.

With grow lights –

A view up the street

The leaves will be a problem – usually 15 to 20 bags!

As the landscape changes – the air cooler – darker at night –

we turn on the fireplace –

The glow – the extra blanket on the couch

Winter is peeking in!

The patio and the trees
looking over

Soon – there will be snow flakes –

The wind will blow –

our walking will be inside at the mall

And once again my mind will turn to sunny days

warm winds and sometimes gentle rain

But for now – it LIGHTS!

The color of trees and the
glow of Christmas lights
our home

Yes – SIX WEEKS and I put up the lights

set up the tree ( no decorations as of now)

The spirit of Christmas is upon me.
