Papa’s World – National Museum-Natural History.

Sherry – Taylor and Bode at the entrance –

This was our goal –

and they were so excited!

While they were here many years ago –

They did not remember it!

Exploration covered many flights of stairs-

they looked around in awe-

They just looked and read and looked some more!

Taylor was fascinated by the skeletons of horses and turtles.

They could not get over just how big these must have been!

We spoke to a man who said he was from the area where they discovered all these skeletons in.

He had spent much time there and knew the people who work the fossils!

We then headed upstairs to the HOPE DIAMOND-

Which they had never heard of!

Here they saw many gems of famous origin.

THE HOPE DIAMOND!

Then onto more discoveries –

they were excited to see what was beyond the next corner.

As we wandered through the displays –

they were in awe-

Sherry and I decided next time we would come multiple days and see one section at a time!

One last glance over the balcony –

before we went to another section –

My next blog will have the rest!

Papa’s World – The BUNKUM STONE in Ashville!

As we were walking to go to the Bus Comedy Tour – we came across THE BUNKUM STONE and this plaque explaining what it was and I found it interesting!

Buck – Cindy and Sherry in front of the house and the stone along the street!

Little finds such as this are why we explore different areas and streets – you just never know what you will come across!

Exploring Ashville, N.C. with friends – finding the little-known places – here is one of them!

Papa’s World – Family in Lynchburg, Va.

Granddaughter Ella and Sherry – she is now taller than her grandma!

We came to Lynchburg, Va. for a family get-together and to watch both granddaughters play each other in college soccer.

Maddy is a senior at the University of Lynchburg and Ella is a Sophomore at Randolph College.

Both are starters on their teams.

Maddy is a senior.

Our daughters – Tammy and Debby.

Tammy’s family would join us later in the week – she came down with Debby and her family.

Family fun time.

Sarah and Ella – sisters – Sarah a sophomore in H.S.

It was a fun time exploring Lynchburg – family time together.

Papa’s World – A little day trip to Holden Beach, N.C.

The public park and dock of Holden Beach, park.

We decided to take a day trip to Holden Beach – to see the facilities for future boat trips on the ICW!

We went into the park right after we crossed the causeway from the mainland.

If we rent a boat we need to check out docks with bathrooms, this one had one.

But – you need to reserve the space to dock!

So we decided if we come this way we could wait to go to the dock across the ICW where Provision company is and wait for someone to leave.

Or we could unload people at the park – and just pull back out and wait for them to use the bathrooms.

We continued on to a bar and grill with a covered top deck and had a drink and lunch!

CHEERS with a view of the ocean across the street!

Another view from the top deck – great day – warm but with a good breeze sitting up there!
We got all the info we needed on our day trip to Holden Beach, N.C.

Not for me to question WHY – but for me to do or die! LOL

Papa’s World – Bald Head Island – part two.

The streets on cul-de-sacs – palm trees and each house have a small little cottage over the golf cart garage!

The streets are two-way – most of them – through the housing – the houses are a mixture of cape-cod and craftsman style. Two stories and little cottages in the front. Most have elevated views of the ocean and many are beachfront.

The ladies – Diane and Sherry – explore the path to the beach and water.
While Steve goes over the map – get a map or you end up in dead ends!

We had the car for about five hours – and also a map to get around. Here we can see where we want to go – but it is on the other side of the channel – we had to retrace our way back to the main road.

The island has a main road that goes all the way around – and many roads into neighborhoods!

They can be dead ends or through a maze of roads cut through to the other side.

So it is best to have the map.

There also is a 18 hole golf course here – we caught glimpses of it through the trees.

One of the many beach access with a place to park the golf cart!
